Amazing Marriott in the heart of San Diego. This is where you will want to stay. Great views on the ocean side or city view side, you can not go wrong. Great food and pool side bars are a must. Fire pit at night with a glass a wine is sublime. A $25 destination amenity gives you a 1 hr bike rental or 1 hr kayak or paddle board rental, high speed wi-fi, instructor led fitness class, $10 food and drink credit at Starbucks, and two featured glasses of wine (wine tasting) at the tasting bar between 4:30-6:30 PM. This is a $100 value! This Marriott Marquis has won me over. Also a quick 8 minutes walk from the historic Gas Light District where there are many restaurants and taverns to be had. The shopping couldn t be any better in this renaissance enclave of SanDiego. For all those baseball fans, Petco Park is very, very close by. A short walk from the lobby to stadium. I can t wait to stay here again.

New hotel and very convenient location - especially if you are at the convention center, service was excellent, the pool area looks really nice (again on business did not get a chance to enjoy). They charge $25/night extra and give you a bunch of options that as a business traveler I dont need, $35/night for parking and I ended up having to park very far from the hotel..

We had the best view in 422! You can see the pool & further out to the boats and ocean. The staff is nice. Great amenities. We walked everywhere. Great location! Nice area. It's the cleanest downtown area I've visited in a large city.

What was supposed to be a long weekend spent in th...

What was supposed to be a long weekend spent in the paradise of San Diego, became a weekend of hell largely because of our experience at the Marriott Marquis San Diego Marina. In fact, if it would have been possible, we would have spent our last night sleeping on a bench at the airport as we could not leave this hotel soon enough.
We'd been on a business trip this last weekend (1/16/15 to 1/19/15) attached to a bit of pleasure and after spending most of the day Saturday (1/17) away from our room on business, followed with some sightseeing and dinner plans, we returned late that evening. The following morning I realized my makeup bag, which contained my carefully prescribed medication, was missing. I had not left it out in the open in an obvious place, so whoever took it had taken the time to rifle through our personal belongings--in and of itself extremely upsetting. We reported the incident to the security staff and were held hostage to the hotel several hours while the incident was being "investigated" and the recorded comings and goings via key access by ourselves and service staff was verified. After a long wait, and hearing virtually nothing, my partner asked to speak to the manager of security. We waited at least 20 minutes in the lobby before he finally arrived to speak to us. He relayed that the member of the service staff who had cleaned our room said "she didn't do it" (as if someone would admit to it!) and that he believed her--implying we were lying or that it had to be someone else. We invited him to search our room himself which he did in a ridiculously theatrical way with a phony sense of urgency. Finding nothing, he suggested that our next door neighbors could have done it by climbing between the narrow space between our two balconies--a dangerous and highly unlikely scenario--but enough of a possibility to create "reasonable doubt" that the service staff member was the only possible person who could have done it. As the guests next had just checked out and their room not yet cleaned, he then invited us to accompany him while he once again in ridiculous "frantic" theatrics "searched" their room to no avail.
Finally, we decided to leave the hotel hoping to enjoy a bit of our last day in San Diego and TWICE gave the security manager the explicit directive to not allow our room to be entered or cleaned by anyone on the service staff. When we returned several hours later, my clothes had been folded and moved from where I'd left them, the bed made and even another bottle of medication--not stolen I suppose because it had no street value--moved and placed in a prominent location away from where I'd left it!
This experience can only be described as astonishing and maddening! My partner travels a lot on business and is an "elite" member of the Marriott Hotel properties which certainly have no problem taking the vast amounts of money he has spent with them over the years. We will never again choose to be guests of the Marriott and highly recommend anyone reading this review take heed and choose another hotel anywhere and everywhere you may be traveling, business or pleasure.

This is one of the best spots to relax in San Diego. The rooms are very modern, spacious, and most of them have fabulous views (especially the ones facing the bay). The pool area is awesome to hang out at. Lots of seating and lounging space in various locations to suit all moods (i.e. shade, sun, close to water, close to bar, etc). On a recent visit had some phenomenal drinks at the Tequila Bar and Grill. My favorite was the Mezcal Paloma. The mezcal adds just the right amount of balance to the drink and the pink peppercorns are great accent. Genius! The beers represent a lot of the local SD craft breweries and were hit with the gentlemen in the group. If you are craving a snack go for the ceviche.

Great location. Beautiful pool setting. Very good bar/restaurant. Rooms were slightly smaller than expected, but were very clean and pleasant. They charge a resort fee every day, but you get a $10 credit at the cafe, a free glass of wine, and a few other things every day in return. No free internet unless you're a member. The staff were perfect all around.

Love the hotel. Perfect location to NASNI and fantastic grounds and hotel in general. The $25 a day resort fee is so worth it with a credit to use at the exchange or Starbucks, wine tasting at night and rental of SUP during the day.

Fantastic amenities, comfortable floors, ergonomic toilets, smart TV's, and responsive and eager staff.

But they'll charge you an arm and a leg for valet parking and the cost kept getting higher.

The pool area is solid and lots of room albeit a touch busy on weekends...but everyone wants a slice of paradise.

The rooms are in good shape and decent but a bit dated in terms of decor.

Staff are excellent.

I didn't use many of the facilities, but everything I interacted with has been awesome. Staff is friendly (I opted out of room service), on location bar is great. And the room was very clean with a great view.

Came here for a professional mixer event. It was a cocktail hour in one of the smaller meeting rooms. The venue is clean and spacious, food was pretty good and service was decent. Took a star off because the bartender wanted a drink ticket for a water.

I loved this hotel! The location was perfect and all the staff was very friendly and helpful. Our room was spacious and clean. The linens were very comfortable. There was a Starbucks located near the lobby, which earned major points in my book. Starbucks is not my favorite, but I need coffee in the morning and I hate the in room coffee that all the hotels provide. In the morning I ordered breakfast from the exchange pantry and it was really good. My daughter has food allergies and they had stuff she could even eat. The only thing I didn't like was the sound of the trolley. I booked a city view balcony room and I could hear it faintly through the night, but I am a super light sleeper. My husband wasn't bothered by it. I think next time I'll just pay the extra for a bay view room.

Just went on a small vacation to San Diego for the first time and loved it. I stayed here and I am super happy with the guest service and the stuff was well mannered as well as very playful that's a plus. However I do have to mention my unpleasant experience at the Starbucks, I was treated very disrespected and as if it was an issue to make my drink from one of the employees. She was a young gal maybe around early 20's with dark curly hair and very bad attitude, so please watch out for this girl she doesn't know what it means to give good customer service.

Comfortable and convenient with beautiful views extending across the Bay.....however with a flight to catch very early, our breakfast paid for with room, we could not grab a small bite to eat at 6;15...I understand breakfast opens at 6:30...
But running tight the manager would not yield to this request. ...even cereal or coffee. ..a bit disappointed. .......
In fact the day before the prior manager said that we could be afforded something small to eat when we were leaving Sat morning ....never happened .....to me not a good look for a Class hotel.....

Great location (next to Convention Center & Gas Lamp District). The views from the upper floors are incredible. We stayed on the 5th floor for 6 nights. Wound up taking the stairs most of the time, due to slow elevators, but that could have been due to a "full house". I would stay at this location again if we return to San Diego.

Exceptional service! Talk about being pampered! Took advantage of their two outdoor hot tubs and fully equipped workout facility. Special bonus for Marriott Plus Members on the 24th floor - which we are and our rooms were conveniently on that floor as well!
