Checked in great, called down for new sheets as there was hair on ones in room. Thermostat didn't seem to do anything at night, very warm and uncomfortable. Left pair of shoes under desk called Sunday and person whom answered was rude and said didn't have shoes I know 100% I left them under desk to the left of chair.

First room made us both sick with allergic reaction. I was not aware when booking that this hotel accommodates animals. Would never have booked if I d known.

NB to managment: Deep cleaning after pet stay would have to include steam cleaning walls, ceilings, furniture and curtains. Animal dander sticks to everything. In other words, separate floors for pets and people whose health is affected by them. Do some research.

Someone will have to die before this crazy trend is stopped. I hope a law suit will damper enthusiasm to please the moaning minority of pet owners .... My son is severely allergic to animal dander and asthmatic.

Second room was an adjoining room, next to party animal who kept us awake, so will be glad to leave this place today.

Staff are very friendly and helpful. Not their fault hotel policy puts human rights after pet owners.

Very cozy, very clean. Friendly service. Would definitely recommend! In great walking distance to The White House, Washington Monument and The Lincoln Memorial. Lots of nice restaurants in the vicinity as well.

I had a wonderful stay. Room was clean and comfortable. Staff was frendly and provided great service to me any time of the day and night.I recommend Sofitel if you are staying in Washington DC.

I am in love with this hotel and its staff. This was my first trip to DC, my husband and I's second anniversary, and we were in DC for a business trip. The hotel could not have been more gracious to us. I felt welcomed from the moment I stepped out of the Uber. Everyone we met with, talked to, helped us, was always so kind, helpful, and cheerful. The room was exceptionally clean and new, and all the perks given to us during our stay made us feel like we were the only guests in the hotel. Which we absolutely were not! I have recommended this hotel to everyone I have talked to about our trip and am so excited to visit DC again and stay at the Sofitel Hotel.

Why no coffee machines in rooms? Serving to 9 in the bar doesn't cut it. Desk person specifically said specialty coffees like mocha and latte were available for room service but that was false. We were charged for a valet parking night we never used; that's uncool. Also the bar needs better beer. Finally, $6.60 for mini bar Coke! Come on now.

My husband and I traveled to DC and stayed here for our anniversary. We were professionally greeted and taken care of the entire length of our stay. Courteous, clean, friendly, and attention to detail. A quick walk to the White House. I will stay here again.

Had to walk over a half mile from parking garage to hotel. The surrounding area was very sketchy. Saw someone on drugs attack another woman by the parking garage they sent me to. No one came to great us and help us with bags. Not an experience I would want anyone to have to deal with.

We were very well received, the valet even spoke to us in French.
The services were great and your employees were super nice and courteous.
Our room was very nice. Our breakfasts were very delicious.
We liked the location very much, we were close to everything.

Excellent hotel in an amazing location DC. It s a block away from the White House in a very central and important part of Washington DC. The rooms are very nice and the staff is very professional. It s great to stay in this hotel and to wake up in the middle of this beautiful city and exiting location. It s has a great restaurant in the hotel and a very nice bar. There are amazing restaurants all around and within walking distance.

They gave me a room much lower than the one I had reserved, but they refused to refund the difference. The wifi was not working and I had to go to work in the middle of the night to a bar across the street.

Prices are to exorbitant in the mini bar. 12oz can of coke $6, little liquor bottles $12 or $13, gummies bear little container $13, little can of Pringles $10. The can isnt even 4inch tall with chips. Evian spring water $7 for a 10oz bottle
We got a junior suite. The TV is huge but not located in a convenient spot where you can look directly in front of you.
I will not be back. Spend you money elsewhere

Nice property but a standard room is pretty small for a couple with almost no space to hang clothes (they will bring you a mobile rack, though). Nicely appointed otherwise and a great location.

This was our third stay at this property. The level of service it always top notch. The rooms are comfortable with great bathrooms. This location is perfect for our needs. We can walk to all attractions and also the Washington Design Center where I do business.

The staff is friendly and helpful and the rooms are clean, stylish and comfortable. Do not book the executive suites, several are right off the elevator and very noisy. The food, unfortunately, is not great. The staff, atmosphere, and location are prime. Easy walking distance to the White House, Washington Monument, and Dupont Circle.

We came into town to celebrate our new engagement. Upon checking in we were greeted, we were congratulated and upgraded to a top floor suite! The room was very large, comfortable, beautiful and very accommodating. We went out for lunch and when we came back, the turn down serve had made these lovely towel swans on our bed. (With a note saying it was her first time making those- very thoughtful, very sweet) If that wasn't enough, later in the afternoon, the bell rang delivering fresh chocolate dipped strawberries and a bottle of cold water. They had cards for us to play and ice cream and midnight brought by room service. The drinks at the bar were very tasty and breakfast on our last morning was delivered quickly so we could catch our light. Delicious to boot! (Try the Nutella crepes and chocolate croissant) The Sofitel and staff made for a wonderful weekend getaway and made us feel very appreciated and special. Thank you to everyone!

