Amazing experience, we loved our stay there and the staff was great!
but one issue we had our drawer and refrigerator locked. without intimation.
Outstanding customer service by the friendly ladies in the Horizon Room. I had an issue with my room which for me was big. It was handled in such a professional way by lady named Ingrid. She really saved the entire experience and made it excellent for my husband and I. Furthermore we received the nicest letter from Jessie Cue and I just about cried. Thank you for helping us and we can t thank you enough! We loved staying here and your personal touch was simply outstanding to say the least! Thank you.
I would like to recommend the shuttle bus service should include the route between the hotel and GZ south high speed railway station. It will be really convenient for those who take high speed train to and from GZ.
Fantastic hotel. Common areas, rooms and excellent service.
The restaurants are also good but in my opinion the prices are disproportionate.
Our first experience at the Shangri-La was absolutely amazing. The hotel stay were perfect. Shinyee, Katherine, Jaiden, Aiden, Freda, Penny, Hannah, and Holly treated us amazing! We will defiantly be back.

Everyone I encountered made their best effort to speak in English even though I can converse in Mandarin. I find that effort very admirable and I respect that the staffs are committed in their hospitality service. I love the food in the F&B outlets in the hotel compound and also the in-room dining. The gym is well equipped and the indoor pool is heated for comfort! Everything was almost perfect until the last day of check out when I asked for help to carry my luggages down and after 15 minutes of waiting, no one came. I carried them myself to the lobby. Not a big deal, or perhaps someone came later but there's a time constrain.
The details are handled very well and the accommodation experience is good.
Staying at Shangri-La Hotel Guangzhou is a special experience for me.
I was quite disappointed by the non working only one French TV Channel (TV5) and the queue and mess when trying to get to the breakfast area in the morning.
Also there is not a single shop wher to buy day to day useful goods (newspaper, book, smartphone products, sim cards, milk, rasor, etc..). For any need, one has to take a taxi.
Try to avoid queue in front of the reception desk by adding counters.
Your bar is in a closed room in which one cannot stay mote tha 10mn. You shoud open it and add windows.
The breakfast service attitude was poor, and there was no need to wait outside the queue (there are actually a lot of vacancies). The reception staff had a poor service attitude and made the cup of tea very impatient and impressive.
Thanks the Horizon Club manager, Miss Ingrid Liu, for her courtesy reception and assistance. I feel great when I check in at 34/F Shangri-La Guangzhou. In addition, also thanks for the free fruit and wine given to my room.

Excellent location being nearest to Canton Fair (though very quite area at night). Beautiful rooms and sumptuous lobby. Top class service. Tasty food. Lobby lounge and reception were too crowded and waiting time was too long. In room tv need more English entertainment channels besides CNN and BBC. Staff are friendly but need to improve their English skills.

We got a very fast and accurate service on all levels, from the limousine, to the welcoming by Shinyee Lee, to the personnel at the Horizon Club.
The rooms wre nice again, cleaning worked very well, so everything was perfect!
Was here last April 2014. Good choice for those attending expo or exhibition as convention centers are all around. Good view of Pearl River. Fantastic food!
My stay at Shangri La Guangzhou was horrible. I have stayed at the shangri la Bangkok and Pudong and had a better experience. Moreso , I come to Guangzhou for business just about every 3 months and have stayed at the Ritz Carlton , Four seasons , The W hotel , The Mandarin and had way better service. It was quite sad to find out that during my stay , almost all of the staff could not understand English. I was very lucky to come across my new and helpful Malaysian friend (Shinyee) who spoke very good English and assisted me tremendously. The only day she was off , I had a world of trouble. I have a translator but on this day , she was running late. I went up to conceirge to inquire about a package which had to be delivered and to book a Taxi for the airport the next day. I was shocked when a girl at your conceirge told me she doesn't understand English and left me hanging for a quick minute. I then walked up and cued on the line to talk to someone at the check in counter. When it was my turn , it took a lot of explanation for the receptionist to understand my need/want. She then walked me back to conceirge where a gentleman was present upon our return. She said he could understand English. It turns out he could barely understand me and I tried not to get frustrated. We got my package that was delivered. Now , booking a Taxi to pick me up for the airport was a whole new ordeal. We struggled and he finally understood my flight info. Now going to dinner downstairs at the buffet was very upsetting. Non of the waitresses spoke English. They will rush to clean up my table and avoid me because of the language barrier. They were even avoiding eye contact with me. I finally walked up to one and asked for Chamomille tea. She kept on saying green tea , black tea .........nooooooo Chamomille tea. She then said okay and walked away. She brought a tea cup half full with hot water and looked nothing like tea. I asked her what type of tea was in my cup and she kept on saying tea tea. I finally gave up , didn't drink the tea and left the restaurant which I didn't care if I was charged for the dinner even though I barely ate. I sat on the table for a while observing and had to even beg for my ticket to sign and leave because they were all avoiding me. Quite a pitiful and worst experience for someone who has traveled to about 40 different countries. Eva at the spa was fantastic. I went there to relax and was glad to find her so welcoming , empathetic to my experience and made me feel safe. It's scary because as a guest , if you have a medical emergency , you will die because no one can understand you at the hotel. Quite sad for such a beautiful hotel with picturesque landscaping.
Excellent location. Right next to CIFF exhibition. Nice views around it. Rooms include free smartphone to use during your stay which is a nice convenient touch. Buffets are a little over priced though. Special thanks to Tammy Wu and Sherry Cai. The birthday cake was a very sweet gesture.

