The hotel is comfortable and in good location. Service is in general good. Need to improve in communication with your Sands hotel on the billing arrangement

Its strategically placed right in the center of penang. The service is great and the people who served you also do it the proper way and always with a smile.Even if the building itself is a little bit dated but the emphasis on service and human factor gives it an edge. I will definetely stay here again, as it is it has become a home away from hone whenever Im in Penang.

Service staff were friendly and helpful.
Hotel room was spacious and clean.
Swimming pool was decent for the kids to play in

Was promised late checkout (24hrs upon check in time) but wasn't been honoured.

No bathtub in room as promised before my arrival.

Poor food quality. Poor cups and plate condition for baby.

In room electric kettle was dirty. Spoon was also dirty.

Has some kind of weird smell in the cafe jen. (old building issue?)

Overall all the staff excellent, especially Miss Hidayah from room reservation department very good experience to handle customer request and requirement from time to time with very patient.

Really enjoyed our visit. Hotel is a little old but everything is kept in good condition

Had the worst wedding dinner food here in my entire life. Food was bland, prawns were not fresh and presentation was a distant third thought. Service was hit and miss. Definitely would recommend anyone hosting their wedding dinner here to think thrice. Unfortunately I did not take photos of the unappetising food due to a lack of appetite. What a disappointing drop in standards from a Shangrila brand.

A solid 4 star business/city hotel. Rooms are newly refurbished but renovations still ongoing at lobby/restaurant.

The room is clean and equipment are pretty good. Temperature control is responsive, bed is comfy and 3-4 wall sockets available to charge your devices. Komtar and a few malls located within walking distance. Easy to get food. Cozy and comfy lobby. I'm here during the Christmas season, beautiful decorations and nice songs playing in the background.

My friend and I have a great time during our stay. We also impressed with Katherine's service during our check in process. Although then there is a delay in the check in and we are told to come back later. But after 2 hrs, our room is still not ready! And another male staff, I hope that I get his name correctly, Max (a fair young man wearing specs), he tried his ultimate best to get our room ready at the shortest time, knowing that we are tired. We too are impressed with his service. Please help us to convey our appreciation to them and keep up the good work!

Centralised location in George town penang. Walking distance between the shopping malls, street art, street food. Spacious room. More service counter would be good. Long queue for check in and out. Mobile check in service counter was empty but the staff was not helping with the normal check in and out even when there is a queue.

I was a frequent visitor before so it was good to go back and see some familiar faces. Everything was good and despite the challenges, staff were positive and efficient as before. One little thing, my room 1714 had a louder than usual acond noise even at low speed. I am a light sleeper and that somewhat caused some sleep difficulty.

Excellent location and wonderful stay in Hotel Jen. you can even listen to the TV while in the toilet!
Will definitely choose Hotel Jen in future.

Awesome stay. Variety of Malaysian and western breakfast items served. Staffs @ front desk was friendly and helpful. It's located a few walk away to Perangin and 1st Avenue mall. There are also nearby hawker shops just about 5 mins walk.

Had an enjoyable stay in Hotel Jen Penang! Spacious Deluxe room, comfortable bed, adequate facilities & amenities provided in room. Would definitely my first choice of hotel if I happened to come back in Penang again.

The hotel was formally known as Traders, took over by the Shangrila group. Hotel room is pretty comfortable, with a standing bath. Staff are friendly and the breakfast is nothing to shout about.

Good ambience, decent food for its price. Location is close to a few shopping malls

The bathroom is too small, might be a problem for those afraid of small places. Other than that everything is great

We didn't get our connecting rooms as requested while check-in at around 2:30 PM and was asked to wait because the rooms were not ready so we just left our luggage at the concierge and came back to get the room at night. Chocolate and fruits were sent to our rooms as complimentary.

All amenities are complete. The bed and blanket were very comfortable.

We had a nice 3 nights stay there.

Excellent location - I could get around Penang either by foot or Grab within 15-20 minutes.

Neat, clean and comfortable room - We had 5 nights of good rest, and felt comfortable.

Attention to details - We love how the housekeeping staff paid attention to the tiniest of details. Right down to providing me with a comb that I had forgotten to bring along on my trip.

This time i am travel with car to this property and satisfied with the staff service. Parking attendant assist me to park at temp parking area as the parking lot is full (some event that day). The staff attentive and most important smile! :) front desk staff have improved a lot. I just have a small issue with mobile apps which not allow me to choose time to check out. but eventually front desk persuade me to try again fortunately it work after few try.

The bathroom basin was wet due to 'leakage' of the tap and pipe below. The areas on the surface and below the basin will soon be 'flooded' when the tap was turned on. Such issue could have been avoided if regular check and maintenance has been done. It should not be handled only upon reporting by the next guest who checks in.

