This resort gets 4 stars if you're looking for a really nice low key place that you can eat and drink all day with the freedom from children. The loss of 1 star was due to the smell and seaweed laden beach conditions which really saddened me. If you're looking for a child free environment that has round the clock activities and partying you will consider this a 2 star review. The resort is very small and you can be anywhere on it within 3 minutes. The staff was amazing as probably most resort staff in Mexico are. The food and food service was good as well but to go to the best restaurants you need long pants, sleeves, and closed toed shoes. I feel a Mexico vacation should require nine of the above especially for an adults only resort.

The Silversands hotel, is a great hotel to holiday in. We spent one week here. The rooms are comfortable and spacious. Our room was on the ground floor and had direct access to one of the many swimming pools.
The choice of restaurants is very good and the menus change daily. Our favourite was Oceana and the Asian restaurant.
I would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a week in the sun.
We spent our honeymoon there and the experience was excellent. No complaints at all. The live entertainment every night was a nice surprise. Great shows.
Overall a nice AM Resorts property - the food in all of the restaurants is well above average as far as resort food goes - service is top notch. The rooms are nicely appointed with some aspects being a little outdated.
The bar service is very good with servers coming around to all of the outlying pools ever 30 minutes or so. Room service is fast and has a good selection.
Evening entertainment is average at best - the live music by the veranda bar is always great. The staff everywhere is friendly and outgoing - they work extremely hard.
We shared our room with ants...they fumigated but they just kept coming back. It's a nice property but check out Secrets Vallarta Bay if you want a luxurious experience!
Our room was very clean. A small issue with the ac unit dripping water in the floor but no big deal. Nice tile floors we just put a towel down. Never did room service but it is an option. The staff is very friendly.
So wife and I booked the Preferred Master Suite. It started with arriving and getting a cold towel and glass of champagne and escorted to the preferred lounge for check in (very much like all Secret resorts). Check in was fast and easy and off to our room. There was no pushing of time shares this time. The room was very large, living room, bedroom, 2 full baths and a very large balcony with jacuzzi bath, Both inside and outside. The lighting was sufficient. Only had 2 issues to start with the room, the espresso maker wasn t working and the outside jacuzzi wats sn t working. 1 phone call, 30 minutes and both were working and ready to go. Room was cleaned everyday without issue, mini fridge restocked each morning, soda, beer and water. We left a used gift card in the slot by the door for electricity when we were out. Pools, there are 9 of them, but I would say more like 2 that most people use. One heated and one not. In December the non heated one is cold!! The heated one is very comfortable, by the way the heated one has the swim up bar and all the pool activities. Go down early to save spots as they allow it here. Alex, the pool guy would have 2 chairs set up for us every morning before I even came down. He was very good. Of course a minimal $5 tip helped as we noticed most people weren t tipping for anything. Breakfasts, lunches, dinners , beverage service, cleaning crew or pool side assistance. These employees work very hard to assure you re having a great time, let them know you are. They work ridiculous hours and I m sure aren t paid like we would expect to be paid in the US. TIP THEM!! Rafts move freely though out the pool. Grab one from the side as there s no holding these. We had Leonardo pretty much all week and he was great. Always smiling. Restaurants: we are at the breakfast one, portifino, Boudreaux, hibachi and el patio. The same ones at all secrets resorts, but the menus differ and the food quality differs from resort to resort. Food was better here, we felt, then at other Secret resorts. If we had to rank them we would say Bordeaux, el patio, portifino and hibachi. I don t like French food but found the food here to be the best in quality. Very good filet and the creme bruele was good and a fun little show. Beach. It is rocky but calm. You can wade out pretty far if you chose. Seaweed wasn t as bad as in the past few years. They are cleaning it in the mornings. Preferred amenities. There is the preferred lounge and a spot on the beach. That s about it. No preferred resteraunt like other Secrets resorts but we made do. Drinks. We read some people felt the drinks were watered down, but we did not experience that at all. They were well poured and did what they were supposed to do, make you forget about everything at home lol. Very strong at certain bars, like the one back by the gazeebo. Overall I would give this resort a 4 star rating. Service was excellent. Food was good. Entertainment team was fun. Shows were typical. Drinks were excellent
Now if lousy, bad room, excessive noise, bad cleaning service, the sargasso made it impossible to enter the sea, the pools look very dirty therefore, if they left much to be desired, and be very careful to book through the hotel, just they are interested economically bleeding. They believe that we all win in dollars.
