Parked my car by it to walk to the white house. Choice spot.

The reception staff were very welcoming and helpful. The room was very comfortable in every way except for the lack of an available fridge. I did not want to make a fuss but I needed a fridge to store some food to support my need for gluten free foods that were not available on the menu nor in my ongoing travel.

it is close to most DC attractions and the white house is a five minute walk away

The Sofitel staff is absolutely fantastic. I went there for my surprise engagement weekend and they helped me out with everything from the room, flowers, special services to restaurant and venue recommendations. Last but not least, the location is perfect.

Was a huge fan of Sofitel until this one! The room was nice and clean, the staff was nice as well. However management is lacking allot! Non of the windows open and there is no air condition!!!!!!!!! The air is blowing but it's not fresh air. Heating in the corridors and common areas. It was so warm in our room that my face cream melted. In general we prefer 65F during the night, but the temperature in the room never went below 70. The air was stuffy and I woke up with the headache both nights. I don't get it, since when in the USA hotel management makes all the choices for us? They have their own plan and it's definitely not saving money, energy or environment.
We arrived after a 5 hours drive, I got hungry and wanted something light. Onion soup was sour, have no clue what they put in it to make it so sour , unless the broth was spoiled. Ordered cheese plate, sat in the bar area for an our waiting, and nothing. Complained at the reception, asked them to deliver the plate to my room. The did, half an hour later and did not even bother to do it free of charge, charged me $28 for cheese platter????? Outrageous, in my opinion!!!!!!!!!!! I felt they just don't care. We left a day early, got another runaround, but in the end I was glad we got out. Really sad!

Great service, room was great, as were the amenities. The entrance is a little hard to see from the street so keep a close eye out.

This was easily one of the nicest rooms I've ever stayed in and certainly the biggest King Bed room (aside from a suite) that I've seen. Very clean, helpful staff and attentive valet services. I also very much enjoyed their breakfast, although it can get very crowded on weekend mornings so potentially expect a wait.

Very attentive staff. Excellent location. Love the art deco design. This is the only place I would consider staying when in DC.

On my second stay I confidently claim that the excellent, almost ummatched location of this hotel does not couple with an exceptional service quality nor with pratcial room settings.

-called night before for breakfast delivery- not done. never showed up. when i called they said they didn't have the order
- asked the concierge for a recommendation for dinner. after driving 6 hours with 2 children. concierge gave me a recommendation and said i didn't need a reservation. I went directly to the restaurant - hour wait without a reservation.
- called to pick up my car- 45 mins in advance. went to pickup my car. they never sent anyone to get it.

got the feeling that no one was listening. will never return

There was a stain on our curtain that was unsettling. The charging outlets on one of night stands didn't work. We contacted Henry at the front desk who told us to meet a valet at the front entrance of the hotel, but there wasn't anyone there. We drove around because we thought maybe we were at the wrong entrance, but after driving around the building several times we were absolutely sure that there was no valet anywhere. I got out of the car to talk to the front desk while the boyfriend tried to find a place to park. The issue was resolved, but it definitely was an inconvenience for us. After that ordeal, room service was unavailable. (I'm sure we would have made it in time if not for the trouble parking.) The snacks made available in the room were quite literally 1000% overpriced. $10 for a $1 can of Pringles. We were also told we'd have a view of the city, but our view was obstructed by the offices of the American Bar Association. No city view. The room was otherwise comfortable. The bed was especially plush and enjoyable. The bathroom was beautiful aussi. I unfortunately can't rate the Sofitel five stars or even four because of the unmet expectations.

We only visited Sofitel for late night drinks and the french embassy event there, however the location was very clean, the service was prompt, and the drinks were decent. Overall the location had a better than average bar for the late night crowd that people should look into if they are looking for a classier vide than most street bars

Well, great location but the hotel is expensive for what it is

I was very disappointed in my stay at the Sofitel in DC. I have stayed at the Sofitel before and the service at the hotel from start to end was extremely disappointing. The staff appeared burdened to help us with our bags and didn't help bring them to the room, the service at the restaurant was extremely slow despite them being well staffed and not busy, and they were rude to us on the phone when we called for room service late at night despite advertising 24h room service. I would have rather stayed at a neighboring hotel than here.

Rooms have a very traditional feel to them with a bit of that luxury that makes you want to sink into the bed. Overall a good experience - unfortunately has been sold out when I subsequently returned to DC.

The staff and accommodations are wonderful. I was offered an upgrade to a Junior Suite for an additional $30/day for a top floor corner room and I was not disappointed. This is my second time staying in a Sofitel property, but the first time in the US and the high end experience has remained consistent.

Beautiful hotel in the "White House" area. Basic reception but with fast and precise staff. Large rooms, with super comfortable bed, pleasant furnishings and excellent equipment. The price depends on the period. More than reasonable in January.

