Best vegan cake I've had! Quick turn around and fair prices. Would definitely order from again.

Amazing desserts! Natural ingredients, amazing artwork, delicious cupcakes. Get a whole cake, a slice of cake, cupcakes, mini cupcakes, sometimes cake pops and pies to order! They can make pretty much any pie or cake with 48hrs notice. No fondant or 3D cakes, but their stuff is so pretty and tasty, you won't miss it.

Had the BEST vegan/GF cake of my entire life from here over the weekend!!! We called 48 hours ahead of time, and they had the cake ready on time for pickup. The cake had real flowers, was personalized for the bday girl, and tasted AMAZING....will be back for the next occasion!

I wish there were more options that included real butter in the icing and cake. I don't like the vegetable oil based desserts.

They made me a gluten free Kentucky Derby Pie which was the best gluten free pie I have had in my 7 years of being gluten free.

Short Street Cakes really came through for me! I knew they could have turned me down for not calling the proper 48 hours in advance and I was ready to accept being turned down, but despite the short notice they were able to make a FANTASTIC cake for an office birthday party! We got a small white cake with chocolate frosting and it was just delicious. Super moist and not painfully sweet like store bought cakes. The birthday boy and all the office ladies raved about how great the cake was for hours!

To make a long story short, the service we received was stellar and the cake was equally great! I can't wait to find another reason to order a cake from Short Street Cakes.

We just recently got our 3 tier wedding cake from Short Street and our guests could not stop talking about how delicious it was. My wife and I also ate cake leftovers for about 3 days straight after the wedding. Personally, I am not a huge fan of the cupcakes and prefer the cakes (I find that the cakes are more moist than their cupcakes). I recommend the chocolate porter and daffodil flavors! They are also really reasonably priced. We liked that they don t use fondant. Short Street will be our go to for all our cake ordering needs!

We have ordered cakes from Short Street many, many times, We have always been delighted. I recently placed an order on line only to be responded to 12 hours later, to please call in the order. I called the next day, as instructed. The person who answered my call told me they were too busy to fulfill my order for a pick up 3 days later.
We are restaurant people, I don't understand the lack of communication or the lack of desire to please your customers. Without customers where would you be? I doubt we will use Short Street any longer. There are far too many bakery's in the area eager to please new and old customers.. Unfortunately, Short Sweet also looses our recommendations, which were plentiful. This experience leaves me sad.

Recently I ordered a beer cake from Short Street Cakes for my son's 35th birthday. My son and his finacee were visiting Ashville for his birthday and I really had no idea where to order a cake. First of all the ladies at Short Street Cakes took special care and time to talk with me over the phone and make it perfect! According to my son and his finacee the cake was amazing! Just wonderful!!! I could not be more pleased!!!

I decided to order a cake for my mother for her birthday. She was visiting from out of town and leaving the day of her birthday, so I ordered the cake for pickup the day before her birthday. I placed an order online about a week in advance, then called a few days later to confirm the cake order. On the day I went to pick up the cake, first the door was locked even though they didn't close for another 30 minutes. I called and then someone sees me and let's me in. I go inside and they never made the cake, he had trouble finding the order. The only thing they had to offer were cupcakes that didn't sell that day "for a discounted price." The shop was suppose to be closing in less than 30 minutes. I politely declined and left.

"They" say the way to a man's heart is through his tummy, so I last minute decided to have a cake delivered to my crush as his b-day prez since I live far away. Short Street Cakes got back w/ me quickly and got right on it. They have a 48 hr notice policy, but helped me out w/ my last minute planning within 24 hrs. The Black Forest Chocolate cake was beautiful and very tasty from what I hear! There must've been some magic in that choco cherry b-day cake b/c I believe I not only scored points w/ my crush, but w/ his little boy as well. :) Much gratitude!!!

I have used Short Street cakes for the last 5 years, under the new ownership, the quality of product and customer service has plummeted. My husband tried to order me a cake in June for my birthday, when he went to pick it up there was no record of the order. They slapped together a hummingbird cake which was extremely dry and even charged him full price for it!! I tried to give them another chance this weekend for his birthday. After calling six or seven times and leaving two messages, no one ever returned my phone call. They lost this loyal customer!!!

I have heard great things about them so I decided to give them a try today, I bought 4 different cupcakes which all were extremely dry and tasted over a week old, I also found hair in the cupcakes. Would not reccomend.

