We visited this ER for my mother's GI issue. When I arrived, she was in the hallway, when I asked if she was going to a room they said this is where she is to stay until all the test were done. So first of all we we're right in front of the nursing station and could hear several conversations about other patients including my mother's health information was compromised. The place was dirty, and at one time biohazardous material past us that was not even covered. At one point when my mother went to get up to go to restroom she just about got run over by an ambulance stretcher.. It really felt like we were in a third world country hospital. Would not recommend this to anyone.

Best hospital in Michigan. Period. End of story. They have helped so many of my family members and friends. EVERY nurse here deserves a Daisy Award. Very friendly and caring staff. Never had a unprofessional nurse or bad staff experience. Clean, very appealing and sterile, and very up to date facility. I don't like hospitals but if I have to stay at one, Spectrum Health is the best of the best. Keep up the great work.
PS: Delivery of a baby is awesome here and God forbid you ever go, children emergency is very caring towards children.
If you want to sit and wait for 6 hours for simple care this is definitely the place for you! I am writing this still from the room waiting as 6 hours is going by I don t think this is necessary at all and every time I ask for how long they say I will get to you and they never end up even coming back! I will definitely be seeing my personal doctor now for smaller things!
I've both been a patient, and taken friends here who have been in need of medical attention. Every time I've gone the staff has been rude, unclear with medical directions and generally lackluster.
When I ask follow up questions to an initial diagnosis given by the staff, they usually give you a very short, snotty answer. And if you dare to ask another question they just cut you off and say "Youll have to ask the doctor", then they leave and the doctor never comes.
I have the upmost respect for medical professionals, and I do realize that not everybody in this hospital has this attitude, but this has been my experience here 3 times and I refuse to go there again, or recommend it to friends or family.
They're horrible doctors and overall staff at the Devos Children Hospital!! They refuse to admit my 10 month old, they assume his case is only an earache , minor cold or whatever they called it (they didn't tell me anything just simply an earache and allergic reaction!!) and allergic reaction to an antibiotic he was given. They assume the rashes and raised bumps are due to his allergic reaction, looks more like roseola with ALL THE SYMPTOMS IN MY OPINION. I would hope they would of been smart to not sent him home (as well at home I checked it four times it was between 102-103) with a high fevers running 103!! He's 10 months old!! What the h*** kind of c*** is that!?! Now he's going on 48 hours with no foods or formula and STILL VOMITS after we give him his medicines. What do you guys want? To see him to the point he can't breathe or move to be admitted?! That would be your fault!! I am outraged your staff would do is!! A child should not have to go DAYS of hunger due to sickness. That's what hospital are for!!! Ontop calling the after hour nurses do no good, their "questionnaire about his symptoms" they tell it always request for us to go in but when we do, NO DOUBT NOTHING IS DONE!! Waste of our time!! As well, teach your nurses to not forget to give medicine doses when a sick child needs it. There's no excuse to forget!!! Worst staff and system ever!!!!!!!!
My wife and I had a baby here on 6.17.19, we are very strange to deal with for hospital staff, we don't do vaccines, new born screening or hug bands(baby tether), and my wife is uncomfertable in hospitals so she likes to be home well before medical staff likes to let you go, now I called ahead and talked with them about what lengths they would go to to enforce their policies on us, some hospitals perform unlawful detentions, coercive behaviors and even call CPS illegally. This hospital was completely respectful of our rights, they treated us like royalty, they gave us a post delivery room with a breath taking view, my wife's desires were taking with utmost concern and no one tried to convince, sway or force her to do anything at all it was totally different than all other experiences we've had during child birth. We had two women who seemed to he very high up the chain of command come visit us themselves to make sure their staff were conducting themselves in a professional manner. The facilities are beautiful, the staff was very professional even as far as nurses with their stacks of responsibilities offering to grab me coffee, I was blown away. They didnt give us any problems about having a v-back birth after my wifes emergency c-section 11 years ago. Now we did have a small hiccup with the personalities in pediatrics we dealt with they didnt want to let us go, but because we didnt have the baby tether and the whole rest of the staff understood that we retained freedom of movement we basicly told them we are leaving, give us AMA forms to sign for you by the time we get down to the lobby or don't your choice and just like that we got the form and left easy peasy lemon squeezy, less than 24 hours. Good job guys, and anyone looking for a hospital, this place is fantastic, with 24 hour cafeteria, free interwebz, and staff who got their job because they want to help people.
