Attended the A-list New Year's Eve party and had a blast!
My go-to when visiting SF for work. Solid rooms, good location, really nice gym (recently expanded and renovated).
Excellent services. Neat hotel in the middle of the center.
The architecture is sublime but the rooms are a little dated. My wife and I stayed here when we eloped and we were pretty non-subtle that we were newlyweds and they didn't even congratulate us, much less leave us a bottle of cheap wine. Working in the hospitality business as long as I have, I really thought they should have picked up on the queue. Probably wont stay here again.
Wonderful hotel with a great view of union square. Perfect location.
The hotel should be well located. It is an old hotel, but the lobby atmosphere is clean and well maintained. I was uncomfortable because there was no bidet in the room. There were many basic amenities in the room. Slippers Toothpaste Toothbrush Razor etc. But the location is so good that it offsets all the inconveniences.
Good service but facilities are old and wifi is non-existent.
The Staff is Awesome they got our orders fast and were very attentive to our needs...Everyone there had a smile and was very fast in answering any questions we had..Thank you guys....
Love the view from outdoor elevator, wish there was more to do like a rooftop lounge, otherwise great.
Conference rooms are perfect for large events. Food was very good.
Clock bar, obnoxious music and too loud, after check sat for one hour talking, waitress never came back. Nice surroundings.
The Grand Ballroom was a very nice venue for the event I was attending.
Cleanest hotel in the area. Although the area has a large amount of tourists and homeless people, the hotel is an oasis. The rooms are clean, and the staff was very friendly.
Classic and elegant, in a wonderful neighborhood! Sophisticated dining and bar.
Higher end hotel, with iconic views from their elevators.
No room service, poor quality Wi-Fi for $15.00 a day. Limited TV selections. $80.00 parking. The Covid-19 restrictions impacted our stop over quite a bit.
Rooms weren't anything incredible, hotel overall is very nice
Comfortable accommodations, quick room service, and great location. Easy check in and check out.
Very busy part of town, but it is a beautiful venue for events and meetings
History hotel with a great atmosphere, yet rooms are historic too and the staff is a bit lost when responding to urgent issues. The location is great for day time, though during night time the square is filled with homeless people...
Visited the Westin St Francis for a wedding. Amazing views from the 32nd floor. Food was underwhelming but not much to expect from hotel catering.
The room for such a pricey hotel was largely nothing special. The shower has a perimeter size of a large cardboard box. I was unimpressed except the location is convenient
Friendly staff. Fresh air, and quality aloe soap, yay
Great location, beautiful lobby, and rooms with nice views. Minus one star because most other SPG properties do a welcome gift or something like that for Platinum members, and this one didn't.
Powell seems to have been refurbished in May 2018, and its beauty is different from a year ago, but it is natural. It is also amazing that there is a refrigerator and coffee maker that was not before. This will also cool yogurt and anything purchased. I used ice before. Anyway, it was a system of dropping money to a hotel, but it is possible to save lives if it is hot water and a refrigerator, although the hotel in the exclusive Union Square area which is high class is dropped. I overslept in a row and ate yogurt and the location is great.
The dinner was gorgeous with the minutes that floated. Return to the room and drink cold beer from the refrigerator!
You can do this kind of obvious thing at Westin!
The cost for one night is expensive, but it can not be helped if you think about the location and the style.
Oh yeah, the shower also got better.
Please think that there is no amenity. There are soaps, dryers and shampoos. Slippers too, so here is America. There is a safety box.
There is no such thing as a convenience store at the hotel.
The rooms are small, but comfortable and nicely updated. Staff here is very nice. Had a tasty lunch at the Oak Room. Some of the public spaces seem underused. There used to be a gorgeous large area right as you walked in that was a beautiful lounge/cafe/bar that was always crowded. Now it is completely empty and blocked off by screens. It is an odd sight to see entering the hotel. The hotel is in a great location, with plenty of shopping and restaurants within walking distance. Parking here is an outrageous $68 a day. Parking at one of the nearby garages will save you at least $30 a day.
kinda old, inside is nice with marble and nice furnishings, but it is an older building. rooms are ok, but are also somewhat dated. great location obviously
The hotel was what I needed. The room wasn't the biggest, but I was the only guest. The hotel was quiet. The bed was comfortable.
Great location. Small old rooms with small TVs. Clean. Not particularly vegetarian friendly for dining but did accommodate us with eggless pancakes in the morning. Great service from Ms. Estrada at the front desk. Wifi free with their frequent stay program or with certain room rates.
Opened 1904; survived 1906 earthquake; site of the 1921 Roscoe "Fatty" Arbuckle scandal.
I love this hotel! I've stayed here at least 8 times, and on this trip was given a tiny/ shoebox for a room. Due to my late check-in I was unable to be moved that night, but the next night I was upgraded to a much nicer room. Thank you!
One night in of a four night stay. Service express have messed up a simple request 3 times already. Hotel manager has been called on to resolve and that's not been sufficient on the first occasion either. Seems they run the hotel for the benefit of their staff rather than the guests. Shame.
I was so glad that we made a change in our hotel stay for San Francisco before leaving Australia. This was the best thing we did. From check in to check out, we had the best service. Our check in agent, Luis was so friendly and pleasant to deal with. Most of the time, we are rushed at check in and check out but, at this hotel, both times, Luis engaged with with us and was so genuine. He was lovely with the kids too. He made sure we had a lovely and comfortable stay to close out our 3 week long US holiday. The room was a great size for a family of 4 and not to mention, very clean. We were very lucky to have an amazing view too.