With five-star service and five-star facilities and high-quality beauty, the traffic is slightly inconvenient, and the subway takes 10 to 15 minutes to walk! However, the hotel has a shuttle bus for entry and exit.

The shuttle bus service is relatively sparse, especially during check-in and check-out hours, but the car is very comfortable and the driver's driving is very professional. If you know that there is a shuttle bus next time, you will definitely choose to take the shuttle bus before you check in instead of taking the shuttle bus. The subway will take another 15 minutes to arrive. I hope that we can promote the shuttle bus service in the future.
The location of the hotel is away from the city center, and the location is also the main business guest, but the hotel is promoting the winter festival, there are also amusement facilities for children in the garden, I hope that in the future there will be some family-based accommodation discounts and activities. .
Due to the lack of play, sightseeing and shopping, and excellent restaurants in the vicinity of the hotel, guests who leave the hotel want to go sightseeing and shopping almost go back to Tianhe District or other places. I hope the hotel will consider promoting with the food group or shopping mall to attract more. People stay.
For the savings in terms of points, only the consumption within the hotel is not ideal. If you can consider other restaurants and even restaurants outside the hotel, you can attract more people.
I stayed there for 2 nights. From check in, to check out, everything was perfect for this accommodation. I travel a bit, so I recognize and appreciate a great service.

Excellent service at the Club Horizon with Ingrid's team has delivered the kind of hospitality, efficiency and caring exceeded my expectation. Highly impressed even though the club floor was always with a lot of guest and the team has manage to maintain a very high and good standard. Also impressed with the team spirit there when even the Hotel Manager, Director of Rooms appeared during the peak hours and worked hand in hand with the staff which shows good team spirit and unity there.
I heard very good things about the shangri-la hotel. I was looking forward to my stay. What can be better than a 5 star hotel with 5 star service? Nothing except this hotel is not 5stars in any way or foam. Maybe back in 1990 defiantly not in 2019!
I checked in at 10am. The receptionist put a $200 hold on my credit card. I picked up my room keys (my room was not ready at 10am) the receptionist put an additional $730 hold on credit card without telling me. My room was already paid for in advance.
I don t know why they feel like I would spend or break $1k in 2 nights unless this is a scam the hotel is running. Hoping people won t notice the second hold and pushing it through as a charge.
The receptionist cancel the $730 charge after I yelled and complain about the charges.
I ask for a non smoking room and my room smelled like a cigarette box. I couldn t air it out because the fan wasn t working. The mattress is hard as a rock. I woke up every morning with a stiff neck and backache. Food at the hotel was pricy and gross.
They have a metal detector in the lobby. I had to go through it every time I enter the hotel. It was a lot of fun getting scan and patted down. The X-ray machine has a conveyer belt with a very short shelf. There s no stopper. It just keeps running to the floor. My expensive bag kept getting thrown and drag onto to floor while I get padded down. The extra guards couldn t care less that my bag was spilling over or toss on the floor!
The hotel also looks old and run down.
Save your money and stay at another hotel. This hotel is not worth the $$$$$
The overall feeling is OK. The fruit that was sent - the peach is rotten and moldy, has taken a picture to inform the front desk, and will return the object.

