The wall paper was peeling off. The room seems a bit old.
There was a used cue tip cotton swap from previous guests that was overlooked on the bathroom floor. It was not a pleasant sight to say the least and I had to dump it in the bin myself.
Did not feel like a 5 star.
The view on the 45th floor was also very good with a luxury hotel. The coffee machine in the room could be used for free and it was very comfortable.
Amazing place to visit. My family specialy my kids really enjoyed this place.
Summer Palace was unexpectedly disappointing when most fairly regular dishes were not available because the kitchen was too busy or replaced by Chinese New Year's menu.
After checking in, our luggages were not sent to our rooms as the staff who took care of us did not follow through. Took almost half an hour before we got them.
Breakfast at Petrus was not too enjoyable with a particular guest talking on the phone, with speaker on, walking across the own floor, numerous times. I'm surprised that none of the staff did anything to stop this. Other guests should have the right to some peace and quiet moments when having breakfast.
Other than these, most staff at Cafe Too and Horizon Lounge have been courteous and helpful.
We had lunch buffet at Cafe Too. There is quite a wide variety of cuisine covered. From seafood like crab, pawns, mussels to Japanese, Thai, Indian, western, roast meat to dim sum, there are plenty of choices.
The roast beef is a bit disappointing. I got two slices of beef which are done on one end but pink on the other. The done end was not tender.
However, they do tend to have Indian chef to see to the Indian counter and Thai Chef to work on the Thai bench.
The Thai lady chef was very helpful. She recommended a couple local favourite and when I asked she explained how the dish was prepared and how she had them in Thailand when she was little. And the vegetable wrap she prepared for me is really nice and refreshing.
Despite the failed roast, the food standard is high in general.
Excellent location with good transportation, easy access and a world class shopping center nearby. Dining and shopping, whatever you want!
Check in was a breeze. The attentiveness from hotel staff is immediately noticeable. Bernadette the guest relations manager was a fantastic welcome and extremely professional.
Room was magnificent along with all the small touches. Harbiur View was amazing! Thank you so much for the birthday cake!!! I also loved the welcome tea in room. Great touch.
Lastly, breakfast was one of my top two ever.
All in all the best way to celebrate my wifes birthday!

Nothing falls short of every experience at the Island Shangri-la. From the moment you step in 'til the time you leave. Service is simply impeccable ... starting of course from the very top. The GM, Franz Donhauser always makes every guest feel like a VIP. The personal touch coming from the top all the way to the Guest Relations Team of Bernadette, The Horizon Lounge team, The Bell Service with Philip and his team. The warmth and hospitality was felt all throughout. Island Shangri-la will always be our top choice.
Island Shangri-La HK is a great place thanks to their wonderful staff. We had one of our best stays in Island Shangri-La, HK in last week. The stay exceeded our expectations.
The hotel staff displays professionalism, warmth and courtesy in their behavior. If i compare with other similar hotels in HK, I can definitely mention that the other properties may match the facilities Island Shangri-La has to offer, but no other property can beat the customer service it offers. All this alongwith the convenience, location, great food makes it a perfect choice to stay in HK.
Cant think of any other hotel in HK which can match Island Shangri-La!
The crab cakes and the lobster thermidor are amazing. Must try. Atmosphere is nice. Beautiful room, not stuffy. Live music and a lively bar made our dinner very enjoyable.
Breakfast and cocktail food remains rather repetitive. Lessons could be learnt from the Shangri La in Bangkok.
Twice had to ask for the sink to be unblocked and the plug to be repaired. Ice bucket and glasses remained in the room for 3 days after use.
Diamond members have guest profiles. We have MANY times been asked our preferences. We are USUALLY welcomed with our choices but soon after are forgotten.
Your Executive Lounge team in Hong Kong SL is now young and rather inexperienced to deal with the pressures of a very busy lounge full of challenging and exacting clients. However Leo and Benny for example are 2 talented guys with potential. The lounge is lacking strong leadership. Since the departure of Atsuko we have not felt the same comfort and relaxation in the lounge.
We were also advised that some rooms were being renovated. Would it not have been a good idea to ask regular returning long stay guests to say what THEY would like in the room?
I visited the second buffet breakfast and it was so delicious.
The buffet is good, the hygiene is high, and the service staff has a first-class attitude.
Our experience in Shangri-la Hong Kong has been the best we have experienced. Mr. Tan of concierge arranged a car for us at the airport and we were also greeted by a representative who took our luggage to the private limousine areas for our vehicle. Our arrival at the hotel was greeted by the Hotel s General Manager Fran s Donhauser and Joan Long of guest services. They had a bouquet of flowers for my wife as this stay was for our honeymoon . This hotel is a fine hotel of American Express. I cannot even begin to Thank everyone from the bellhop to upper management to make our vacation a memorable one. The services provided is top notch and I have stayed in many fine hotels. They would make your stay as personal as possible by leaving things in your room such as notes or chocolate . When you call or email the staff, any request is answered or delivered promptly . Our conclusion of our trip ended on a sad note because we had to leave. To top it off, my wife left her jewelry in the bathroom and the staff went to the room to retrieve it. If anybody wants a great hotel and great people , this is the place to be.
The staff and service were superb on all accounts. Perhaps what illustrates this best was when Nicole Tang, the Assistant Guest Relations Manager, greeted my husband and I upon arrival. I had received a large bouquet of roses and she said, "You both look so elegant please let me take your picture." By the time we checked into our room a hand crafted card arrived with a lovely photo to remind us of our arrival! This exemplar service, extended whether having a drink in the lobby or in the bar where my husband's comment on the cherries used in his drink were "so superb" that the bartender brought us an additional cup full to sample. Such attentiveness is what brings people back and spreads the word regarding where to stay. Thanks to all for such a great experience.
Everybody was so helpful and friendly. All the services and amenities are to the highest standard. The food is wonderful. We spent four very happy days staying at the Island Shangri-La hotel.