The entire staff were so incredibly kind and thoughtful while I was in the emergency room this morning from the security guard who opened my door, to the triage nurses, to the tech that walked me to my room. Very efficient and timely as well. I was in and out in an hour and a half. Kerri Rambo my nurse and Dr.Powell were truly amazing, I can't say enough kind things about them! The new look of the emergency department and triage area definitely is gorgeously done to help make the visit more efficient. Way to go spectrum!
Had everything we needed for two different emergencies for two different family members at two different times. Safety practices here were a bit annoying yet rather necessary and employees were very helpful letting us know how we could best get where we needed to as expediently as possible.
I had a major heart attack earlier this month. I was transferred from Cadillac hospital to Spectrum health care (Butterworth hospital). The doctors and nurses were really great. They had to do several procedures on me. I was on 6 Mejer heart center. Even the lab people were really great. Couldn't ask for better care.
I left work early yesterday and went to Spectrum Health (Butterworth) ER because I was having pain in my left arm. The doctor looked at my arm. It was clear that it was not bruised or broken, but he ordered an X-ray of my arm anyway instead of checking for arteriosclerosis (or a build up of plaque in my arteries that might be causing my arm pain). He found nothing broken in the X-ray (duh) and sent me home with the very same pain that I walked into the ER with. Totally a waste of time!
I called to complain about the misdiagnosis and the person with patient relations stated quite curtly that, "Patients don't get to dictate treatment".
Avoid Spectrum Health at all costs! Find another hospital.
This was the best hospital I've ever been to. They were quick to get me in. I had emergency surgery and they were nice and efficient. When I got my room on 2 west, the nurses I had were exceptional! Ali and Jess went over and above any nurse I've ever had. They were prompt. I never had to wait for anything I asked for more than 5 minutes. They were always cheerful and smiling. I highly recommend this hospital.
This hospital has saved my life twice. Once when it was butterworth hospital. 1992 I was in a sever car accident was not expected to survive. I was in surgical ICU the doctors and nurse staff were my life savor. I had 4 children in this hospital all wonderful staff, they saved my youngest child's life when he was born. I also had a sever allergic reaction immediately rushed me back. Another time I had past out with no reason. They helped me out. I recomed this hospital to everyone. Very good hospital.
I was seen pretty quickly, but then after X-ray was sent to a waiting area where I heard the nurse speaking to others about their results in an open area! I was extremely uncomfortable with the lack of privacy. Was told by a nurse that they could speak to me in the restroom. I don't think that's exceptable. I left without finding out what was wrong.
Very impressed with the caring and skilled staff, from phone operators to nurses/doctors to specialists to pastoral care and more! Everyone was extremely accommodating while our loved one was hospitalized for an extended period of time. We received regular updates and were invited to call and speak with medical experts at any time. In a time of worry and anxiety, the staff at Spectrum Butterworth calmed our fears and excelled with patient care. We're extremely grateful!
Went in with an excruciating tooth ache (20 on scale 1-10). Left with $4585.57 bill. I interacted with hospital staff for maybe 45 min. Including CT scan. Unbelievable !! When I tried to call and talk to hospital director, they gave me the wizzard of oz treatment. No one can speak to the wizzard. No way no how. Talk about White collar crime at it's best
I have been here with my wife for the last couple days to have her induced early. All the staff has been helpful, friendly yet still professional, and extremely knowledgeable. The breakfast at the cafeteria is delicious. I would recommend this hospital to anyone who needs medical services.
I was in an accident last year about this time. I believe the people on the 4th floor at Spectrum saved my life. Hi everybody! I was the guy in the most fabulous room in he house: twice in 10 days after I had a blood transfusion. The nurses took me down to the lobby to get papers and food. They made sure I had what I wanted. Thanx Nikki and all you girls.
I have had 2 children born here and had a wonderful experience both time. All the staff and doctors were kind and helpful. Cafeteria food is so so but they have a lot of options.