It is people like Ingrid that make the Shangrila what it is, and command the loyalty of guests.
Guangzhou Shangri-La has certainly lived up to the high standard of Shangri-La Hotels. While it is not surprising to have a good experience overall, I like to point out two pleasant surprises this time. The Southeast Asia Restaurant on 2/F offers not only authentic Southeast Asian cuisines, but also a superb ambiance that is seldom seen in such an F&B outlet. The price value is also excellent. While the service is excellent everywhere, I like to recognize Peter Chen at Concierge. His patience and attention to make sure I got the help I needed is truly commendable.
I have returned to this excellent hotel in Guangzhou Customer Service level hasn t changed in one year, everyone was ready for the big affluence of people during the CANTON FAIR and everything flow seamless and smooth despite the beautiful hotel building, great facilities PEOPLE is what it makes this hotel amazing
I have to say that everyone was fantastic, but I have to highlight with very special emphasis the following employees that show excellence in service, friendly attitude with very much professionalism and positive attitude that makes this Shangri-La a very special place a truly meaning of Shangri-La These people are:
Starting with the manager Tom who was around making sure everything was running smoothly and help others with their job and all the Horizon Club employees mainly for Jessie, Ingrid, Vicky, Wing, Lewis, Gita and Donna (Chi Spa) Dana at the Lobby Bar, employees at the Jazz Bar and please forgive me if I forget your name because it s hard to keep them on my mind.
I know there are other options of hotels in Guangzhou but no one like this one and great location next to the fairgrounds.
Congratulations for all your work during my stay and Thank you so much for making me feeling like home while I was staying there I can t wait to return again to my Shangri-La .

This stay at your hotel was the first disappointing one for me. I have always felt the Shangri-la brand stood for quality and attention to detail. I was disappointed for several reasons. During check in I was asked to deposit fifty thousand RMB. This has never happened before and it made me feel as though I was distrusted. This is not the Shangri-la relationship with it's patrons. After discussing the situation with your employee the deposit was dropped to the amount to be due for the three rooms (about 28K). I accepted this as apparently it was the only option I was given even thousand I had reservations and have stayed with you for several years. When I attempted to bill my room number for dinner in the Asian restaurant I will told I could only use my credit card. The same requirement was also made when ordering room service during the final evening of my stay. Very upsetting because of the implicit distrust that I might not pay my bill! If convenience is an important aspect of the experience of staying at your hotel then you missed the mark. The first room I was given was clearly a smoking room as it had been permeated by previous patrons who obviously smoked heavily. I had to wait fifteen minutes for someone to come to the room to move me to another room. The second room also had a smoke ridden scent but it was not as severe as the first room and because I had dinner reservations with my associates I decided to accept it. The condition of your rooms is deteriorating. The carpeting is worn and has an unpleasant scent of smoke. The bathrooms are showing signs of wear and tear because they are not being maintained properly. When I arrived at the first room there were hair cuttings in the sink! As you are aware there are many five star hotel options now in the immediate area. I shall consider these when I am traveling to the fair in the future. I shall also be sharing my feelings with Mr. Patrick Zhou of Lifetime Brands who has been kind enough to allow us to stay with his party each and every time we are participating at the fair.

Overall very good! I But for the price I paid, airport transfer costs could have been included.
I was told 180RMB and when I got the airport I was charged 250RMB. There should be internal taxi service which standard rate that can be trusted.