The waiters, bellboys and lovely ladies waiting on the pools outside were GREAT.For a 4 diamond hotel,we were overall disappointed. The reception area couches were filthy and smelled awful. We were taken to the "preferred club"(joke)and were at least in a more private area to check in.Our traveling companions had an emergency at home and had to leave after a day.NO ONE in the hotel "preferred club"or main hotel did anything to assist them in finding emergency transportation home except pointing them to a hotel laptop that was yahoo.mx(in Spanish).Luckily, the Vacation Express/Nexus representative jumped in to help and we got them home.Once in our room,it was clean, cool, and well maintained.Even though you have a thermostat in your room, the temperature is clearly warmer by morning.Mini fridge was filled daily and we were able to call room service and request specifics. You could use a kayak free, but it isn't a kayak appropriate for the ocean.Small catamarans are available for free too.Snorkeling was "available" and upon asking they would tell you the additional fees. There were lots of unclear answers to simple questions. We were offered the"opportunity"to go visit one of the other Secrets properties for a 1.5 hour tour, but then you can stay the rest of the day AND receive free transportation back. They will want to keep your drivers license to do this and hold it hostage until you complete the 5.5 hr tour.NOT on my vacation in another country.Hell no.BEWARE folks. The grounds were well maintained, however the beach has serious erosion issues. To us,this meant no strolling the beach in the morning or evening. The water is NOT blue or blue green as pictured in EVERY advertisement for this place. It is dark with the healthy aquatic environment and seaweed. If you plan to snorkel on your own, you will have to swim out pretty far, but not too far as the buoys are the limit due to the boating channel.
We had a fabulous time here! Room was nice and always clean, people were great here. Service was awesome for the most part! Great pools, hot tubs and ocean views ! Our favorite server was Tania she was always there when we needed anything while sitting at the pool! Anna Banana ( from entrtainment ) was awesome and so nice to us, always remembered our names and talked to us ! We met some very nice people from all over the US and Canada! Would recommend to anyone! Beautiful place!
4 stars. Good food. Great giant rooms. It's very humid in November. I prefer Excellence Playa Mujeres. Although this is a newer property and a pretty exact copy of that place.
First time the hotel was so beautiful and the pool was big .the restaurants was great so many different kind of food to pick from everyone one was so nice .lots to drink and eat...
I will never go to this resort! My husband and I were very excited to go there for the first time this April. But shortly after we booked we found out we were pregnant. My doctor said traveling to Mexico is definitely not advised due to the Zika virus and what that can do to an unborn child. We gave the resort 2 doctor notes as requested by them and they still refused to give us any kind of refund. I didn't think they would actually care about making some money from one couple more than an unborn child's life. I am completely floored at their decision and I will tell everyone about our horrible experience with them. United airline had no problem giving us a refund the same day we called, but this resort waited over a week to give us an answer and coincidently a couple days before we were suppose to be there. We are out of a lot of money and obviously not going because I am not going to risk my child's life. Not recommended.
On the whole a very good stay. Staff are very nice people, food good too.
They loose a star on this review mainly because our all inclusive holiday turned out to be 'non inclusive" for the new years eve party as we wouldn't pay the $500 asked to be part of the party.
Rooms need updating as they are a bit tired.
Happy with our holiday aside from feeling like a cash cow at times.
Ps. Get to know Alex around the pool, your stay will be more comfortable
My wife and I stayed at Silversands for our honeymoon and it was an amazing experience. Everything is included, including food at multiple excellent restaurants and drinks at all of their many bars. The spa was also very good and we got a fantastic discount by attending a time-share-esque presentation that included breakfast and a tour of their flagship sister resort. Got discounts and coupons despite not signing on for anything. The staff is all extremely friendly and polite, and the rooms are also very nice. Couldn't have asked for a better honeymoon.
Not sure where to begin. Definitely not a 4.5 star hotel. A solid 3 at best. Food is terrible. Pools are not heated. The service is good. Liquor is completely watered down. No activities to pump up the crowd. Room was mediocre. It seemed like it hadn t been updated in a long time. The paint was chipped. The elevator had broken buttons. TV was not clear and nothing was in English. I have stayed at a different secrets resort before and must say I don t see how this one is secrets. I don t recommend anyone to come to this resort. Oh almost forgot. They force with so much pressure to attend a timeshare presentation which is not required. The only nice hibachi restaurant was not open every day. On the day it was open the guests were required to go to the restaurant at 3:30 to make the reservation for same day. I survived off of the hamburgers the entire week bc the rest of the food was not edible. We are still trying to figure out how they have 4.5 star. When we booked this through Expedia, it mentioned $200 resort credit per person. We received the credits in coupons and they coupons couldn t not be used for most of the services. They were only allowed to be used on services worth $200 and up and could only use up to $40 coupon for the service.