Huge shout out to the staff at this emergency room. I came in this Tuesday night feeling terrible with abdominal pain. The doctors and nurses here for so supportive. They do their best to make you feel at home and comfortable. I have such a wonderful experience. They were also thorough. They checked all of my organs and covered their bases as far as what could be causing the pain. The checked me for internal bleeding as well.
I was having a hard night after all the tests and blood drawings but they kept it so light and they were so friendly. Also, shout out to the lab tech who gave me a super hero band aid. Honestly, it is the little things here that make the experience so great. My doctor was firm and knowledgable but I knew I could trust her. The nursing staff was fun.
Even waiting wasn't all that bad. They set me up in a comfy chair in a "private" (screened off area) while i finished my IV. They offered warm blankets and whatever I needed.
I am feeling so much better now and I am grateful for my experience here. Thank you to the entire staff. You guys made this visit less painful.
My family and I were treated horribly by the Er staff, doctors & nurses. I was there for over 10 hours, they never offered me anything to eat, anything to drink, they wouldn t even take me to the bathroom. And they said it was against their policy for me to have my phone or a phone in my room. I will never in my life step foot in that place again. They didn t allow me to have visitors but told people who were concerned about me that I denied visitors. They were horrible towards me, and barely treated me like I was a human.
Very dirty and gross. They need to clean!! There was trash, dirt, old hair ties, hair on the floor. Absolutely disgusting for a hospital environment. Yuck!
If I could, I'll rate the cafeteria a -10.. The young man was soooo rude to me, as if i was bothering him when I asked a question about the tenders being fried in the same grease as shrimp. ( I'm allergic to shrimp) The nasty look he gave me when i stared off by saying " excise me" ( in my soft voice). I then felt like thia was not going to go well... He was so smart to me and my 16mo old baby whom just gotten discharged from a 2nd degree burn from his neck down to his waist line.. Then at check out she was jusy nasty.. She refused to give me a receipt, she spoke to us with her mouth and nose turned up and did alot of eyes rolling. I'm asking why my food came up to so much.. Well she then turned away from me started talking to the other employees and pull out her phone charger and started to charge her phone
every thing went great Here, went to munson in tc because it was close (huge mistake) and was treated like garbage and left night before surgery and came here. Way more friendly and make sure all questions we could have are answered.. will definitly be driving the extra for an amazing hospital not an out dated rude hospital... Especially when its a emergency situation they made us comfortable and not more stressed and worried :)
Spectrum health as a whole is very well known for sending people to collections over small amounts of money without notice. I got sent to collections for less than $8.00 and it is because their bill pay system is so hard to use. Their system does not even tell you how much you owe and you have to have a bill to even find the record to pay to. They do not show all of your bills in one place, you have to search for every one and if you did not receive a bill that month you have to guess how much you owe. I did not receive a bill this month and when I tried to put in the payment amount that I normally do it only came up with an error message. The staff are usually good but their billing department is a scam!
I am incredibly impressed with the transplant program and staff, including the ICU. The doctors and nursing staff are extremely competent, very professional, communicative and personable. In the 5 months I spent there with my sister I was shocked how every Spectrum employee and support staff in the building were consistently top notch. Spectrum is on top of running a superior medical facility. My sister has received excellent care and follow up. Spectrum HealthButerworth Hospital is a hidden gem who literally saved my sisters life.
I had epilepsy monitoring unit service in February of 2017 and they are still sending me the bills even though they said that it was covered by my insurance
My children were born at this hospital recently. All the doctors, nurses, surgeons, social workers, and other staff were ON POINT! We really appreciated the knowledgable staff's cooperation and dedication to my family before, during, and after the birth of my twin babies. You guys are ROCK STARS! The facilities were pretty adequate but some updates would be nice. All and all, it was as decent as it could get for being stuck for 3 days at a hospital. In retrospect, the only complaint me and my wife had was the floating lactation consultant lady they had. She doesn't beat around the bush, which I respect. At first she came on a bit strong, but I tolerated her because it seemed like she was just passionate. By day 2 she starting getting impatiant and being condescending to me and my wife! Anyways, I'm not going to try and sum up everything she did in a Google review.. Just saying that she needs to work on her people skills, especially when working one on one with first time parents who are very exhausted, recovering from surgery, and in my wife's case emotional as it is!!! Then she "diagnosed" my kids with a condition they didn't have per a specialist that I then consulted with, which was an inconvenience, plus the condition as I learned is very easy to diagnosed (I could do it and am NO doctor). I just think she needed to chill and get off her high horse because she is in a hospitality position! Anyways, I can't say that I wouldn't recommend this hospital because I really think they have excellent care and very comprehensive NICU in the same building! One thing I'll also add was the cafeteria (prisms?) was very good for hospital food, also very well priced considering the convenience. Food staff was very nice too.
