BREAKFAST AT THE HEAT RESTAURANT WAS NOT THE BEST. SERVER WERE NOT ATTENTIVE COFFEE WAS NOT AVAILABLE RIGHT AWAY BUT RICO AT THE OMELETTE STATION, JOSEPH FRONT DESK, HERMIE FROM HOUSEKEEPING WERE EXCEPTIONAL.I WILL BE RETURNING APRIL OF 2019 AND I WONT UP GRADE MY ROOM THAT INCLUDES BREAKFAST AT THE HEAT REST. WASTE MY MONEY. SORRY I WAS JUST NOT SATISFIED. IF YOU BELIEVE IN THE SAYING ( ITS EASY TO LOSS YOUR CUSTOMER BUT HARDER TO GAIN) THEN YOU MIGHT WANT TO TRAIN YOUR SERVER TO ANTICIPATE THE NEEDS OF THE GUEST AND MAYBE MAKE EXTRA TIPS.
security guard, unequal treatment on vehicle drivers
Great hotel. However, parking at hotel basement may be a challenge at times.
The only negative is that the conference rooms are in the basement with no window to the outside!
For ke rest everything was perfect.
Typical beautiful Shangri-La with all its perks. But that's about all in the area and the mall.
Very fast check in and check out
All staff are courteous and accomodating
I
Perfect place for a staycation. I m here almost every year and the place never disappoints.
Lounge access on 14th floor was good.
Good dinner and breakfast options.
Spacious rooms.
Towels did not change regularly. bedroom is not clean when we go back after our meeting still need to ask for the room service to do it.
Everyone makes you feel special. They remember my name. This reflects the entire hotel.I looked forward to swimming at 0600.The staff in the housekeeping department were our friends. The Heat was wonderful.Everyone would welcome you by your name.I am very fortunate to stay at your hotel.
PROs:
- Nice place for events and private functions.
Accessible via Edsa and St.Francis st.
- Guards, Lobby and Hotel staff are very courteous.
CONs:
- The new parking attendant (as of 11.27.2017) is somewhat rude to guests that needs assistance on their oversized vehicles.
- Traffic conjestion (depending on time) on St.Francis to Shaw blvd. and along Garden way going to EDSA.
Other than that; I would highly recommend this place.
Found trash on the cabinet and my extra night of stay which is dedicated day for rest and advance birthday treat to myself got ruined because of some hotel employees who is so careless.
Hotel stay was excellent. Exceptional commendation goes to your housekeeping staff, Hill/Gill (from Malolos), who was very accomodating and courteous. One thing I noticed tho' was that the breakfast buffet menu was always the same ever since I started staying at your hotel.
Generally very happy. After staying for 3 weeks, I was a bit annoyed that you would not let me have a free check out until 6pm on my last day. Also ... clearly the breakfast is incredibly busy from Thursday through to Sunday. I'm not sure if anything can be done about this?
I didn't find much to eat at breakfast but it was a nice hotel. Maybe Makari might be wiser to stay at Shangri La.
A definite escape from the hustle and bustle of Manila. Extremely courteous staff, beautiful building all around.
Excellent hotel...great service would come back again!
Its a 5 star hotel 5 star facilities. The Summer Palace restaurant is great.
Good location with direct connection to Shangri-la Plaza, a high-end mall. Nearby mid-range mall and metro station is within walking distance. Service is superb.
Breakfast buffet is the only dismay with lots of carbs, and local food. Ice cream is also a let down.
Throughout our stay, realised there are more locals who are here for staycations than tourists, which may explain their breakfast buffet menu.
The buffet is really good, breakfast lunch and dinner, can be had all the day. The rooms are nice and comfy, service is top notch, employees seem genuinely happy and attentive, eager to help, fully bilingual
This was a very enjoyable stay to rest and rejuvenate. The staff was very courteous and pleasant. And the rooms and beds very clean and comfortable. The pool side ambiance was very restful and relaxing. Perfect place for a staycation.
Only not so pleasant experience was the breakfast buffet. Since Heat was already full, a separate buffet was set up on the 2nd floor. But here many of the dishes weren't refilled in time, service was inadequate (probably because there was not enough staff), there were no drinking glasses in the juice station, etc. Obviously this was hastily set up to address the heavy breakfast crowd, but maybe the hotel should see how this back up location can be done to still meet the high hotel standards.
.
