Beautiful resort and dealing well with our Giant dogs. Great service and customer service
I stayed for 5 expensive nights. Every time I showered I was ankle deep in dirty water because the drain was backed up. I complained about this issue 3 times and the problem was never resolved. The beds (there were 2 in our room) were uncomfortable, I had hip and lower back pains the entire time.
Really lovely location. The lobby and meeting rooms were well kept and had a very good layout. I wish I could have stayed longer and experienced more there.
Attending a wedding, and this was where the guests were staying. The room is a nice size. Has a vanity area outside the bathroom, which is nice. The hotel is walking distance to several restaurants and shops. The staff seems to go out of their way to accommodate. Overall, it's been a fairly good experience.
You get what you pay for! Cheapest resort for the worst customer service. I ve been staying here since 1994 as a child and my last 3-4 stays have continued to get worse! My room was filthy, my kids had to sleep on the dirty floor since they ran out of cots, linens weren t changed just made the beds up. Fire alarms went off 6 times one of our evenings and kept us all up. Left a message for Manager and never heard back. My after stay review was never received. Took them 9 months to finally respond to me after vigilantly emailing and leaving messages.... response I got was we will look into it . I guess it was ok for me to spend my money but not enjoy my stay. Found a new family staycation resort.
The hotel is over 100 years old and the staff loves to talk about it, which is nice. But, the rooms are only mediocre. Comfortable, but mediocre; not what I would consider on par with other so-called "resorts".
Doesn't live up to the quality of what I expect of a Crowne Plaze brand. Cooler than normal weather in Phoenix, bedding set for the warm weather and no extra blankets in the place. Seems a petty complaint but really not a satisfying evening at $250/night. Likely could have had as good a spot at any lower brand Motel closer to the airport. Ended up here because the city was sold out for anything closer to the airport and I am an IC Hotels member. Room was also very tired.
Somewhat outdated, mostly clean. Helpful staff. Ice machines on every floor. Elevators to each floor.
Nice bar lounge area. The bartender was really sweet.
The staff here is very professional and friendly. I was in the city for few days and so I decided to stay at this place. The whole time I was there, I had a very comfortable experience. I really liked their hospitality the whole time I was here.
Nice bedding. Tub would not drain. Shampoo was old or used, mostly empty. Elevator needs sprucing up. Not a premium experience given the reputation of Crowne Plaza. Good food options nearby.
Older, historic hotel. Beautiful grounds. Friendly staff. Great location. Onsite restaurants have great good.
I was there for a social event. Very nice facilities.
beautiful setting...almost like little apartments...in other words...**L O V E D~i T**...:-)
Rooms were great! The bathtub had a hard time draining which is why I gave it 4 stars.
Beautiful old hotel with large rooms and good access to entertainment and dining.
My daughter had her wedding here tonight! Beautiful venue & great attendants from the hotel staff eventhough we are still experiencing the pandemic! It almost felt like everything was back to normal other than the masks! Very clean & spacious room! We had a wonderful experience here with the wedding & reception!
The location is okay nothing too interesting around besides a few shops places to eat. The rooms were good but the shower looked old and had a mat under the mat were brown spots. Service was prompt and extremely nice the breakfast was amazing as was dinner. The pricing was 149$ a night and tax not the greatest pricing. We called the hotel when scheduling a room and they mislead us we came at 2:00AM we slept that night and the night after but they told us it would count as 1 night and when we got there it was counted as 2 nights we checked in on January 23rd but charged us for staying on January 22nd. Overall not a pleasant experience would not recommend it considering there are so many other better and cheaper hotels near this one.
Beautiful evening on the courtyard with 70 fun + guests, dancing and enjoying the evening. Staff was excellent, food served was received very well by all, and the grounds were incredible after recent remodel. Plan your celebration here
Nice hotel & good location with retaurants walking distance
Beautiful hotel, great location, friendly staff, awesome pool. My favorite part is the halls constantly smell like flowers.