Maybe it gets better, but so far the 5 hour experience here just reinforces why we choose a smaller GR hospital. Waiting forever for a test, which wouldn't be horrible if, every once in a while, a person would stop in and give some type of an update. Nope. Nothing. Nada. At 7:50 nurse came in (only because husband buzzed for her) and said she would be in at 8:15 to take husband for test. That was 1 hour and 10 minutes ago. And no one has bothered to come in to say they weren't or why. Really? So tempting to bust him out and drive him to Metro!
Came here to visit my sister who had just given birth to her third son and I was pleasantly surprised by how easy it was to park across the street and get into the hospital. I went through the hospital up to the 6th floor where she was and everything was very clean and neat and the attendant on the first floor was very helpful in directing us to where we needed to go. The hospital rooms for small but big enough for mom and baby and daddy and a few visitors. Upon leaving we tried to exit the parking ramp with our validated parking ticket and the Machine would not take it and no one answered the assistance line so it was a good thing that we were on a motorcycle and I was able to drive around the gate. Not sure why our ticket wouldn't read but if I had any complaint it would be that no one answered the assistance line.
If you want to sit and wait in a er hallway for 5 hrs come here. If not then go somewhere else. UNBELIEVABLE!! Will never go back. You would think a hospital with the money that they have wouldn't have people waiting in hallways. I bet if your last name is devos or meijer you won't be waiting in a hallway.
Hospitalization at 8424 in 8center is a terrible experience. The nurse's sue attitude was very bad. When our baby felt unwell and asked her for help, she didn't care at all, very indifferent. We called the pager 6 times and did not take care of it. Later, other nurses came to help. I am upset that your hospital does not manage your nurse. I have already fed back these hellish experiences on facebook.
I had neck surgery at this location from Hayden M.K. Boyce, MD, FAANS. The doctor and everyone was extremely supportive with answering any questions and concerns I had. The staff at the hospital we're extremely friendly when they facilitated any of my needs while I stayed there. I cannot say thank you enough.
My father was admitted in this hospital on the8 of this month,,the nurses dididn't give my father anything like treatment nothing they look like they dont care about people's life. The worse thing I have notice there's no file next to my father that shows that this patient receives this and that.
Received a prescription to run a $10,000 indiegogo crowdfunding campaign for a life or death heart transplant - only after complete funding and mass negative coverage could we renegotiate. Goldman downgraded my credit score to junk status and my organs were merged into a complicated derivative financial product to be sold to steve mnuchin.
Always a good experience considering usually there for an unpleasant one lol but the staff are generally good compared to those of a different hospital although I've had a few not so great experiences with hospital staff when both I've been in need of medical attention and loved ones. Overall though my pick if I happen to need medical attention in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
This Hospital was terrific and saved my Mother s life. I want to Thank All the Doctors, PA s, PT s, Nurses, case workers, staff, lab workers, volunteers, Food workers, room service, house keeping - so just Everyone who cared for Olivia on the 4th floor Thank You & A beautiful parking attendant who helped me. I live in Lansing, but if I need a Hospital I will want to come here.
Let me preface this review by mentioning, I grew up with an EMT for a father and spent much of my childhood visiting him in the ER. Having said that, I brought my girlfriend here to treat severe dehydration due to an iron infusion treatment where they forgot to administer fluids afterward- and the care from the staff was near non existent. They were apathetic and very slow, in spite of having very few paitients in this trauma 1 ward with a seemingly full staff. It took 3 hours to administer 1 bag of saline and test urine. We wanted to just leave after the nurses asked 3 times if we needed Tylenol and kept forgetting to bring it in. Also, in spite of having her vitals disconnected for over a half hour, it still took hitting the nurse button and 10 plus minutes after for someone to notice. I could also overhear two male doctors or nurses speaking of a patient with delivery loudly and were going to give him a medicine they knew would not work. The PA for the morning came to explain that they have other patients, yet when we walked out only 5 other people were being seen- and most of the staff was mulling around chatting. I've never known a hospital to feel like a post office or the DMV, but that was true neglegence. Since it was a non-emergency they should have gotten her out immediately for someone who really needed treatment- but everyone is an inconvenience for them. Never again, Spectrum... I will drive myself to Metro or die trying, I guess.