We loved the king bed and the signature Shang service . What i think just needs work is that the health club is on the same floor as the regular hotel guests so we had to go down and walk past by people dressed up while we were just in shorts
Great hotel with a great service. One of the best hotels I have visited.
Access to shopping malls, nice room, secured place. I just hope they can do something about the lobby smelling of food.
Great improvement compared to our previous stays in this hotel when it comes to checking out, it was much faster and more efficient. Staff are friendly and very professional.
Shangri-La Hotels in the Philippines have the greatest staff. The EDSA hotel is well-maintained and very clean. The beds and pillows are extremely comfortable; you can barely hear that the air-con is working.
I had issues with in-room dining delay (probably because the hotel was full and busy).
It would have been helpful if the front office reminded us that we should surrender the complimentary parking stub and have our parking slip validated before getting our car from parking. All their posted messages on the wall said something like "PAY for the parking ticket at the cashier at the lower lobby"; it didn't say anything about also going to the cashier even if your parking is for free. Anyway, it must have also been my fault for not asking.
Generally, I love Shangri-la Hotels. It's just that this stay is not the best one in my Shangri-La experience.
Excellent hotel. The best hotel in the Ortigas area.
It would be better if during the check in process the front desk will explain everything to you such as the amenities and activities that are complimentary during your stay. It is also nice if someone will assist you to your room and explain briefly about the room amenities. I've been to Raffles and I was expecting the same service since both are luxury hotels. If I didn't ask about the activities, I wouldn't be included on the scheduled fitness class. When I got up to the room, I have to open every drawer just to find the room amenities. I gave a 3 star rating because of the wonderful service provided from the health club and chi spa. Otherwise, I'd rate it with 2 stars.
The stay was as expected. I felt the staff are really implementing and prioritizing the safety of the guests, so kudos for that. I would however, advise the staff to be more attentive since I had to wait at one point during breakfast for a while when there was no one attending to the queue. Other than that, the stay was alright.
Rooms in the garden wing are outdated, beddings are worn out and uncharacteristically ShangriLa. Sunday breakfast at Heat is a torture as food variety is limited, felt like you have to ask for refills rather than seeing it filled up. Tables are left uncleaned ,that's the reason they want us to go to the second floor where the food is really limited. You guys better shape up or ship out.
I've always had a lovely experience staying at Edsa Shangri-La. 5/5
Generally relaxing stay. Although room's cut is somewhat small with little amenities for children to enjoy the rooms facility
- Staff was very friendly. Had a very good check in process.
- My room seem to have a damp smell which is not great.
- Also the rooms do not have proper sound proofing. For 2 consecutive nights I was woken up by sounds of loud laughter from the next room as early as 5:30 in the morning. I even complained about it on the second day. Not sure how they managed that.
- The food was exceptional. I ordered Indian meals from in room dining and it was magnificent. They have an Indian chef I think.
A wonderful stay, affordable considering amenities, metro location, and class. Stayed in the Garden Wing...very nice room.
Hotel parking difficult to find and the hotel although a nice hotel is beginning to look tired as are the rooms but the staff very friendly and helpful
Greeted at the door. Quick and easy check-in and escorted to our room. Excellent. I must say the service, attention, kindness and efficiency of JEROME, our housekeeper in the Garden Wing, was absolutely outstanding. Thank you and please express our gratitude to him.
The room is very nice. I'm just surprised that the pool is so crowded. No available pool bed so we are standing for about 30 minutes waiting for to have one.
EVERYTHING IS TO MY SATISFACTION. THE ROOM, THE FOOD AND THE SERVICE, THE PEOPLE ARE FRIENDLY & I ENJOY MY STAY IN YOUR HOTEL. THANK YOU.
It was great. looking forward to having more event in your function hall.
Its been several times that i stayed in this hotel, and this time is one of the best stay i had... No problem with check in, my room is already available, the staff were corteuos and accomodating... The amenities were fine. I was able to relax during my stay.. I noticed during breakfast at the heat, that this time they serve hot chocolate not by cup but by container and this i like because i dont have to call for refill as i enjoy my breakfast... The same with water it was served in a pitcher... I appreciate the comfort and gesture so much...
Overall experience good as usual. One problem of note was a severe slip hazard (safety issue) on floor in Heat Restaurant.