I m from out-of-state and ordered a small cake for a family wedding celebration, and I couldn t have been more pleased. The cake tasted delicious (we had the almond raspberry cake) it was beautifully decorated with fresh flowers, and completely met my expectations.

The cake I ordered wasn't correct and it was dried out and tasted stale. Would not recommend them. I ordered from Donnitelli and it was the cake of my dreams

Very average presentation and the cupcake boxes don t fit the cupcakes. 2 were smushed when the box was closed. The server replaced 1 of them but wasn t very polite about it. On the 1 mile smooth car trip home, the cupcakes got melty/smushed more, and some fell in the box. Ended up with some very sad looking cupcakes. Definitely not the cute cupcake presentation I was looking for when getting a friend a birthday surprise. Apparently they don t know that s half the fun of a cake/cupcake. I ended up giving these to a homeless person.

I placed an order via phone on Wednesday evening to pick up Friday evening. I assumed everything would be ready as expected; it was a pretty basic order for a birthday cake. When I arrived, no cake. He couldn t find my order. I showed him on my phone where I called and asked that he call whoever was working Wednesday. He called her and she remembered speaking with me, but they still couldn t locate the order form. In the business s defense, he quickly threw something together for me (took about 30 minutes) from cakes that were pre-prepared for the following day, but it wasn t what I originally ordered and it made me late. He did give me the cake for free and it was good, but how does a business lose an order like that? People rely on cakes for special occasions, and they need to have a better system in place to ensure they don t lose orders. I don t trust that they won t mess up again, so I won t be going back.

Short Street Cakes is amazing! I came here to get a cake for my husband's birthday and was blown away! My husband used to be a baker so hes very picky and was amazed by the quality and perfection of this cake! I got the triple chocolate ganache cake and we were in heaven. We were both so sad when it was gone.... I keep trying to find a reason to order another cake! Will definitely be ordering from Short Street again soon! We used Short Street for a cake and pie bar for our September wedding and we couldn't have had a better experience! We went there initially for the tasting, which was awesome by the way. They gave us enough to taste for 4 plus people including coffee, and all their flavors were very unique and so delicious! They sat down with us and went over all our options in detail and did everything they could to help us stay within our budget. The staff there were all really friendly. Communication throughout the whole process was quick and easy. For the big day, they came in and set everything up for us with no problems at all. Everything came out exactly how we wanted it to and it was all so yummy! We had plenty left over to enjoy for the next several days! If you're looking for something unique and flavorful for your event, you have got to consider Short Street Cakes! Or if you're just strolling through Asheville, I would highly recommend stopping by their shop!

Great pies, cupcakes, and cakes! Just had a rich lemon pound cake with a blueberry glaze, so dense and delightful. We are at 16 servings and still going.....staff is great too! They have the freshest cakes I have ever eaten.

HORRIBLE customer service - when calling on the phone, the employees are extremely unfriendly and quite rude. If you are looking for delicious cakes and gluten free at that, support a nice local bakery, A LA CUPCAKES! They are at least kind and gracious, and pleasant to work with.

Amazing pies! I ordered several pies for my husbands birthday. Strawberry Rhubarb, pumpkin and apple- all were phenomenal! Cupcakes are yummy too! Super sweet ladies too!

This was forever ago, like a whole year, but I just realized I forgot to leave a review (I m thinking of ordering from them again). I ordered a unicorn birthday cake for my daughter way in advance, and when I went to pick it up the day of the party they had lost our order and didn t have a cake . I wasn t a happy camper, BUT everyone makes mistakes. They really went out of their way to fix it, and within an hour or so they delivered the cake to our front door. It was a quick turn around. The icing wasn t totally set, so the horn got a little wonky, but my toddler didn t care. The cake was delicious and everyone wanted to know where we ordered it. Ideally they wouldn t have misplaced the order, but I greatly appreciate how far they went to make it right on a weekend when they clearly didn t have a lot of staff on hand. In the end they delivered (literally) the cake we wanted. The same mistake from a lot of places might have left us without one at all.