Nice relaxing vacation! This place is nice...not great but nice. I had previously visited Secrets Maroma which I think is a little more upscale. The rooms at Silversand are huge but I agree with other reviews that they need a makeover. The food was good. The restaurant have a dress code for dinner. The men have to wear a shirt and pants. The women wore dresses or slacks as well. Unlike other all inclusive resorts, this one didnt have an evening buffet option to avoid having to dress up. They did have a Mexican themed dinner outside which was nice as well. The people were indeed the best thing about the resort. They go out of their way to help you...always with a smile. This is the reason I gave the 4 stars and not the 3.5 like I wanted to. The beach has a lot of seaweed in spite of their efforts to clean it up. If you are looking to hang out on the beach you may want to pick another place. Oh, and unlike Maroma they didnt pester me to buy a time share!
Subpar experience. I would rate this a 3 star resort. There is NO beach. The water was rocky & dirty. We only spent time in the pool. We could've done that in the US! The a/c was broken the whole time. This was a very disappointing trip.
Great service - we have an oceanview swim up jr suite, and the pool in front of our room is great! 6 or 7 restaurants on location and all good so far. The facility itself is nicer, and they keep it very clean, but you can tell some maintenance/face lift is needed. Can't beat the staff though - they have all been so kind and helpful!
This place is very luxurious and accommodation. The staff is in credibly polite, efficient and generous. I wound definitely recommend, due to the quality of customer service
Just returned from a girls trip and OMG we had a fabulous time!! We loved Charlie, Myra, and Dylan, as well as the 2 bartenders at the swim up bar they were exceptional!!! I ve stayed at all inclusive before, but this one was one of the best! The only thing I d avoid is the Japanese restaurant it was not good! The French restaurant was absolutely amazing!!! We will def be going back! Great service!!
We spent 10 nights here and loved every minute. The staff were so friendly and a amazing. The hotel grounds, amenities and services were all fantastic. We were blown away by the restaurants and quality of food as well. We will definitely be back to enjoy another wonderful holiday!
Loved the resort, plenty of bars and dinner restaurants. The atmosphere was great and the staff were very friendly. We felt like we were treated great even though we didn't upgrade to VIP or anything. The only complaint we had was that there weren't enough options of places to eat for lunch. Would recommend.
Very disappointed with the service given throughout apart from Restaurant staff. The Hotel needs to focus on what it should be offering guests. Checked into a Junior Suite AC not working complained for a week before Hotel acknowledged it was broken. Once or maybe twice the room was serviced correctly otherwise had constantly phone looking for missing basic items ie towels etc. For such a lovely resort the service let it down badly. Unfortunately would never return.
First time the hotel was so beautiful and the pool was big .the restaurants was great so many different kind of food to pick from everyone one was so nice .lots to drink and eat...
Pretty good for all inclusive. Pool side and beach side service are excellent. Not the quietest of places, but due to entertainment which is pretty enjoyable. Various styles of music bands, or dance played at the swim up bar.
This is a beautiful place. Good food and friendly staff. However, even though this stay is costing hundreds a day and it s all inclusive....you need to go and stand in line to get a reservation for the Japanese restaurant. We waited in line for almost 30 minutes to find out we couldn t get in till almost 10 pm. You can t make a reservation for another day you have to go stand in line again. Even as a preferred VIP the concierge can t help. We have been to several all inclusive, Sandals and another Secrets. Wait in line each day to try and get in for hundreds of dollars a day? This is crazy.
The location is great, though the beach is a little underwhelming here. The service is fantastic and we haven't had a bad meal yet. Our room is above the live bands so it's hard to sleep before 11pm but the view is great and the room is spectacular.
Secrets SilverSands is a really nice place to catch up on some R&R. We found their in and out processing to be very simple, and they were always available to help. The evening shows are very entertaining, and the Eco parks near by are spectacular.
The humidity smell on the rooms are horrible if you suffer from sinus ! Even tho I have my pills the extreme odor inside the rooms are too high, they try too fixed but I guess they are not prepared for ... they gave me a dehumidifier who works only a few hours and is dead so at the he middle of the night I was having short breathing very uncomfortable... beside that if you order a tequila and ask which brand they have you order and sent you whatever .... so what is the reason to ask what type of tequila they managed? ... of course if you complain they fixed but the point is as an adult resort treat me as an adult not playing like a children offer you candy and give apple...restaurants are good the facilities are ok and their Spa prices are too high ...$260 for a massage is just too high ...even with 30% off still high...my husband loves Cancun so we were around so many times and this is my first time complaint about it ....I didn t read the reviews on this particular facility because Secrets has a very good ones My particular experience is not the best ....
Loved the whole staff, service was excellent margarita at the spa was very professional David by the bar was awesome dining was great but hitsmu was the best we saved it for last
Loved this hotel, staff was awesome, amenities were great, service was top-notch. Loved all the little extras they have. Will definitely be coming back. Thank you to everyone, especially to the guys in the concierge. Thanks!
I liked the no reservation dining. Also the staff was incredible. The main pool area did fill fast everyday, but I prefer the beach. Which was ok. A little rocky in spots. The food was excellent. The rooms are large and the beds comfortable.
