After my second visit all I am going to say is this place has went downhill. It needs TLC, maintenance and consistent service to remain a top rated hotel. Daily mini bar and turn down service showed up for only half of my trip. No bathrobes or slippers as a preferred guest. Curtains in the room could not be opened. You needed 2 people to open the sliding patio door.

Resort needs some paint and a cleanup crew to run things before they get into a state of disrepair. Went with a large and received very inconsistent service at the buffet - it seemed the larger the group, the less we had table service. Staff was friendly and drink service around the pool was great! The ladies were friendly and a pleasure to talk to. They work hard every day and deserve to be tipped! Job well done.

The pools are really quite cold in January. The beach was awful. Murky cold water with plenty of rocks.

We spent 10 days here late January and I will never return.

I am very late on this review. My husband and I stayed here for one week for our honeymoon in Dec 2015. It was nothing short of amazing! The place was immaculate. Our room was clean, beautiful, and was right beside the pool. The spa was fantasic. Food and drinks were great. All of the staff we encountered were so nice and helpful. Our only disappointment, which is out of the control of the resort, is that the beach is not very good for swimming. It is rather rocky and pretty vegetated. But luckily, there was always a pool nearby!

I think the pictures say enough. I would definitely do a ground floor swim up facing the ocean. You won't regret it. All the food was great. Mexican was a favorite but all a la cares were fantastic. Also did the preferred package... good for check in and VIP services but the bar and buffet weren't anything special that you couldn't get anywhere else. The breakfast buffet was to die for.... it's waffle station, crepe station, omlet station were all freshly made when you walked up, the fruit arrangement was superb... can't say enough good things. It's not like any buffet you'd see at a holiday inn or Hilton. All the waiters and waitresses were personable and friendly. Even though gratuities are included it's definitely customary to tip a couple bucks for food and a buck or 2 for drinks. If you leave money for maid service they will do special things for you. Called a couple times for restocking of the fridge and extra incense. Also had security at the ends of the beach 24 hrs a day. They noticed the door was open and called because they didn't see anyone and wanted to make sure everything was ok which I appreciated with all the recent activity. They also have kayaks and hobie catamarans. Taking those out without paying extra was fantastic. Also booked a few excursions off the resort through delta. Definitely book something with shuttles included. Taxi fares are pricey or at least negotiate a rate before you get in. Most people except dollars so no need to exchange. Bring singles and get them exchanged at the front desk of you find it necessary. Otherwise the atm charges like $15. Would definitely go back.

Very nice hotel resort. Staff is overly courteous and accommodating. The restaurants are good. The Mediterranean and French ones are in my opinion the better options. Beaches do have quite a bit of algae which was disappointing. Rooms are very nice. Would definitely recommend and return to.

A wonderful experience for our anniversary. Our room was spacious w/ pool right outside the patio. Restaurants were excellent, with one exception...Portofino, mediocre food and very poor service. Can t say enough about the staff..they were outstanding, with special kudos to Oceana and Bordeaux managers. We hope to go back in the future.

This resort was great, nice layout, plenty of pools to chose from. The food was top notch, nice variety for all appetites. The biggest reason I would return to this resort is the friendly staff, they went out of their way to serve you!!

This resort was incredible. The food and drinks were delicious. But the service and staff were beyond compare. Very special mentions to Monica, she served us drinks at our pool everyday. She was so kind and always smiling even tho she was working so hard in the heat. She quickly learned our names and favorite drinks and was so speedy to bring them to us. We love her! She made our poolside experience fantastic!!!

Another extra special mention to Freddy Sanchez and Salvador at the breakfast/lunch buffet. From the minute we arrived they were all smiles and extremely attentive. We requested to sit in their area every day because we could count on quality service and happy faces. We will miss them but will definitely return because of them. They work so hard!!

We just got back from another trip to Secrets Silversands. Once again, it was a wonderful visit. The entire staff is helpful and friendly, from sales to bellboys to hostesses to waiters to management. The maintenance man fixed our squealing toilet valve minutes after we called.
This is a great resort, a short bus or shuttle ride from the Cancun airport. The French restaurant, Bordeaux, remained our favorite, but got stiff competition from the Mediterranean restaurant, Ratatouille, and El Patio (Mexican). The bartenders at all of the bars were are hardworking and friendly. If you're not having a good time here, maybe it's you.

They need to get rid of the photographer's we had no pravicy they were taking pictures beside our room all day everyday of wedding and couples than people would do the same BC we had a nice view but they all made our vacation suck and my anniversary we paid top dollar for those rooms , I think the photographer's should pay me since they made my vacation suck so much and when we asked and complained up front nothing was ever done., no heated pools, the beach is only two feet deep a football field, food ok.

A superb hotel where the staff are friendly and are very keen to ensure your holiday is as perfect as possible. Nothing is too much trouble. Great entertainment, but peace and quiet around your 'quiet pool' if you prefer. Waitress service around the pool is top quality with an array of cocktails to try. Mini bar in your room is stocked more than once daily and is inclusive too! It is a long taxi ride to Cancun or Playa del Carmen though, but taxis are ready and waiting and will wait at no extra charge. I'd love to return, but the world is a big place....