I was denied from access to my floor although I'd requested for late check-out. The staff should have do the adjustment or inform me to go to front desk to get it reset. It's the hassle I encountered , just a minor one but am sure this can & need to be improved.

Overall are very good. The minus are the pool side. Not so very cozy n special. The area are near to every where.

Came for Wedding dinner was served entirely in 2.5 hours, which is totally unnecessary, it was probably the longest we have to wait for food. The time gap between each course made us feel tired and uncomfortable eating , and will get bloated. Anyways, hotel is not bad, interior is nice, staff r friendly. Food was not bad too.

Great Jen employees that I look forward to seeing on every visit. It's important for me to see familiar employees that recognize and greet you when you walk in the hotel. Makes you feel special.

Hotel Jen Penang is a fine example of being customer-first!

Check-in was smooth and staff at the reception were very friendly. They always have a smile on their faces. Special shoutout to Shalini who facilitated our check-in. She was very friendly.

I also want to commend the nice touch from the hotel in giving me Mars chocolate because of "inconvenience I may have experienced" during check in. Honestly I was surprised by the chocolates because I didn't feel too inconvenienced. It was just a very minor miscommunication. Great move there!

I also like the strategic location of the hotel. I'll definitely come back to this hotel for my next Penang trip.

Nice hotel in the center of the city. The rooms were very nice. It is just walking distance to a lot of eating places.

This hotel has been completely renovated. I like the new lift lobby especially.

The whole hotel now projects a vibrant feel, unlike before.

New room furniture's have replaced the previously aged ones with new concept and colour themes.

The concept suits the World Heritage Site status of George Town as a whole.

Hotel staffs were as friendly and courteous as before.

Comfortable stay. Friendly and helpful staff. Nice food at the cafe. Very near to shopping malls such as Komtar, Praglin mall, 1st Avenue, GAMA. Bus terminal nearby provide convenient travelling to other places. Many other cafes around the neighborhood.

Triple Room or Family Room with real bed instead of soda bed be introduced.

Also should consider changing the container for bathroom shower gel, shampoo, conditioner and body lotion for easier retrieving.

I upgraded to the club floor and I was glad that I did. The folks that work up there are great. The food was just average. It could be improved.

Great Hotel for quick getaways or long stays... food and shopping are all within 15mins walk

Overall experience is great!
It took quite long to check in (15min). Room is clean, gym, pool and steam room are good. Lounge is wonderful. Breakfast is great. : )

I like the lobby, the size and the cleanliness of the room. Hotel facilities good, especially we spent wonderful time in Golden Sands Resort Penang. Overall, it was a good tour.

The staff that checked us in is efficient, friendly and professional. Location of hotel is good too. Bed is very comfortable. However, we found our mug not cleaned properly, with very obvious coffee stains. The table above the fridge storage was not very clean too, with coffee stains as well. The dustbin in the bathroom should not be placed elevated besides the toilet seat, which made it a bit unpleasant visually, and it s right besides the hand towel and toilet paper. You can easily touch the dustbin when you pull the papers and use the hand towel. And the dustbin has a bit of stains too. We brought it down and placed it on the floor on our other side, away from the hand towel. Other than the front desks, not much greetings from the other staff. Tried to smile at them but they put on a straight face. And I don t know why, whenever we reach our floor, I smell very strong hair cream smell throughout our 3 days (reminded me so much of Brylcreem!). Not sure if this is supposed to be the hotel fragrance, but I feel they should change it if it is.

It is a pleasure staying at Hotel Jen because the staff are friendly and helpful, from front desk to concierge to housekeeping. I like the rooms too, which is nice, cosy and clean. Also the 'extra' service of providing a free ride by bus to the Shangri-la affiliated hotels at Batu Ferringhi is most welcomed; the ride was smooth too, obviously driven by one careful drive! Finally the location of the hotel is ideal and is very convenient when it comes to shopping, food and even travelling around the island. Thank you for the experience!

It is really a pleasant trip to stay at Hotel Jen. The staff that are customer orientated. My son was surprised with the birthday cake as a gift from them. Thank you so much. We definitely will come back to stay if we are back at Penang.

Very friendly and helpful staff. Was here for church camp and the meal spread was impressive. Accidentally left my passports in the room and the staff passed them to the church camp committee. Excellent service.

Both buffet breakfast and lunch selection need to improve and the tasty of the foods is less than desire overall is bad.

Room 1325 the shower water pressure is very sub standard

Really slow and unprofessional check in run by very 2 young and clearly untrained ladies. Can not blame them, clearly management s should try to train their staff and perhaps employ more people, as clearly hotel is quite busy.