The lobby was very clean and the smell was inviting.
The check in was quick and seamless and we were off to our room for a shower after our 9.5hr flight from Sydney Australia.

I have enjoyed staying with you before when I was in Hong Kong on business. This time it was for a holiday with my wife. I had told her what a wonderful place it is but she was still amazed by how lovely it was, especially the friendly and helpful staff, to say nothing of the excellent facilities and good food.
Bernadette at guest services was fantastic and so with Christian and the other Filipino bell boy and Stephen.
We had a lovely visit at the Shangri-La. Thanks to Maggie, it was a stay we won't forget! We are already planning another staycation at this location.
Ms Juna Yu of Guest Relations and Ms Jasmine of Front Desk made our Stay very special doing extramile service set up to our room to greet my wife a happy birthday. Everyone is very helpful and accomodating.

Very nice hotel, excellent service, fantastic staff. Even though it is not a new hotel, in general it is very well kept. Horizon Club is just fab. 5 o'clock tea at the lobby bar is so much fun w/live music. The location of the hotel mostly requires a cab ride to go to places but no big deal cabs r plenty n cheap. Our room was kind of standard n the carpet was not very clean but other than that it was good. Bed was very comfi. Lobby area of the hotel is pretty spectacular. Restaurants are great. Gym is 24 hrs. Swimming pool is very nice. If u chose to stay at the island side instead of Kawloon side then pick this hotel w/o hesitation.
I call this hotel an "oldie" but a "goodie". Stayed at the executive floors on the "Horizon Club" which includes concierge, late 4pm checkout, buffet breakfast, as well as usage of their lounge which serves drinks, champagne, hot and cold dishes, desserts, fruits, cheese, etc. Housekeeping staff and reception personnel were always helpful, professional and friendly. You are paying for excellent service and great location right next to the huge Pacific Place mall.

From check-in to check out, our experience at Island Shangri-La in Pacific Place, Hong Kong has been amazing. Each and every staff member (reception, guest relations, bellhop, etc.) were professional, friendly and welcoming. We choose to stay at this hotel for our wedding because of its elegant decor and stunning views of the Victoria harbour. The professionalism of the staff was a pleasant bonus. Upon arrival, we were presented with many warm and lovely gifts that truly made us as guests feel even more special. This hotel has been an amazing experience for us. We highly recommend it and couldn't have chosen a better hotel and staff. Thank you Island Shangri-La for making our special day even more special and for giving us a very memorable experience.
I would say I am a decent traveller who has visited over 15 countries and stayed in various 5 star Hotels across the world. Location wise Hotel is good and within 10 min taxi drive from happening places in the City. But for the price I paid I would expect Breakfast Included. Same price you can find a harbour view in this beautiful City. Their Bar is good and service is fine.

I have always enjoyed staying at Shangri La because the staff has always gone over and beyond to accommodate my needs as a guest. This time I felt a difference in attitude and flexibility. Also, the rooms are so smelly that I am really not sure it is healthy staying in your hotel anymore. In addition, I forgot a flipchart in my room after check-out but housekeeping claimed it was not to be found.
Great buffet with a wide variety of fresh seafood, hot dishes and soup, grilled beef and scallops, as well as amazing desserts.

My wife and I celebrated our third wedding anniversary by staying one night with a wonderful harbour view. She enjoyed herself very much and I have accrued some "Brownie points" for making a fuss of her and being a good husband.
Despite going to check in quite late in the afternoon, our room was not ready. My wife had a very bad back and needed to lay flat. Eric at check-in conferred with Angie and we were very kindly escorted to a meeting room where my wife could relax while we waited for our room. Eric also inquired about my wife's health the next day.
Excellent all round. Food, Service, accommodation, facilities and airport transfers. Really pleased.
I am very impressed by the service provided during our stay. Especially want to recognize front office agent - Cindy, for her patience to explain all the benefits in details and support for check in. Also, concierage staff at front office under we were waiting for family visit by hotel transfer, they kept us inform the progress. I can feel their passion and dedication to their job. well done!