It's ok ... Service and quality can be hit and miss but they do always take care of the misses promptly
Beautiful and relaxing, fantastic pillows, will return.....highly recommend
Good enough hotel. The only thing is the instalations are a little bit too old, but in very good condition
Was a nice environment for are class reunion. Lots of open space and plenty to do for those who came in from all around the world to participate
AC wasn't working but they're working on it. Other than that everything looks pretty good.
Hotel was ok . The handle broke off the bathroom just trying to open it, shower flooded. It was definitely dated. But, it is perfectly located, beautiful for events with night time having multiple fire pits open. Several restaurants are located in and around the hotel.
Love it. Great spot in centre of chandler. Staff are friendly and helpful.
Awsome hotel for a mid price ranger hotel!! Rooms are huge... Clean... And service is great.. The pool is great
Run down and dirty. I have to wonder if all the 5-star reviews are fake. I could almost overlook the crumbling buildings, but there is really no excuse for the dirt and cobwebs everywhere. This place needs a good power washing and repaint at the very least. Told the person I stayed with it feels like they are milking the last few dollars they can out of this place before they are going to demolish it and rebuild. Holes in wall in room. Food in the chair cushion. Everything in the room was worn out, chipped, patched up. Elevator was disgusting.
This hotel used to be great. But they let it go , rooms smell bad, the pool area is missing chuck of Cement, painting is more then required around the place. So bad we decided to move hotel, not what it used to be.
I was there for an event. It was a beautiful event and the staff was lovely and went out of their way to make the guests happy.
The security at the front desk after hours was very patient and quite helpful. The walkways were well lit and easy to navigate.
Public area Karen is very helpful. Keep up the great job, Karen!
This hotel holds a lot of memories for me, and despite the name change, I'll always call it San Marcos. My grandfather worked here as a caddy on the golf course. It was the site of some epic parties for me, and my littlest brother just had his prom pictures here. The resort is always going to be an important part of Chandler, and well worth visiting.
We had my daughter's wedding and reception at the Crowne Plaza (San Marcos). Annie was so wonderful to work with. She ensured that every last detail was taken care of and that the bride and groom had every request fulfilled. Covid precautions were made, but no guest felt that anything was unusual. All of the staff - from the front desk, to the servers, to the banquet manager - were helpful and accommodating. I highly recommend Annie and the Crowne Plaza for any event.
Beautiful place... we had a banquet in the ballroom for a high school sports event. The staff was friendly when spoken too but too awhile to get drink refills. Food was mediocre. Overall good plave.
Great buffet breakfast, luxurious historic setting and nice pool and outside seating. Right in downtown Chandler with great food/coffee/breweries/etc. The only reason it's not 5 star is the two rooms I've stayed in show some signs of age. Not a huge deal, just minor items noticeable if you look closely. Still my preferred hotel in the area.
Great location but that's where it stops. Published room rates are a joke as they hit you with all kind of fees that the desk personnel could not explain then hit you for a daily resort fee on top of that. Areas of the hotel were not well maintained. We had rain over the holidays and sadly their landscaping is higher than the walkways so the walkways were flooded. We had a big puddle right outside our fourth floor room which we had to walk through everyday. I asked them to take care of it three times but all they did was to put up a cone with caution wet floor on it instead of mopping it up. All in all it was far from what I expected from the ratings.
Room was great, property a little dated. Front desk staff was more interested in socializing than taking care of customers, but service improved.
Beautiful grounds for a wedding event. We were here for friends' wedding ceremony and the resort had a great ball room and courtyard area. The lobby is apparently preserved as it was when it was built in the early 1900s. We didn't stay here in the rooms but the areas for the event were great.
We stayed at the San Marcos in October 2017.
We loved it!
This trip to AZ we stayed at a chain hotel big mistake! It lacked all the charm that the San Marcos has.
Next time we're back to the San Marcos.
I work at Crust Restaurant located in the plaza as an extension of San Marcos resort. The resort offers a great night life for those staying at the hotel.
