What we loved:

What we loved:
Amazing, attentive staff. We couldn't walk through the halls or set an empty glass down without it being cleared promptly. Everyone was very friendly and sincerely interested in our comfort.
We had a junior swim-up suite. This gave us easy access to a pool that wasn't used by many other guests.
There is not a "party" atmosphere, which was perfect for a relaxing getaway. The resort is generally quiet, though there are some louder activities conducted at the main pool throughout the day. The guests generally seemed to be couples looking to relax quietly.
24/7 coffee shop, large breakfast and lunch buffet, 24/7 (included) room service and multiple
restaurant choices for dinner meant that we were always well fed!

What you should know:
There is not much shoreline to enjoy on the beach. There are chairs on the beach, but walking and swimming in the ocean is limited.
Dressing up for dinner is required unless you order room service. We thoroughly enjoyed all the dinners but didn't always feel like dressing up at the end of the day.
All pools close at 8 pm. There are different activities available every night, but know that water access will be done at 8 pm.
The drinks, while tasty, contain little to no alcohol.
Shaded chairs get reserved in the early morning by people who don't use them most of the day. There is a printed policy that prohibits this, but staff do not enforce it. We were glad to have a ground level room with lounge chairs available to us when poolside chairs were constantly taken.
On-site photo sessions, spa appointments, and a timeshare club are heavily promoted by the staff. They respected "no" for an answer, but we had to tell many, many people "no"!

Overall, this resort is beautiful and makes a wonderful place for a relaxing getaway. It is not perfect, but I would recommend it highly!

We had a great time. My son got married there. There were some glitches with the photographer and videographer and since we have been told they are closing for a brief time. Perhaps a change in management. I hope that is all, as we loved our time there! The employees are the best! There were so many amazing staff from servers to front desk to entertainment staff to bar tenders. Not a bad one there! The beds were comfortable and the resort is just beautiful.

Great food, excellent staff.

Beach was alright, but rocky and full of seaweed. Location is pretty far from the city.

Everything perfect, except the beach of Porto Morelos, many algae. But the hotel and the exceptional service, it hurts the beach, but the women's island is perfect to go. The deep water falls in love.

I'm a single traveler and was looking for a place to get away for a while that wasn't a party destination and this was a great spot. Admittedly it was mostly couples so at first it felt a little odd being there by myself but I'm used to that when traveling to places like this. The staff was top notch and the service was great. I loved the location of being about halfway from both Cancun and also Playa Del Carmen and one of my favorite little town to visit is Puerto Morelos. Oh and the lobby smells sooooooo good! It's worth taking the bus or renting a car and going to explore the surrounding areas for sure. Seaweed on the beach was a problem and despite getting some good sunrise photos, the beach and surrounding water was pretty unusable.

This was the first time we visited Secrets Silversands. Overall, my family and I really enjoyed our stay (group of 7).
Pros:
Upon arrival we were greeted by Arturo (bell boy) with a hilarious sense of humor and always with a smile. Handed us a moist cold towel to freshen up and a glass of champagne. He was with us from arrival, to preferred check in, then to each of our rooms.
Food: World cafe breakfast was great, outstanding service by our waiter Salvador. He was very attentive and would adhere to all of our request. The Chef brought freshly made chilaquiles to our table, which were delicious!
You can find a great variety of food from Mexican, Mediterranean, Italian, French, Pan-Asian, and of course American. Wine selection at the restaurants were decent and assorted.
Shout out to Monica, who is a server in the pool area, she kept on bringing our drinks very quickly and always had a smile.
All the bars are well stocked, however the preferred bar has all the high end selection. Cristina was our preferred bartender. She made killer mango margaritas and mudslides for my wife.
Rooms: from the moment we walked in special treatment. The room was impeccable and well stocked. A la carte room service is available 24/7.
Entertainment: live band was energetic and played great. DJ shows and market place on site.
Spa: was extremely relaxing, amazing massage. (Extra fee)
Cons: Beach access was small and rocky, full of seaweed. Staff did their best to clean it but was overwhelming. Red flag due to this. (Pool area made up for it, we didn't miss the beach)
Make sure to pack your own straw if you enjoy frozen drinks since this is an eco friendly property.
We highly recommend this resort and would definitely return. We were treated like royalty.

Guillermo del Restaurant Frances made the difference in my vacations. I felt special. The Chef offered us a very tasty cut of meat. Thank you. In December I return with my two children who live in Dallas and one in Sydney Australia.