Very nice, smaller resort. Staff are friendly and drinks are mixed fairly well. Seems like they are short staffed in the restaurants. Everyone is working very hard, but seem to be spread a bit thin. Nice pools and adequate small beach area.
Came here for a week for a family member's wedding. The resort was amazing and they treat you like royalty! Very clean resort, staff is constantly tending to the landscape and cleaning up dishes, etc. They are very attentive to your needs. Between 24 hr room service and the restaurants, you will never go hungry (tons of food options). There are several pools to go to. The main pool is where all the fun is and swim up bar but there are several more private pools where you can nap or read. I stayed in a swim up room (all the swim up rooms are off of the more seclusive pools) and it was a great choice. They keep you entertained with activities if you like those. A family member was injured at the resort and they have an onsite doctor there 24/7 which is so helpful! Highly recommend this resort. The beach is so-so but the resort was perfect. The wedding was also beautiful.
The staff were phenomenal. Very attentive and very nice. It's a decent hotel but there is very very little beach. It shows it's age a little bit. We did find three cockroaches in our room during the course of our stay.
Not as great as I thought it would be. Lots of rain here last night, the ceiling in the lobby was leaking badly then eventually collapsed. Don't pay extra for the preferred club, it's not worth it, just means they try to sell you more stuff.
My husband and booked one of their over pool honeymoon cabanas for 4 nights. They have 3 cabanas. If you insist on staying here, which I would not recommend and book one. Make sure you don t get the 1st one. It is over the maintenance shed cabana and I can hear employees all night. It does not have a staircase into the pools like the others. It is a standard ground level pool ladder, however they installed it on the porch so the 1st step is chest high. Hopefully you have been practicing yoga and have exceptional upper body strength or you won t be enjoying that aspect. Should I mention the other pools like ok, this pool is peeling and gross with debris because why bother clean it for the people paying triple?
Housekeeping doesn t bother coming, even if you ask.
Employees steel valuables.
Food is disgusting and will make you sick enough to end up in the ER.
Incase it wasn t clear, I would not recommend nor would I ever return even if it was free and someone paid me to come back.
Resort facilities are nice, however beach itself is not what we expected for swimming. If you don't mind walking down about a mile you will find better swimming spots at other resorts.
Food, rooms, service and shows were great.
Not a lively as we would have liked... Some more music and dancing would have been nice.
OMG!!! I cannot say enough good things. If there's anything I would like, they're there and have it. Over friendly staff, phenominal food, and fantastic atmosphere
We visit this resort at least once a year. Clean, fun, great food, amazing staff, beautiful views, etc. We plan to continue to visit our favorite resort every year!!
My husband and I stayed at this resort July 2017. It was amazing the place is beautiful and the staff very gracious and accommodating, Luis from the buffet lounge was amazing, Claudia and Jazmin were also very nice. There was nothing wrong with this resort but the BEACH. The beach was not as nice,it was small and rocky, I was told that they are updating it. Hopefully when we visit again the BEACH will be nicer. I totally recommend this resort.
Excellent service and spectacular food, it's the second time we've been here and we'll probably be back again, for it. The second time we came, we were taken to the courtesy room with a bottle of sparkling wine and thanks. It is amazing the service and the human quality of its people. We will return without any doubt.
I had a wonderful time. I would like to thanks all of the staff who made it a great vacation. Especially these great people. Ana banana! Dylan! Marrianna! Jerica rivera!! Herberto!
5 star service all round. Staff make you feel special Food selection is amazing, No kids, so its peaceful. Plently of activities, Only down side is you can't swim in the sea. Too much Seaweed!
Service is fantastic. The staff is ever helpful. Maintenance of the room have room for improvement. Inconsistencies in room facilities. The sea in this area has a rocky bottom and is full of weeds which make it unswimable.
It is an extraordinary hotel in the Riviera Maya of Cancun, all inclusive and above all the hospitality of its great team of guests or guests catering in exceptional restaurants
we loved everything about it. The restaurants were great: awesome quality food, four-to-five-star service/quality, great atmosphere, excellent choices. The rooms were also excellent! Maids were great, turn down service offered, room service, clean, full of amenities, and the view was great. The beach was nice and had plenty of beach chairs, was clean and had a drink runner. The pools were never overcrowded, clean, functional and relaxing. I loved the secluded pools located around the premises as well as the main infinity pools.
All restaurants have dress code for men only. If you like to go on vacation with shorts and t shirts, then this place isn't for you. You have to bring your suit to get in. Even then it is not guaranteed that you can dine in. The staff will find a reason not to let you in. As an incentive the beach is dirty and very rocky. These are the secrets of Secrets Silversands!!! Spend your money somewhere else. There is so many better options.
