Excellent customer service!! I've never stayed at this hotel but their customer service is great! My husband is a pilot and was staying here the night before Father's Day. My two little boys were sad to not be with their dad on Father's Day so they wanted to send him a surprise breakfast at the hotel. I didn't know if it would be a possibility but I called the hotel anyway to see if they could help me make it happen. They were more than accommodating! Vanessa at guest services and Brandy at In Room Dining were amazing at helping us pull off this fun Father's Day surprise. They were both kind and very helpful. Thank you for helping my little boys help their dad feel loved and special on Father's Day!!

I had a wonderful stay at the Sheraton Gunter Hotel. I stayed here on business from 01/06/20 through 01/10/20. The hotel is located right in the heart of the downtown, near everything. Parking is valet and a bit pricey, so if you can avoid the car, you're better off. The front desk service is excellent and attentive. The hotel is very clean, and it is maintained in all of its historic grandeur. The lobby is spectacular. As is the casual restaurant on the Houston Street side. Breakfast and dinner are outstanding. But like we all do, go to Riverwalk, get ripped off and then realize that the best restaurant was right under your nose, hahahaha. The gym is a tidy little affair, and it has what one needs to stay fit on the road. The rooms are spacious and clean. The bathroom is modern and well appointed. I definitely plan to make this hotel my go to spot next time I am back in San Antonio. Thanks Sheraton.

I booked the hotel room for 3 nights. . I was very disappointed with the fact that it was noisy all night. The Ac units kept me awake all nights. I suggest that customers should avoid booking a room on the lower floors because of the noise.
I wold not recommend this hotel .

It's easy to tell that this building has incorporated a lot of remodeling because it is old and you can smell mildew and age in certain areas of the building. I could so much so that I believe it gave me cold or flu-like symptoms, or triggered allergic reaction during the 3 days I was there. There was dust and cobwebs in areas of the bathroom.
They have a nice bar near one of the entrances though.

The hotel is very nice, but everything closes at 11:00, no room service ! The bar has wine by the glass dispensers that were not working and were not working 2 months ago when we were here! Not good management on that situation !! Need better service in the bar for sure !!!

Great hotel, very nice beds and... uhhhh the pillows are like sleeping on little angel clouds straight from heaven. Best sleep over gotten in years. Overall, this hotel is conveniently located downtown and has an awesome history. Thanks Sheraton hotel for making my visit a memorable one .

I really liked it here, the service, the view (I was on the 8th floor), the look of the hotel. I also liked that it is known to be haunted from somebody being murdered in that hotel in the 50's or 60's.

Pros: Great location, especially if you have tickets to a show at the Majestic or the Empire. Close enough to the Riverwalk to get around. Restaurant was good. Beautiful historic building, plenty of interesting things to see inside.

Cons: terrible water pressure in the shower. Could barely rinse the shampoo out of my hair. Housekeeper never came to make beds. Prices at the little market are insane., you're better off being seated at the restaurant or go elsewhere. Air condition could have been better Pool was dirty and cloudy.

Room's are really tiny, as is the bathroom. I had to straddle the toilet to use the sink. Part of the ceiling in the bathroom had apparently just been repaired, there were large bits of plaster on my towels on the rack as well as all over the floor of the room. No room service the day after I arrived. For $200 a night it's a joke. On the plus side the lobby was nice and the staff was friendly.

The staff here is great. I have stayed here a few times when coming back to visit after moving away and it s always been top notch service. But one of the best experiences I had was when a manager took me and a friend on a small ghost tour around Halloween. To.d us some great personal stories. That s the kinda small touches you don t get in many places. But this places also is a bit older but that s ok, I always look past that because it s in a great location in the downtown area .

We booked a stay at the Sheraton Gunter and do NOT regret it. The proximity to the Majestic Theatre and the Riverwalk was perfect. The staff was very friendly, and the hotel was clean and beautiful. I am a HUGE history buff so that was a plus since the hotel is a little dated. The room even had a sound machine that we used at night which kept the noise from the street very faint. Overall...great service, great location, great hotel! Will definitely consider staying here again!

Historic hotel with interesting architectural details. Modern rooms with a safe and coffee machine. Small but adequate bathroom. Nice towels and bedding. Comfortable mattress. Friendly helpful staff. Great location near the River Walk and downtown. Two things reduce my rating; 1) they turned off the AC for repairs 6am-6pm on a hot summer day, and 2) the hotel ran out of regular coffee. I'm not joking, they only had decaf for the in-room coffee makers. Seems like poor planning/poor management. I wanted to rate the hotel higher, I hope you have a better stay.

Location of the hotel is great and I appreciate not having to pay a separate fee to have a pet stay with you. Like everyone said, rooms are out dated and bathroom is very small. The tv sound kept going in and out and the rooms were humid. For the price and location I d stay here again, but it s not great. Oh and valet parking is kinda expensive, so I d recommend parking in a parking garage.

We arrived Friday evening and was greeted with smiles and great customer service. Once we stepped off the elevators to our room (8th floor), it immediately seemed as if we were in a different place. The hallways were dimly lit and had a sort of wet/mildew smell. Once we arrived to our rooms the stretch worsened. We ended up calling the front desk after discovering one of the beds were damp with dirty linen and the shower leaked. We were quickly given a different room. For the price of the rooms I expected much better. We only stayed one night and received a discount due to my employer. I wouldn t stay beyond one night and there s no way I d pay full price. The location is great because you re a few mins walking distance from the river walk but the hotel could use some renovations. The lobby looks very nice but the rest of the hotel could use an upgrade.

