This airport is dirty and has a foul and swamp-like smell due to lack of air circulations. It s suffocating to breathe because it s humid inside the terminal and gates. It s like we re being hoarded like wild animals through the checkpoints.
Not designed for the amount of traffic through this airport. Only bar/restaurant in terminal has a rope line over an hour long.
Nothing really special, has what you're looking for in an international airport. Gate numbers are not easily seen for sight impaired. Average walking distances, lots of shops.

Under constant renovation. Security line was quick, though. Even on a Sunday at noon. That's why it gets two stars.
Limited food choices. Went to Shula Burger and it took ~45 minutes to order and get the food. The place was packed because it was either that or the Chili's next door that had a 45 minute wait just to sit down.
Hopefully when they finish it will be nice.
I read a lot of negative reviews. Maybe I am the odd one out here, but I didn't really have any issues with Thrifty. The customer service agent I spoke with was a little grumpy and not overly kind, however I was polite and smiled at her and tried to make her day better. The car I rented was everything that was promised -- at half the cost of competitors. Spent approximately 15 mins waiting in line and got my car right away after that. Overall I am satisfied. Customer service reps attitude could improve.

Pickups are about as bad as any airport I've been to. And I fly a lot. The arrivals section is a log jam of cars. Something is wrong because there is no traffic flow. Took 15 minutes for my Uber to go 1 mile to my location. No exaggeration.
I am here right now on way home via Southwest (love Southwest) and this place is an ABSOLUTE DISASTER. I also WANT TO GIVE IT NO STARS. It is ridiculously-beyond unorganized.
Right to my point: We went through screening, we grabbed our 5 to 6 bins and A SCREENING AGENT went through my fiancee and I's bin before we had a chance to grab them all (again it is A MESS!!!!) and took my shoes out and TRIED TO PUT MY SIZE 7.5 WOMAN'S SNEAKERS ON A STRANGER WHO IS AN ADULT MALE AND PROBABLY A SIZE 13 MEN'S!!!!!!
AND THEN THEY PROCEEDED TO LAUGH!!!!!!!! That is beyond messed up and extremely UNPROFESSIONAL.
I am extremely dissatisfied with this airport and will tell friends and family via word of mouth and online to avoid this airport.

Super dirty carpets/floors. Not many options for shopping or eating like other airports I ve been to. Most of it is under construction or blocked of. Is a VERY small terminal
I love South Florida, especially the Fort Lauderdale vicinity.
We have flown in and out of this airport. It's very small, not a lot of food choices or stores for purchasing items. It is clean and well maintained.
Please be careful renting a car from enterprise. I needed a ride after helping many people in the Keys near Key West after One month helping people with water food disable people took the truck back to Weston Florida at 1585 North park dr 33326. Ask for a Ride was there before they closed show them my disability card they said once we lock the Door we can t take you home. After getting upset I walk about 4 .2 mile an collapsed to the ground left there at 6:10 my phone went dead my wife found me at 11:20. Try he talked to Corporate. Never a call back they have thousands of complaints. Never ever will use them again. Please sent this to as many MS people you know.
A LOT of changes, but very nice on the inside. Easy to navigate thanks to the signs. I just wish it was easier to gain access from terminal 2,3 and 4 from terminal 1.

Make sure you get dropped of at the right terminal. There are 4 terminals, and they are quite a good walk from one to the other.
Everytime I have to fly out of FLL I'm reminded why I like PBI and Miami. Parking is routinely awful and getting a tram from garage to terminal is a wonderfully inconsistent experience with either a 5 or 30 minute wait for pickup. Add on elevators that are almost always out of service and you have the makings of a wonderful hike. Security moves at a decent clip with precheck, but without budget for a long queue. Offerings on the terminal for food and drinks are good enough for a small airport, but not what youd expect from an international high traffic spot: Expect longs lines, limited seating and few places to plug in if you're consigned to wait for a frequently delayed flight or you might get some cardio when they swap gates. Delta lounge was improved following their recent refresh. Bottom line avoid FLL if you can unless you come prepared with precheck, lounge access, and plenty of time to find parking and then tram over to the terminal. Bathrooms are also quite terrible so yay for making wherever you are connecting to feel like an oasis of luxury.
I lost my iPad on Dec 5, 2014. My fault, but my experience with last and found was terrible.
They give a phone number to call-it is ALLWAYS BUSY. There is an internet form to fill out-THEY NEVER RESPOND. I EMAILED the Broward county office-they responded (very briefly) 2 times and now there is no response. I just wanted a response that they didn't have it so I could claim it on my insurance.
Quick security line and decent wait time. Only a couple places open for food but otherwise nice airport

