Great Shoprite but the rudest employees can't imagine why from deli counter to cashier...I even say is everything okay.... Very odd.... Never experienced this in any other Shoprite.... Other than that great layout..... Food court excellent..... Sandwich counter amazing staff.....
Always busy, but always stocked. This is Newark, so stay clear of shopping within the first 9 days of the month; it gets unbelievably packed. The food is fresh. The prepared food in all stations is delicious and great for meal prep and on-the-go. All of my encounters with staff have been pleasant. Shop Rite is known for its great deals and sales. Sucks it's only open until 10pm.
Always crowded, not enough cashiers, makes it tiring to go in and get the stuffs u need. Best bet is early in the morning, this way u in and out in no time.

Though there was a seedy clientele seated on the outside of the building which made my entry questionable, I purchased food from the buffett area. Initially I wanted to eat in the sitting area by the hot food section however it appeared to be heavily occupied by slovenly dressed patrons who held seats to drink coffee. The area could have used a good cleaning.
This Shoprite in Newark is a very busy place to be. The cash registers are alway open.
The shelves are well stocked, you can ask for help and there someone there to help you.
What would make it a perfect Shoprite?

They didn't have the usual limits which makes me have to do multiple transactions for my large and growing family. They also were stocked with everything I needed which was great. Clean and neat; and with two carts, I still had a quick checkout
I have to say, I love this ShopRite. This place has EVERYTHING! Ranging from hot bar all the way to bulk items. There even an insane amount of workers at your services. Every line has a cashier and a bagger, there always workers putting out fresh foods. This is the place to go
Women at snackbar register didn t even ask for my shoprite card. I had to put it in myself. plus she was speaking to her friends to much. not focusing on her job.

The place is great... it's the crowding that sucks. If you can deal with the store being crowded then it's fine. I love the options and the store lay out. I have yet to figure out when to go so it's not so cramped in the store. Until then I prefer the shoprite in Kearny.

This is a fairly new Shop Rite. They have a great selection of items at reasonable prices. I love their express check out lines. It allows me to go in and buy a few things I need without spending a lot of time standing in line to pay.

This ShopRite is the worse!!!!!! It's always packed, the cashier's ring customers up like they don't want to be at work, (SO SLOW)!!!! Where you purchase cigarettes at, won't ring you up even if you only have 5 items or less. And there's never a motorized chair for me to shop with, but while walking around in pain & with a cane. I always find some young person joy riding around the store in one!!!! I really try not to shop there!!!!
Very large store, somewhat well stocked and clean. Has a Halal meat section, Masha'Allah, though not as well stocked as the Kosher meat (had only one Halal frozen turkey left, while carrying a ton of Empire Kosher turkeys, and some large areas where meat should be on the shelf of the Halal meat shelf; though maybe because I got there around 7 pm and it is the only ShopRite I have seen so far with a Halal meat section!).
Customers service is good. But the area not so much. A lot of rude customers
I have to give yesterdays experience 5 stars. It was a little crazy with the holiday rush, but the store manager (i think) was very helpful. I was looking for an item and hr literally went in the back and got me something fresh. Im really big on customer service and my expectations were met. Also, express check out moved really fast.

I go to the seafood department to get my steamed crabs. I seem to go at worst times though, because it's always crowded. The worst part is you have to purchase your seafood before they cook it for u, which means walking all the way to the front to wait on those incredibly long lines to pay n then walk back to the back.
They should just have a seafood cashier. Although they offer you customer service, that too can be long.
Check out was quicker than I thought it would be. Express had 4 cashiers who got us at fast

This was my first time shopping here. It is better than the other Shop Rite stores I ve been to. It was a tad busy with shoppers everywhere. The checkout lines were short and getting out was a breeze.
I went here for the first time Saturday, the 29th of Dec. Wow! The store is huge, has everything I need and I don't have to leave Newark, where I live. A friend told me about this Shop Rite, a 15 minute ride from home and I'm glad he did. Give it a try. The staff is courteous and helpful and very upbeat! I'll be back!

