My family started using Smith Thompson back in 1994 when they moved into their house in North Dallas. When my wife and I bought our house in 2005, we immediately called Smith Thompson and got set up with them. My in-laws moved to Dallas from Austin a few years later, and they, too, started using Smith Thompson. Now I have a new house. Can you guess who I went with? Yes, Smith Thompson! We used them literally for decades and their price and service has never changed. I rely on them to protect my family and me and I couldn't be happier with their service.

Always makes it a point to ask how I'm doing, talk about other misc items, etc. The service has been excellent and have never had to call him back out to re-do any service. They came out and installed their system and fixed several sensors. I couldn't be happier with the service provided.

Tech called 20 mins prior to arrival. Loved the fact he put on shoe protectors to come in. Super fast and was friendly.., Showed us exactly how to work it. He even set up all my passcodes and so forth. Love the pricing and easy use of app.

Gary completed my install and did a outstanding job! He was very thorough, professional, on time and answered all my questions. He was also able to easily fix a preexisting issue with my system that had not worked in quite awhile. Will definitely recommend.

Always very friendly and helpful plus gets everything set up very quickly, And does not over charge. Our Technician was even able to find where my upstairs wire ended to an alarm pad that should have been there right through the drywall with a special tool.

Shawn notified me at the beginning of my service window that he was on his way, and was very professional while doing the install in my home. I had a few false alarms and scheduled a service call. I forgot about the early Saturday morning appointment. The technician did call and leave a message (which did not register on my phone) but I was not expecting the doorbell to ring. He was kind to wait outside a few moments while I tried to "get it together". The fix was to switch from the faulty wired sensor to wireless. I upgraded all my sensors and the technician updated my receiver. The repair was quick and the technician adhered to Covid protocols.

Used them for a few years... and did not pay a statement for renewal- they have no follow-up system, but to keep running that bill up.. they say they don't have the resources to call for payment reminder- no email system for this neither..... what is worse, they thought it was okay for them to NOT send bills of what owed and continuing to be added onto for 4 months. A four month unexplained gap that they hold no ownership of but feel okay to bill for those months, even though on record I NEVER armed my home at that time. Very poor customer service and I requested a call back to escalate the concern, but never received a call. To keep my credit from going to collections, I paid over $160 for service I never used. FIX YOUR PROCESS FOR NON-PAYMENT. YOU SHOULD GIVE CUSTOMERS THE OPTION TO OPT-OUT OF YOUR SCAMLIKE CLAUSE THAT YOU EXPECT CLIENTS TO REMEMBER YEARS LATER TO CANCEL.

NO INTEGRITY. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY 100%. AN ALARM COMPANY THAT DOES NOT HAVE INTEGRITY. IF THEY DONT HAVE RESOURCES OR AN AUTOMATED SYSTEM TO NOTIFY CLIENTS.... ARE THEY CUTTING CORNERS ON THE CALL CENTER THAT DISPATCHES????

And to top it all off, they are inconsistent with handling non-payment as I read a separate review of them granting 1/2 off to another customer, when I was ORIGINALLY offered 1 month credit. Garbage service. People should take a look at RING or other companies with integrity.

Just had this alarm system installed to replace an existing system. The installer was knowledgeable and was efficient in removing previously installed components and then installing the Smith Thompson alarm components. The monthly monitoring fee is significantly lower than what I had been paying.
Hopefully this system will be more reliable than the previous system. Would have given five stars but need to see how well the system works. Also, as a note, the basic system comes with some equipment but you may need to purchase additional sensors depending on your specific layout. Additional equipment is reasonably priced.

