This won an international award for landscaping in 2013. Out of everywhere in the world that year they decided this place was the best. And it's in Cranbourne.
Cranbourne doesn't deserve this place, but they have it. It's amazing.

What a fantastic place! Plenty to see, fantastic gardens and so many interactive thing's for kids to do. I can't wait to see how the gardens evolve over the next few years.
Expansive, peaceful gardens. Free to visit. Beautiful place for a family walk. Lots of birdlife and some native wildlife. Convenience of cafe, toilets and gorgeous little shop.
An easy walk around very diverse gardens and plantings. A great place to show off our Australian flora and if you get lucky you may see some fauna too.
Stunning and well thought out place... There is complete wheelchair accessability... The do a bus service around the site, which you can get on and off from around a huge site... Plenty of places to have a picnic, staff are very knowledgeable and friendly. You can tell they have a passion for the area and Australian flora... Gardens are well thought out with many different parts of the country represented. There is a phenomenal gift shop and lovely restaurant on site, with good value for money food and drinks.
I like it better when weather is cooler bcos much of this garden has not much shade. On a busy patronage day like today NY 2021, about 26 deg C - hard going to find a cool spot. Says it all about native plants - no cool canopy. But a gorgeous huge garden nevertheless - just pick the right day! Try the garden Explorer ride for a tour in comfort - fee payable.
With free entry and located just outside of the Cranbourne town center, Australian Gardens is a fantastic place to take the kidlets and let them stretch their legs. Theres pram friendly pathways and you can bring your own food. Parents should be aware that there are open water areas of the gardens with no childproof fencing.
Great place to take the kids, paddle pool and tonnes of area to explore. The groundskeepers even offered us some outdoor games! Will be going again many times.
Spectacular gardens and this is coming from a bloke who doesn't know anything thing about gardens or gardening. Very casual, we didn't stop at the Cafe but they were pumping so must be good.
Despite it being a pretty rainy day, we were able to use an umbrella from the check in. Everyone we met was incredibly pleasant. Very interesting cross-section of Australian wild flora.
The cafe has a surprising amount of choices for gluten free deserts. Calming ambiance to the whole visit.
Always a great place to go to,, you can walk around the gardens or go to the walking tracks before the gardens plenty of wildlife on the walking tracks if you are early enough ,the cafe is very good also
I visited to see the NAIDOC week celebrations. Overrun with children on school holidays. Most of the event was directed at the kids, so not particularly interesting for me. The gardens themselves deserve six stars.
Great experience with overseas guests. Barrie was a terrific guide for the Snapshots Of Australia tour, very knowledgeable on Australian native flora. A bargain at ~ $7 for an hour guided tour of the Australian Garden. Also great 2km walk through bushland and wetland's established tracks for birdwatching etc.
What a gem of a garden that has taken experts to design such a beautiful serene utopia for everyone to enjoy . Also has a connecting bush track that leads to open fields, swamps, playground picnic area and small lakes that have many birds to see amd listen too. Wish this was in my town. The cafe has meals you want to come back for and great coffee with staff that are soooo happy friendly.. go enjoy this place people
The landscaping in the gardens is absolutely stunning. An incredible amount of work and thought has clearly gone into making the various areas flow into each other and creating beautiful displays. Good signage and information throughout, particularly labels amongst the trees and plants to help you identify the different species. It gets quite busy around midday. The earlier the better so you can have the place to yourself for a little while.
Lots of efferent went into building the gardens! Be careful as you share walking paths with snakes there, but we haven't seen any. Limited sitting available in BBQ areas, but the BBQs themselves are nice and clean, enjoyable experience!
Wow! What an amazing place. Has to be one of Melbourne's best kept secrets. I would highly recommend to anyone who's interested in Australian flora or gardening in general. Great for littles ones.
Very Australian garden. Obviously well funded For me it lacks the charm of the city botanical gardens bit still definitely worth a half day. I'm sure it will nature with age.
