The best part about this hotel is the location. Perfect. After that, staff are polite and efficient and the rooms are clean, tidy and a reasonable size. The fixtures and fittings could do with an update though - I am fairly confident the bathroom was older than either my wife or I!

ok

Attended the Boys' and Girls' Town of Italy Ball of the Year at The Westin St. Francis on Union Square. It was a fantastic evening with great friends and an amazing band. Congratulations to Tony Pantaleoni, Man of the Year. Thanks and appreciation to the Kane family for having me as their guest.

Fantastic central base for our San Francisco leg of the journey. Decorated beautifully for Christmas. So close to a Hop on Hop off bus stop, cable cars.. and right on Union Square. Room service was delicious too.

The hotel is a piece of history and luxury located in one of the best citys to be and visit in the Bay Area.

Across from the Union Square plaza and all the mayor luxury stores in San Francisco this place offers a one of a kind mayor hotel stays in the area.

A great place to stay!

A great place to stay!
I stayed here for a couple of nights during my visit to SF, and I enjoyed it.

It was good hotel with its history but it was way to expensive for parking your vehicle and the rate of breakfast and food in oakroom is very high. Afterall it is ok , its just so near to union square and nothing is far from here. Awesome thing is the elevator system is crazily advance

While the accommodations were beautiful, the entire experience was marred by the poor and much to be desired service. From unknowledgable staff, to not letting guests know about street closures all around the hotel it left a VERY sour taste in my mouth for the amount of money we were paying.

There is a difference between "historic" and "old and busted". This hotel, while certainly historic in some sense is also definitely old and busted.

Musty, depressing, old rooms filled with dated furnishings. Bathrooms decoration inspired by the YMCA (not that there's anything wrong with the YMCA but you're not paying $300/night to stay there).

I would not recommend staying here. A better choice, especially for business travellers is the Westin Market Street, which is very mediocre, but significantly nicer than the St. Francis.

I am SPG Platinum and no upgrade was available, although I don't think they actually bothered looking. Overworked and tired staff, which is almost understandable, due to the place being constantly thronged with tourists.

This is a hotel that is clearly focused on quantity and not quality, which is all too common theme for the Westin chain. It has certainly lost its luster in my view.

Excellent hotel, room was a little dated, but it's down town so an older building. Check in was really slow and the mobile check in desk was unmanned meaning you need to wait in line to get your key. A minor annoyance, although this is a Westin and they should work to avoid this type of nonsense.

Good old historic hotel in a bustling location. If u want quiet, u should probably stay elsewhere. Rooms are spacious and clean. I haven't much interaction with the service staff except checkin. One thing I notice is the staff hanging around the lobby doesn't greet, which I find odd. Hotel didn't wow me but it was good.

Beautiful hotel, stunning views. Amazing hotel service. easily accessible towards transit, shopping, and more. The outside elevators are also an experience in itself, viewing the city and the ocean.

It is a hotel with only history and location. Weak amenities with no toothbrush and shave. There is no store in the hotel and you need to go to a nearby convenience store to buy. There are two convenience stores nearby. Breakfast costs $ 39, so buy a sandwich at a convenience store or eat at a cafe open after 7 o'clock. The only benefit is that there is a Starba coffee drip machine in the room and you can drink delicious coffee in the room. I think that it is unusually high when comparing service levels and charges.

Here for a conference. The accommodations for the conference meetings were awesome, spacious, and comfortable. That having been said, the rooms for overnight guests are overnight guests are way overpriced for what they are IMO. If you come here for a professional event, I recommend staying somewhere else, unless it's on your companies dime.

Currently staying in this hotel for 8 days with my family. Located inside the Union Square, which make it accessible to shopping malls, restaurants and transportation station. The rooms are clean and housekeeping is done every morning. Staff in the front desk is very approachable and bill boys are very accommodating. They charge for the wifi but we are able to use it for free because we are Marriott Bonvoy members. The bathroom supplies are being replenished every morning and so with the complementary coffee and water. Fine dining restaurant is available downstairs but they also offer in-room breakfast.