The entire hotel is super clean and the staff is friendly. I love how they offer some better than average liquors compared to most hotels I've stayed at in Mexico. Also they use bottled water for everything which is great. The pools are nice and the food has been good. If you're from the US the food won't blow you away, but try a bunch of things and see what works for you. Location is very close to the airport which is nice. The beach isn't that great and at least during our stay the water and sand were littered with sea weed which isn't the hotels fault but still annoying. Overall I would definitely stay here again.

Half the staff doesn't speak English. Restrictions are more adhered to than other secrets resorts in the Caribbean. Beach was mostly prohibited from swimming. wind was strong the whole time. Staff was friendly even tho a gardener stole a pack of cigarettes that I left on my first floor patio. Thinking I paid $3k for my all inclusive trip.

Pro's:

Pro's:
Extremely friendly staff, excellent food, great hotel. The room was clean and very spacious. There are 8 pools to choose from so if there were events going on in the main pool we didn't want to be around, it was no problem to find another place to relax. The Spa was one of the best I have ever been to, and had a very accommodating staff and very relaxing environment. There was lots of entertainment to opt in or out of, and they had events planned for every night of the week. While in the pool or even hanging out on the patio of your room, a waiter/waitress will come around to take your drink orders, and even an Ice Cream man comes by! There were quite a few wedding parties there when we went, so getting close to the swim up bar in the main pool was impossible. This wasn't really a problem though because the waitress who had the route of pools we happened to be spending our time in, came around frequently.
Con's:
There is some staff who constantly hounds you to up-sell services. There was some pandering for tips and and the concierge approached us on more than one occasion to attend timeshares and sister properties with the goal of pressure sales. Ive been to other "all inclusive" chains, and this one had many options that were not included (as had been in other experiences I have had). Even while we were in the pools, a spa salesmen , a photo salesmen, and a 'romantic dinner' salesman would follow us. The spa salesmen they have positioned around the grounds would try to pressure us into sales "if you dont buy it before 11am the sale will be gone!" except the sale was good the entire week we were there... (though the spa service itself was excellent).

All in all we had a great time and loved it here. If you can get over the bit of those cons listed, it was an enjoyable, relaxing stay and we would definitely go back.

Hands down will be going back.

Hands down will be going back.
We stayed here for my husbands birthday.
What can I say? Everything is amazing from the moment you walk in!! we received 2 glasses of champagne, checked in and taken to our room within 15mins
We had a junior suite swim-out that had a beautiful view of the surrounding gardens.
When we got to the room there was a happy birthday banner with cake and Champaign waiting for him in the room.

We spent a lot of time at our swim-out pool and the pool service was amazing. We had the pleasure of having Karen as our attendant, she was very happy and friendly. She noticed that my husband was drinking a beer the first time she came around to take our order,(we ordered a Tulum which is amazing)she brought extra beer for him without us even asking. That was a very pleasant surprise. Her attention to detail was amazing.

Our mini bar attendee was Freddie who also had great attention to detail. Again noticed that we liked a certain kind of beer and brought us extra.

We had brunch at the world cafe almost everyday and were happily greeted by Mar, she was very polite friendly and remembered us every time.
Along with Abraham who was one of our favourite servers. we had him for brunch and dinner. He was very friendly and new the menu very well.

Let me tell you about the nightly entertainment. WOW !!!!!! The dancers and singers are hands down our favourite, from Jersey Boys to Queen to the Traditional Mexican show it was absolutely AMAZING. The night staff had great energy. They had something new every night. We were there for a week and I believe all but one night we were blown away. We have been to a few all inclusive resorts now and nothing we have seen previous can compare to the amount of entertainment and the quality here.

We didn t spend too much time at the main pool (we had a swim out suite) but we did spend an afternoon out there. They had a pool concierge to help you find a good seat set out your towel even clean your sunglasses. The atmosphere was great, good music and friendly staff.

We spent a few hours hanging out on the beach. Didn t go in the ocean (we are more pool people) but they did have someone cleaning up the seaweed. Which was nice.

Like I said we will definitely be going back.

Luxury hotel not too crowded. Great food and room service. Beach is too Stony, but great swimming pools and other amenities. We have celebrateed my husband birthday and it is perfect place for small party.we enjoyed and would recommend it to everyone!