This airport is extremely slow at getting luggage down to the baggage claim. Sometimes up to 2 hours. Very poor performance
Terminal 2 is dirty, cramped and totally lacking as far as the food options go (unless you are ok with junk food). Will definitely avoid in the future.
To be clear this rating is more for the Chillis in terminal 1. OMG the place was filthy!! The servers moved at a very slow pace. There were people waiting to be seated and at least 5 ,6 tables that weren t being cleaned and sat empty the whole time. The floor looked as if is handnt been cleaned in a month. If there had been another choice we would have taken it.

No signs telling you where to go. Multiple staff members directed us to wrong location for our parking garage and wasted an hour
I had a very bad experience checking in at the curveside. The person who was helping me had very little experience and worked VERY slow. He almost caused us to miss our flight. JetBlue service is not up to date. I paid for my checked bags online and they had no history of it in their system. I ended up going inside and was given the run around from other JetBlue staffs because they had very little clue about how their system works.
customs line sucks... took us 4 hours to get through the line... if you have the option NEVER FLY TO THIS AIRPORT.
I would put zero stars if possible. My husband just flew out of this airport. He left his iPad at security and immediately returned minutes later. He was told that it was sent to Broward County lost and found and could not be retrieved and he should kiss it goodbye. He asked why it couldn't be retrieved. They informed him it was because the lost and found was closed on Sunday. He asked how it was there if lost and found was closed. Finally, feeling like he was being scammed, he informed the security agents that he was calling the police and reporting it stolen. Magically the agents were able to produce the cell phone number of the person who had the iPad. They said it would be back in five minutes. 10 minutes later my husband informed them that his flight was boarding. At that time they did not produce the iPad and told him if he wanted it back he would have to leave and proceed through security a second time. He did not have time to do this and make his flight so he was told again to kiss it goodbye. There are no numbers available for airport security to report this. The number for lost and found no longer allows you to leave a message "as they are experiencing a high number of requests for lost items". I wonder why? Perhaps because they are staffed by thieves.
Not very busy, same for the traffic, to many people walking through the airport with their mask around their necks, ask someone that works at the airport a question I don't know maybe down there, stop playing with your phones and be glad that you're working
It s normally really quick to get through once I ve web checked in and bag check is on average pretty decent to get through but terminal four does not have enough food options and everything is overpriced and they aren t really great either. They would do well with a Krispy Kreme or another food option like a fast food for people who aren t interested in big expensive meals and just want something quick, cheap and delicious.
Just went on an international trip to South America a few weeks ago and flew out of FLL. I like this airport a lot more than MIA.
We arrived in the morning, July 17th, and the airport staff took all the bags off the treadmills and set them down. Chaos formed, several passengers not knowing where their bags were, and then a huge line to get through luggage control. Terrible service, the agents shouted all the time, refused to give information. It was scary, it seemed that many flights were coming to the same, when in fact the car rental company reported that there were only 3 flights and that there is a really bad organization.
I thought Miami airport was a mess, but to be honest with you it's pretty smooth compared to how the place is during these holiday travel days.
What a mess, it took me about an hour to get around the airport in order to return my rental. There was no clear direction to the rental car building until you were passed all of the terminals.
Then everyone was crossing 3 Lanes of traffic to not let people pass out get to the left lane. Ahhhhhh

not even 1 start - 0* Worst Airport I've ever been for an internatinal flight immigration and custom officers has no respect for people I feel so disrespectful for 2 officers they should be train how to treat people with respect. So unorganized to claim luggage in JetBlue terminal, all bags all over the place with no space to walk long lines with no order it was a mess 2 hrs and 30 min to get out from immigration and custom. Employees should be train how to provide good customer service , they really need it, I don't think they're happy with their jobs because they way they act is just miserable, I'll never ever use this Airport for an international flight worst experience ever in 25 years flying. I do no recommend this Airport at all for international flights.
Understaffed and unqualified staff....probably the worst airport in the country!
It's a well layed out airport. But they need to take it easy on the smooth jazz! They blast throughout the terminals. People joke how it sounds like a elevator. It get old really fast, I sincerely feel bad for everyone working there.
Has the conveniences one would expect from a smaller airport, however signage during the neverending construction project(s) is poor and FLL has the worst wifi of any major airport - and it's not even close.
Loved this airport. They really splurged on high quality Toilet Paper. It's the little things.
Good location, less crowded than Miami airport. However, few duty free stores for last minute purchases. Wifi free although a little slow connection but equally useful.
Ok airport, TSA at Delta can be a little long, other than that its clean and they get the job done!
How rediculous! The flights are not listed according to where they are going but instead by where they terminate!! Good luck finding your flight if you are making a connection.