I recently had bi-lateral p.e.'s and they took great care of me! They made me comfortable bc I was extremely uncomfortable and for whatever reason and felt intrusive. But they made me feel like I was at home for the small amount of time I stayed there. They also saved my life!
Came into the ER the other day with terrible Pneumonia, there was no wait to get in so I was rushed to a room. Only to see that my Doctor and Nurse really did not want to be there and provide care for me. After telling them what was going on, they left without asking us if we had questions or fully explaining what they're going to do. The Nurse returned after awhile with what I assumed was discharge paperwork. They had done no treatment and didn't even tell me to change or leave the room. They just left me there confused. Afterwards I had asked for the MD again because I had not been treated, like I was a waste of her time. Finally after much persuasion I was given medication for my nausea and asthma, something she did not put on any of my discharge papers, so I don't know what I took. I left that day humiliated and feeling sicker than before. Seriously not even one day later, I saw another Doctor (not from butterworth) who was appalled by these practices and gave me the correct care and medications because I had been improperly treated and gotten worse. This is a lawsuit waiting to happen please address on how your Doctors care for patients in the ER.
Felt some of the charges from our daughter's birth and three day hospital stay were an overreach and that she did not meet criteria for them. Disputed the charges and got a new lower bill. Called to make sure that was correct. Was told yes, that is all you now owe and will fulfill all obligations you have for that stay. So I paid. A month later get a new bill, in my daughter's name, instead of my wife's as all the previous bills were, for..wait for it..the same amount that had been adjusted off my initial bill! I am getting a professional to help me with this, but unfortunately not all people have this option or do not advocate for themselves and just pay. I had a high opinion of Spectrum until this.
I have been to many hospitals and this by far is thee best!! My daughter recently had her appendix out. From the first step entering the ER to discharge I was so impressed. The thoroughness of care that was given. The Dr's and nursing staff are by far one of the most caring down to earth group I've ever dealt with. Thank you!
Went to the hospital last night for just X-ray of my knee that I have had severe pain in. Awful experience everyone is worried about covid but they are not changing sheets in between patients shoe marks still on sheet. I had flip flops on no tennis shoes. The floor was filthy it had stones and dirt along with blood. Dust a inch thick on the tv and clock. Very nasty and not acceptable in this day in age this hospital should be shut down until it can be cleaned properly. It also had plastic parts for taking blood from another patient.
They saved my life. Came to Spectrum, driving 4 hours, for a second opinion. In one day they found what was wrong with me. 8 months of previous care from another hospital did nothing, and they discarded me. I'm now being treated for what could have been a fatal infection. All because Spectrum Health took the time to listen to me and do the proper testing. Everyone from the valet to the surgeon that saved me, we're incredible. Thank you.
Brought my wife back. The 1st time we were here it was great. We are here a 2nd time because her symptom's have not gotten better. Kidney infection, UTI. This 2nd time waiting fAR to long uncaring wait staff in the hospital ER. My wife is in severe pain in here back is killing her because she is sitting. I have asked twice about this to the wait staff in the emergency room. 3 people who came after us. They were not worse they were actually walking,, they are already in the back. Saturday the 20th, we got here 9:15pm is now 10:45pm. Think one of the names was Evan. Main problem was the triage in the front. People in back were great. They just wouldn't listen to me. Wife was in pain because of the wheel chair. It was a new type. Just kept ignoring me. Not happy. They could have offered a different chair, or a place to ease her back pain. People in back very nice.
Doctors and staff are rude and lazy and don t care about their patients. When I was pregnant my baby and I almost died because I kept telling them my symptoms and they refused to rest me and take me serious. Only one doctor listened to me and tested me and I had to deliver my baby ASAP or I would die. Never again . If you want you and your baby to live don t come here
I felt I had the best of care from my Doctor, his team, and the hospital staff! Everyone was so nice, caring, and helpful from check-in to pre-op; then recovery, and after my surgery during a four day hospital stay. Thank you 5 North for your Christ like compassion and care! I will highly recommend this hospital!
