Very Interesting
Initially I thought the entrance fee was a bit expensive but having visited I would say it is worth the money. The way the ships history and also preservation are displayed are done really well. Visitors should allow a few hours to see it properly.

Brilliantly restored historic ship. The interior has been restored to reflect the conditions nineteenth century passengers endured, with additional displays in the museum alongside. For those who are interested in such things, the ship has an exact replica of her original engine installed. There is an opportunity for fit visitors to climb the mast. For disabled visitors there are lifts providing access to all parts of the ship as well as the dry dock. A thoroughly interesting day out.

An excellent visit. We spent three hours here and did not have time to see it all. Entered through a large gift shop into the cobbled Great Western Dockyard and it was like stepping back in time to 1843. The ship has been beautifully More

A very impressive site, resting place of the SS Great Britain built by Brunel. A fantastic looking ship which is an impressive sight and fantastic to explore both above deck and below. You can see the cramped steerage class accomodation and the more spacious luxurious first class section.
Hard to imagine living in the conditions on those long voyages to Australia.
There is a good museum section and dockside, plus a really good giftshop.
Well worth the admission price, especially when they have re-enactors on site during their special event days.

Good

Great to place to visit, especially the new Brunel section. If takes you through his life, how he achieved things and his drawings/creations.

There is even a video which takes you through his viewpoint and thoughts throughout his life with certain achievements.

Plus of course you get to go onto the ship, which is a great insight to the different classes of the Victoria era, and how they would have traveled.

Definitely recommend a visit to your SS Great Britain if you are in the Bristol area.

We went and had a lovely day husband has always wanted to go and loved it but me and kids enjoyed ourselves too. Good procedures in place for covid safety and love the fact ticket is valid for a year as we felt there was a lot more to experience than we managed in the day and we plan in going back

Much more to see than expected. Will easily keep you occupied for 3-4 hours if you take it all in.

Nice restaurant with views of the river. Suitable for most ages and access is good.

Very reasonable entry price considering the quality & quantity of stuff to do.

Nice

A fascinating visit. What a remarkable achievement in bringing this old lady back to life. I last visited in about 1978, when she was just a hull with walkways. Now it's like a step back in time with the insides recreated so carefully. Also I love the way the ticket bought yesterday at a standard sort of price for this type of visit, actually remains valid to be used again at any time in the next year. Fantastic.

SS Great Britain is a great and unique "museum".
Since the opening the museum has so much evolved!
Now you can go inside the boat and see how it was as if you were a passenger. You can go on each deck and even under to admire the boat's hull! I really enjoyed my time there. I passed nearly 3 hours watching, reading and listening to the stories told by passionate employees. And I would have needed more time there.
If you come to Bristol, you have to take a look at this wonderful place.
The dockyard is also a nice place to have a walk and see giant cranes and other dock stuff. Wonderful!

Well worth a visit, with 2 museums, the ship itself and the dry dock. Three hours flew by and we didn't even manage to see everything. The ship is particularly interesting, being a passenger steamship designed by Brunel.

Interesting exhibit on a groundbreaking vessel. Good overview of the history of the ship although I found the reversal of the exhibit timeline a little confusing (runs from present to past rather than the reverse).

Lots to see for young & old. We had a tour guide which i would recommend if possible to understand the whole story. Nice cafe/restaurant for a bite to eat there or lots if nearby places to go to too.

Lovely museum that gives a detailed history about Bristol and the SS itself is interesting to look around, it's been kept in great shape! You could easily spend a couple of hours there!

Amazing exhibition about the history of an iron hull boat covering 160 years of sailing. Launch in1843, emigrant clipper from 1852 until 1882 when converted to windjammer, 1933 when ship's life ended in Falkland Islands and 1970 when it was rescued. If you are lucky you may see the engine in motion. Full price ticket is 12.5 pounds and lasts for a year.

An interesting day out, I visited here back in the eighties and they have obviously made huge strides in the restoration process since then. It was interesting to compare the shell of the ship I remember to the renovated ship of today with cabins, a state room, several decks etc