A very nice and quiet place, the food is good, the service is excellent, the rooms are very nice, it is very quiet so if you are looking for more atmosphere it is not the place, but if you want to rest it is perfect

Rooms are nice. Our robes were missing and the TV doesn't work very well but a quick call fixed the robes and we don't use the TV much. There was a bit of mold on our sink, the toilet didn't work too well, and the hair dryer didn't work. These were all minor problems that didn't hurt our general experience much but still a bit off-putting. The service staff is mostly wonderful. Maybe a little too helpful if that's even possible. Lots of knocks for one thing or another (just make sure you put do not disturb on your door although this doesn't always fix it). Very friendly and no real complaints there! Seating area at the beach is a little small and the chairs are a little uncomfortable. But everything is beautiful and the pools are great and the drinks are great and the restaurants are pretty darn good. Hibachi was lovely. Overall fairly happy here but likely won't return. Secrets Maroma was far better but also more expensive.

Overall it's a nice hotel, best so far of the three all inclusive resorts that I've stayed at in Cancun. Rooms are quite large though slightly dated, with a spacious balcony. The vibe is on the relaxed side, generally catering to an older clientele and couples.

Good things:
- lots of pools
- easy to get tables at restaurants
- restaurant and bar staff
- large room with balcony and jacuzzi
- free room service
- nightly entertainment. It's very good.
- large resort and doesn't feel crowded (and we were there for Christmas weekend)

Not so good:
- dated rooms
- beach
- housekeeping (had to call multiple times each day to get coffee maker cleaned and restocked)
- they're alwaysatrying to get you to buy more. As soon as we arrived, we were made to listen to the sales guy for over 30 minutes before they let us go to our room, by which time lunch was over! Imagine waking up at 5am, taking a flight, reaching Cancun, being excited for the resort, but just being sold add-ons from a used car salesman. This one thing made our stay 20% less fun.
- food wasn't great
- booze selection was along the lines of a budget hotel, rather than a luxury hotel. Not many premium options.

Don't go here if you're looking to spend most of your time on the beach. It's quite a bad beach. You're probably better of in the main hotel zone for that. But, if lazing in a pool and hot tub works, this is a great option.

The place has very good facilities .... And in general good service from its staff, Just as an observation I think that at lunchtime there is a lack of variety since there are only the snack and the open seafood restaurant. the specialty restaurants have very good cuisine but especially the French.

I leave tomorrow and I can't wait I was given a nasty dirty room . The mattress was falling apart (I will post photos) I took the sheets off (because I had bite marks ) to see if I saw any bed bugs and the mattress looks 100 years old. The tub and sink had hair , stains, and even a scab in it. (I promise I can't make this up) it's my birthday trip and they left the information off my room so I didn't receive anything special (as I was suppose to ) for my birthday I told the lady about it she said my travel agent didn't put it down but when I showed her where he did she didn't have much to say. The custom service besides the room issues as far as how nice everyone is 10/10 the people at the bar and in the restaurants are very nice. The drinks aren't strong but have a good taste to them but to be honest I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone I paid right at $2000 and that's not included flight for this trip to have to stay in a dumpster

The place is amazing for a couple vacation, with 8 or more pools, spa, 7 all-inclusive buffet restaurants, as well as the bar from 11:00 am to 1:00 am, cafeteria, beach activities, night show etc. You can not get bored, there's no way, just an incredible experience

Hotel 4 diamonds, all included, very nice, the attention is first, unfortunately there was sargasso in the sea and we could not enjoy the beach. Excellent place, highly recommended.

The waiters, bellboys and lovely ladies waiting on the pools outside were GREAT.For a 4 diamond hotel,we were overall disappointed. The reception area couches were filthy and smelled awful. We were taken to the "preferred club"(joke)and were at least in a more private area to check in.Our traveling companions had an emergency at home and had to leave after a day.NO ONE in the hotel "preferred club"or main hotel did anything to assist them in finding emergency transportation home except pointing them to a hotel laptop that was yahoo.mx(in Spanish).Luckily, the Vacation Express/Nexus representative jumped in to help and we got them home.Once in our room,it was clean, cool, and well maintained.Even though you have a thermostat in your room, the temperature is clearly warmer by morning.Mini fridge was filled daily and we were able to call room service and request specifics. You could use a kayak free, but it isn't a kayak appropriate for the ocean.Small catamarans are available for free too.Snorkeling was "available" and upon asking they would tell you the additional fees. There were lots of unclear answers to simple questions. We were offered the"opportunity"to go visit one of the other Secrets properties for a 1.5 hour tour, but then you can stay the rest of the day AND receive free transportation back. They will want to keep your drivers license to do this and hold it hostage until you complete the 5.5 hr tour.NOT on my vacation in another country.Hell no.BEWARE folks. The grounds were well maintained, however the beach has serious erosion issues. To us,this meant no strolling the beach in the morning or evening. The water is NOT blue or blue green as pictured in EVERY advertisement for this place. It is dark with the healthy aquatic environment and seaweed. If you plan to snorkel on your own, you will have to swim out pretty far, but not too far as the buoys are the limit due to the boating channel.