Paid an arm and leg to stay at this hotel and it was horrible.

1. AC didn't work very well.

2. Water pressure for hot water was lacking.

3. Room was cramped. Could barely walk better the bed and desk with chair.

4. Bed was uncomfortable.

5. Shower looked like it needed cleaning.

This hotel is beautiful from the time you walk into the lobby. The heated pool was wonderful . The hotel less than a 10 minute walk to the Alamo. We were able to walk to several destinations from here. We got a comer room which was nice if I have to give this hotel one con it would be that the heater/AC vent faces the bedroom however the bathroom stayed chilly since there wasn t a vent in the bathroom.

Our family had a great time during our stay at the Sheraton Gunter. It was a 20 minute drive to Seaworld/Six Flags and blocks to the Riverwalk! The front desk staff was friendly and valet was prompt and courteous. The breakfast buffet at the Market was good, but there are many options close by.

The hotel is very historic, but has a modern feel throughout. The beds were comfortable, TV was new and air was cold. Couldn't ask for more!

I would highly recommend for couples or families looking for a weekend getaway in San Antonio!

I've never had a problem with any of the Sheraton hotels until now. I booked my stay for three night two months in advance and requested a King size bedroom to be checked into 2 queen size beds and a extremely small bathroom.

This hotel was an absolute bargain. I am very happy with my stay for many reasons:

1. The proximity to the RiverWalk was key. We were just over a block from the Northwest corner of the RiverWalk; the part where you want to be. It was a great starting point for our visit.
2. The hotel is very nice. It has some old world charm, unlike many more modern hotels. My daughters marveled at the decor, and the wide open area downstairs.
3. The staff were top-notch. Not only were we asked for help with the car, bag's, etc, but the front desk staff kept my kids busy with a toy box while I checked in.
4. At many nice hotels, I feel like I am getting nickel and dimed at every opportunity. Not so much here. They had appetizers in the lobby, suckers for the kids, and many other extras.
5. The rooms were quiet and nice. There is a small trade-off for older hotels and how modern they are, but the room was well decorated and plenty spacious. They also had Netflix for my kids to keep them busy before bedtime.
6. For adults, there was a choice of two bars downstairs.

Overall, this place was fantastic and I would highly recommend it. I would say this even if I paid more, which you will rarely hear from me :-)

Was in town for my daughter's Air Force graduation. A big thanks to everyone on staff! Amy and Rhone made it all "easy". We had a large group (including a dog), and a packed itinerary, so we came and went ALOT! Kudos to Mark and all the valet staff for an impeccable job. They were on point until the bittersweet end and a 6am checkout. :) Again, thanks everyone

Great hotel, terrible parking service.

We waited 20 minutes to get our car and there was a long line behind us.

We paid to valet the car, when we went to pick it up only one person was working and she had no clue what she was doing.

There where 5 people at the front desk and I told them she needed help and they said that they couldn t do anything about it because it was a third party company.

We paid the hotel for parking (not the third party) and it s on the hotel property. Dose not matter if it s a third party company or not. Your need to make sure your guests are taken care of. I gave them a two star review because if I paid $160/night for a room plus $32/day for parking this shouldn t be a problem.

Great service but building was roughed up a bit. PARKING is $32 a night. Obviously very old but interior of room was neglected. Tub was peeling and needed resurfacing and hardware was hanging off. Sink was cracked and walls in hallways were so scratched up from bags they needed paint badly. Pretty clean but in poor repair. For a Sheraton I was surprised at the state of things. Bed was comfortable though!

Disappointed!! My recent stay at the Sheraton Gunter, in San Antonio was not good. We drove down for Fiesta, and pick this hotel for not only the location, but because it had available valet/ parking. When we arrived for check in we were told there was no parking available, and we could try one of the parking garages and hopefully try again tomorrow. Later that night, around 2 a.m. the AC unit in our room began leaking lots of water. I called down to the front desk to inform them and the gentlemen says," well we have a room next door if you want to move". That's it!! At 3 a.m. I am repacking my room up to move next door and no one even offered an apology! NO ONE!! Not the front desk, not the valet, not even the guy who brought us our new room keys. No one asked if everything was ok in the new room, no follow up at all. My husband and I travel alot. We understand things happen. It's not about the things you can't control, it's about the things you can. We will definitely never stay at this location again, or any other and plan on leaving telling our experience to others.

The location is nice, parking at the hotel is quite expensive so I opted for the garage across the street for $5 as opposed to $32. Lobby is very charming and still has historical perks of it being an older building. Rooms were clean and a good size. Would stay again.

The Sheraton Gunter Hotel was beautiful and welcoming. Fresh cookies upon arrival and fast and easy check-in. The location was perfect for attending the show at the Aztec Theater, quick walk from the hotel. BEST OF ALL, the hotel staff went above and beyond after our stay. My son left an item in the room and didn't realize that he forgot it until we were half way home. I texted the hotel front desk, and Jennifer asked housekeeping to check the room to retrieve the forgotten item. The loss prevention manager shipped the item FED EX and we received it the following morning! I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone. Thanks!
