Overal a great experience for our honeymoon. We did the preferred club which I Recomend as an upgrade of 10-20 dollars a day. Our preferred club room had ocean view and was Cleaned very well twice a day. The preferred club has top shelf alcohol and accommodating personal Concierges as well as snacks.

The staff is very friendly, make sure to join in the planned activities. Kendor was
Our waiter for breakfast at the world cafe, he is awesome. He always put a smile on our faces to start our day our right, ask for Mexican candies.

I was however, disappointed by the amount of selling and deals . Everything was 25% off or two for one, this makes it a chore to make sure your getting the best price for a service you want. Our resort credits where basically just a selling gimmick and not really worth anything.

The only other thing I would suggest is minor cleaning and maintenance along with a few tech upgrades. I wish they would upgrade the in room TVs and make the user interface easier. Upgrading the sports bar/DJ dance club with some new big screens and ventilation will go a long way.

My wife and I went with another couple and really enjoyed ourselves. All the staff was friendly and courteous but the activity directors Charlie, Dylan and Santiago went out of their way to keep you entertained and smiling. The resort is showing its age but it was clean and well maintained. The food was good but not great and what you would expect on a higher end all inclusive. The service around the pool was exceptional and a special shout out to Daniel, a terrific Bartender with a great sense of humor. The is a nice property to visit and is priced right for a late May visit. I highly recommend this property for the older crowd who wants to slow down.

Impressive luxury hotel and super personalized treatment is a hotel for adults only and that is appreciated by the tranquility that was breathed in the environment.
For putting a but would put to the beach that is not very good.

The hotel and food are amazing. The beach is horrible and whatever you do do not by the preferred package. Its a waste of money there are no extra perks work the money. Also the advertise swim out rooms ( which we payed for) and there aren't any. We got a room in front of a pool.

This all inclusive resort has amazing staff, alway...

This all inclusive resort has amazing staff, always trying to please. There are multiple swimming pools, some very active and noisy, some are very quite and perfect for a relaxing swim. There are multiple restaurants, some very good (the French restaurant and the seafood restaurant) and some that are mediocre or less (Asian cuisine).

Staff: always trying to please.

Beach: that was our biggest disappointment. The beach itself is narrow and the water is unswimable. It has a rocky bottom covered with weeds. If you are looking for a swimable beach, look somewhere else.

Room service: this is a mixed bag. We had two rooms. One room was very well equipped: tooth paste, shower cap, slippers. The other one was missing all of these. There were days in which the wet towels were removed from the room by the maid but not replaced requiring us to contact the staff and ask them to deliver towels to the room.

Rooms: very big rooms, each with it's own Jacuzzi. Maintenance was again a mixed bag. Mostly the rooms were well maintained but there were also some sour points. For example the lights on the balcony were missing their covers, some lights in the outside corridor were missing their covers. There aren't enough lights in the room so forget reading in bed an old fashion book. The area you have to keep you suitcase on had no lights so we had to put ours on the table where there was overhead light. On the first night we had a rain storm and water was leaking from the outside corridor into the rooms and we had to use towels to stop the rooms from flooding.

Whomever designed the hotel forgot that smooth tiles and water don't mix well and they become very slippery so make sure you wear slip resistant shoes if it rains or you risk breaking your neck.

Entertainment: again a mixed bag. Some was pretty good (Mexican music and dance, circus night) and some was awful (couples competition).

Overall, did we enjoy our stay? Yes, mostly. Will we come back? Probably not. Next time we'll do our research better. A swimable beach is a must for us.

I look for every reason and way to give the resorts we visit a 5 star rating, so I am going to give our personal fair assessment, comparing to other resorts we have visited in the past.

Pros: The staff were absolutely wonderful, accommodating and the most hard working I have ever seen. The grounds of the resort were absolutely beautiful and kept very clean. We loved our room and was kept clean and the mini refrigerator was kept stocked. The beach was pretty, yet a little rocky. As with other resorts, we did have access to top shelf liquor if we wanted, the other resorts require a preferred class wrist band. This one did not. The food was amazing. We had no complaints. The staff were once again, amazing! The room service option is awesome as well. Loved the pool side waiters, so we tipped them very well.