This is Shanri-La then rebadged to Traders hotel and further to Hotel Jen. Sits at city centre with good public transport and shopping mall around just walking distance only.

We had the family room and was spacious enough. Bed and pillows were comfortable. Will be good if hotel could extend 1 hr late check out as we were too early to leave for airport.

Shopping mall was next door but we had enough of shopping though and it would be good if we could stay in the room till 1pm.

Star Rating: Room - 4 star Service - 3 star (check in waiting time too long) Location - 3 star (surronding shopping mall v run down, but good old shophouses can be explored)

Renovation will only complete in september 2017 but stay is very comfortable

good location, great staff. helpful friendly. rooms are clean and comfortable. Small drawback is that we had noisy neighbours - kids screeching and pple talking. Often, when the neighbours are using the shower, we can hear the water pump/pipes starting out.

Shuttle service to Shangrila Golden Sands gives best of both city and beach holiday

Had a short stay at Hotel Jen over the weekend with my family. Hotel facilities, location and service rendered to us was excellent.

The breakfast spread was good and the kids loved the apartment so much that they are willing to stay here the next time we come to Penang again.

An excellent stay, the food and service was great, I really enjoyed my time at the hotel.

Staffs at Hotel Jen Penang are friendly and helpful, we enjoyed staying in this hotel. Comments we have : 1)The pillows in the bed room are too soft, we used two piliows but felt uncomfortable. 2) The night lights beside the bed (both right and left side) are too bright, it will be good if the brightness of both lights can be adjusted or change to a dimmed lights so that people can sleep nicely in the night time.

Location is very good. Close to many scenic spots, shopping malls & restaurants. Also, hotel design is morden & new. It also user friendly to wheelchair guests, with its disabled toilet design is well appreciated.

Hotel accommodation is top notch. We had the suite and we couldn't have been more pleased. Breakfast menu has soo much variety. We loved how big and clean the gym was, over looking the pool. Overall, an amazing stay and would definitely recommend for everyone.

Excellent service and with a smile hotel jen reienivated to high standard especially the lobby and lobby lounge like it alot also has lots of tasty snacks just tried chefs special snack of deep fried spicey prawns they was truly scrumptious! ! ! ! !

Hotel was great and is in close proximity to key foodie areas and Penang attractions.

Rooms were well cleaned and pleasant, however don't expect too much of a view.

Lobby bar serves beer late, and is especially useful on Friday nights when you've got nowhere else to go!

Beautiful sunset seen from Jen hotel lobby. This hotel is next to 2 shopping complex. Great for tourists as its in the heart of Georgetown, Penang.

Only improvement is that the car park has no lift. We weren't aware of it until we parked our car and we had to do some weight lifting to haul our luggage up. Other than that we had a very pleasant stay and my kids love it a lot.

The club room is nicely decorated and well designed. I was particularly impressed with the housekeeping guy (I forgot his name but my room no. is 1620) who was very meticulous and made our room very comfortable. He even folded our clothes and arranged the comestics neatly. The food at the club lounge is tasty and the breakfast is excellent with good spread. All the staff were very courteous and helpful, particularly Catherine, Front Office. Excellent stay overall.

The receptionist didn t reconize the Loyaty member to stay in the hotel.

Great location in Georgetown. Near Komtar centre where central bus station. Surrounded by many shopping malls like 1st Avenue. Walking distance to many street markets and hawker stalls.

very poor room, 1133. i am a repeat customer, from trader days, and yet, i got a very very poor room. noisy, no lounge chair, facing the dome.

Great location with many shopping and makan around the hotel. Will book again in future.

The stay was extremely pleseant in all aspects. A few suggestions :

1) Shaving set shall be included in bathroom kit
2) Vegetarian food shall be arranged separately in the buffet breakfast hall.

Had a great stay however upon my arrival there was a long queue to check in. The mobile check in was not available and only 1 person was working at that time which held up the line as there was an issue with the person checking in at that time. Strongly recommend Hotel Jen to go digital and allow customers to have a more seamless experience.via web check-in, deposits can be made via credit/debit-card and reimbursements can be made via e-wallets today.

I don't think think that's too tough to collaborate with brands/banks like BIGPAY or Maybank.

The centralized booking somehow was a bit tedious from customer end. I was rerouted to several people before i get to speak to the right person. And everytime i called to follow up, I went through another circle of rerouting. However William & Wan from the club lounge was very very helpful. They were initiative, supportive and showed great hospitality during our short stay.

one room has only 1 card, its inconvenient when someone want to go outside and the other want to sleep

The room and service was very good.
The only thing is, we went Golden sands resort by your shuttle bus, but we were not able to use the changing room in there.
We wanted to use shower after play at the sea and pool...
