A place to feel the pulse of the city. Plenty of street performance too.
A place to feel the pulse of the city. Plenty of street performance too.
Love that backyard party kings band that's out there. Give me life
We visit throughout the year but the holidays are by far the most beautiful time to visit. Do expect crowds and lots and lots of traffic.
Cafe's for light meals with outdoor seating.
Can catch sightseeing tour busses from here all day every day.
Great place to hang out, they have shopping of course, Ice skating, a huge tree, great places to eat and have drinks, it gets really crowded during the holiday season though.
Outstanding holiday lights. A must visit during the holiday season
Wonderful time. Great atmosphere. Love being in the midst of the hussle and bussle of it all.
Big open space. Lots of people. Pigeons. Homeless people. Selfie sticks.
The seasonal teams they have in this union square are great and must visit if you re Visiting San Francisco
It has a wide space to sit together. And heart at each corner
Wonderful place, so worth a visit. Right next to Macys, tram stops and so central.
Great view on 46th floor bar at Hilton Union Square
Happening place .. lot of stores.. buzzing with life. Cable cars add up to the fun take the Powell- Hyde route for some awesome views of the city.If you like being in the heart of a city this is the place.
Unforgettable part of my first trip to and first night in the U.S. I was walking around here at about 2 in the morning as I couldn't sleep due to jet lag. That and suffering a broken heart (long story). It was raining and it was colder than I'd ever experienced before (tropical islander!) There was this huge Christmas tree set up in the square. And the pretty lights on it, on Macy's and the surrounding buildings made me feel even more miserable. I tried to cheer myself up at a nearby Walgreen's with a pint of cherry pistachio ice cream. It worked. Sort of.
Must see place when visiting the City of San Francisco!! Lively place with a plethora of unique cultures and high end styles in shops surrounding this spot. Sit down and enjoy the afternoon, plan your route or just take a rest from walking.
It was wonderful. All of the Christmas lights were gorgeous and I've been seeing them for 60 years now.
Could be better without all the street beggers, very sad to see the USA doesn't do anything for their homeless.
Very expensive, hard to find a simple thing like a good coffee
They do things and have everything you might need near by. If you plan on using the trolley going to towards Fisherman s wharf then catch it at the bottom of the hill. I had to wait 20 minuets at the north west corner of union square for a trolley that had space on it for three people. But over all it s a great place to visit in San Francisco s and gives you a good sample of the culture.
Center of the city, quite lively, surrounded by stores such as Macy's and Saks. Currently winding down the winter season with only the ice rink remaining. From what people had been telling me, I was expecting it to be dirty and dangerous. That hasn't been the case.
Great place for a cup of coffee and people watching. Convenient little coffee shop near the entrance. Excellent place to sit and chat. Very relaxing. We'll go there again.
Nice place to walk around, take pics and try delicious snacks!
Great place to get your bearings
Plenty of shops and places to eat, Macys, Saks etc. The cheesecake factory is in Macys (though personally I thought it over-rated, service very slow, food not all that and expensive, and staff not worth mentioning ) Place to pick up the hop on hop off buses. The sun didn't come out until noon most days so remember to wrap up warm,
Amazing shopping, fun places to eat, and quaint bars around every corner.
Always busy busy but always find what you looking for, either is shopping, eating, sightseeing.
Beautiful little square that's a nice place to just sit and unwind when you have time to kill it or just wanna chill. Right in the centre of downtown, so nice place to take a break from shopping or whatever is happening. Sometimes they host little cultural festivals that are very interesting and fun. Recently saw the Taiwanese American Cultural Festival, it was quite nice. They have a few cafes there, haven't tried them yet but will very soon!
Great place to visit, chill and watch the world go by
The grassy recreation area is all commercial, Union Square right!
Its all there , want to shop till you drop then all around Union square is the place to go , every store front you ever imagined its all there within walking distance , plus plenty of cafes and restaurants to keep you going People in San Fran are awesome friendly and kind and as a traveler on her own never felt happier :) San Fran Love you.
I love Union Square! It's like the heart of the city. Great shopping, excellent views, right in the middle of it all. A lot of action everywhere you look. I enjoy just sitting and people watching.
This place is incredible, a must be, once you trip to San Francisco. Here, you can count of the magnificence of the City.
Very touristy spot which attracts homeless, solicitors, and possibly pickpocketers. All this said, still a decent central location area for shopping and sightseeing. Can get from Union Square to Chinatown, the theater area on Geary, Macy's, high end shopping, etc. A good place to start if you are planning on doing the hop on hop off bus or trolley.
I loved this square and all the Christmas lights and big tree!
The entire area is very nice. There are a lot of stores for shopping; all in a variety of price ranges and categories. Macy's is separated into two stores (men and women), which both offer great views of Union Square. There's also plenty of restaurants and cafes nearby to grab a quick snack or meal. There are also a lot of different hotels to choose from and both major tour buses have stops around the square. I only wish Union Square had more tables in the plaza to just sit and enjoy the view.
Lots of shopping and a fun buzz throughout the area. No shortage of dining options, either. A must visit in San Francisco!
One of the centres of attraction in San Francisco. Great shopping destination.
Nice plave to hang out.. Nice stores and walking distances to each other
There is a great view from the Cheesecake Factory at the top of Macy's
Lots of room to relax with plenty of shopping around
Union is cebtrally located in downtown amongst the high rise and wonderful shopping area. The square is a busy area with place for benches for folks to rest or eat lunch. Underneath the union square is parking garages with reasonable rates, we spent about 2-3 hours in the area and paid about $6.00, The place also has nicely decorated park and a hub for catching tour bus. Has lot of places to eat around the area too.