Clean facilities throughout the resort; friendly and courteous staff; free app to call home with using in room wifi; hotel has in house tour agents to book excursions and transportation to local venues; there are shows, bands, games and all kinds of events planned each day and evening... you choose what you want to do (or not do!); 7 pools, 7 shops and 8 restaurants all ON SITE and each with it's own cuisine; you literally never have to go off the resort; 2 cons - 1) restaurants require long slacks (can't wear dress shorts) and 2)the store doesn't stock AA or AAA batteries . Overall.... I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this resort! Shout out to my wife for planning this trip for our 35 wedding anniversary and to Pat at All About Travel for recommending it

Rooms are cleaned multiple times each day, and I'm pretty sure they work 24 hours. Groundskeepers keep the place nice each day. Excellent service and friendly staff. Restaurants are full of good options and mostly fast service. Only Himitsu had huge difficulty with reservations and no luck getting in. 5 stars for the resort and how it operates. Beach was not very appealing with a lot of seaweed and rocks along the shoreline. Not many beach activities in the area and most trips are very expensive. Taxi rides would be $45US to Cancun. Excursions start at $90 per person and can be almost $300 pp. If you are just a couple on holidays, you may run out of things to do fast. Great environment for being with a large group of drinking buddies. If you want a quiet roo. To relax in or enjoy being in the middle of all the excitement, the resort can accommodate you. Even with loud live entertainment our room was far enough to not hear any of it late in the evening.

This place is fantastic! Always something going on. Relax at one of 7 pools, hit the beach for a walk or relax in the sand. Someone is always near by to refresh your drink or help in any way. At night choose from 6 different restaurants all with different specialties. Night time attire for dinner is dress slacks and closed toe shoes for men, For the ladies there isn't a dress code. Nightly entertainment at the main bar with lots of great bands. The complex is huge and very well maintained. The junior suite was very clean and spacious. 24 hour room service is available at no cost for all inclusive. The excursions are well planned and convenient. Highly recommend this place.

I recently did a tour of this property and absolutely loved it. There are 8 pools, 8 restaurants and 8 bars. Tip: if you request a room on the ground floor, most of them have a pool right outside. It's almost like a swim up, without paying extra!

The wife and I came here as an anniversary present...

The wife and I came here as an anniversary present to ourselves and to "check out this whole all-inclusive thing".

We enjoyed our stay, the pools and restaurants were great. The room service was timely and the variety of things to do kept us busy. The staff was extremely professional and courteous.

A couple things I might point out for anyone interested.

The "swim out suites" are definitely not swim out. It's essentially a ground floor suite with some chairs outside your room. The water is anywhere from 5-20ft from the actual room. (The sister resort Breathless has true swim out suites where you can enter the water from your outdoor patio) That was a bit disappointing to be honest as it costs more than a normal room.

We also noticed a sewage smell for the first two days we were here, between our room block 4 and the main building. It smelled strongly in our room and overnight. It was gone by the third day but it was unexpected to say the least. We didn't make a big deal about it and I was thankful it didn't persist longer during our 5 night stay.

The beach is definitely not anything special but it was enjoyable to walk along a bit with my wife. Lots of seaweed and the staff seemed to work constantly to keep it clear. Would not recommend you come here if you are only interested in the beachfront.

We had never stayed at an all inclusive before and tried out the "time share sales pitch" to find out more. The sales staff was polite and took us over to Breathless, to show it off and to proposition us to become "Unlimited Vacation Club Members" in exchange for a $100 credit for the resort. It was about 90 minutes and fun to see another resort. Breathless certainly seemed more upscale than Silversands. Overall I left feeling a bit annoyed but my wife and I did end up getting a nice 80 minute deep tissue massage together for a steal. They spa staff were wonderful and professional also.

To be honest, it was a wonderful and relaxing stay and I'm happy we were able to come and enjoy it.

Stay away!!! Let me assure you this hotel does not deserve more than 2 stars. Filthy rooms , poor entertainment, bad custumer service. The property is outdated and not maintained . My husband and I travel often and this has been by far our worst experience ever. This is our first time writing a bad review.

I haven't even been there yet, and I'm giving them a 1-star for bait and switch practices. I booked nine rooms for the first week of February. They have a promotion that says for every five rooms booked, you get the sixth free. I was told last August that our week was eligible for this promotion. Now they tell me that they have extended their black out period to the first week of February, and its no longer available. This is inexcusable!

