We boarded the wooden trailer from Pier 39 to Union Square. Beautiful way in a beautiful, classic San Francisco trailer. We arrived at Union Square, had a wonderful suny day, sat in the cafe on the square. Fun to look at the square, and the passers-by. The heart of San Francisco. Around , all the famous stores and biggest brands and in the US. highly recommend!

Was busier then usual being a holiday weekend, but I think the crowds kept the homeless people away, I did have to step over a pile of human poop, but it looked dry so it was most likely from the day before. As a local I usually avoid this place but I had guest in town so we did the tourist stuff and I had to explain why this beautiful city smells of piss and weed. So overall it was just a normal day

An iconic place to visit if you're in San Francisco. Right now (December '18) the square and parking lot area is under construction, so it's not the prettiest site to visit at the moment. However, if you want to feel the Holiday spirit, this is the place to come.
There's a giant Christmas tree in the middle of the square, as well as an ice-skating rink.
On regular days, you can see artists showcasing their artwork too.
There are many restaurants in the area to each lunch/dinner

Its a square, not the biggest but its central to San Fran.

There is a large Macy's and lots of streets which house eateries, upmarket shops.

Many of the bus tour companies have offices or pickup points here.

Was very crowded, but fun atmosphere, we were there a few days before Christmas so there was a huge tree on display with ice skating as well. Lots of "dirty dog" vendors. I didn't try it but it smelled fantastic!

I sold my father here. Scott's is a traditional, Seafood, elegant restaurant that has stood the test of time. The brunch was 75 per person excluding tax, but it was worth it. I only wish I had run a marathon so I could enjoy really, really enjoy all the food. A great view, a bit old fashioned or traditional to others, Scott's is dependable and is a Oakland tradition.

It's popular among tourists and residents alike! With no shortage of brand names, it's definitely worth checking out if you're into shopping.

The area isn't the most pleasant, but given the number of people around, it definitely doesn't feel unsafe.

Lovely spot to meet up with people and starting walking around and exploring. Not much but a square with some seating, architecture and currently the Decorated Tree and an ice skating rink! Surrounded by the high end stores and options for food and drink!

Who would not like to be there with seeming unlimited option of cultural activities from luxury shopping, local stores/foods, multicultural. Once lived in nearby cities, visiting union square area once in a while is treat for me, albeit crazy crowed and very expensive food/lodging/parking

I gave the rating for the poor construction management going on around the Union Square. I visited SF again, after 3 months, and it's still the same. There was a small temporary ice-rink establishment over the Christmas week that gained another star from my end. I don't know what more to rate a city 'square' on.

The gem of San Francisco. I especially love Union Square in December when all the holiday flair and the ice skating rink is up. The energy here is always uplifting. The park is beautiful and makes you feel like you're in the center of the city.

It's a nice area in the middle of downtown. There are usually folks there selling paintings. There is a coffee shop on the one end and various places to sit and take in the city. The Grand Hyatt and the Westin each are right next to it. Macy's/Cheesecake Factory/The Burger Bar are on another side.

Nothing to see but a place to enjoy looking around. You can sit and enjoy the city. Lots of homeless people. It is the place for several bus tour as well. There is a limited number of table where you can sit and eat. No public restroom, little shade but mostly under the sun.

This is San Francisco s downtown area, and one of the most happening places in the city. Around the square there are a lot of department stores, boutiques, hotels and restaurants. Further down are theatres, shopping malls and cinemas. On the square is an amphitheater where there are performances in the evening. A good place to hang out, shop a bit, and eat. You can also catch a historical cable car from here to the Fisherman s Wharf.

Union square at xmas time? What's not to love? I took my daughter to see the SPCA's selection of kitties and pups in the Macey's windows. We were just supposed to look. I was very clear that we were just going to look. I was firm. She was agreeable and didn't beg. And yet, the adorableness was too strong and I was too weak. The teenage kitten is a hoot. Total character.

Shopping! What a beautiful City San Francisco is... and you can (should) not visit without stopping by Union Square. From what I can tell the most popular fashion icons/designers have stores or boutiques here at the least. The majors like Neiman Marcus, Barney's New York, Macy's, etc are on location. My daughter kept mentioning LV... a nine year old into fashion, design and expensive taste!

Union square is known for the fancy stores located around it. The Square was under construction, so I I didn't enjoy the real thing. I visited the area in Christmas Eve, the traditional tree sponsored by Macy's was there and also an ice skating platform for kids and adults to enjoy. This is a good spot to catch the hop on and hop off tour busses.

Located at the heart of SF, this lovely, cozy square attracts numerous people in the evening and at the weekends during the holiday season. Especially beautiful at night, lit with decorations and sounding in the voices of saxophone and pipe, the Union Square will definitely bring you the spirit of a holiday.

I feel like Union Square is worth a visit JUST to check out the Neiman Marcus store there. Make sure you make reservations at the Rotonda tea room at the top of that Neiman Marcus if you're going to be there anyway.

Great shopping! Anything you can think of is probably here. Highly recommend a visit if shopping is your thing. It was really cool to get to shop in designer and department stores that we do not have where we live.
