Expected more from the Shangri-la brand. The communal areas are nice but the room was very dated. NO USB slots in room for charging and a pathetic blow dryer. The checkin process took ages and the lobby staff had a far too nonchalant attitude, not the most helpful. My experience was comparable to staying at a 3.5 star hotel. The harbor view was nice though!
The front desk service is warm and courteous. Thanks to Nicole Tang for assistance. If you can give a free breakfast, it will be better. Finally, you will have to pay for breakfast.

When I arrived, a maintenance person was inside my room fixing the sink. The front desk said the room is already clean and available. Apparently a miscommunication internally in the hotel. Had to request and wait for room transfer after a tiring journey.
Very nice hotel to stay and for food and drinks. A bit too crowded at times. Need a better Japanese restaurant, the Chinese restaurant is excellent but need to know what to order.

From the moment you walk into the lobby, your holiday has begun. My daughter actually commented on how nice the staff were before we had even made it to the lifts! The beautiful scent and calming decor was much needed in this current environment.
The Harbour view room was spacious, though there was a strong smell of mildew in the room that took a while to air out. As always, I loved the bathroom products at Island Shangrila- the Occitane hand soap was phenomenal.
The only area for improvement would be for breakfast. While service was amazing, the food itself was limited and unexciting. For the cost, it is not competitive with the other 5 stars of this class in Hong Kong. I am less inclined to do a breakfast inclusive room on my next stay as a result.
Otherwise, lovely pool (which was thankfully still open!) and the staff are above and beyond!
Buffet dinner foods is good in part of Thai foods, good Thai food which I ate before in Hong Kong my lifetime until today
The front desk was very helpful and arranged for 4 adults to have a room that could be opened. The hotel staff is very friendly. The location is very good.
After a long flight having a level of service such as the Shangai La is most welcome.
Excellent stay! Old charm and great customer service. Hotel is in great location, on top of shopping mall and train station. Very comfortable bed and bathroom amenities. Will def stay again..

Fun trivia, check out the carpet in the elevator each day. They change it based on the day of the week.

Outstanding service backed by very good food. The Summer Palace dining room is a beautiful space, bolstered by attentive, caring but unfussy service. The roast pork was indescribably yummy, but most of the other dishes were just "good". Good variety of wines in all price ranges.
I miss the words to describe the more than excellent service. My expectations were more than exceeded. Every wish was read from the eyes and overreached. I have never experienced such a perfect service in any other hotel.
At first, it started with a glitch... we left the Macau-Hong Kong ferry, and the driver was nowhere to be found. Six minutes later, the driver came up and shuffled us to the nice Mercedes Executive V class, and heaven started there. From check-in formalities in the suite instead of a check-in desk, to attention to detail in the Club... and dinner at Petrus was highlight of the stay. Check-out in the lounge with luggage assistance was seamless.
If you stay in the hotel, make sure you try to get the high-rise rooms, level 39 and above... since they are in a separated "Vertical Living" section with a feng shui garden and world's largest silk painting depicting China's Great Wall... the silk painting goes from Level 39 to 56... also, make sure you take a good use of panoramic elevators while en route to the lounge.
Think I found my ideal hotel when staying on Hong Kong Island.

Great personal service, staff at Horizon Club lounge made a point to introduce themselves and to recognize and remember my name and greet by name. This personal touch is what differentiates Island Shangri-La from other hotels, even others in the Shangri-La group of hotels. Thank you.
Apart from a dripping AC in the bedroom resulting in a wet carpet in the wardrobe area further compounding into a foul smell in the bedroom and a faulty Tap in the wash basin in the bathroom.
The stay was comfortable and the overall staff were very courteous.
The only thing wrong about our stay was that it was only for one night. Luxurious accomodation and the Summer Palace restaurant was an added bonus. It was one of reasons we chose it.

Hotel - the flow is not sharp, there are many good places to go to play and shop nearby.