Edsa Shangri-La hotel is located between the Shangra-La Plaza and the SM mega mall. Manila had a few five-star luxury hotels but I believe Shangra-La Edsa may be the only five-star resort hotel in the area. I have stayed at the hotel twice before and happy with both stays including this visit as well. The food at the buffet (Heat) had fresh and tasty food keeping staple for those that like consistency while still rotating other dishes so longer visiting guests have a variety throughout their stay. WiFi included, security check with cars as well as at the door for everyone's protection. Easy walk way from the hotel to the Shangra-La Plaza, some shopping ball rooms for larger everything and more. One of their most outstanding features is their outdoor pool, pool side bar and smaller water slide and kids water play area. For those looking to truly relax you can also check out their spa and massage services as well.
My husband and I appreciated our stay because of the ff:
1) Excellent service. Kudos to our housekeeping staff who tirelessly catered to our calls and requests.
2) Clean and organized room and water refills.
3) We also appreciated the early check-in and late check-out granted during the last day because of our activities during the first and last day of the convention.
More power to Edsa Shangri-la Manila!
I liked the Makati Shangri-La, if I had a room after the remodeling. About 30 minutes from Makati
The building is a bit old but the atmosphere and hospitality are good.
Very good hotel. Nice staff and I will gladly return to this hotel.
The hotel staff were very helpful and accomodating. The hotel facilities are very good. It was a very pleasant and relaxing stay at EDSA Shangri-la Hotel, Manila. I look forward to future staycations with them!
This hotel is a great base for any business trip. The room was comfortable and quiet, location excellent with several malls and restaurants nearby. Mega Mall across the street, and Shangri La Mall directly attached.
The gardens and pool are quite serene and there is enough room in the lobby to just sit and wind down.
The gym is fantastic and luxurious.
Don't miss the breakfast in Heat - it is amazing with aisles and aisles of food.
Friendly staff.
when asking for extra bath amenities, the operator / guest services in the dial "0" line made me feel uncomfortable that I was asking for more consumable stuff (soaps), had me enumerate the items, indicate quantity, and instead of just saying yes, it felt like it was going to be up for review if it would be allowed. and it was the 1st time i asked.
Pillow is too soft. Everything else good. Breakfast has wide variety.
Seamless check in and check out. Well maintained property. However, some renovations for the room and hotel in general should be done.
The room was plush, clean and comfortable. The amenities provided were complete and the towels were so soft. The only reason for not giving it a 5-star rating is because of the buffet breakfast at Heat. There wasn't enough variety and the food tasted a bit bland.
Wonderful staff and services, everyone was extremely friendly and helpful. Very attentive to all of our needs. Highly recommended!
everything is perfect except the long queue during breakfast.
Megamall is also attached and it is a very convenient hotel.
I have feedback to manager on duty on the night of 14Aug evening on the lack of safety concern and checks for the guest safety during a power blackout when I was in the room between 8:55pm-9:05pm (approx) as I had to call and asked what happened thereafter as I was having a conference call in the room when power just went off.
Hands down, the best fitness gym facilities in the country. The pool area is very child friendly and the staff are always polite, courteous and ready to help. Although the lobby and breakfast area can get a little crowded with conventions and events. The parking system could also use a revamp, you still need to visit the parking cashier after getting your parking validated at the front desk. I also love the free wifi, everywhere for everyone.
We always book our seminars/trainings in Edsa Shangrila and I really love the service, the ambiance and the musicians performing in the lobby are just so amazing.
I went to watch Manila Fashion Festival and I enjoyed it
The service and teams there are outstanding. Rooms are spacious and extremely clean. The food is exceptional.
The check-in and check-out processes are very efficient.
Good location in Manila + a nice Mall directly connected to the hotel.
A bad experience in the bathroom (security bar obviously not checked broke the first time I used it and I nearly felt down in the tub) prevents me to rate an overall 5.
At last, early check-in is not very flexible or very expensive.
The air conditioning unit in Room 218 was not as cold as we wanted it to be.
The attendant at the wet floors of the sauna / steam / jacuzzi was courteous but he can be more tactful when talking to guests / clients.
The waiters at the function room (The Marquee) were a bit condescending --- they refused to give out the extra glasses of beverages, despite the fact that some delegates already checked out and did not eat lunch anymore. They insisted that the beverages were only "single serve" despite many extra glasses were just placed in the side of the function room.
great accommodation
fast service and very friendly staff