One of our go-to locations for a staycation In downtown chandler. Prime location to the downtown attractions in Chandler. Off season can always it a good rate. Super friendly staff. Rooms are ok. Plenty of parking space
While the hotel was very clean and well run, I noticed two big deficiencies. The first was that while each room had coffee making facilities - there were no cups in 2 of the 3 suites used by my party. Soon fixed by Housekeeping. Secondly, the rooms do not have a refrigerator - not even a bar fridge! And this in a very hot desert-like environment where things like fresh milk do not last long without refrigeration of some sort. I like milk in my tea or coffee!
You must visit this beautiful and historic resort in the heart of downtown Chandler. The vibe is comfortable yet pampered.
It was nice, the pools were big and looked fun but when we went in our hotel room, we found a cockroach in one of the hotel rooms.
Beautiful grounds. Sparkling pools and spacious rooms relaxing atmosphere
The hotel is set up nicely to feel like a resort. The staff is friendly and rooms are nice overall. They also have some good bath products that are nicer than the typical Holiday Inn Express. The rooms are quite cozy and there is a nice little bar/restaurant a couple blocks away.
They have some impeccable staff however the saying a few rotten apples spoil the bunch is beyond prevalent here. I wouldn't recommend this place because those whipp are rude will ruin the entire experience. They create such a toxic atmosphere.
Old, room and elevator stunk... had to hold breath in elevator. Service was terrible and staff vacuums by the bar at happy hour. No sundries or gift shop and no room svc after 11 pm.
Great resort. They took care of us well. There are several shops nearby and a lot of great places to eat within walking distance. A Continental breakfast would have been nice, but nearby restaurants helped there.
Update: we thought we left a bag there. Deshawn, from housekeeping, went above and beyond to search for the bag. Then my mom told us she had it!!!
Kudos to the housekeeping staff for searching for a lost item.
We booked a stay and play over the Easter weekend at this hotel...it was in great shape and the staff was very courteous and friendly...Before booking I had mixed feelings about staying here...glad we took the chance because it was wonderful...food was excellent and by talking with one of the staff we learned it was under a new ownership...we hope to visit again in the near future...it was a great getaway!
Yes it is an older building and yes it kinda has a funky smell when you enter the room with no ac/heat air flowing. But the service is what makes it great. Roomservice was quick and Stacy a great laugh. Food was good but a bit overpriced (like all hotel roomservice). Breakfast was the typical hot and cold items the service staff was awesome. Even when 30 of us hit at the same time, Linda was always smiling and quick to take our order, refill coffee. Checkout was a bit congested with only 2 people working the desk and another person (manager i guess) just standing in the lobby greeting people and a bunch of the 30 checking out.
Great location, friendly staff, hotel has great atmosphere and historical charm
Staff is great but last August we stayed there and spent $160 for 2 joined rooms with free breakfast. This weekend Oct 2018 we spent $300 for the same 2 rooms and no free breakfast, I went and asked and they said it's because I didn't buy breakfast with our room. Huh? Also I tried to cancel the reservation 1 hour later to stay closer to our event and they told us sorry your getting billed at least 1 room anyways. So we were stuck staying there. This place sucks now.
Plus 2am in the morning lots of people screaming outside. Never again will be staying here
Old dumpy rooms without fridges or microwave. Very dated, broken equipment. If you're interested in going without golfing, don't. You can get better rooms at Best Western for half the price.
Rooms are older style. For the presidential suite it could be better.
Went to the basement speak easy. The atmosphere was a 10/10 the speciality drink menu had super creative and tasty drinks. The prices were steep. Very steep for the area. Its a tough sell because of that. If they could bring the prices down a few bucks across the board then id be in there more often. As is, this is just an oddity to have a drink at before the night starts.
Big rooms, relatively clean, within walking distance of some shops & restaurants. But this isn't a 4-star hotel. Dated, a bit run down, food is meh and missing small touches like robes and slippers.
This could be a conceivable staycation destination. The Crown Plaza Hotel & Resorts is a beautiful looking complex. If I am not mistaken it is going for a white walled, mission style feel to it. If you stay here you will be walking distance away from all sorts of bars and shops.
I have not stayed at the hotel, but I have eaten there, had conferences there and spent tons of time around their facilities for work and play. The have an unbelievably nice staff, Crust is amazing, and I'm learning cool new things about this place constantly.
