Terrific Doctors, great, care , confident that my father was well taken care of.
I was referred for emergency tonsil surgery. The intake staff, doctors, and nurses in the ER were all wonderful. I wish I could use them as my general practitioner. I only wish I could have remembered the names of the wonderful staff so I could thank them personally. While I hope to never again visit an ER, I will make sure I end up at Butterworth.
Went to the er ans was immediately labeled as a drug seeket even tho i am a cancwr survivor with diagnosed medical problems. No chronic pain issues and never been on drugs. I was offered tylenol even tho records state i am unable to take it for a pe and a dvt. Drs are very rude and disrespectful especially the hospitalists
From start to finish i was impressed, i came in for surgery a couple of days ago, the staff and doctors really treated me like family, making sure i had everything i needed and even accomodated my room for the family i had with me. The food Service was excellent as well. As far as surgery goes, I'm and extremely nervous person and they pretty much made that a non-issue for me, doctor Postma is beyond fantastic if you are ever in a situation where he is your surgeon. Thanks again to all the staff, really made a scary situation for me very comfortable.
My wife was having chest pain. She was admitted and seen immediately in the ER. she received very good care and the staff was wonderful. Thank Spectrum Health!
Wow....worst ER ever. Was brought in with severe asthma attack. Had been in extreme pain due to rymatoid arthritis and degenerative disc disease. Was treated like a drug a seeker. Spent 4 hrs in er with Tylenol for pain. Admitted and was given more Tylenol. Unbelievable. Very disrespectful and uncaring.
I had an ear infection, I was check in, seen by nurse, seen by doctor, and received my prescription and was signed out and on my way all UNDER 20 minutes! Amazing. I did not have to wait 2 hours. The doctor and all staff were courteous, professional, polite, and even a little funny. Made me feel safe, welcome, and RELIEVED!!!! Would recommend it 100%
I went with my wife to this clinic which I feel very destitute, my wife arrived with an emergency back pain, the only thing the doctors did was to give her an injection that left her worse and she did not have x-rays to know the cause, she is worse with his back pain that is not removed and with the injection that gave him his leg does not allow him to do some kind of activities. Now we got the bill of $ 500 just to see the doctor's face
They are terrible I would recommend urgent care metro health hospital, I been waiting here for about an hour feel longer then an hour. This hospital became this worst hospital over the years
We went here when my son cut his finger badly. They were very helpful and took great care of him. :) He had to have surgery a week later to re-attach a tendon so they sent us to one of their surgery centers. Everything went great and the Dr and staff went out of the way to have fun with him and calm his nerves. Thank you Spectrum!
The nurse that took care of while I was there are Awesome, did everything & anything so make me feel comfortable & safe. My hope is that they all stay safe.
I've been here twice through outpatient surgery, I will be the first to say the hospitality is great. The Dr. I have is phenomenal as well as the nurses and the M.a's. They are kind, and patient with you from the experience I've had with them. Not to mention I accidentally left my phone charger behind and they mailed it out to me without me knowing anything about it. Thank you 4 North Ortho Trauma!!
no health insurance or Medicaid you'll get the boot out the door just to keep shifts going
Huge waste of time for me to drive 45 minutes in hopes of finding a good hospital. Didn't listen to my concerns and pretty much shoved off my pain. Literally sent me home with nothing. I feel like my vet would've given me more care than this hospital. Highly recommend metro or st Marys over spectrum.
Terrible service me and my wife Have been here 4 hours for a ultrasound and they haven t even came back into my room
I trusted them with my pregnancy. My baby died at 13 weeks. I found out at 17. Since it was past 12 weeks, it was considered an abortion. No doctor would take it out of me in west michigan. I had to wait days. Im extremely disappointed in this hospital, you costed me a lot of pain by hiring doctors who put their own feelings above the health and care of their patients.
And this is a place where our future doctors go to learn. What an embarrassing establishment
My adult son recently had brain tumor surgery at Butterowrth. The nurse were great but the MRI staff handled him very roughly hours after his brain surgery, and jammed the headphone earbuds into his ears before entering him into the MRI. He was in pain from surgery, very stressed and did NOT need this apathetic rough treatment.
The staff also did nothing to help calm him or help him sleep after surgery. He was awake during the procedure; no one warned us that the medication used to keep him awake during brain surgery would also not allow him to sleep for 24 hours afterward. I am sure they could have sone something to help him be calm or sleep but they ignored our requests. They also sent him home 48 hours after brain surgery, eventhough he did not feel well enough and the insurance would have covered another night.
Went to ER took 1hr 45mins to get called back to be seen .!!!
I had surgery here in September and was extremely impressed with the facilities. Everyone was the receptionist to the Nurses and surgical techs were very kind, compassionate and patient centered. They listened to me about my concerns and were accommodating with my questions. I will be scheduling any future surgeries I need here.