Came here for a wedding, group of 30 of us. Over all a wonderful experience ! Staff was super friendly, views were amazing! 24hr room service was awesome! The restaurant food didn't disappoint and the variety was also pleasing! If you're a sushi lover as I am, go to the hibachi (reservations not needed for sushi) the sushi is made in front of you and served on a conveyor belt! AWESOME! Multiple bars so different experiences each night. Only complaints would be the halls had a weird Odor that never went away and the DJ in the disco area is not current on trending music. Rooms need updated and idk what kind of housekeeping they do but we requested new bedroom robes and they delivered .... But one of them had someone else's poop on it?? Obviously brought me someone else's dirty robe.. Safe to say robes weren't touched after that. STAY CLEAR of the jewelry shop on the first floor. Bought a overpriced ring a few days before we were set to leave. Wore it once and jewels fell out, went back the next day as we were told it would be fixed. The jewelry store didn't open ONCE after that. Tried to keep the ring and my money. Hotel management pretended like the owners of it mysteriously disappeared and never paid their rent so we were basically told SOL. Me and my fiance were not having it, ended up comping the room for the price of the ring. Besides the mishaps we really enjoyed ourselves here

I really enjoyed my stay here. Most staff was very personable, the food was good,There are, however, a few things to be aware of:
- A lot of seaweed can wash ashore; you may not have that amazingly beautiful stroll along the coast you have in your head.
- The water along the coast has a lot of hidden rocks. One area to the southwest end by the "preferred" beach is basically a 30x30 foot floor made of rocks. It hurts!
- Spa prices can be considered high, but may be flexible and they may offer discounts if you ask or bundle.
- Girlfriend had some waxing done and she got a pretty bad burn from it; took about a week to heal.
- The girl whom did my girlfriends nails did a terrible job. Plus, they were unable or unwilling to do any sort of nail designs; just one color per nail. Speaking of which, they had a very small selection of gel nail polish.
- There are "gotchas" or alternatives to many things, but they may not tell you. For example, we asked about SCUBA diving and were directed to AMSTAR to make the arrangements to SCUBA offsite. We later found out that the club house where pool towels are also books SCUBA trip at a reef right off the coast by the resort.
- You may get an offer to go offsite to visit another resort for a tour, followed by a heavy sales pitch, in exchange for some amount of "fake" money which is good toward almost anything there; we just used it toward our room. Whether or not you take them up on the offer is up to you, but a word of warning: It may take longer than they quote you. It killed our entire morning and I wouldn't have gone had they been more realistic.
- You will probably need to request they restock your minibar multiple times as they don't restock it in the morning. Even if you call and request it be refilled while you are away you may come back to your room at night to find it empty still.
- If you want a higher shelf liquor to be used in a drink you will need to request it.

That said, if it wasn't for the fact that I would like to visit other resorts I would stay here again.

The entire hotel is super clean and the staff is friendly. I love how they offer some better than average liquors compared to most hotels I've stayed at in Mexico. Also they use bottled water for everything which is great. The pools are nice and the food has been good. If you're from the US the food won't blow you away, but try a bunch of things and see what works for you. Location is very close to the airport which is nice. The beach isn't that great and at least during our stay the water and sand were littered with sea weed which isn't the hotels fault but still annoying. Overall I would definitely stay here again.

The Silversands hotel, is a great hotel to holiday in. We spent one week here. The rooms are comfortable and spacious. Our room was on the ground floor and had direct access to one of the many swimming pools.

The choice of restaurants is very good and the menus change daily. Our favourite was Oceana and the Asian restaurant.

I would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a week in the sun.

We loved everything about this resort, the rooms, the food, the service.. the only thing we want to mention is if you like to swim in the Ocean, this is not the place to go. Its a beautiful beach, but the spot this resort is located on is, VERY Rocky. You can't walk out and swim in the water. It was painful to try and maneuver around all the rocks. Unfortunate spot for this otherwise perfect resort. We didn't mind, because we don't swim a lot in the Ocean, we just like to lay on the beach and LOOK at the water.

Great resort! The employees are friendly and chatty, the food is DELICIOUS (best resort food I've had), and the place is beautiful. Our room was big and the beds were comfortable, the entertainment was always good quality, and the gym facility was fantastic! I want to go back already!

We and two other couples stayed at the Secrets Silversands from January 4th through January 8th. We absolutely LOVED it. The staff was wonderful. Especially Delmy, our pool waitress. She didn't miss a beat and kept our drinks coming all day long by the pool. Miguel was awesome also! Both he and Delmy remembered all of us by name everyday. (I don't know how they do it). Miguel kept us laughing throughout our stay. The rooms were cleaned and stocked everyday. The room service was awesome. The waiters and waitresses in all the restaurants were wonderful....a special thanks to Robin at the Sea Side Grill and also. The beach was beautiful thanks to the tireless guys that worked non-stop throughout the day removing the seaweed. The activities were fun. Our room was in building three and it was nice and quiet overlooking one of the pools. I would definitely recommend this resort and hope to return in the future.

Went to secrets silversands in April for our Honeymoon. We arrived to bubbly and cool towels and a warm welcome. When we got to our room it was spectacular - rose petals everywhere a bottle of fizz and an amazing view! All staff are so friendly and nothing is too much trouble.