The gym is well-equipped too.

The property is beautiful, location is great. The room is clean and modern, the beds are comfortable... we switched to this hotel after being unhappy at a different one and we are very happy.

Went here for holiday tea. It was very expensive, and it might not have been completely worth it because we took very young kids who were eager to drink and go. But had we had more time to sit and savor, I think it would have been perfect. The lobby is decorated at Christmas with a big train and gorgeous Christmas tree.

Friendly staff, nice rooms.

Friendly staff, nice rooms.
Pitty they don't have free WiFi or a pool/sauna to relax after a day of sightseeing.

Stay Away! Your reservation is not guaranteed and they take no responsibility to fix it whatsoever!!
FIRE Alarms went off at 5 am. Everybody had to evacuate at 5 AM.. We all had to come down through the stairs ...from the 18th floor down at 5am. Book at Hotel NiKKO instead... better rates, and way better service!!

When we arrived Brenda at the front desk at 1 am "couldn't find our reservation", when we asked: can we get whatever room we can so we can just sleep since we just flew in from across country, she said there was no rooms available, yet on Expedia and Kayak online - it shows lots of Availability. She said the online availability is wrong. LOL. We went and booked online on the spot... finally, we got in a room ( bc we had luggage we couldn't walk across the street at another hotel at 2 am), as soon as we slept... Susanna, the manager was supposed to come and " address the issue" later which she never did... we got charged $700+ a night, when our Expedia online reservation shows $469 a night. Horrible, Horrible experience... room 910 had lots of mold & dust.. we couldn't even breathe right... we went and booked at Hotel Nikko for the rest of our stay and had the Best time ever & got treated with great respect, and great service! Something must be terribly wrong with their management and staff! Will definitely share our experience on our other business social media so nobody gets treated this way on their beautiful trip to San Fran!

Great.

Very very bad experience. I called the front desk to make a modification on the method of payment for my reservation and Janice (front desk agent) was very rude and ended up hanging up on me. This never happened to me in the past.

It was ok. The public spaces are beautiful. But my room was only so-so. The nightstand didn't have a drawer. The heat/AC made a loud clunk whenever it turned off. The weight room was to heavily focused on treadmills.

Looks nice, especially in the lobby. Food was expensive, even for San Francisco. We had to call to have maintenance fix our bathroom door and shower shortly after arriving. They fixed both in about an hour, but the problems seemed to have been there for a while. One day housekeeping took washcloths and didn't replace them, but instead left us a large stack of towels. The concierges were all very nice and energetic, and most of them had good recommendations about things to do/see in the area.

Had drinks and snacks at the clock bar. The servers and bussers were super attentive and friendly, went the extra mile. The food and drinks were absolutely delicious. We had the Poke and the prime rib sandwich. Definitely going back again.

Stuff is friendly, the room is almost clean, although we found unknown small object of clothes on the floor near the bed. If you re ok with spending a lot of money and don t count it much it s perfect: the hotel is the island of comfort in the middle of crazy SF. The rest of the review for people who do count money. Standard room is small and not as comfortable as such room could be (we ve traveled a lot across the Europe, small rooms can be very comfortable), one could use a bit more place to store clothes, something with the shelves would work nicely. Expensive internet in the rooms and breakfast is also a bit too much, there is a lot of places around where one can eat much more and better for the same amount of money. But I guess here all the money go for a very friendly service.

It's a fine hotel, clean, kind of old in some aspects, interesting elevator if you're staying on the newest side, some rooms have pretty good views. Doesn't have a restaurant. More for business trips.

Stayed here for business. Great rooms, great location being right next to Union Square so close to various shopping venues as well as restaurant choices of all price categories all around. Staff was very helpful and provided kettle and microwave upon asking. Great views from the elevators (see photo) you can experience even if you don't get a room with a view of the square.

Came here for a wedding on the 32nd floor. The people working the wedding were very professional and friendly. The 32nd floor has great views of the city. The valet staff were not very friendly or attentive during this visit and I expected much more when paying $68 for 6 hour parking.