I am pregnant and recently had to visit the OB Triage center in the Women's Health Center for an emergency. There was absolutely no wait to be seen and I was in a room within minutes of walking through the door. The doctors and nurses were all very attentive, kind, understanding, and prompt. They listened to all my concerns and answered all of my questions. They were equally concerned about the health and safety of my baby and myself. I truly felt like more than just another patient.
This hospital has definitely went downhill since the last time I had my youngest child in 2010. It s no more than a county hospital when patients have to receive their care in the hallway. All the revenue this place brings in and this is the best you can do? Do yourselves a favor go to Blodgett!
Great people. You feel very welcomed and cared for while here. Highly recommended.
I was in ICU and the nurse's and nurse's aid's were the best. They treated me with care, respect and like a family member. Butterworth is #1..
For years Friends, Family, Acquaintances, and others I have heard horrific stories about this hospital from having their privacy violated to dying due to a misdiagnosis. I wouldn't go to this hospital if you if it were the only one around. Id google how to fix myself. Lol. My own experience was horrible. I had a nurse violate my HIPPA then lie about it. I had a witness too. That's all I will say. Thank you.
Every time I have been here( which is a lot lately) the outpatient surgery receptionists, nurses and doctors have been great to work with. There have been a few nurses who could ve been nicer to me or my family but overall they take great care of you!
Run away, don't walk! Brought my wife to Spectrum because she had a severe headache. As soon as she mentioned pain, the doctor/PA started treating her like a drug addict. So they asked a few questions and gave her some ridiculously weak pain medication.
As soon as we left, we headed to a non-Spectrum Health hospital. They ran a scan and it turned out that she had a slow brain bleed. They promptly got her to interventional radiology and fixed the problem.
These people could have killed my wife because of their horrible biases and bad instincts.Go anywhere but Spectrum Health!
Great hospital, went in for severe pain, security and nurses were nice and welcoming, went pretty fast. Dr randall Walter's was amazing! He was nice and caring, numbed my jaw and gave me something for the pain instantly. Would highly recommend this hospital and that doctor!
Horrible patient registrars, medical assistants with lack of bedside manner, but great doctors. If you can ignore being treated like crap by over half the staff, go!
Went to the ER for my pregnant sick wife. They wrote a script for a nebulizer, but didn't write a ICD 10 code. When the medical supply store called they said she was never treated there. The staff is incompetent at all levels at this hospital
Its nice knowing that when I'm sick and have a pounding migraine with a pain level of 10, I'm pushed off to the side for hours, and they said if i leave they will still bill me... i can say it with confidence that even though metro nurses and doctors suck, their service is way better and that's where ill be going next time. Ive always been loyal to spectrum butterworth, but I'm sure this time my loyalty was steered away! The only reason I'm staying is because I'm still going to billed. The most horrible service ever!!!!
Best hospital Ive ever been to. I have never felt so safe in my life. They didn't discharge me wo finding out what was wrong with me (like other hospitals *ahem* Mercy?) All doctors, nurses, specialists were extremely professional and knowledgeable. I am so relieved to be in good hands. Thank you
Would rather give zero stars here. I have had many experiences and would highly recommend MERCY HEALTH instead. Staff not very friendly, Doctors are cold as ICE, all about themselves, Zero customer focus. Horrible horrible place. Avoid at all cost.
Terrible experience! They brought my daughter out of surgery and took her to the recovery area and didn't tell me. Sam Frens followed me with a wheel chair and ran into the back of my feet (like a child with a shopping cart) The nurses lied to my daughter. They told her I would not come back to the recovery area with her, but they didn't even give me the option.. This hospital is terrible I would never recommend going there.... Mercy heath and Metro is so much better.. if you go to Spectrum you are only a number.
Diagnosed my son with osteomyelitis last August. Sent him home on oral antibiotics. Never treated it correctly. He went septic nearly died in February. Thank God we went to St Mary's where the doctors actually treated him. He is still recovering after a surgery. But in good hands. Completely disappointed.
I was an inpatient for 3 weeks and the staff was wonderful! The nurses, nurse aids, etc were awesome!
Don't use the valet they have some one with sticky fingers an they won't return your calls so what ever valet took message didn't give it to his supervisor its pretty pathetic that you have to have people stoop that low that they have to steal from patients or their medical drivers
The care at this facility maybe excellent but it is very difficult to contact providers. I've been on hold to speak to an operator for 15 min and have yet to reach a live person. Perhaps there is a malfunction of the phone system but it's very difficult to coordinate care when you can get anyone on the phone. This issue needs to be addressed.
