We were looking for a family holiday location with a toddler and decided it was a resort type accommodation to be the go, Nusa Dua is known for the private beach and more secluded area. Then the choice came down to several resorts on the Nusa Dua beach, 7 nights @ Sofitel was our final pick based on their consistent internet ratings.
Our check-in was smooth and we were setup in our designated room in a blink of an eye.
Our parents joined in a few nights later and we had some issues with the check-in desk - mainly a misunderstanding by Sofitel Staff about our AccorPlus membership, the check-in process ended up taking about an hour and this upset my wife by much.
We wrote an email to Sofitel Management and had a meeting with Bpk Wawan (A/ Front Office Manager) the following day. We thoroughly explained all the correspondence emails that we had gone through prior to arriving and what actually happened at the check-in desk. In the end the matter was resolved satisfactorily to both parties.
*Swimming Pools*
There are 5 outdoor swimming pools.
2 Pools are dedicated for children and the remaining 3 pools are a mix for adults and children - the sides of the 3 pools have shallow areas for children.
*Restaurants*
There are 2 restaurants in the resort;
Cucina
Cucina is a fine dining located next to the swimming pool. We had 2 dinners here and was lucky enough to be seated outside next to the pool with live musics playing in the background with crystal clear sky. Ambience was spot on.
Kwee Zeen
This is the daily breakfast venue. We absolutely loved the breakfast quality at this place. From the outskirt, it's a typical 5 stars hotel breakfast with a wide range of selection menu but after a few days I could say that the food quality was above 5-stars average breakfast.
We stayed at Rimba last year, the breakfast venue and range were as glamorous as Sofitel but I score higher for Kwee Zeen for quality.
My personal highlights from the daily breakfast at Kwee Zeen:
- Fresh juice station - My #1 favorite go-to station every morning. I'd start my day at the gym early and on the way back to my room to get shower and change for breakfast, I stopped here to have 3-4 glasses of variety of freshly made juice. There was a variety of vegetables and fruits to choose from the tray, you just select what you want. I would have a few more glasses before finishing breakfast later. Absolutely loved this as I could top up 'good antioxidants' in the morning to start the day strong!
- Asian corner station - they provide a wide range of fresh vegetables selections and you can choose whether to cook stir-fry or soup style.
- Eggs station
- Pastry "room" - staying true to their french "heritage". Most crowded room every morning.
*Gym*
3 treadmills (with TVs addons etc), 1 elipctical trainer, dumbells, chest/shoulder/legs/arm resistance machines, bicycle trainer.
The gym facility is also equipped with Sauna and Spa facility.
The staff members are quite knowledgeable about well being and general exercise. My wife and I had a chat with Andri/Agus and Novi and they shared some tips about core and yoga exercise. These guys aren't just ordinary people running the gym but they know what they're talking about!
*Private Beach*
The white sand beach is clean and stationed with plenty of chairs with shades. Unlike typical bali beaches who are swamped with walkers selling items, sofitel private beach is very quiet to relax and rest.
High tide was between 9am - 2pm - this is where you can dip/swim on the ocean. During low tide, the water is too far to walk above the uneven surface.
We found the staff from front desk to the beach to be very courteous and polite (you can probably say this is the standard you would expect from most places in Bali).
The Hotel Management showed us that they cared about our experience during the stay and they did it right.
Will we come back for another holiday here? bloody oath we will.