Long story short..... Ordered a quarter sheet wedding cake from Atlanta. Kelsi was very friendly n went over all prices sizes n flavors. I mailed them a check for said price of 57.12$.Several days later a voice mail from Kelsi saying i need to pay 12 more dollars because she gave me wrong prices. Ok i over looked that untill i picked up the ugliest wedding cake ever. The names were written in black n only two of the three sunflowers i brought in were used. Where the pale purple swirlscame from i have no idea. Also smudged spot on top. Plain n white. They fixed it n wrote the names in green but grooms name spelled wrong.Then we ate the cake n it was horrible. Tasted only sickening sweet . No lime no strawberry just nasty vanilla cake. No one ate theirs. The garbage can got the most. Never ever again.

My husband bought a cake for my birthday and sent them a pic of what he wanted. It turned out nothing like the picture. Aside from looks the cake was like eating hard bread.

Brides beware! We hired Short Street for our wedding cake. From moment one their wedding coordinator made me feel uneasy and insecure about our cake order. From there it was weeks of back and forth emails and calls because they continued to send us the wrong contract details. The wrong date, the wrong venue, the wrong cake. They took NO accountability for their continued incompetence. Our cake was there on our wedding day because our coordinator sent them emails every three days confirming all the details. Still, the cake arrived to the wrong location (the wrong building at the venue), 45 minutes late, and the delivery people gave our coordinator sass and attitude when they couldn t set the cake up themselves. The wedding was outdoors and my coordinator, thank god, insisted it be put inside so it wouldn t melt. On the bright side the cake was delicious and everyone was floored it was vegan and gluten free. We never got an apology for their mistakes, SO unprofessional.

Ordered a Cake on Thursday. The person taking the order over the phone was maybe not the best order taker ever, but he was patient and kind and they make exactly what I asked for and it was really delicious. It was ready when they said it would be. The only thing I should or would have liked was a total when I placed the order. However, it was worth every penny and we were all extremely happy! Thank you, Short Street Cakes!!!!

We had the most amazing lemon cake with lemon buttercream frosting and blackberry filling on our wedding day. So so so good. Best wedding cake I've ever had by far!

Went with Short Street Cakes for my wedding cake, as they had vegan options on their menu, all clearly labeled. There was a nice variety to choose from. The cake was good overall, although my family found the frosting to be a bit too sweet.

DELICIOUS! If you want a wedding cake that not only looks incredible but also TASTES INCREDIBLE, short street is for you. They use ALL NATURAL ingredients, and you can truly taste the difference. We thought we knew what flavor we wanted, but after sampling the flavors we decided to go with more than one because they were all delicious. Our guests even said it was the best wedding cake they had ever had. We highly recommend Short Street Cakes- they will make your wedding cake vision come true!

Wanted to have a special cake for my daughters BD because she is very sick and instead of getting from ingles i thought i order the cake this time from a bakery! The decoration was beautiful, but the cake was very dry, no moisture at all and stiff, for $45 i was really expecting something much better :( very disapointed

Stopped in and grabbed a few gluten free cupcakes for my daughters birthday, at the last minute, and I was extremely grateful that you had any at all. I'm from out of town and didn't plan ahead to accommodate the gluten free need. Let me tell you.... I was blown away at how amazing these little cakes were!! My daughter is gluten free and I am leaning that way but not always thrilled with the taste...but these were beyond scrumptious!! We both ate in silence aside from the "mmm... this is so good" comments and savored every little bite. Please keep doing what you do because you have two new BIG fans that will support all that we can!

I ordered four bunches of 24 mini cupcakes for a small wedding I had this past weekend and everyone LOVED them. Their favorites were the strawberry shortcake and the salted caramel, but all were fantastic.

My husband and I got married at the end of October, and we chose Short Street Cakes to provide our 2-tier cake and two pies (apple & cherry). We are soooo happy with our decision; everything was -DELICIOUS-!!! The initial tasting was a fun and pleasant experience; we loved the cupcake portions and coffee. The staff were extremely kind and informative, and full of helpful suggestions. We decided on a tier of white cake and a tier of chocolate, both with crushed strawberry filling (which is to die for!!). On the day of the wedding, the cake and pies arrived on time and looked incredible. During the tasting I had shown Kelsi some photos of what I was hoping for, and the final product was spot-on and absolutely gorgeous. Kelsi also decorated the cake with some fresh flowers on the wedding day and did a spectacular job. Both pies were delicious and perfectly baked. Definitely a hit with all of our guests, and we're already planning to get an "anniversary" cake next year just to enjoy it again!! Thank you, Short Street Cakes!!

