Lobby staff was great. Room was comfortable with an awesome view and balcony. However, room service menu was very limited and quality of food was horrible. I've been to many Marriott locations across the country, some of which were not as nice or as expensive, yet they had better room service options. $303 per night with only handheld breakfast items? $8 delivery? All I wanted was an all American breakfast in the privacy of my room: 2 eggs, toast, bacon, and hash browns with a cup of coffee. But no....guests have to get dressed and go down to the restaurant for that level of service. Crazy. Never again.

This is one of my favorite hotels in the entire world. I love coming to this hotel it's a splendid experience each and every time. Recently I was here and I needed my shoes shined in a very bad way. The shoe Shiner had left for the weekend. Jonathan from The Concierge Lounge took my shoes and found a shoe Shiner downtown at the downtown Nordstrom's brought them back in a cloth bag and they were perfect. Kudos to Jonathan and his staff if you're in San Diego this is the place you should stay. You will absolutely love the views of the city and the views of the harbor it's spectacular. I look forward to going back each time I have business in San Diego and staying here.

Great views of the bay and pool area from the balcony. Front desk service was quick and courteous. The hotel is family friendly but still has a romantic couples vibe. The room is adorned with beach inspired pictures and has a very relaxing decor.

I only stayed at the Marriott Marquis for one nigh...
I only stayed at the Marriott Marquis for one night, but I definitely appreciated the location and classiness of the hotel. This hotel is located right by the San Diego Convention Center - primarily the reason we chose to book it - and within walking distance of the Gaslamp district. My friend had enough points to upgrade our room to one with a balcony and view of the marina and the hotel's pool, which was a definitely plus as the balcony from our room was amazing!
The moment we walked into the room, we were all pretty much in awe. The room was very modernly decorated (lots of brown, earthy colors), with ample space for people to walk around in. There was also a flat screen television and a large desk. A comfy armchair and table stool was off to the side leading out to the balcony. There's a good amount of closet space. Bathrooms are fairly large, although I didn't like the setup as the toilet was right next to the bathtub, and the curtains were quite flimsy, allowing some water to seep out.
Honesty, the best part of the room was the balcony. Walking out, you're able to see San Diego bay with all the docked boats. There's two chairs and a table, allowing guests to sit outside and enjoy the view and fresh air. The pool of the Marriott is uniquely shaped - a curved "U" with lots of bends. At night, the Marriott's pool is lit up with bright lights, giving off a very romantic and calm feel to the hotel stay especially when you're taking it in along with the cool breeze!
Personally, I felt like the first floor of the Marriott reminded me of ballrooms at Universities and convention centers. There are lots of different halls and suites, and LOTS of events going on every day. So much so, that they have an LCD display that lists daily events. All throughout the hotel are comfortable armchairs and tables for guests to linger about.
Hm, so maybe I lied. I also really enjoyed the hotel's pool! Although I didn't get into the water, I was able to sit on one of their comfortable sunbathing chairs and people watch. They have a bar area where people can order drinks/food, and they also have various fireplaces scattered around the pool area for people to sit around when the evening breeze starts to come in. And you can find really beautiful decorations - waterfalls, plants, flowers - scattered throughout the pool area. The pool's bathrooms are fairly nice, with shower stalls (don't forget your room key or else you can't get into the bathroom). There's also a hot tub area that's separated from the pool area.
Okay, besides the pool and the balcony, I REALLY loved the gym. The Marriott has THE nicest gym I have ever seen at a hotel. They even have complimentary apples for the guests next to the towels and earphones. I thought that was really nice and I might have taken one or two. There's filtered water in the gym, as well as lemon water. Lots of cardio machines, weights, exercise balls, unique machines that I have never seen before, spin bikes, etc. Even a room dedicated to spin bikes, kickboxing, and classes that you can sign up for (although I'm not sure if they cost money)! I definitely checked out the gym thoroughly, and found that the bathrooms have really nice lockers, bright lights framing the sinks, more towels.
tl;dr - Overall, I really recommend this hotel if you're looking for somewhere to stay in SD. The parking was convenient (we paid a flat fee and would give a ticket to the attendants every time we entered), beds were quite comfortable, rooms were nice, and the amenities that this hotel has to offer - really amazing! The only complaint I would give would be to upgrade the bathrooms. The shower curtains could use a change, and it would be nicer to have the toilet be a little further away from the shower, just so you don't smell any unpleasant odors while showering. You do get what you pay for, and you pay quite a lot to stay here, so obviously you would expect a lot from this hotel. The only thing I can say is ... take advantage of the pool, gym, and get some apples from the gym!