Cons: When we first arrived, we had to wait for a host. We thought we were waiting to check in, but then you get a staff member who is basically trying to get us to visit another one of their resorts. Beware: when they say you have $200 resort credit, don't think you can use this for just anything. They have set amounts that go toward specific things. One massage is $199, so you can only use $60 toward the massage. But then they propose if you visit the other resort (which they say is a 2 hour tour - which ends up being 5 hours) you get one massage for free .... We did not do any of this, because we have been down this road before and it is never what they say it is...but if you don't mind doing this and listening to their sales pitch, it may be worth wasting a half of a day on)We are here to vacation and relax, not be pressured about doing tours or whatever else they have to offer - so the resort credit did not mean get used or applied to anything. One suggestion would be is that they should offer beer or drinks while waiting and to listen to all that sales pitch spiel. However, they do not serve alcoholic beverages until 10 a.m.

Another first impression was that the plastic glasses that they served drinks in were very dingy and dirty looking. Not the most attractive to go with the beautiful scenery around us. I definitely feel the alcohol and liquor is diluted and watered down. Not sure all of the glasses were getting cleaned as you would get a new drink.

Another big one for us was that we were told that this is an "American owned" resort when we got there (which was no big deal to us either way - we love the Mexican people - more friendly than most Americans), although they do not serve American beer other than Budweiser or Bud light which was brewed and distilled somewhere else and it tasted awful! My husband is a beer drinker only and he was really looking forward to having Dos Equis, afterall we were in Mexico! This was by far the biggest disappointment for him.

Overall, I would definitely visit another one of their resorts and we had a wonderful time. With the exception of the beer, most of these were minor issues. I am not a picky person or one for complaint but just wanted to share our thoughts and suggestions to those looking.

Don't believe the biased reviews on trip advisor, I tried posting my review with photos of the mold on the head board,my review went from pending to non existent. We paid for the swim out room and got one next to our friends so didn't want to switch rooms.

Came as a group of 6, 5 out of 6 ppl thought this resort was mediocre a best.

The rooms are old and in need of an upgrade. The pictures of the sleek modern rooms are an unrealistic representation of the current state of the rooms. thick sloppy paint in an attempt to make things new again, stains on the wall, grime build up in the jacuzzi, and sinks. The jacuzzi had such grime on the tub, we didn't dare use it. Basic toiletries like toothbrush, toothpaste, slippers missing.

The drinks here are plain awful, all diluted, all made with the same horrid syrup. ( I stayed at the ECO CARACOL RESORT during this same trip, the comparison was sad ! over there they blended actual fruit in the margaritas ! seafood ceviche as far as the eye can see ! welcome basket of fruit and champagne) Silversands a so called 5 star resort greeted us with a filthy room, in room fridge is stocked with refillable glass type bottles of soft drinks THAT WERE FLAT WITH NO FIZZ. after 4 days of this I gave up and bought canned Coke from the gift shop upstairs.

The buffet was very limited, at times. when the food was good it was really good and when it sucked, it sucked so hard. and most of the time it sucked. on one occasion we came to the restaurant by the pool, near closing time but the staff looked at us from a far and just avoided us. After 10 mins it was clear they weren't going to acknowledge us or serve us so we left. What is so hard about saying sorry the kitchen is closed ?

Clean, comfortable and nice rooms.

Clean, comfortable and nice rooms.
Excellent specialty restaurants and buffet, all delicious!
The attention of all the staff is very good.
All the first-class facilities the only thing that leaves to be desired is the beach, there is a zargaso and it is not very beautiful.
I still recommend it!

Wanted a long warm weekend in February in Cancun. Our oceanfront room and balcony was very nice. The food was outstanding! The amenities that the hotel offers are great. The service was excellent. I can t remember who served us on the beach in the preferred area but they both went above and beyond. Our only complaints were about the availability of beach/pool towels. We stood around for 20 minutes at least 2 days for towels to be put out. Why not deliver beach towels to at least the preferred rooms so your beach or pool day is not delayed. By all means do not let that deter you from experiencing the beauty and service of this resort. Can t wait for next year!

This hotel was awful. The worst vacation experien...

