I thought that the Soviet Union was far behind, but no. It smells like old age

Looking for a central hotel in Kyiv with parking facilities, we booked three nights and stayed at this hotel last week. Yes, it is relatively central and they have a large parking lot, but that was about it. The entire hotel carries a flair of old, ostentatious Soviet pomp, but is pretty run down and the staff is uncoordinated and not very service oriented. The first night, we arrived rather late and decided to have something to eat in the hotel's restaurant. Even if just a few tables were occupied, we were at first blatantly ignored by the waiters and when they finally decided to get our orders, many of the drinks on the menu were not available and we were told that it would take at least 45 minutes if we wanted something to eat. We decided to order food anyway and being just two persons, it shouldn't have been too difficult to bring us our food at the same time. My company got his food after a while, but finished his meal before my food was served just shy of an hour after we ordered. I had ordered a medium rare steak and was served a dry, chewy, not-so-pleasant well done piece of meat. After waiting yet another while for the waitress' attention, I complained about the food and was briskly told that they will of course take it back, but it will take another 45 minutes to prepare a new meal. We didn't really have time for that, so I decided to return the meat and tried to satisfy myself with potatoes and mushrooms. The cake I ordered for desert was still partially frozen and probably some cheap convenience product just taken out of the freezer. It was probably the worst and most expensive meal we had during two weeks in Ukraine. The next day, we needed a taxi, but the drivers waiting outside the hotel are just there to rip off unknowing tourists with unreasonable prices. The front desk staff refused to call us a proper taxi instead, so we had to stroll down to the main road and get a taxi from there. Be aware if you are planning to use public transport. The area is quite hilly and the next metro stop is quite a bit away. It could be tedious to get there with a lot of luggage.

Externally - a grand and great ottel. The room in which I settled not for 5 stars needs repair, the furniture is old. Not presentable. But ... the service staff is polite, friendly, fluent in English. Great food. Everything is very delicious. For breakfast - buffet. The dishes are varied. And a lot of them. The range is designed for people with different taste preferences.

For early check-in they charge me $50 And I never beware of that Because on the qebside say check in 24 hours, Very nosy hotel Never stay there again

It's worth to check which room is booked. There are few standards. But staff very friendly, breakfasts tastefull but felt lack of traditional spieces. Stadium neighborhood. Very good centrum location. Clean rooms. Do not be afraid of asking for room change if you feel uncomfortable for any reason (for instance noise in neighbouring rooms). No fitness or swimming pool. In our of lifts there is jogging route you can take thru Kiev ...one 6km one 12km. Five for all the efforts visible.

This hotel is our organization regularly selects for a variety of corporate events (here I mean not only the so-called "corporate parties", but also all sorts of trainings, trainings, seminars, meetings with customers, etc.).
What can you say about the hotel Rus? Little. Just wonderful!
I personally took part in the organization of a similar corporate holiday for several years in a row, the same in format and similar in content.
And a couple of times it happened that we simply could not manage to book Rus Hotel on the right day (everything was already booked), respectively, it was necessary, as it turned out, to be content with other hotels (one of them is quite close by - I will not voice its name not to be considered for anti-advertising). And it is precisely because I have something to compare with, and I can judge the quality of the services provided by the Hotel Rus. Although, to be honest, there is simply nothing to judge here - everything is immaculate and at the highest level. Representatives of the hotel are always very polite and "flexible" guys, ready to meet the client. Everyone always works strictly according to the approved scenario, but at the same time they are ready to help if in the course of the event it is necessary to quickly make corrections.
On nutrition: the same highest level. If a specific menu and price is indicated for it, you will receive exactly as much as ordered. And at the same time, if there are still, say, buns or cakes from the first coffee-house, they will all be served to you at the second coffee-house, even if the second coffee-house on the price list included only coffee and no snacks. That is, the staff will not "take away the pockets" of the remaining food.
And this happened to us just in the "unnamed" neighboring hotel, when, the hotel decided to achieve the necessary weight of food per person, simply putting huge dishes on a buffet table just with boiled buckwheat !!! So also at a certain time (with a stopwatch, they stood there or something, I don t know) the waiters quietly entered the hall and took out, sorry, all the remaining meat dishes (they also decided to leave buckwheat complacently to us;).
So the level of catering in the hotel Rus I have something to compare. I am sure that such a shame will never happen to them.
I'm tired of writing. So far, everything and about the Hotel Rus is only one word: I recommend.
Sorry, two words: I STRONGLY RECOMMEND!

The hotel has a good location, almost in the center near the Sports Palace metro station. The room is small not modern. Service and breakfast are not bad.

overall the hotel is not bad but in my room there are quite clean outdated spots on the carpet that obviously cannot be removed anymore and the bathroom could have been cleaner

The disposition of norms seems to be nothing like that ... but the hack work numbers are a feeling that they are still from the USSR, but they are not bad restored ( not bad is not the same thing as good ... just better than there, quite sad)

Clean, rich breakfast buffet with daily varying food, comfortable beds. Visually, the hotel is already a bit old, yet perfectly okay if you are just as we are only to sleep suburb. Price / performance so perfectly okay and you have a nice view in the higher floors too.

Overpriced. Good location with nearby shopping mall and metro station. Well served meals buffet style. A lot of options for conference halls. Big parking.

Nice hotel without NB, HP... packe. All is separated - breakfast, dinner and lunch you must pay in hotel restoran for all meal separate. But, good news is that price is not a high.
