Very good food, short wait at busy time. Polite staff and good service.
Randomly went here for lunch. Found they had a buffet for $7.49. Can't beat that! Good pizza and fried chicken. I would like to come back here in summer. They have a great location on the water with an outdoor patio. It had about 3 feet of snow on it today.
John and Megan best bartenders iv see so far there good food great place
Best pizza I have ever had! They told us there was an hour and a half wait but we got seated in 20 minutes! Live music and outside seating creates the best atmophere! Go eat there people! :D
Took over 20 minutes to get noticed. Ordered lasagna waited another 30 minutes for the cold food. Mentioned it tasted chemical a cook with arms covered in tattoos came out to say it was fine. Later that night I got severely sick. I was told later the dishes were not rinsed properly it got 6 of the 8 of us sick we will never return
Got take out. Thin crust chicago style was a little underdone, kinda gave out an Ellio's texture but the sauce/cheese/toppings were high quality and tasty. Family garlic cheese bread was the equivalent of a full loaf that came with 2 cups of marinara...very delicious. Lastly the Tiramisu for two might be $8.99 but it's one of the best I've had + about 2lbs and enough for at least 4!
Since there is only the hostess station when you go upstairs, if its crowded you can find yourself waiting to tell them you are ready for pick up. Then they have to go in the kitchen to get it. Maybe a more efficient way to streamline this process would be good but overall enjoyed the food.
Pizza was good, but when the waitress brought our refills she spilled my drink on me. But I guess that s ok
Service was very good with limited staff, food was good.
Had the fish fry. Cod was really good, the perch was OK; small filets and I had bones. Neapolitan pizza was really good, highly recommended.
Food is amazing but the wait sucks. Also make sure your waiter doesn't misinform you about the buffet being open to everyone. It's not and costs $11.99 per a person. Our waitress told us to help ourselves to the buffet then after we did we were told the price it costs and how it's not open for everyone. She admitted she was wrong but we still had to pay for it though we were misinformed. Food comes out relatively quick though!
This place is amazing !!! Food is ligit, huge portions !!! So so good !!!
Had a great time with great service and a wonderful view!
Food and service we're great ! Had a band playing while we were there. I asked for gluten free fries and they gave me a large bowl of.them. cooked to perfection in my opinion. Everyone else with me.loved their food.
Great view and a wide variety of beers. The food was below average. If you come here, just grab a drink and soak in the view.
Always get pizza and breadsticks here when in town. They do a great job.
Great views of the marina an the only 1000 foot dry dock in the great lakes. Good place to watch "the winter" fleet comes to hoole up when shipping shuts down on the Great Lakes.
We ordered 2 pizzas and they were both cold, and one was lopsided in the box. Plus our dilvery was late! We ordered a shrimp dinner as well and they they were cold along with the fries..
Server was friendly. Menu had a lot of selections. Good beer selection and great view of the Bay.
Absolutely love their pizza! So fun to be able to sit outside, and dog friendly to boot! Service is a little slow but enjoy a tropical drink outside and you won t care. Balsamic glaze on a pizza is definitely worth an extra dollar.
Great place to go in the winter as well and eat inside obviously where it is warm and cozy. Hang out at the bar first and enjoy an excellent drink.
My wife and I recently stayed in Sturgeon Bay with our dog on a get-away trip, and we saw this place when we were walking nearby on our first day. They had live music and it seemed to be pretty popular, but we were not able to check it out.
However, on our last day before we headed out of town, we decided to grab lunch here. We had our dog with us, so we sat on the outside patio and listened to the live music (which was great). There were quite a few other parties with dogs as well, so it's definitely dog-friendly.
We decided to try the FUNGO mushroom Neapolitan Pizza, which has tomato sauce, mushrooms, and mozzarella baked in a wood fire oven. It was terrific! The cheese flavor was wonderful and the crust was light and crisp. Our waitress was attentive and friendly, and we greatly enjoyed our lunch (except for the very strong wind, which prompted us to grab our jackets from the car).
Always love Sonny's! Best mid day when you can sit on patio with a view & less people, but we always have great service and the food is wonderful
BEST PLACE IN TOWN! Came here on the suggestion of our Hotel staff, and it didn t disappoint! Right on the water, staff was incredible, especially Kenny. He went above and beyond as it was my Birthday and he made it extra special! Don't hesitate to stop here and check out the brewery or for the great food.