It's just crowded everyday all day. Other than that I was able to get my shopping completed Without much difficulty.
One of the nicest Shoprites I've been to. The cooked food was delicious. I chose items from the Asian food bar as well as the American deli. My only issue is the odd stocking method. Some products weren't stocked where they should have been or would be so I spent a lot longer in the store than I would typically.
ShopRite of Newark on Springfield Avenue is excellent choices in foods. Delicious hot tasty menus and submarine's and deli are all yummy to my tummy. This is my number store overall to shop in the city of Newark. Onlookers the submarines prepared rig in front of your face while waiting are a knockout. You just have to have an imagination for topping on your sub. The submarines are belly filling, always fresh to eat and delycious to eat.
Friendly staff that make you want to come back for more yummy subs, the best in town oh yeah. Please stop by ShopRite and get your submarine. So good that my own can last me three days and still fresh. So Cater for your next thrown party

The deli department is always slow. It doesn't matter how many customers. I was in line for 35minutes only 2 people ahead of me. This is normal unfortunately.
The best supermarket in Newark. Even tho it can get a little chaotic at times right around the holidays but that's expected at any supermarket. They sometimes run out of the weekly special priced items which is not good for business.
Purchased $120.00 mostly scrimp and snow legs. Purchased Jumbo scrimp. Got home in NY and its med, large and some jumbo scrimp. Could not back of the enclosed display refrig when sales associate was getting them from. The ones readily visible were all jumbo sized. Disappointed but believe overall its a fine establishment

Well I had a lot of faith in this establishment until Tom Mclinton the BOSS didn't wanna even hire me cause of my disability. So no Stars. He sent my application to Bloomfield location and still didn't get the job.
The shopping is fine the people at the lotto don't know what they're doing every time I go there and ask they always mess up my tickets somebody needs to fire the lady that work the lotto because they have no clue what they're doing

The line was horrendous! They were out of too many things. The Cashier was not paying attention because she kept talking to co-workers & rang up items that weren't mine & then didn't add my items correctly onto my bill.

For the most part this store is clean albeit busy. The staff in Deli and the fish market are extremely friendly and helpful.. Like anywhere it's hard to keep items stocked but they try very hard. I've honestly had nothing but good experiences here my only issue is with other customers!
The store is big and well stocked but I bought slice cold cuts and it was a mess the guy didn't even seem like he wanted to be bothered so I will go to my usual ShopRite in Kearney where they ask is this good but it's still not to bad for a quick run in
I prefer to shop here within the first hour they are open. It is a TRAIN WRECK once it gets crowded.
Store is loaded and every item is within reach even for the physically challenged. Good location, enough parking and visible police and security presence.
So that for this supermarket. They have a self serve hot/cold food bar which is very good for lunch break at work. The restrooms are kept as well as they could for the amount of foot traffic that comes in and out of the store. I love that they have greeters always whenever you come into the store and there is always security. The prices are moderate for a big supermarket. It's not too pricey and not too cheap either.
Very nice supermarket but who ever designed the Express line wasn't thinking right it's like hurry up to wait in Express Express is suppose to be fast sooo slow I think they store needs to rethink the set up
Unfortunately I can't remove the 1 star! $60 for bad shellfish. Only 1 good snow crab. What makes it even worse is I had to pay first (Newark). I don't experience such in other parts of Essex County.
This was my go to ShopRite since I moved to the area. I ve always like shopping at this brand grocery store. I took my mom into this store for the first time after telling her how much I enjoyed buying my groceries there. However, I got to the deli counter to get some deli meats and there was one person being helped and three people behind the counter. The lady being helped was just about done when the young man behind the counter told her the other guy that was just a few feet away there was going to finish her order. The entire time we waited to be helped the man that was supposed to be finishing her order was conversing with another lady employee loudly and doing absolutely nothing. I walked over and asked if we could get some help, especially since there were no other customers around. He yelled back saying it s a shift change hold on. You gotta take a ticket. Mind you I grabbed the ticket before getting to the counter. If it s a shift change then I don t understand why it s acceptable to yell at customers asking for help whether you re coming in or leaving. The disrespect and nasty attitude was just unnecessary. It was a rude way to start our shopping trip and prefer better customer service than what was to offer at this grocery store. Highly unacceptable for ShopRite.

Nice & clean however the interior is like shrunk compared to an average shoprite so you're bumping into to people (literally) when it isn't evem crowded.
I Love Shoprite They have Everything I Need It's a shame they have to have police. To monitor the store because of shoplifters,...but the Worker's were friendly and helpful.