I recently went with Smith Thompson to monitor my existing system. My review deals with Smith Thompson solely as a monitoring company, not as an installer of brand new systems from scratch. I would not use Smith Thompson to install a new system because they don't install hardwired systems and they don't install Honeywell Panels, only DSC. If you want to add a device to an existing hardwired system, they will only install wireless devices which contain batteries that must be changed. They refuse to run wire from the panel to devices. For instance, they had no interest in installing a hardwired external siren. So, I had a local alarm company in Houston install all of my Honeywell hardwired components. Once I had the perfect alarm system, it was time for me to find someone to monitor it. I always heard wonderful things about Smith Thompson from friends and how they have a very quick response time. Also, they have the best prices in town for cellular monitoring. They blow ADT and all of the national alarm monitoring companies out of the water with their excellent service and pricing! Further, you do not have to enter into a contract, which I like. I talked with Josh on the phone and he was quite helpful in answering all of my questions. Josh scheduled me for the set-up service and the tech was prompt in coming. He called an hour before arriving. I went ahead and had the Smith Thompson tech install a wireless smoke & heat detector while he was out. I was happy to see that he installed Honeywell smoke detectors and that I didn't have to settle for the crap from DSC. In fact, he had both Honeywell smoke detectors and Honeywell wireless receivers stocked in his truck. The smoke detector and wireless receiver cost $129. The Uplink device for monitoring was $89. I went ahead and paid for a year of monitoring so I could get one free month of monitoring. The tech properly labeled the panic buttons on my Honeywell keypads and showed me how to use the system. In summation, without hesitation, I would recommend Smith Thompson for the narrow purpose of monitoring an existing system. But, by no means are they a full-service alarm company.

I ve had Smith Thompson's Home Security for a few years now, never encountered any problems. Great customer service, with a caring and courteous voice on the line whenever I accidentally set off the alarm. Which triggers a call from the monitoring center with a response time that is second to none. A very fair and comfortable price for an excellent service. Also payments are quarterly rather than monthly, which is another added convenience. Solid, economical, and highly recommended security thanks!!!

My service was GREAT from the person that took my order over the phone to the tech that came out and did my install. Even the person for the dispatch center that called me this morning when my 4yr old opened the back door to let the dog out this morning. I ve only had service less than 24hrs and already loving what I m seeing and the service I m receiving.

We have been a Smith Thompson security customers for over a year. Can't say enough good things about this company from the initial contact and having their very knowledgeable tech come out for the set up of the system down to extremely fast monitoring respond time during of the "Oops" we've had by opening a door while the system is in 'instant arm mode'. Not to forget the extremely affordable monthly service and the professionalism each time I call the office and speak to someone we easily give Smith Thompson FIVE STARS PLUS!

They had a Saturday option which was great if you're busy during the week.There are minimal prompts before you get to speak with a real person. We have really enjoyed our experience with Smith Thompson so far. The initial installation was very quick, and the service person that came to our house was very nice, punctual, and patient. He explained everything we needed to know about the alarm. The couple times that we accidentally triggered the alarms, Smith Thompson called within a minute to ask for our passcode etc.! Always so on top of things, and we have been more than satisfied!

Came out quickly and installed their equipment to work with our existing system. The tech was professional and quick. We now have a home alarm system with the smart phone app, all for a good price. They are much cheaper than other companies I looked into.Thanks

I called Smith Thompson Home security to get my new home secured with the existing alarm system. A technician came out and was very rude and was either lazy and did not want to do my requests that I requested from the sales man before his visit or was not knowledgeable of alarm systems. The technician said I would not be able to secure all of the windows in my house because their company does not do that and No companies do that except ADT and I would spend thousands of dollars to get that done.
Meanwhile he did not make suggestions for glass breaks or any other options to fit my needs. I was the one asking for other options.
I then asked about getting fire alarms to be set up for fire monitoring and he said that in order for him to install and for the company to monitor fire that my house would need to be up to fire code. I then asked if my house was up to fire code and he said no. He then explained that now a days houses cannot go on the market if they are not up to fire code. I then explained that I just purchased my house. He then tried to cover up the lie he just told. OR he just did not know the facts.
I decided this company would not fit my needs since I kept hearing the answer NO, NO, NO. I nicely explained that to the technician and he said " did you not speak to our salesman about what you were looking for"? I explained that I did explain what i was looking for which was fire security alarms and my house secured 100%.
He took down the keypads he replaced and the panel in my front closet. I noticed he was getting ready to leave and had not put the two keypads and panel back that he took down. I asked him if he was going to put them back on and he said No. I asked him why and he said " I do not get paid to put back other peoples equipment".
DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY...THEY WILL SEND TECHNICIANS THAT ARE RUDE AND NOT CUSTOMER FRIENDLY...
Saving less per month is not worth it when you have to deal with bad customer service.