We got married here on October 20, 2016.. I must say that it was the best decision ever. We was so pleased and our family was too! They treated us like royalty!! We will be back soon!! Thanks Secrets Silversands Staff!

Secrets Silversands was a resort that was suggested to us as a honeymoon spot by friends. It also made it very easy to decide on this resort due to the reviews found online. Although this resort is technically a 5 star resort, the yoga instructor on site tells us that it is one of the more affordable resort of the Secrets brand name. That said, it doesnt leave anything to imagine when it comes to service, amenities, activities, etc. The drive from the airport to the hotel is approx 15-25 mins, it appears to be one of the closer resorts to the airport. Everyone is very friendly here, everyday we hung out by the pool was a great experience. Staff will do very frequent rounds to serve drinks. There are games and activities that staff will get involved in, seem to know how to have fun. Room service is awesome, all included. The mini fridge includes beer, pop, juice; they will come around to restock every morning. There is a lot to talk about, no one is very pushy when it comes to extra services like massages, excursions, wine list in restaurants. My advice is to just listen briefly and kindly acknowledge they offered, they have to make a living some how. Tipping staff: I saw a generalized breakdown of how to tip on TripAdvisor. I vaguely remember what it said, but how we've been tipping has been: - in Mexican pesos (or USD if you have extra laying around) - 20/50 pesos per one or two rounds of drinks/ 2-3 rounds respectively. - in the buffet restaurant about 50 pesos - a'la carte restaurants we do about 70 pesos - at the habachi restaurant about 100 pesos. Regardless, tip as you see fit. Just because you're at an all-inclusive resort, don't feel overly entitled to expect staff to be there at hand and feet. I've seen a few people, some that were part of the preferred membership, complain about miniscule things, maybe that's just me seeing it that way. Hope this helps, and happy relaxing!

The staff were phenomenal. Very attentive and very nice. It's a decent hotel but there is very very little beach. It shows it's age a little bit. We did find three cockroaches in our room during the course of our stay.

Spent 8 days here in an oceanfront, swimout room. Room was good, nothing spectacular. The view from the room was fantastic! The food was great. Service was top notch. Delmy, providied excellent pool and beach service, she was outstanding. Always smiling and engaging, service was prompt. She remembered your name, asked about your home and remembered what you did for a living. She went above and beyond! Mar, World Market restaurant hostess was exceptional. Very friendly and engaging. She remembered your name and made you time there seem important.
The beach isn't much, not alot of lounge chairs or cabanas to offer guests.
The beach. Is dealing with ebb and flow of the tides. Some days will be better than others. Some days there will be a lot of trackors out picking up tons of seaweed. You can not wade in the ocean, as it is only knee deep
The pool was excellent. Grounds were very well maintained. Not a big fan of the live entertainment shows. That needed a lot of work to get them to be entertaining

Stars of this resort is service. Delmy and Mar were both beyond spectacular in there service
I commend them especially but want everyone to know that the staff were all courteous and engaging ,but Delmy (pool/beach service and Mar at World Market tooknthT extra step and asked about home and remember each time you saw them.

The service is what make these types of reports run and the better the service the better review the service will receive.

Would go back.

Not a great experience. It was our honeymoon and they messed up our room, didn t take responsibility or apologize, and kept trying to convince us that the room they gave us was better than the one we originally booked (although they might ve though so, we didn t and were quite disappointed, but we got over it). There were a bunch of leaks in the roof (in our room and throughout the hotel) so we constantly had to call the front desk. They also decided to fix the roof at 7:30am one morning so we were woken up to crazy loud banging sounds first thing. We couldn t swim in the ocean because there was 2 foot high wall of seaweed creating a barricade between us and the ocean and it was never cleaned up. The food here is good. That I will say. The French restaurant was our favourite. We won t being going back, though, and I wouldn t recommend it.

Some of the staff are lovely but there are a concerning amount that are rude and make you go out of your way to sort issues that arise whilst staying here. Its not fun having to spend hours sorting things when its been paid for already and you would like to spend time relaxing. Although a small percentage of staff are excellent, the majority dont seem to care and its the worst hospitality I have encountered from a restort/hotel staff.