Everyone is very nice and accommodating. I was given a beautiful room with a view of the bay. The balcony was such a nice plus. It's also completely enclosed so my 1 year old could be out there with us which was perfect. We walked down to seaport village and enjoyed happy hour. Great location!

I was just volunteering there, I didn't see any of the rooms. Parking was kind of a pain, but that's not their fault. I didn't know where to go for the volunteer event I was attending, and all of the staff were helpful directing me to where I needed to go.

The location in downtown San Diego can't be beat. The guest rooms are mid tier corporate; very clean but not luxury or remarkable in design. The meeting space is excellent and large. The staff are very helpful. The food is not so good, but the nearby restaurants and the Roy's are nice.

Beautiful, excellent resort. Located along the waterfront with a wonderful view of the marina. The grounds and facilities are with a nice large pools, green grassy areas and plenty of shades. The room are decent sized, modern furnishings and decor. The beds are soft, bath was a bit small but functional. Beddings and towels are new and soft. As always, I really love the bath amenities. Wifi worked well and very fast. The staff are friendly, helpful and professional. Will definitely stay here again.

Posting a photo of the view from our room, because it really was the only good thing about the place.
That, and the service received in the lobby eating options. Ruben was amazing at the breakfast buffet, and the folks running the pizza eatery were wonderful.
Two days of complaining and fixing and re-fixing to get our shower sort of working (camp shower cold was as good as got by day 3), lobby lacked adequate data to assist with basic tourist information beyond a map of the harbor (which was useless without a detailed transit authority map...which I had no idea how to get, but thankfully Google saved the day).
Then, when our internet was supposed to be included in our room charge (billed to our card and the charges reversed, per the room package we had) the hotel did nothing. Not on site (who said they'd "have it taken care of"), not when my husband called when we got home (apparently "taken care of" means "do nothing").
At almost $20 a day, the fees added up fast.
So, if you want a room with a top notch location to access the trolley line and stroll the marina, this is the place to be.
Just don't expect any amenities, or comfort, or even proper maintenance.
We're here every other year in a very large group for a conference. While I am sympathetic to things running slower due to volume, this hotel is strategically placed to accommodate tourists, and we weren't the only group present....and they failed.
But at least the view from our room lovely (which we only got because they forgot to assign us a room, therefore giving us a 'complimentary upgrade').

We (my brother and I ) had a wonderful experience at this location. It was near to everything . The pool area was very resort-like which we loved .The breakfast buffet was so good and the cooks and servers so very friendly. We like to mention that Esmerelda Garcia was just the sweetest and so very accommodating. We just looked forward to seeing her in the morning and having a few words with her . The atmosphere was warm and friendly---the staff and guests included . I would like to mention that Alfredo, Concierge, was just the nicest and very patient. He was so helpful, so kind and so fun. The same can be said for Marcos as well. Elizabeth, who took care of our room was also very considerate and nice . We had a wonderful stay and will happily recommend this hotel.
Thank you for a great memory.

Huge beautiful hotel with lots of meeting rooms. The hotel is nice and clean. Staff is helpful, even if you are not a guest but there for other functions. Closest you can get to the convention center. If you have activities at the convention center, this is the best place to be, you can walk to the convention center and you can walk over and enjoy PetCo Park a few blocks away. Everything you need is in walking distance.

I visited the Marriott Marquis San Diego Marina as part of a professional conference. It was not the first time I had been inside, however this was the first time I had seen or used any of their conference rooms. The staff of the hotel was extremely professional, the conference rooms for large, spacious, and very clean, and I was very happy with my experience. I am looking forward to the next time I visit San Diego, as I will look towards staying at this Marriott Hotel!

I will never come to this hotel again. The outlook of hotel was good. Their swimming pool was nice. The valet and other staff was nice. Nice smile and happy to serve you. Except the front desk.
We were four people family so we booked a room for four persons. However, the bed was extremely small. We booked a 4-people room, which means that we paid the price for 4 people. But actually it was for 2 people. All the stuff included cups, and bed were for 2 people, and the room was really smalWe argued to the front desk but they told us the bed was already their" biggest bed". Therefore, we canceled the other reservations.
Also, their parking is not free. $28 dollars per night for self parking. $40 dollars for valet. There was no street parking.
No free wifi in the room.