We travelled for leisure a week prior to Christmas from overseas. We frequently travel and exclusively stay at higher end hotels.

This hotel is perfectly located with a maximum of 12 floors providing a more intimate/boutique feel. We had a superior King room (one of the entry level rooms) and was very pleased with it. Not sure if they had upgraded us due to off season as the room we got didn t quite match what we had booked! A very nice eatery was conveniently located opposite the hotel called Devon & Blakely (for those of you who are not local) that had everything. We walked everywhere and it was easy. We would definitely be staying here if back in Washington! Stephanie, the night duty manager, was awesome and an asset to the hotel!

Very nice place! Concierge had great input on off the beaten path museums. Check in and out was smooth, the valet was timely.

Very conveniently located, nice clean rooms, quiet. Don't care much for the new decor but very happy overall.

From check in, through to using all the guest services, we had an amazing time. Location was great, bed was comfortable, room was clean, attention to detail was there. Valet was helpful and room service was spot on. Wonderful experience and I would highly recommend it!

I really think the place is the best hotel in Washington D.C. they give you a full-out bar, like your normal coke and alcohol and such. It has a great tv.

I was delighted with the room, the bed, amenities in the room, and the location. I was surprised to not only find a high quality radio (Bose Wave), but to find that it was tuned to a classical music station.

Nice rooms but staff moved our stuff to another room without our consent. Hotel offered free dinner to compensate.

Super expensive valet parking. There s hardly any overnight parking around this hotel. Also, they didn't have pillow menu, which is very important for someone like me who's got neck issues and needs an ergonomic pillow.

Very close to the white house...you stay in the hotel and visit all the historic buildings and monuments

Only visited the bar here. Standard fare for a hotel bar. Comfortable couches and chairs. Athletics events on the TV s. Late 80's and early 90's pop on the speakers.

Great location, excellent staff, super breakfast, nice fitness room, and comfortable accommodations.

Location was perfect walking distance to the White House and the National Mall. The rooms were clean and modern. The bed was extremely comfortable. Breakfast at the restaurant was very delicious and upscale.

Everything was top notch. A friendly, welcoming and thoughtful staff who all seem to be fully committed to raising the client experience. Loved the chocolate croissants at breakfast along with the friendly and helpful service. The photo art in the elevators and especially the one as you exit on the 12th floor just made me smile every time I passed them. Would love to have a print of that photo outside the elevators on the 12th floor-just enjoyed it so much!.

This hotel is beautiful and the rooms are fabulous. What is really special about it though are the employees. I had wonderful experiences with a few different people at the front desk, especially Stephan. He made our stay extra special from the start. He gave us a beautiful room and handled my surprise cake delivery for my boyfriend very well and professionally. He was so kind and took the time to get to know us. When I left the hotel on our departure day I accidentally left a piece of my luggage in the lobby. I called when I got home and realized it, and I spoke to Michael who was so kind and reassuring. They had my item and then Stephan had it shipped to me the very next day. This place is spectacular and I can't wait to visit again. Also it is super close to all of the must see DC landmarks

A rare jewel in the dizzyingly growing list of downtown hotels. From the moment you walk through the front door (which will always have been opened for you by the doorman), you're immediately transported to a hotel that understands exceptionalism in hotelier. Nothing is forgotten. Nothing is not just where and how it should be. Including the bed linens that are some of the best I have ever slept on.

A beautiful hotel in a phenomenal location. Staff is absolutely amazing. I would certainly stay again. We easily walked to all of the national monuments, museums, Chinatown, and the Whitehouse (only 2 blocks away). Only 2 things keeping it from a five star rating are lack of fridge and microwave in room and toilet paper that comes in somewhere well, well below 1-ply quality.

We spent the weekend here with another couple to enjoy sightseeing in DC. The rooms were very clean and well appointed. We were favorably impressed with the hotel staff. Without exception everyone was friendly and helpful.

Staff was unhelpful. Room was in disrepair. Horribly overpriced.

My wife and I stayed at the Sofitel Washington DC for four nights in September and it could not have been a better experience! The hotel staff made every encounter feel as if we were the only guests staying at the hotel. I loved the French style of everything and the decor is stunning.

I liked my room and the staff were all very friendly, however services like parking were overly expensive to the point of being unreasonable. Parking was $64 a night which is twice as much as parking literally in any other garage in town.

Amazing hotel....def. worth the price. Staff was attentive and the rooms were spacious. Dont touch the fridge, it will cost you. Parking was a challenge.

Hotel seemed very short-staffed, except for front desk. Valet staff took forever to get car multiple times...didn't get car until we were there, after having called many minutes before from room. Wait staff in outside lounge was rude and slow. The concerge desk was more than useless with our simple, typical rewiests for monument tour ideas (here''s a tour bus brochure) and ideas for getting tickets to things. Verall, nothing special and underwhelmibg, especially after staying at the Willard and Georgetown Westin, who gave much better service.