Decent hotel rooms aren't amazing but good views of Union SQ and access to city
Not the best Marriott property that I have stayed at. The location is great. I was able to walk to everything. There are tons of options for restaurants and shopping near the hotel. The building is beautiful. The lobby has giant marble columns and beautiful wood accents. My room on the other hand was not great. The room was not clean; there was old expired food (from a previous guest) in the mini fridge; the bathroom was dirty; and the drain in the shower did not work. If the air conditioning was not on or if a window was not open, the room smelled like dirty, old mop water. It was so gross. Housekeeping kept on turning off the air conditioning each time they cleaned my room so when I would get back at night my room would smell again. I told the hotel about my issues but they did not have any other rooms available. I love Marriott hotels but I will not be staying here again.
Stayed here for two nights with friends during the 7s Rugby World Cup. Such a fancy hotel. A little on the pricey side but it was all worth it. Its right in the middle of downtown SF, so everything is within walking distance except if you want to go to the Fisherman's wharf. I would stay there again.
Beautiful historic hotel in the heart of downtown San Francisco. Excellent bar and menu for on site dining as well as many, many unique options nearby within easy walking distance. Super attentive and professional staff as well.
The Westin St. Francis San Francisco on Union Square is located on 335 Powell Street, which in on Union Square itself.
The Powell Street Cable Car have stops right in front of the Westin St. Francis . The Powell Street Cable Car is a major lifeline in transportation for San Francisco.
The Westin St. Francis San Francisco on Union Square is an old Grand hotel from the yesterday years. The series Hotel from the 1980's was filmed at the Westin St. Francis on Union Square.
The outside and the inside is quite elegant, and have the old charm of when luxury hotels was luxurious. The rooms are quite small compare to the other hotels that was builded later.
The staff is absolutely attentive and professional. Bell boys standing at attention, the Front Desk is knowledgeable about your reservations, and the concierge is very knowledgeable about San Francisco.
Great hotel, but my room smelled of smoke. Otherwise a pleasant experience staying here.
Nice hotel in Financial area. Pretty standard big city Westin. Good room sizes.
Visited on 12/2014
The location is perfect for walking to many of the attractions San Francisco has to offer. The staff was incredibly helpful and friendly with requests and parking at the hotel is a plus.
It was a pleisure stay there and room service was nice
Nice place overall. It's a little loud as the walls are thin, but staff were nice and helpful.
Hi
I'm happy
Kindness and absolute surprise----
I was recently staying at the St. Francis on a work trip, and in the time I stayed there my father passed away of natural causes.
My girlfriend, which lives out of town, went to the hotel website to have a bottle of wine delivered to my room as a mourning gesture but couldn't find how to do so online. In the process she had managed to type out a short note to me and start the arangment but once again couldn't complete the task online within the hotel website.
She didn't mention a word to me about the occurrence.
The next night a knock at my door came with a bottle of wine and her note, hand written out to me on hotel ledger.
This was all the work of the hotel. They must have received a potion of the order and realized the situation and upon review sent up a bottle of wine.
This is a wonderful example of huminality at its finest, and I truly thank whomever arranged the completion of my girlfriends order and final say so for the gesture.
She was not charged a dime.... So, thank you ten fold for the recognition and emense kindness.
We went to an event. The staff was very accommodating and helped out with our setup. The food was decent for hotel event food. The production was very professional with minimal issues.
Great, comfortable, high quality hotel. Only drawback is they do not have a dinner-serving restaurant.
Was at the Westin St. Francis for the NYE Party and loved it. Unfortunately, I don't have much to offer on the hotel itself.
By any standards this is an absolutely spectacular, historic, old hotel located in downtown San Francisco on Union Square. The views are amazing from the upper floors. If I had been travelling by myself on business, as is often the case, I would of given it five star given the amenties, atmosphere, and nearness to everything. I was travelling with two teenage children and in this case there becomes a small issue at this hotel. While having three people in a room is allowed there is no room with a sofa bed option so not everyone can have their own bed. I understand given the clientele normally going through their doors but I wanted to provide an honest review of our experience. Would I go back and would I recommend? Yes, IF you are a business traveller or a couple.
I had a great experience. Staff were nice and friendly. Room was clean and large with comfortable furniture. Interior was beautiful. Services was great.
Hotel was good, but the power went out during 1am-4am which was really uncomfortable and frustrating
Staying here made me feel like a celebrity
6 stars all the way
Excellent hotel, great location, easy access to and from. Would definately recommend it, bit pricy but worth it.
Beautiful hotel. Elevator situation is different, but very cool
I have usually only the best of reviews for Marriott Hotels and I have used them frequently for my business trips. I am compelled to write a negative review for this location of Westin for multiple reasons,
1) I had to request multiple times for housekeeping to come clear my nearly-full garbage after my second of 4 nights of stay
2) I think for an environmentally conscious city like San Francisco, the Westin St. Francis elevator system is a total waste of energy. The unnecessarily complicated system runs in a fashion that does not efficiently permit multiple riders to take the same elevator to different floors.
3) (Honestly, this one was the last straw.) I spent nearly $1500 for staying 4 nights at the hotel (plus multiple other colleagues chose this place due to my recommendations based on past good experience with Marriott hotels). I left a pair of prescription glasses on my night stand and I was made to pay out-of-pocket for them to be shipped back to me. The hotel refused to extend me the courtesy of making this to me on their dime.
I hope that this was just the staff and policies at this location.
Great location in a swanky hotel. Nice rooms with relatively thin walls. By most standards good hotel gym.
If you're looking for a really fancy San Francisco hotel, this isn't the one for you, but if the idea of a phone toilet and a plethora of weird Korean TV channels in your room make you smile rather than turn your nose up, you'll have a fun time. It's clean and the staff will help you out if you have any questions, and that was perfect for me as I was out all day, exploring the city.
Hotel rooms are big and clean. Great service from hotel staff. Excellent location in SF.
Pretty good security. Not much walking room though.