This hotel was awful. The worst vacation experience that we've ever had. The staff was standoffish, the resort was in disrepair in literally every room, every common area & every pool. Our room had drain flies and the bathroom had such a stink of sulfur that we couldnt even sleep with sliding glass door shut or you would have a headache. We paid for the perferred package with an ocean view swim up suite. Firstly, the room was NOT a swim up room, in fact, none of them are. You have to walk across the crab grass to get to the pools only entry or exit area. The bathroom had a ceiling leak. The first day I went to use the tub, it had mens chest hair or pubic hair in it and it looked as though it had only been wiped down with a laundry towel or something instead of cleaned with actual cleaning products. Also one of the jets was broken and came flying off at me. The sliding glass door handle ripped off upon trying to open the door, they sent someone to fix it and it was broken again within moments. At that point I just left it off since we couldnt shut the door anyway. The pools arent heated and the tiles kept coming off under our feet. I wouldnt normally think they would need to be heated but when its overcast and chilly in the fall, they are really really cold. The main lobby had a leak that they just didnt do anything about until it was already pouring through the ceiling and had traveled to the opposite side of the building and was dropping pieces of wall and drywall onto customers and into their drinks. Then the area was blocked off but new leaks kept arising. There was black mold in some of the mens bathrooms- and we're not talking a few spots here or there, we're talking like, been there for long enough to be fuzzy like a rug. The womens bathrooms were disgusting. None of the flushometers worked so the toilets would not self flush and there was no button or handle to push to induce a flush. This meant waste of both kinds was just left rotting in the toilets until the once a day cleaning. One day in the outside bathroom someone must have stepped in waste and traipsed it all through the hotel as you could see and smell the stains all over the staircase. Also, after eating at the outside restaurant, we walked out and found cockroaches. Yes, cockroaches (saw them on our last day of course). The only saving grace to this resort place is that the food is very good- but I felt so gross after seeing the roaches on our last day.... even though the food is very good, if you want to purchase a bottle of wine, they are marked up- A LOT. Im not talking 50 or 60 bucks mark up, Im talking like 200 dollars marked up... and that has nothing to do with the money exchange.
My husband even got hurt at the spa because their sauna broke and sent him flying to the floor and bashing his torso onto the adjoining wall. Google will only give me so much space to write but all i can say is how awful this place was. The other couples we met there hated it too. We would never come back to such a run down, impersonal, disgusting place. I highly recommend the Excellence hotel chain- they are completely wonderful in every way and we will probably never stay somewhere else again.

This resort is great. Super helpful staff, nice rooms, great pools and great atmosphere. Only thing that I would change would be more lights in the room. It gets pretty dark on one side of the room.

Still here, we booked the best suite and VIP package, the room is literally on top of the bar and entertainment area, resulting in unbelievable noise levels untill 01:00.
Last night there was a very strong storm and the thatched roof that happens to be covered in tarp that banged literly all night, leaked all over the floor and furniture in several places my clothing got wet. the bathroom ceiling started to fall down in places due to the water. Thankfully the only dry place was the bed, hopefully someone at SS will red this and respond, currently been waiting 30 mins for porter, I rang reception and they have told me twice now he will be 1 minute.

My first all inclusive resort experience and it was fantastic. The staff and service was great, the property was clean and well maintained, and the food and drinks were very good as well. We went at a not peak time and found the pricing and value to be very good. We would definitely stay here again if we went back to the Puerto Morelos area.

We just got back from another trip to Secrets Silversands. Once again, it was a wonderful visit. The entire staff is helpful and friendly, from sales to bellboys to hostesses to waiters to management. The maintenance man fixed our squealing toilet valve minutes after we called.
This is a great resort, a short bus or shuttle ride from the Cancun airport. The French restaurant, Bordeaux, remained our favorite, but got stiff competition from the Mediterranean restaurant, Ratatouille, and El Patio (Mexican). The bartenders at all of the bars were are hardworking and friendly. If you're not having a good time here, maybe it's you.

Absolutely amazing. Only downside was that in order to get goggles to use at the pool you had to put down a cash deposit (who brings cash to the pool?!) and they never actually had any. Get there right in the morning if you want to rent any... Or bring your own!

Excellent hotel, the rooms are comfortable spacious, their service All inclusive is excellent, the pools and facilities very good. The restaurants their food is from regular to good, I consider that the breakfast hours could extend them, because after 11 am there are only snaks and hamburgers .. The very good drinks, excellent cleaning and the tourist treatment is immediate and excellent as well as animation services.
The only thing is that there is nothing near the hotel, although you do not need to go out except to know Cancun, Playa del Carmen, Xcaret all this is quite far from the hotel.

