Megan Zink Review of Sonny's Pizzeria

Holy Cannoli make sure you bring your appetite, because you re going to want everything on the menu! Sonny s is a convenient stop on the way to or out of the upper Door County area but it should also be on your destination list too especially if you love beer, pizza or pasta. We tried a little bit of everything the cheese curds (what can I say, I m a curd nerd!) were rich and crispy, the bruschetta was bright and fresh, and the burrata was creamy and had a great acidity from the balsamic. And then we got some pizza (and a pasta to split!). My husband opted for the Quattro Fromaggi (11 and a great size as a personal pizza ) with imported OO flour from Italy. I was dying to try the cauliflower crust so I got a pie with cheese, green pepper, onion and sausage and oh my word it really was the best cauliflower crust I ve ever had. Didn't not taste like regular pizza crust (aka it did!). It was amazing. I would come back just for the crust so I could feel a little bit better about putting away a whole pizza! Also I have to admit we couldn t finish the pesto gnocchi but it was rich, fluffy and chewy like any delicious pasta dish should be. We also tried each of the 3 beers on the menu from their downstairs Bridge Up Brewery my favorite was the Escarpment pale ale. Can t wait to visit again in the summer they have big plans for their outdoor areas, food truck & more! Also PS the portions really are huge - and they heat up really well. Perfect for leftovers.