Snagged a room for $160 on Priceline at the last minute and it was a steal! Beautiful hotel with top-notch service. Nice little patio and bar. Room was clean, well-appointed and chilled nicely. Wifi was excellent. Love the friendliness and the various languages spoken by other guests. Well worth the regular price and would certainly go back.

This is a really nice hotel right next to the Whitehouse. Their service is as you would expect from sofitel nothing but the best ! Highly recommended by Michael and Anna from Ingatestone UK.

Two stars for the great location and most staff I encountered were nice, but this is NOT a 5-star hotel by anyone's standards. The towels are sparse and threadbare, the bed, much too soft (and my back hurt every morning), parking cost $65/day (!!!) and the room and hotel, itself, dark and dated. Some problems with the room and extra charges assessed by another staff member, were remedied by the hotel manager. Even so, I would much rather stay elsewhere if seeking a 5-star experience. If half the price, I would still find the rooms and hotel kind of depressing.

This hotel is advertised as Your Luxury Hotel in Washington far from it. We are a family of 5 and stayed in room (620) with 2 double beds and a sleep sofa. The sleep sofa mattress had stains on it, the double beds didn t have a fitted sheet just a mattress pad with a flat sheet over top and no additional flat sheet, so it was just you and the comforter. There were no washcloths had to call and request those and bedding for the sleep sofa. Only 2 pillows for each bed and they were so small! The refrigerator in the room was DIRTY! At a time when places are supposed to be super clean, it was a bit shocking.
Staying here was such a disappointment and I do not recommend staying here. I do have photos. We stayed 12/20/2020 for one night.

For more than 48 hours, I was able to take full advantage of the services of the Sofitel Lafayette Square in Washington, accompanied by all its staff attentive to my every need.
Thank you to everyone for your availability and more particularly to Hamed, Patrick, the receptionist, all the bar staff.
All my thanks and good memories to you Mrs. Byrne.
I will be back with great pleasure.
Sincerely, everyone.

The valet parking is confusing, i need to go around twice and cannot find anyone to park. Check in very quick, room is average size, clean, ask for crib and they deliver quickly. The USB and electrical plug on the night stand does not work. Shower head is slow and weak. No space in the fridge as all occupied by the pay items with sensor, basically useless if you want to store some milk for kids. Bed is comfy. Location is well. Noise from the alley woke me up at 6:20am when they clearing their garbage. I can hear the room next door too.

Drove to DC from North Carolina for a quick weekend trip. While our hotel room was beautifully appointed and very comfortable, and the front desk staff were wonderful upon check in. I feel this property is not worthy of the 5 start rating they claim. I would have given this property a 10 except for our experience with the valet damaging our car and the way in which it was handled. It appears a valet driver hit a curb and ripped up the front bumper. We noticed the damage on our drive home when stopping for gas and notified the hotel who requested we file a damage report form. Four weeks later, after repeated emails asking about the "investigation" status, they finally responded that the damage should have been reported before leaving the property and they bear no responsibility. They didn't even offer to refund the $65.00 valet fee. In hindsight I realize now it was strange the valet holding the keys gave them to another attendant to take us to our car. The car was pulled forward of the hotel entrance along the street curbside so we didn't see the front of the car. We had used the text service to have the car brought up while we checked out of our room so it was waiting for us when we exited the hotel. That valet knows what he did, there's no way he wouldn't have heard and felt the bumper scrape the curb but I'm sure he was afraid of loosing his jobs so said nothing. So caution to anyone using the valet service at the Sofitel in DC. The curb in front of the hotel is high, watch your car being brought down and inspect if before leaving. From now on I will be sure to carefully review my car when picking up from a valet! I have used valet services for over 25 years in San Francisco, New York, Los Angeles and Chicago and never had any issues. I have also stayed in many 5 and 6 star hotel properties around the world. I pay a premium because I know the service and experience will be impeccable and trouble free. The way the situation was handled is certainly not worthy of a 5 star property. The valet service they employ should hold themselves to the same standard as the rest of the property and should have disclosed their mistake. Very disappointed.

Large, comfortable rooms with friendly staff (who speak French for the ambiance). The hotel is located in a prime location at the heart of DC and across the street from an awesome seafood restaurant.

Great hotel. Room was clean and quiet, well laid out with power and usb outlets. Staff pleasant, polite and helpful. Great breakfasts and location. Must find reason to return!

Bar was under renovation when I stayed (Feb 2018) but rooms and overall decor is gorgeous. Rooms and bathroom very spacious. Perfect downtown location. Yummy breakfast options. Would stay again.

Not quite 5 star. Just little things, like limited staff at front desk, having to ask for refilled toiletries in room, running out of guest umbrellas when weather turned bad. Not up to par for Sofitel, and not (really) a 5 star property.