Great place to be in SF at holiday time. Festive, close to Chinatown, good places to eat and shop.
Union Square certainly has fashion in mind with a full experience of eye wondering exercise. Union Square is beautifully laid out, clean and safe. Great place to spend the day by yourself or with a group. Whether you want it or need it, you'll definitely want to buy it. Powell Street cable car turn about is at your service for the San Francisco must do experience. Spoil yourself and enjoy Union Square in San Francisco.
lovely square wish it had more trees and less crazy tweakers but the people that lead walking tours from there give the space a sense of aliveness.
Hub of all activities in downtown San Francisco. Can shop, eat or catch site seeing buses from the area
That time of the year again. Christmas tree & lights & PEOPLE everywhere. Must visit if you are tourist & want to feel the holiday ambiance.
Great place to people watch. I love how the square warms up even on a cloudy day. Lovely place to sit in the shade or catch some evening sun
Always top viewing pleasures here predominantly at night when the city lights are on and the crowd factor is less. Make sure you leave here at midnight sharp because if you don't there's a ghetto security guard wannabe that will try intimidation techniques to scare you off he gets a kick out of that but fear not we found out from actual union square staff that he's harmless and mentally challenged which was hard to tell at first. Again don't let him frighten you if by slight chance you happen to see this guy. Enjoy the Square!
Always like going to union square. Great place to people watch. Tons of shopping. Especially love going during the holidays. All decorated and ice skating rink.
Definitely a great shopping experience if that's what you're looking for. Shops and stores and restaurants as far as you can walk and tons of great people watching opportunities. This is definitely one of the places to check out if you're in San Francisco.
This Is one of my favorite afternoon / after work spots... Its the halfway point between work and home so on a nice day like today its the perfect place to stop for a beer, relax and people watch. Its even cool in the winter time as they have an ice skating rink and giant Christmas tree...
Union square is more like, the center of the city. Nothing special, but is normally the meeting place for your buses. Busy place in the middle of stores and hotels. Close to train station and cable cars. A good place to start your day, but nothing to really see.
I live in the bay area and Union square is a must for my family during the holidays. We love it. Went to the ACT theatre and saw A Christmas Carol. Always a good memorable time.
Always have a good time here in SF. Union square is indeed a great place to view around powell street.
The most tourist place I've ever visited. But great access and places to wander through nearby
Great spot to meet up, colourful trees and flowers :) very central and a great place to stay near!
Great place to bring your family. Parking is right underneath the Union square, just park your car and walk around. Enjoy some amazing meals, walk to the Chinatown and get done within 2-3 hours.
awesome to go der during Christmas all the lights. and people makes it a real Christmas holiday
Awesome Christmas tree and holiday parties throughout the city
If you are visiting SF with your beloved one who likes to shop, then this place is definitely a place to come. There are many fashion retail stores around this place. But lets make sure you stop by the center of Union Square and appreciate the history of this place.
Cool and nice place to visit. A lot of art around to enjoy and to take some photos!
i rlly like that shopping mall but those homeless ppl......it makes me depressed........plz help those ppl it means so much 2 them
I love Union Square right before the holidays. In the center they have an ice rink set up and there's a giant Christmas tree all lit up. Then down one of the side streets between Luis Vutton and Macy's is this holiday walk through where they block off traffic and fill in with artificial turf. Every year there are various vendors and celebration things down this street that's fun for the family.
It was a really beautiful place to appreciate the sunset at.
It is special during this time of the year..Merry Christmas all
Great place to shop, you can find almost all brands .
Do NOT attempt to hail a Lyft or Uber here (on weekends)! I 100% guarantee you will not get a ride and will end up fighting with the driver because he won't look for you. Pretty sure this is only used as a mooring point for the endless parade of tour buses. If you like to spend time in busy airports with no chairs, you'll LOVE it!
Union square is a must see spot. From shops to restaurants and hotels galore. You can catch a tour bus or chill in the square, its where everything is happening day or night. On the weekends there's live bands & space for dancing in the heart of the square. In the winter you can usually ice skate. It's also walking distance to China town!
Union Square is classic San Francisco. Visitors swarm here from all parts of the world to to shop and enjoy the beautiful buildings around the square. You'll see plenty of people taking pictures by the fun heart sculptures on the corners of the square with different patterns on them. This place is my favorite during the holidays. There is a great small ice rink set up near a large tree which makes the area feel very festive. On top of that, many of the stores nearby (like Macy's) are decorated for the holidays as well. Even better, there is at least one small cafe in the square which makes Union Square a great place to grab a coffee and chat with friends.
Had dinner at 165. Stewart was amazing and the service was just impeccable. Food was out of this world. Thank you
If it weren't for the tourons, Union Square would be great. Go back to Wisconsin, doublewide.
San Francisco is a great city to visit. Lots to see and do. Cable car rides, Golden Gate Bridge, Alcatraz, Fisherman's Wharf are worth a visit. The bus tours are good value and you can get on & off the bus at designated stops.
Good place to visit and spend some time alone with your coffee. This place has 2 coffee shop, which serve nice coffee laate.
Beautiful anderen clean place right in the middle of San Francisco
Loved sitting there at a cafe watching people passing by. So relaxing
There's always fun stuff going on, it can be art, a gathering, cultural events... This is a nice place where the weather is nice, grab some food or a drink and enjoy the sunshine. Don't forget to take pictures of the heart art on the corners of the square.
Nice place to rest, but it's overly crowded by tourists and there isnt anything to do there.
