See Shakespeare's plays performed as they were originally staged! This theater is a fantastic reconstruction of The Globe, which was the theater most used by Shakespeare. There are usually two shows a day and I had no trouble getting seated tickets last minute.
There is also a tour that you can take, which I recommend, as it gives a lot of history and context.

My first visit. Saw a production in the Sam Wanamaker Playhouse. The seating, like all venues, needs to be chosen carefully - I was in the rafters, centre spot and it was a brilliant spot. Seating is benches and so it can be cosy.

The guides are very good, you can understand very well what they say even if you are not very expert in English, I went there twice and it has always been very interesting. The second time we also saw a piece of the hamlet's evidence.

God bless Sam Wannamaker for campaigning so hard to get this wonderful addition to London's theatres. Well worth the tour outside of the productions and if you do go and see a play, then make sure you get the right sort of ticket - older folks might not like the bare boards approach to some seats. "Groundling" standing tickets are good value, but you are exposed to the elements and standing for two hours may not be everyone's cup of tea. Anyway, thank you Mr Wannamaker.

Built in 1599 on the right bank of the Thames and at the end of the 20th century. 230 m from the original location reconstructed Elizabethan theater in the form of a circular or polygonal wooden and half-timbered building with thatched spectator stands and William Shakespeare as a poet. Very worthwhile piece of British cultural history!

I love the Globe Theatre, and up until today i had nothing but praise for a theatre that staged quality productions in an excellent setting. However their current production of Henry IV pt2 was really very poor. I found the 'gender bending' of roles confusing, unecessary, with female actors not bringing anything new to the roles, except to ape cliched and stereorypical male tropes. Poor definition of characters by the ensemble actors left me fumbling for the programme to determine which 'faction they were representing at that moment, (and i know the play fairly well). Actors failed to deliver lines with any sense of understanding, leaving me to read to subtitles to understand the lines. Costuming was confused, and blocking of moves clumsy, with the last straws for me being the 'bloke in a dress' ( no effort even with a wig) playing Lady Northumberland, Jonathon Broadbent's impression of 'mammy' Agnes Brown, and the one that broke the camel's back; the hackneyed stereotypical 'gay' Francis Feeble. This is what i would expect from a 'student' production NOT the Globe Theatre. I left at the interval, something i have not done in 40+ years of theatre going.

Theatre in the round is such a different experience, and if you ever have the chance to come here I highly recommend it. I've been here several times and always had a seat, so if you do plan to sit you may want to consider renting a cushion because the benches are not the most comfortable. However, if you choose to stand you can, and I reckon this is the best view in the house.

Beneath the replication of the original Globe theaters, the museum offers an insightful look into not just William Shakespeare and his playwright ventures but also London as it was in his time.

Charming. Already after visiting the shop you regret not having a piece of luggage to put in the hold. Before I die I have to come and see a show here: DVDs are already a masterpiece, let alone live ...

A wonderful experience to see and hear Shakespeare 's plays acted in an authentic Elizabethan setting. The theatre and the surrounding buildings are worth a visit if you enjoy the theatre, Shakespeare, history, or just architecture. The atmosphere is great. A highlight you can only see in London.

It is a place worth visiting because it is a faithful reproduction of the theater in which Shakespeare performed some works. According to records, it is about 200m from the original enclosure.