The billing department sucks that they can't find a bill... for over 3 years been trying to take care of a bill that they sent to collections and they can't even find it.... now it's on my credit as a negative remark....
My husband was just attacked by a ambulance driver after going to hospital for chest pain and asking for help terrible hospital we need help finding information on what to do about this
Great hospital. Had a pulmonary embolism while pregnant. My local hospital transferred me here. Because I was on heart monitors I was allowed to shower and wanted to actually wash my hair as I only had sponge baths for a 5 days. Once I got settled in at the ICU the nurse set up a station, washed and brushed my hair in my bed since I wasn't allowed to walk around. And my few weeks stay was great and my family was treated just great
You have to wear their thin cheap masks, doctors and nurses walk into the hospital straight from parking lot without masks, patients can only have two visitors during entire visit, don't inform family members and have little knowledge about patient wellbeing and/or whereabouts.
Based on our trip to the ER...The room we were in was gross!! Hair balls in every corner. Trash on the floor. When the head of the bed was lifted there was dirt and hair on the plastic platform. The staff was friendly though. Things were run efficiently also. A good through cleaning would do wonders.
Love love love this place. The care is second to none! After going to Munson Hospital for years, I was afraid of the treatment I might receive at Spectrum...if it was anything like Munson, I would never go back. But Spectrum was absolutely a marvelous place. THEY CARE! My father was there after an aneurysm/stroke, then my mother was there for dvt blood clots. They were treated with caring and respect. They saved my mother's leg after months of misdiagnosis elsewhere. Trust the staff here, they are wonderful!
After 3 ER visits in one week they kept telling me I was fine . I had a head injury, face was swollen and so was my neck, couldn t move my head, couldn t walk very well. They told me it s all apart of my concussion. I left there and went directly to st Mary hospital where I was admitted for 5 days for an infection, and also pnemonia. I ended up with a drain in my head for the infection. I requested all of my documents from spectrum to fight the medical bills. Looking over their notes I found multiple lies in their statements such as her gait was normal ( I left in a wheel chair) and my blood pressure was fine - which it was very low. My statements/arguments mean nothing because I had no witness on my side and I had a concussion so they said I wasn t In the right state of mind. So if you ever go to their ER make sure you record everything - that was my 4th mistake that I did not. My first 3 mistakes were visiting their ER three times. Also I asked if I could receive a discount on the tiny $1200 bill I have from them and I hit a big HELL NO. I paid it because it s my bill - but you d think after all the BS they put me through they d at least try to help me considering they collected $6,300 from my insurance and I paid my $150 copays at EVERY ER visit at the TIME OF SERVICE. This hospital could care less about their patients. They just want the money.
Nurse advocate is a scam, Do not use them, PERIOD. Sent in for an X-ray but had to "check in" at ER and they would "direct me" to the X-ray. They billed it as an ER visit and I was not admitted so insurance said "nope" . Sooooo, No x-ray, 45 seconds of "make an appointment with your health care provider" Yes a 45 second referral for the tune of $500. SCAM SCAM SCAM. The ER gets $30,000 an hour to tell you to see someone else. SCAM SCAM SCAM
After visiting a friend. I was assaulted by one of two nurses. And then 4 security guards illegally restrained and assaulted my friend and took our phone and deleted the video. Spectrum assaults disabled patients. They also have an approximate 11% infection rate. Our friend has gotten H.A.P. hospital acquired pneumonia from Spectrum at least 3 times.
AWFUL experience. I went in because I had fainted and lost consciousness from hitting my head. They ran blood work and an EKG but never once touched my head that had all the pain. Was there for 3+ hours and saw the Physican for no more than a minute. Discharged me with no answers and a diagnosis of fainting which I knew already. Could have serious damage to my head but that is no worry of Butterworth s. Spoke to customer relations and their response time is a week so hopefully my condition doesn t worsen until then. Go somewhere else!!!
Trying to pay a bill here is very hard and over complicated. They won t let you set up a payment plan over the phone anymore. The girl at billing office seemed to have very little idea as to how I was supposed to change my payment plan. I ve had decent doctors here and my care has always been nice but everything else has been a hassle. Go to Metro or Mercy Health if you can.