If could rate this less I would. DO NOT BOOK THIS PROPERTY ON EXPEDIA! They & Expedia...are very deceiving with their cancellation policy. The verbiage is listed below the continue booking and it is clearly out of site and not visible. No where in visible site does it state NON REFUNDABLE. However in the confirmation email it's clearly stated after it's too late to cancel. Stay away from EXPEDIA when booking this property. Called property and they will not cancel $1,000 and will keep it regardless if we stay or not even though we caught the error less than 24 hours after booking. Package included a standby basic economy flight that was not disclosed until after we booked the package. Also I can't even warn people about this situation on EXPEDIA because you can only write a review after you've been screwed over. BEWARE....

This was mine and my husbands first time staying i...

This was mine and my husbands first time staying in Cancun and at an all inclusive resort. We were here for 5 days for my sister's wedding. She got married at Secret Silversands and there were around 20 people in our group.
I will start with the pros. 1. The staff was very nice. From the front desk workers to the servers by the pool. Everyone very kind and the service by the pool was great. 2. The rooms were clean and spacey. We loved the large shower and jacuzzi like bath tub.

Now to the cons. 1. There is virtually no beach here. It is very small and majority of it is covered in seaweed. They do clean up the seaweed through out the day, but the beach is still really small and the water was very dirty. I did see people swimming in it, but we didnt. It was not very appealing to us. This was a big let down to us, we were excited to hang out on the beach. 2. One of the guests in our group's room key stopped working (which happens I know) but when she went to get it fixed, the front desk said that they had double booked her room because they thought she was leaving that day (we were still there for 2 more full days). She asked if her stuff was still in the room and the lady at the front desk said she wasn't sure. This seemed like a common occurrence here because while we were checking in, a couple had come down to speak to a manager because someone had came into their room while they were still checked in because they had double booked their room as well. 3. The food was average, nothing really special. It was odd being in Mexico but on the resort there was only one Mexican restaurant. The food all seemed very Americanized. 4. I wouldn't recommend couples to get married here. The restaurants had a hard time accommodating large groups of people for dinner. Most of the time we had to wait even for a table of 5. We tried to make reservations at the Hibachi place, but they wanted a person from every single room down there to make the reservation. We had to have everyone down there at 3pm because a line would form to even make a reservation for when the restaurant opened at 3:30. My sister used a wedding planner and photographer through the resort. The day of the wedding the photographer made very rude comments to my sister about her "not looking happy enough". She seemed very annoyed the whole wedding and when my sister asked for certain pictures or poses, she seemed annoyed that she asked. The photographer only wanted to poses she liked. The wedding planner also made off-handed comments to my sister. Saying that she "looked very mean."

Overall, I don't think we will come back to this resort. We left feeling like we didn't really get our moneys worth.
It wasn't a terrible experience, but I guess it really wasn't what we expected.
We would love to come back to Mexico, but I wouldn't come back here.

I recently did a tour of this property and absolutely loved it. There are 8 pools, 8 restaurants and 8 bars. Tip: if you request a room on the ground floor, most of them have a pool right outside. It's almost like a swim up, without paying extra!

I stayed here for my honeymoon and paid extra for a preferred member vip experience. They ended up putting us in what seems like the noisiest room, right by the stair well, in front of a restaurant, and right by the main party area. We heard absolutely everything from our room from dishes being cleaned, people getting ice from the ice machine, people yelling, and the non stop partying. And the do not disturb signs? The staff apparently don't know what that means even though they have "secret compartments" to put food in discreetly. We got soo many people knocking on our door and ringing our phone while we had the sign up.

We won't be staying here again which is disappointing because my stay at Secrets Maroma was really great.

The hotel was beautiful, food was delicious & the drinks were fun! However, if you are booking a swim out suite, don't let the pictures fool you. My husband and I PAID FOR and booked a SWIM OUT room with a beach view and that is not what we received. Our room did have a beach view, but no pool. The pool was about 20 feet to the right, where other rooms had the swim out pool. When using the pool all week, we felt extremely creepy bombarding other guests while they were sitting on their patios. Apparently, the room is still considered a "swim out" since the pool is so "close". But to me, a swim out means I should step off of our patio and be able to jump in the pool. We were not accommodated for this AT ALL. We paid the same amount as those who actually had a swim out pool. The ONLY reason we booked this resort for our honeymoon was for a SWIM OUT pool and we did not receive that or any sort of refund. I wish we would have called before checking in to make sure we were guaranteed a swim out pool, but since that is what our reservation said, I assumed that is what we were getting. I would NOT stay here again simply for that reason. Our room was also not available upon check in. We had to wait 3 hours to get into our room after traveling all day.