Went there for memorial day on Sunday and had a great meal! The buffet is a great deal would highly recommend and the chicken alfredo is a buffets worth of food as well. The pizza in the buffet was delicious so can imagine the reg pizza would be the same
Food was good but the service was not. We stood at the entrance for several minutes with several employees walking around no one as much as looked at us. Side note it was not busy at all..
Great Pizza, also location, game room for kids in lower level, FREE delivery too.
New: 7-4-17 new outdoor bar and patio is a great addition, killer Mai Tai too.
Here twice in the same weekend. First time for a large group gathering where they did a pizza buffet type thing. Pizza was good and staff did a good job keeping it and drinks full. Second time was just two of us. Chicken Alfredo was pretty bland and the chicken not that great of quality. The door county cherry dessert was very good. Waitress wasn't the greatest and it wasn't busy at all. She would walk by our empty glasses/plates multiple times with empty hands before doing anything about it.
The food was amazing. Just disappointed that none of the workers were wearing face masks. I felt they could have done a little more distancing outside.
If you're hungry stop in. Pizza is great and so is the buffet.
Just placed an order for Sonnys. Would ve been five stars but the person I spoke to before hung the phone on me and was extremely rude. I called back hoping to talk with the person to clear up the misunderstanding but the person was too much of a coward and put me on with someone else. Luckily that person was more professional and more accommodating. Seems this person could use a lesson on professionalism.
Delicious food and reasonable. Waitress was very prompt with our party of 18. Will be back.
Great food and great service. The buffet was a great way to try a variety of pizzas and they had a customizable coke machine so you can have any flavor you choose.
The bread sticks are better than Olive Gardens, and the pizza is fresh with lots of options, not to mention how amazing it is.
Visited while on a recent trip to Door County and we were very pleased. The portions are generous and the food is excellent. All of the staff we encountered was friendly and knowledgeable. Definitely on a list of return visits when back in the area for us!
As others have said, absolutely no precautions were taken for covid-19 by staff and restaurant guidelines. It literally was ms. rona central inside the place, I cannot
fathom how anybody concerned for their own/other healths can dine inside. food took 8298492 minutes to come; poor decision making on our part to come here. Unethical business practices and piss poor service.
Love this place. Nice view while eating. Staff is friendly and kind. Food it good. Reminds me of Chicago food. Lol. Pizza is good to.
Excellent deep dish pizza and enjoy their new (additional) location on the channel. Staff is friendly and attentive, but we waited 40 minutes for our 2 small pizzas. It will be hard to develop a great reputation with that level of service.
Love a good lunch buffet with salad and pizza. Servers are always nice and never overly busy.
Food and service was fine. Called ahead to see about options (considering the pandemic). They still have dine-in, which was a surprise, but we decided to try it since our destination was a ways away and carryout would get cold. It was shocking to see no COVID-19 protocol at all. No masks, tap drinks, typical seating, still have a buffet and salad bar, no dustbin by bathroom door so you have to touch door handle on the way out, menus and condiments on tables with no sanitization between guests... It seems a bit like people are in denial here.
Went for buffet. Food was cold. Fly's everywhere even on food. But best view in Sturgeon bay.
Amazing food and atmosphere. Always a go to for our fam when we are in town
Had to wait like an hour and a half for pizza. When our pizza came, it seemed misshapen and was very mediocre. There are definitely better pizzas in Door County, will not try again.
Ordered online for delivery. I can understand when the kitchen is busy and that my delivery was over an hour and a half from when I ordered. The part that gets me is that everything was cold. If its going to take that long for delivery, at least it be hot, or lukewarm. Don't get me wrong, I like Sonnys when we go in, but WILL NOT order online again.
food was great! We did take out without knowing we could dine in so we asked to be seated but sat at the table for an hour with no one asking if we wanted to drink something. So 2 star for that
Awful service. Subpar & over priced food. Will not return.
I feel bad giving 2 stars but I went up from my original 1 star. I had to chase down a server after sitting at our table for 20-30min. When she finally showed up she seemed annoyed we had chosen to eat there. We saw her once more to deliver our drinks and then never saw her again until I got a check. Someone else delivered our pizza, that was meh, undercooked in my opinion but it was OK. I caught our "waitress" as she ran by to get a bill but she never came back again. The rest of the wait staff was great and helped cash me out. I would've loved a couple more drinks but never even got asked.
I gave this place a 3 star ratings because it has a great view. I came for the lunch buffet The food was nothing great but the disgusting things was the "clean plates" weren't clean. The people in front of me picked up clean plates and the plate beneath had food on it. The plate I picked had crusty stuff all over it.
This place has great pizza. Unfortunately the latest time we went there we decided to do a half and half pizza. This ended up being made incorrectly and us getting a completely wrong pizza.