Excellent attention and kindness, the migration system is very effective and fast, the facilities are very easy to move within them and it is very accessible to transport in general.
Convenient airport with many international routes available. Norvegian recently opened a direct to Paris, while Jetblue has many options to South America. Big hub for Spirit for the US.
Many "park and go" options within a few minutes of the airport.
There is a cellphone waiting area under the airport that many people seem to ignore while its actually very convenient.
I've been to 3rd world and developing countries with better customs agents and communication than this airport! Very unprofessional and rude.
Got stuck on the the plane then in Customs line for 2.5hrs causing me to miss my flight by 30 minutes...
I think if you've got to catch a connecting flight then there should be an express line to route you through...
We had to wait 30 minutes the get off the plane, go to Baggage Claim then through Customs...
So after getting a room, then having dinner, breakfast, lunch and dinner again I can finally go home...
After a while all airports start looking the same, ha. This airport was clean, nice, seemed well kept, had all the things you expect in an airport; plenty of eateries, and stores to visit. TSA lines moved at a decent pace, but your mileage may vary depending on what time and what flights are out-going. The staff and TSA agents were all nice and helpful. Like most airports, you have long walks to get to your flight or to your baggage pick up. Parking was as expected, valet is always best to use if you don't mind spending the money.
Only a 3h30m of Customs line... after a 9hrs flight.
I ve never been in such a over crowded, hot, low staff airport in my life. The wait into precheck security was appalling. My family and I had to wait an extra 15 minutes to get someone to assist us-matter if fact no one assisted us in the precheck line, we hopped right back into the regular security line because all of our carry on was already through the X-day scanner. Understaffed and Over crowded are never a good pair. I expected more from such a well known city in Florida.
Good services, everything perfectly oriented so that you are calm at all times. Clean sinks. Correct stores.
It's a nice airport, but the Wi-Fi doesn't work period plus you lose a lot of data connection as well and can't make a phone call. But other than that, amenable
TRASH!!!! Avoid international flights through here AT ALL COSTS!!! This airport is way too small and when they start getting busy are not at all equipped to handle large crowds and spent hours trying to go back through security to change flights otw to Nassau.

We were at the airport on Saturday, Feb. 22, 2020. This is the day of the week most cruise ship passengers would be travelling back home. It was awful, congested and absolutely no where to sit, when we entered. We could not check our luggage or go into the security, as you can only enter three hours before your flight. I sat on the floor for two hours until we could go check in. Needless to say, I came home sick, which is probably because of the filthy floor that I sat on. :(

Immigration and customs was really horrible. 3 hours to get through! We missed our connection, and the airline said it was not their fault so they weren't going to provide accommodations. We had to sleep in the airport, and there was a large group of us trying to sleep on the chairs, but they close down the actual airport at night and make you sleep in the check in area. Then all through the night, the mayor's voice repeats over the speaker, people are vacuuming the same spots on the floor over and over again. By the time you start to doze off, some other loud sound starts. Someone even made an announcement over the speaker to kick everyone out of the airport because it was closing, but thankfully there were too many people to kick out. Horrible experience, but most of this was on the airline (Spirit) not accommodating us than the airport itself. I gave this 2 stars because it has Wi-Fi.
Might be my first or second time connecting here, but as frequent as I travel, this airport is in some serious need of help. After deplaning and walking to gate area, there was no flight information in sight. I guessed which way to go and ran into flight monitors after a long walk.
Food selection is minimal with a large price tag to follow.
Dated, seems chaotic, hopefully don t have to connect here often.
Small airport, but very efficient. Took trip recently, nicely remodeled, more food choices, clean bathrooms. Pleasantly surprised.

Worst airport in Florida, especially customs and immigration control. Go Miami or WPB, even if it costs more.