I had a birthday cake delivered to me (vanilla with light chocolate icing) and it was absolutely delicious. I went back recently and got some mini cupcakes, all of which were very tasty. The staff was super friendly too! Go there.

Short Street Cakes came highly recommended to me by my venue Claxton Farm as well as local family members. When planning my wedding I traveled over eight hours in one day to do my cake tasting alone as my active duty military spouse was gone. His one request was a lemon cake. I ordered a two tier Almond Pound Cake with Lemon Curd Filling and Buttercream icing. Two days before my wedding, I even called and confirmed the order, arrival location and time with the bakery. It seemed I had nothing to worry about. Well that was until, we cut into the cake. I smashed the cake into my husbands face and realized it was not the correct cake at all. Somehow we received a cake with raspberry filling instead of lemon. The larger issue is that my husband is allergic to raspberries and I smashed it all over his face. I have emailed twice and made two calls attempting to find where the mix up occurred and what can be done to make it right. A $350 cake that was correctly ordered and contracted but not correctly executed, I have only been offered a $30 refund. No apology or attempt to make it right. As much as I want to recommend Short Street Cakes, I simply cannot due to the lack of customer service I have received. I have requested a conversation with the owner and am hoping it will happen in a timely manor as our wedding was over 3 weeks ago. If you re looking to receive what you order, I would suggest looking elsewhere.

I had the flan, and it was fabulous. Generous quantity, creamy and delicious! Short Street gets it right. Kelsi is a sweet, young lady and very helpful. We enjoyed our visit to the shop. It was very clean and cute, vintage style. We hope to try more of the pies next time. At Christmas last year, we had the ginger pear, and it was amazing. We only visit NC twice a year, and stop every time.

4 stars cause typically love this place. However Google says they close at 6 pm on Wednesday and I showed up at 540 to find them closed. Was hoping to get cupcakes for my kids mom bday. No worries, just please change your times listed with Google of you can

Our weddings cakes were beautiful and delicious. Adam, who designed the groom s cake, was amazing, putting in extra time for design and always very responsive. Our experience started our shaky, due to their old manager. Our tasting was cancelled last minute after double-checking the scheduling and traveling fro Texas, our order never seemed to be filed properly, and we had to call multiple times to inquire about its status. As a result, we had a backup in place. In the end, we heard that old manager was dismissed and the store owner personally managed our wedding dessert order from that point on.

Short Street provided cupcakes and a cutting cake for our wedding, and we could not have been happier! We had tried their cupcakes several times, and knew they were our pick for our baker! They were easy to work with and communicative as we worked through flavors, delivery etc.

The cupcakes looked amazing, tasted even better, and our guests raved about how good they were! Absolutely recommend.

Their cakes are delicious! I ordered two, a white cake with buttercream and the chocolate ganache cake. They were very good and we definitely enjoyed them. My only complaint is that I asked them to do a few decorations and they didn't do them at all. I called them to order the cakes, sent an email with graphics that somewhat resembled what I wanted, AND called to confirm the cakes a few days before. Both times I spoke to them on the phone, they mentioned the decorations that I wanted. But didn't do them. Idk. I should have checked when I picked them up but we were in a hurry and the decor was supposed to be on the sides of the cake. The cakes are yummy but make sure to check them carefully before you leave.

Ordered a small wedding cake from Short Street, and it was fantastic. The strawberry shortcake received so many compliments, and it was beautifully adorned with hydrangea (baker's choice flowers). I don't have a picture of it yet, but when I do I'll be sure to post it! I am so happy with Short Street Cakes, and I will be back to order another cake from them!!

I've never gotten a full sized cake, but I've gone several times for cupcakes, and they're always to die for. They sell yesterday's stuff for cheap, too!

We sent in a picture of some dream chocolate wedding cake ideas and they NAILED it! Our cake was so delicious and a year later when we took the leftovers out of the freezer the cake was still as moist and delicious as our wedding day!

They did an amazing job of the cake I ordered for my wife s 40th birthday. It was a surprise trip to Asheville and the little details made it perfect!

I've had better cupcakes before. We went later in the day, so there weren't many choices. I honestly can't remember the flavor I picked. The cupcake itself was alright, and the icing was a little hard. I probably wouldn't go here again, but I am a picky eater and going later meant not as many choices.