While my OB was great, the after care for birth at this hospital was awful. At least one physician there knew our baby had jaundice but didn t tell us. As a result, my healthy baby lost an entire pound in less than 5 days (3.5 of those we were in the hospital), and they didn t even tell us he had jaundice or do anything for it!!! I found out at the first Dr. appointment at 4.5 days, and the doc was shocked. Many of the nurses I had were flat out terrible (though I had one good one there). Very little help with being able to nurse, pump, deal with pain or anything post C-Sect. My baby was SCREAMING from jaundice the entire time and they did NOTHING. Didn t tell me that was the classic jaundice scream or treat at all. They told me my poor baby had to be poked for various blood work for the State when in reality I had a choice, it was totally optional, but they took advantage that I was too exhausted to get that, and did not provide informed consent. I do not recommend birthing at this hospital if you have any risk factors for C sect or other issues. I had an in with a fantastic practice & hospital in Chicago. How I wish I could go back and change my choices to ensure birth there, and my baby wouldn t have had to needlessly suffer. It took a month to get him back to birthweight, and I lost my ability to nurse with all the stress and needs related to getting him healthy again. Oh... and that physician who didn t tell us about the jaundice... he didn t bother to bill us through our insurance either. What a jerk!
Spectrum Health doesn't have a standard Authorization of Release of Medical Records available in Spanish. Or any other language for that matter. So people that speak any other language than English cannot access their own medical records
My niece has been burned on 50% percent and the care she has been receiving is phenomenal. Very professional and very caring. They also try tp comfort family so ll they got to focus on is the child they have in there.
5th floor in heart center was well organized & get helpful. Cardiac team & ICU are amazing. Neurology was brash & acted superior. Not impressed e With bedside manner.
At ER, had to ask the nurses 3 times to clean up my husband's head wounds which were bleeding in his eyes. After surgery for his broken arm, they did not keep his arm elevated nor fresh fresh ice packs on it. Proper after care was not fully explained either so there have been complications that could have easily been avoided.
This is the worst place to be treated at. Let's start with the laughable "valet" parking. What a joke. Those kids who work in this area need to understand what being courteous is and how to provide customer service. Acknowledge the guest when they walk up to your podium, not make them wait & give impression you're better them them or they're a nuisance. How about getting off your butt to assist a guest w/family member in a wc out the door. Or advise if you're there late in evening trying to retrieve your car from valet while waiting with family member in wc who had surg earlier in day, that hey, if you walk out that door, you cant get back in because I'm not allowed to open that door, and required to walk around to ER to get that family member in wc inside door. Then think it's humorous while sitting at your valet post, that you're standing out in cold while pounding on door to get in to get family member while waiting for car.
ER- if it's not life threatening, don't go. Antiquated & dirty waiting area & hosp facikity; worst staff I've ever seen. Long wait, poor customer service, meager treatment by a RN and PA, (never saw the sight of a Dr) and once they're done with you, they're done and they try to push you out the door. Offered no assistance to get dressed. Observed more staff huddled chit chatting behind their curtain work areas, then assiting pts with lights on, and/or waiting for staff to come back to provide service.
My girlfriend went here for surgery. Free valet parking if you have a surgery scheduled and easy check in process. Every nurse or doctor we interacted was very helpful with any questions or concerns we had and were all very warm and welcoming.
What should I do I'm currently in the er I just had a endoscopy came back to er have to wait 4 hours before I can drive I called for the doctor twice cause I have trouble understanding things and what are my rights as a paitent do I have a right to ask for a different doctor to take over til I leave at midnight the current er doctor I have now was so rude saying I'm wasting his time and quit calling the nurses I'm calling my attorney cause he been nothing but so disrespectful he need to loose his job the nurse I will say is the only nicest person here but he got me so upset I'm in the room in tears cause I have trouble understanding things and when I asked to have him explain the second time he got so disrespectful to me
I was burned very badly and was on full life support. Flatlined 4X, but they watched me around the clock until I was stable. I was completely on the machine and fully medicated for a week and a half. Then the care I got just got better and better. I owe them my life and they kept stepping up their game as needed to keep me in a positive recovery mode. I healed in 3 weeks that normally takes 2 months. They are amazing.