I am a member of the Golden Circle Jade. However, CHECKIN was instructed by the staff to be in line with not members. It took me 15 minutes to get me CHECKIN. Later, they said that because the member CHEKCIN is far from wanting me to go, I want to line up. But I really can't accept this interpretation.
Hello, how are you. I want to know, when I want to leave the hotel, I check out and find that I can't go to the executive floor. I can only check out at the front desk of the underground lobby. I want to know, when should I be able to check out on the executive floor? Thank you
When checking in, I have to convert 100 dollars to be coupon. It is a bit messy with the staff. I need to wait a long time in the counter to complete the formalities. When checking in, the staff forgot to provide three Jade members welcome gifts and then I went to the reception after the dinner to ask my colleagues to replenish me three options. In addition to the lack of confusion when checking in, the overall service is very satisfactory, but the hotel location More remote and shuttle bus is more sparsely recommended.
We stayed 4 days, total. Original reservation was for 3 days prior to the Spring Festival, but the staff were able to extend an additional day to encompass the Lunar New Year. Extremely pleasant staff, very helpful and courteous - from the second we walked into the lobby for check-in until we boarded our outbound ride after checkout. Top notch service in every way!
We ate a number of times at the Wok Too Cafe for breakfast and dinner. The food selection was varied, including western dishes as well as Asian cuisine. The food was well prepared and never a shortage of offerings from which to choose. The food was quite tasty and we found ourselves "stuffed" after almost every meal. Our highest compliments to Rod Szeto, Scott Henderson and the entire staff for making our dinning experiences first rate.
The room was spacious (42sq. m) and laid out in a pleasant and logical manner. The king sized bed was VERY comfortable, as would be expected at a hotel of this caliber, and provided a very good night sleep. The bathroom (washroom) was well stocked and had a soaking tub separate from the shower - several relaxing episodes were had here. Everything worked as it should, and there were plenty of extras/amenities in case they were needed. Marble, marble and more marble - very elegant. We got the Riverview room - a great view of the Pearl River from our floor.
The hotel common areas were IMMACULATE! Very clean and well decorated. Marble everywhere! To quote a friend of mine to whom I showed a picture - "Gorgeous". There were always staff on hand if we needed anything, and they were very pleasant, well presented and eager to help. This is the kind of service that Shangri-la is known for!
As an aside, or perhaps part of the core experience, the ability of the staff to speak English was a very comforting and nice addition. To foreigners (such as myself), language barriers can be intimidating or frustrating, particularly after a long flight and when one is exhausted. Our compliments to the staff and management for making the extra effort to break down these barriers and help the guests start their stay off in a relaxing environment!
In short, a great experience and Shangri-la certainly lived up to our expectations (we have stayed in Shangri-la in Guilin and in Mactan, Cebu, Philippines). We will most certainly be back :)
Another fine "Shangri-la class" hotel stay! Facilities, setting, operating system, communication, above all, staff quality, especially at the receptions, makes your stay enjoyable with a warm human touch!

Regarding the reception at the train station, if you can have a counter at the Shangri-La Hotel at the East Exit of the East Railway Station, and there is a waiter on duty, so that guests can take the shuttle bus to the hotel, avoiding the guests waiting for a long time at the taxi station. Or miss the shuttle bus time.

Wonderful view. Excellent for Canton fair times, no traffic, just walk if you go to hall 9 to 11. Shuttle available anyway. Excellent BBQ with singers at outside garden. Excellent buffet for dinner.
At Spa, I took a shower previous to a massage service, however the water was cold. Something wrong to get hot water in that room. It was not good. I received 15 minutes extra time massage as compensation of the lady.
In breakfast, the chefs in charge of omelettes section should be advised to prepare omelettes without too much cooking oil. He prepared my omelette with a lot of oil. Push 3 times the oil bottle on frypan. That's not healthy for some people that takes care of this point. Sometimes they don't understand English to be advised.
At check out, I called to request a bell boy, however delayed too much. I decided to carry by myself.
Details in this 3 issues, but finally my experience was very good, not excellent.
Had an excellent stay together with my guests in your hotel. The staff at the Horizon Lounge were so attentive and caring that we have decided to make this our official hotel for GZ despite the location being not so convenient. Special thanks to Wing Tang & Ingrid Liu for leading their team so well, every quarter empty glass was filled and hot drinks were replenish after every 45 minutes. Ms Amy Chao is a wonderful staff to help me do the check in, describe very clear about the hotel and GuangZhou travel hot spot.
I strongly recommend to look for Amy's assistant if you first time come to GuangZhou, she will give valuable suggestion to your stay.

The reason why I did rating 4 instead of 5 is just the hotel facilities look old but the service is great.
Service was very good. The room was average and not better than a room in a hotel that would be half the price or less. Other hotels give much better value for money.
The large lawn is perfect for children to take pictures, and the hotel also has activities from time to time. When you have an event, you can play at the hotel. If you don't live in the hotel, you can buy tickets to play.
The location is far from the city center, but unfortunately!
The front desk business is not very skilled, and it is not clear about the multiple points activities of Shangri-La and China Eastern Airlines. The next day when I was going to use the cash withdrawal service, the guide also insisted that only the membership of the jade can enjoy the right, but the front desk staff is still very skilled.
The price of a pot of orange juice is not indicated in the menu of the Summer Palace, only a single cup price, which leads to our budget exceeding the standard.
I used the price of Luxury Circle. I was granted the right to delay the check-out. However, I was reminded to check out at 12 o'clock on the same day. After I made the request, I agreed to delay until 2 o'clock. The medical examination was not good.
The stairs in the room were unclear, and the entrance was discovered after a large circle.

There is no paper in the room, and it is a bit of a hassle to find paper towels. The check-in of the APP cannot be paid by UnionPay card, which is not very convenient.
