I was more interested in the walking trails, which are a bit too established and more like roads. There are some reasonable options with mild undulations and diverse scrub and open fields. Surprisingly there was a lot of wild life with echidnas, bandicoots and wallabies. The smell from the local landfill did waft in around some areas and spoilt an otherwise nice walk. I'll return, but it's not high on the list for great walks. Also, no leashed dogs allowed seemed a bit restrictive.
Serene. Calming. Thoughtful design. Great place to 'just "be" at one with the earth and oneseld'. Spiritual.
Awesome place to take the family. Something for everyone! Can easily spend the whole day exploring, or visit numerous times to appreciate everything.
You don't realise how big this place is until you're there. Stunning gardens, gorgeous play areas. I gave 4 stars because I feel like along the walking tracks there should be more water facilities.
Awesome weekend short trip get away. Lots of beautiful trees and nice walkways and picnic areas. Beware of snakes. Many spotted here.
Wonderful garden loved the informative bus tour will go back soon
Beautifully designed and presented. Well worth a spending a couple of hours walking arround and enjoying.
The reason I love living in Cranbourne, beautiful fauna and flora, walking and riding tracks great to calm you down and exercise bbq areas in the new and old sections.overall amazing if you love nature or somewhere different
Beautiful scenery and walks, plenty of quality play equipment for kids, varied souvenir shop, good coffee at the cafe though catering for special diets could be expanded. Great place to spend a sunny afternoon and let the kids wear themselves out.
Played pokemon go. Free entry. Good quiet spots for a session.
We loved the natural feel of the gardens and picnic area.
Fabulous day, fabulous food, fabulous staff, fabulous garden.
Free to enter. Demo gardens for arrid areas. Good cafe and gift shop. Disabled access
Fantastic. Fun for the whole family. Beautiful scenery.
Absolutely beautiful and incredible gardens. Bring a picnic or food for a bbq after the walk around the gardens.
Beautiful Gardens, watched a wild life rescue guy catch a tiger snake from the kiosk the color was beautiful
I recommend the Gondwana forest part. Plus there's snakes everywhere which is entertaining!
A perfect mix of constructed and natural landscape.
Probably the best native botanical garden I've seen. They've quite obviously spent a lot on the design and landscaping. One of the signs said it took 18 years to design & construct. The interpretive signage is excellent, with pointers for your home garden. This place is excellent, when quiet, to reflect on the simple majesty of the Australian landscape. Keep away from pestilential groups (that seem to follow you) with children that you can hear for a mile. There are at least 2 cafes that I saw. The gift shop has tasteful & quality goods. Pricey, not unexpected.
If you're expecting to see beautiful plants, trees, flowers and a lot of greenery, this is not the place. There's not much to see or do here.
It's too bad though, because there's a lot of potential for this place.
If they just add a couple of big objet d'art on the wide grassy areas for attraction, plant more vibrant flowers (really lots more), remove all those tall spear grass and replace them with better looking (greener) shrubs, and just try and make everything more greener then this place will be a lot better.
In know it's free and maintenance is hard. But I'd rather pay a fee if the place that I'm going to actually deserves it. As of now, it's not worth the trip even if it was free entrance.
What a beautifull place and right at our door step too ( not literaly). Will be back soon.
One of the best garden I have ever seen.
Well maintained, beautiful flowers and plants, wildlife and lots of stunning places to rest and enjoy the scenery
Interestingly very different to the standard Botanic gardens we are used too.
Amazing and breathtaking views and just a great place to vist
Great place to walk around with a good cafe, great for kids
Great place for a walk and anyone interested in flora and fauna
Beautiful place full of flora and fauna. Well maintained. Check it out!
Wow amazing. My first visit to this part of Victoria to a place that has been recommended for years. Authentic and beautiful Australian gardens full of Australian flora. Despite the 45 degree summer day it was an unforgettable visit.
We all had a great day. Took a picnic lunch with us. While we we sitting & eating some of my munchkins were off playing on the ground when we noticed this GROUSE little wallaby just over from the playground, slightly behind it. 1 of my sons was right at the top of the climbing tower & had such a FANTABULOUS view. After lunch we all then went for a walk to check out the look out. & GEEZ WHAT A WICKED SIGHT THE VIEW FROM UP THERE WAS... WOW...
Beautiful place, unfortunately we visited when the temperature was 40 degrees Celsius, and it was very windy. Taking away from the experience
These gardens have to be experienced to be believed. It would be an injustice to spend only a couple of hours here. I think we spent around 4-5 hours. The photos tell much of the story. Try to choose a sunny day to enjoy it at it's best.
Great place to spend the day with your family, beautiful gardens and shows the amazing diversity of our beautiful country
Beautiful day out for all. Coffee shop busy but didn't wait long. Gift shop over priced .
Hard to find your way around here no maps available
One pf the best botanical garden. Just loved it and enjoyed the time.
Beautiful scrubbery and landscape for a group walk or just to chill out.
Nice beautiful garden with loads of different characters in different areas.
Plenty to see, a great day out on a warm day, the kids can wade in the water.
Always something to see here. Amazing to have this beautiful area so close to home.
It s a fantastic place to explore with family and friends. I m amazed by the expansive layout of gardens and variety of native plants and botanicals. Great to have spent time here over Melbourne Cup weekend.