We decided since the pizza was usually really good to try the boneless wings. Big mistake. The wings looked and tasted like they were sitting under a heat lamp for hours. The sauce was dry. the chicken was dry. 1/10 wings.
It's a really cool place with a nice atmosphere and a great view of Sturgeon Bay. We all had the buffet, with was good, but nothing to really write home about.
Pleasant place, amazing views, good food and a nice staff.
They have the most amazing food! (Portion sizes are fantastic as well!) We always stop here at least once while in door county!
The pizza is mutch better than the plates of dinner, but salad bar was yummy and staff was kind!
Awesome! Huge portions. Be hungry when you visit Sonny's. Beautiful location.
We ordered the Sonny s signature pizza with thin crust. It was very good we will eat here again. Their menu has a variety of pizzas & Italian dishes to choose from. Also ordered 2 Beer Up knee high beers. The brewery is downstairs & this particular beer was very smooth & easy drinking. A beer list includes a good variety of beers from Beer Up & other Door County breweries.
Great buffet. Very busy on weekends and Fridays in the summer.
DELICIOUS. I lived in Jersey for 10 years and authentic Italian is hard to find in the Midwest. My husband and I shared the mushroom ravioli and got cherry pie for dessert. We almost went back today but decided we should try something new haha. You won't be disappointed here!
Great location. Pizza was ok. Wish the staff were more friendly. Smile is the best ornament that someone can wear.;-)
Good food, great view, friendly staff. Great pork sandwich
Pizza overall good. Would have been better if the pizza was fresher for the $7 all-you-can-eat bar.
Great pizza but chicken a big ripoff will cost you 100 bucks to feed only 4 people. Pizza yes rest of food NO NoNo
Beautiful new building, very pleasant service, but pizza was middle of the road and the 103 flavor coke dispenser ran out of most of the diet flavors I tried.
Had the pizza - loved the food! Our waitress was super friendly and attentive. The only downside was there was no available spots outside. But really liked it a lot and would definitely go back if we find ourselves back in the area!
Great Italian food and pizza plus what a view and location! It makes it 10x better when there is a ship going through the canal. Very spacious inside and unique. Super friendly wait staff, too.
Terrible food was cold on the buffet
Chicken hard dry and cold
The girl told the kitchen and they said we can warm yours. If I wanted warmed up food I would have stayed home to eat
Gravy cold. Pizza cold. Chicken cold
Never going there again. 10.99 for cold food
Holy Cannoli make sure you bring your appetite, because you re going to want everything on the menu! Sonny s is a convenient stop on the way to or out of the upper Door County area but it should also be on your destination list too especially if you love beer, pizza or pasta. We tried a little bit of everything the cheese curds (what can I say, I m a curd nerd!) were rich and crispy, the bruschetta was bright and fresh, and the burrata was creamy and had a great acidity from the balsamic. And then we got some pizza (and a pasta to split!). My husband opted for the Quattro Fromaggi (11 and a great size as a personal pizza ) with imported OO flour from Italy. I was dying to try the cauliflower crust so I got a pie with cheese, green pepper, onion and sausage and oh my word it really was the best cauliflower crust I ve ever had. Didn't not taste like regular pizza crust (aka it did!). It was amazing. I would come back just for the crust so I could feel a little bit better about putting away a whole pizza! Also I have to admit we couldn t finish the pesto gnocchi but it was rich, fluffy and chewy like any delicious pasta dish should be. We also tried each of the 3 beers on the menu from their downstairs Bridge Up Brewery my favorite was the Escarpment pale ale. Can t wait to visit again in the summer they have big plans for their outdoor areas, food truck & more! Also PS the portions really are huge - and they heat up really well. Perfect for leftovers.
Cool location but food is just so-so. Stick with the pizza if you want a better experience. Pastas and sandwiches are pretty blah.
Their standard pizzas are really good, but where Sonny's really shines is their neapolitan and margherita pizzas, and their pasta. I had the best spaghetti and meatballs of my entire life here (spaghetti and meatballs is one of my favorite dishes, and I use it as a gauge for comparing italian-american restaurants). I have had a lot of spaghetti and meatballs in my time, and Sonny's still reigns undisputed in my opinion (2 years later). The pizzas I've had at Sonny's are great, as are the wings. The alfredo and other pasta dishes are also all top notch. The staff is very friendly and fast, and the atmosphere and views are excellent. Love this place!
I got there linguine with clams and white cream sauce and it was delicious and they give you a lot