Since it s the only (non grocery) cupcake joint in town, we keep going back. But I m pretty sure the last batch we bought were at least day old... frosting was crunchy. Cupcakes look like excellent homemade, not glorious fancy hipster city cupcakes. I m not sure if that s a complaint or a compliment - I don t mind it if the flavor is there. Most of the time it has been. And the people are usually kind.

a little on the pricey side - but the cakes and sweets here are absolutely phenomenal. i have kids with special dietary needs, and short street invariably has stuff they can stuff in their faces. dynamite!

We ordered our wedding cake from here and had it delivered to our reception venue. We loved the cake when we did the tasting and it would have been great on our wedding day too if it wasn t frozen solid.

Our experience here was magical. The presentation of the cake choices we made for our wedding tasting was so cute. Thats honestly what sold us on choosing them to make our wedding cake. Tomas has been so helpful and kind throughout the process as well!

Holy moly, this is some good cake!!! We used them for a cupcake bar with a small cutting cake for our wedding, and everyone was raving about the flavors we chose. The cake was beautiful, and we had some leftover after we came back from my honeymoon and it was still moist and delicious even after a whole week passed! Andrea was super accommodating even after I changed my mind for the millionth time. We loved that they offered vegan and gluten-free options, and they only use natural ingredients. I can't recommend them highly enough! P.S. Get the Strawberry Short Street - our favorite!!

This place is great. They were able to whip up a vegan chocolate cake so quickly for my boyfriends birthday. THE CAKE WAS MAYBE THE BEST VEGAN CHOCOLATE CAKE I EVER HAD!! Delicious. I m not from Asheville, but if you re in town or a local, go here!!

Short Street Cakes did my 300 mini wedding cupcakes in April 2018 (I was told only 2 were needed BUT we had several kids so I wanted extra :). I had a regular coconut cupcake for my wedding cake and am heading back there from florida in May and will be making a stop there because I never got more than a bite and it was fabulous. They set them up beautifully too- I provided apple crates and a rustic 3 tiered platter.

We had a wonderful vegan chocolate and peanut butter birthday cake for my husband's birthday. I was quite pleased to find his favorite flavors and delighted at the very professional appearance and wonderful taste of the cake.

They delivered our wedding cake on time and accommodated all of our requests, including my need for a dairy-free, gluten-free chocolate cake with caramel filling and vegan buttercream icing. My son and I are gluten free. His 9th birthday was coming & I wanted to make a pokemon cake for him. I gave Short Street Cakes my description of what I'd like the cake to look like and that the whole cake had to be gluten free. They had the cake ready on time and it was the most delicious cake I've ever eaten! Pokemon was a hit with the kids and everyone raved about the moistness and chocolatey taste. Taste store bought. They re not awful so 2 stars but super disappointed.

My husband and I choose Short Street Cakes to create a cake buffet for our wedding reception. We spared no expense to feed 130 people. Among our order were 200 mini cupcakes of various and sundry flavors, though what was delivered was only 80 regular size cupcakes. Our buffet didn't feed the nearly 100 people that did show up, including the bride and groom. When we called to diplomatically air our concern and request a reimbursement for merely half of the cost of just the cupcakes, we were told absolutely not, that it was "the same amount of batter." We were offered 200 mini cupcakes instead, which we had no need for after the fact. Negotiations went back and forth, always being met with a firm no when a refund was requested, and we were even told once by Mrs. Rhoden, the owner, that her "staff doesn't make mistakes." The bottom line is that Mrs. Rhoden and her staff got the order wrong. We're dumbfounded by how awful their customer service is and won't ever be going back to Short Street Cakes. May we suggest, instead, Karen Donatelli Cake Designs, Old Europe, City Bakery, French Broad Chocolates, or any of the other equally delicious pastry parlors in Asheville.

My amazing co-workers got me a strawberry rhubarb pie today for my birthday. Absolutely perfect! Just like my mom made when I was younger, can't wait to eat the rest! Highly recommend!!!!

Short Street cakes helped to make our wedding day a true success! When we went in for our tasting, they had set up the most lovely table with flowers, coffee, cream, and water. Throughout sampling, we discussed our vision of taste and look. The final design was a sheer iced cake with fresh flowers. We went with butter cream icing and lavender and blueberry cream cheese layers. It was both gorgeous and delicious! I will most certainly use them again for special events or to just drop by for a treat.

Short street cakes made my cake and cupcakes for my wedding... they were AMAZING. I knew when I did a tasting that they were perfect. Everyone said it was the best wedding cake they've ever had.