Cashier can't figure out how to give receipts after they take your money, and the wifi acceptance screen won't come up on the computer, and no one can figure out who to call. I hope this level of incompetence only reflects on the idea all the valuable resources are put into patient care, and doesn't reflect on the entire operation.
The front desk person was actually really friendly and great service but the doctor was awful she showed little interest in me as a patient my advise work on you poker face Doc !
Saved my life multiple times. Excellent staff, professionals who legitimately care
They have the worst nursing staff at this Hospital. I was a patient there for 8 days and I chose to get discharged early because the patient care was so bad from the nurses. I actually had to go to another hospital to be taken care of. I had 3 AMAZING nurse's my whole stay and Grayson was one of them. He SHOULD be training a refresher course on how to treat and take care of the patients. Maybe the nurse's there should treat all of the patients like they would like their families to be taken care of. I will NEVER go back to that hospital again!!
I was spectrum emergency had to wait outside ( car ) no biggy for me but an elderly lady set in parking garage from 930 till three waiting to here from someone I gave her spectrum number come to find her husband was admitted seems to me that the security could get her phone number or give elderly people the number to call
Many years ago I went there because my newborn wasn t breathing well. They told me I was a worried first time mom. I had four kids at home. I went to st Mary s where they diagnosed him with laryngomalacia. Just recently my father went there with Covid. After ten days we had an ambulance bring him home so we could care for him. He was dehydrated and in the same underwear we sent him in! They never changed him!!!!! He had an infection and it was disgusting. I could go on but you get the point. I do not recommend this hospital.
Had a billing problem. Had a payment plan set up. Then the hospital decided to turn bill in collections. Call they could not fine any record of payment plan set up. .... "Sorry was the best they could do.. " So now you have bad mark on your credit because someone in the bill department did not follow though with there own job..... chatted with one supervisor and she said there was no one else higher. (which I fine hard to believe)
I recently had a baby here. They put the wrong drs name on all of my info. I asked them to change it several times. Which they didnt, now all the keep sakes have the wrong doctors name on them. Then I left my laptop charger in my room. I called within a hour. It was gone of course noone seen it.
My father had a accident on November 6th had sever concussion by the time he got to hospital he had sever brain damage the staff was very polite to my father and family we lost my father on November 8th they we very sympathetic to us one of the doctors hugged and comforted me while I cried over my lose on my father (best friend)they are very awesome and I admire everyone in nuroscience icu thank you
Inpatients will be treated very well here. Heck, i enjoyed my stay despite the pain.
It's clean and big. And the staff are very friendly
I have written a 5 page letter to the president and CEO of Spectrum on October 30, 2013. This letter detailed our experience and the traumatic experience my spouse went thru as a patient at the Butterworth emergency campus.
If anyone bothers to read this I will be happy to forward it to Spectrum again. I am appalled by the poor care my spouse received and the lack of response from the CEO, whom I expect to respond. I am not looking for a response from the PR group, a manager or someone in the lower level of this organization. I hope the letter reached his desk and was not put aside. The letter was addressed to him and should be answered by him. As of this date we have not received a response.
Update - The hospital was not apologetic at all in their response to us. The bill stood as was. No action to apologize was put forth and in every conversation that I have had since with patients sent to this ER facility...the story reads pretty much the same as mine. I continue to rate this hospital 1 star - in fact - they don't even deserve that. Please choose another facility if you need urgent care.
Tony Cadahia.
Please please take good care of my mom on Tuesday and the 7th.
Everyone was wonderful. I mean everyone. I felt like I was staying in a high-end hotel.
Rude ER doctor and incompetent nurses! Never again will go here. I rather drive the extra hour to get to Metro!
Terrible service Mary the nurse is extremely rude! Mercy health hospital is much better. Staff is more personable. I would never recommend Spectrum health!
My brother inlaw was on life support they were very nice to the family i was impressed when it came time to unhook him they all stood in the hallway and as we followed behind him going to the next step It made me cry happy he was getting a fair well from all i just want to say thank you to the 5th floor
They do great work, and really made us feel like the hospital revolved around us.
I went in for treatment through the ER and I recieved care in the triage!! I have an illness that was not considered valid...I was discharged without any prescriptions for the obvious situation! I went right over to Saint Mary's and they took my health seriously and prescribed me much needed medicine! I am switching my care to them!! Very dissatisfied with Butterworth Hospital!!!
My grandma has been in the hospital for 2 days now and has been having stroke after stroke in their care!!! And they aren't doing anything about it!!!! Worst ever
Butterworth hospital is an amazing place. I'd feel comfortable having my family members taken care of here. The cafeteria is open most of the night which is nice too.
The best joke in Grand Rapids,a non funny joke of course. You'd be better off treating your loved ones at home. Unless you're wealthy, you'll get good care then.
