The stringy bark picnic areas are nice and secluded. The barbecues are clean and there are occasional bandicoots that snoop around. They are looking for food, because other visitors gave them some. I'll take this chance to remind you NOT TO FEED the wildlife

Lovely place to visit. All accessible with both a ramp and a lift if needed. Fun exploration for kids off all ages! Cafes and toilets reasonably placed around the gardens. No dogs allowed here.

Fantastic service from visitor centre staff, they even supplied us with a good dollop of suncream! Just arrived from UK and forgot to buy it! Cafe staff very busy but very cheerful. Thank you to Peter, the train driver, for a very informative and interesting journey round the gardens. Great day out.

Awsome

I write this review after I have visited the Uluru...

I write this review after I have visited the Uluru, the Olgas, and other parts of Central Australia.

I can now provide an unbiased and true assessment of the garden. I have to give 10 out of 10 to the designers of the garden. This is a replica of the red centre of Australia, and many plants are genuinely found in the arid areas.

This is the third time I visit this garden, and every time I am awed by the stunning master piece of Red Centre after I go through the the entrance. I have seen pictures and photos of Central Australia, with barren surrounding, dotted with some low ball-shape plants that can survive in arid land. The colour of the soil is painted very rich red like iron oxide.

What is on display is a like a mega large screen, but depicting the real scale-down version of Red Centre.

As I explore further, I come to a home garden , with wall of a room facing the walking path, having a window ideal for a photo shoot. A friend s daughter held her wedding at the garden, and the young couple stood behind the window, had a great romantic photo taken, framed by the the window.

The water feature and a inlet lake complimented the arid, harsh outback scene as a welcome relief.

There is a section with some weird looking trees, and trees with large bases. There are NOT artificial nor manmade. The are real and can be found in Central Australia.

Then there is a rock garden. There are some very gigantic boulders. Once again, these are as real as what I saw in some parts of the Outback or bays in Australia.

Words cannot do justice to this magnificent garden. Viewing is believing!

Best of all, entry is free.

Visited this lovely australian garden recently, we did a self-walking tour which is free and took us around an hour for the whole experience. Loved the plants selection, adore the landscape architecture details and appreciate it. Must visit! And will be visiting again definitely. Nice stuff......

For a free entry, this is magnificent. The gardens are now mature and it is really pleasant to walk around. The cafe is great also. Gift shop specializes in Australian stuff.

Note that you need to pay to ride the trolley car around.

Designed by tcl. Very nice regional hang out place with kids and dogs. 1 Hour drive from Melbourne. Very nice Australian native garden. Award winning design. Although this place is not shady enough, time will establish these plants. Be aware of snakes at the western part. Highly recommended.

Love the diversity and places to contemplate this time we took the train and got to see and the commentary was entertaining and informative. Even a 35C day there were coolish places to sit and engage with nature and paddle in the creek

A great place to visit and increase your knowledge of Australian plants. The cafe is a good way to refresh yourself after your adventure around the garden. The layout is inspiring.

Large garden with local greens + cool modern landscape. Crappy cafe with over priced food, $22 for tasteless fish and chip, taste obvious they are from the frozen packs. Bring your own food would be wiser

There's plenty of parking, clean toilets, a botanical souvenir shop & cafe. The gardens r free, but personalised tours cost apprx $11. The grounds r well organised grouping plants by region & climate (eg, from the desert) or by concept (eg, growing natives in the limited space of city environs). It's a great place 4 a walk &/or picnic.

Love this place! Nice floral displays and greenery and a much bigger place than I thought! They have some very weird and wonderful plants and there is a coffee van that makes delicious coffee

Nice place to take kids. The entrance gate is far from the location shown on the map. Focus on the red desert near the car park, then you'll reach the visitor center. The kids explorer was an interesting ride. The park has a place with stones with water running every 10 or so minutes. The kids loved it.

This place is amazing! Free entry to a large and diverse garden that has been designed to be an enjoyable experience for all. We went on a weekday where it was pretty quiet, great for spotting wildlife on the many walking trails around the gardens.

Great place to spend the day walking around and looking at Australian fauna. And its free as well. Some cool bush tracks around provide a more challenging walk where your rewarded with a play ground and bbq area as well as a look out further up the hill. Great little treasure in the Casey area.

Very impressive! Had a great first visit, some truly magnificent plants in a wonderful sculptural vista. Staff were friendly, well informed and the plant expertise delivered simply to the novice gardner (me). We will be back.

I have mainly visited these gardens to date with my work (an aged care provider). The Royal Botanic Gardens are a haven & not just for plant lovers! The onsite cafe is also great value. All the staff & volunteers are cheerful, approachable and very knowledgeable. I recommend the onsite bus tour as the garden is very big. The health and variety of Australian plants are truly amazing. It is well worth a visit!

Cranbourne botanical gardens is a fantastic place for families and kids. Plenty of open spaces, picnic areas, playground and water bodies. My kids loved walking in the rockpool waterway. The river walk is a pleasant experience as well. There are plenty of display gardens with unique designs. You need a whole day to enjoy it and still you might have to come a couple of times again to fully cover it.
Overall, a stunningly beautiful garden which is free and very close especially to people from South East Melbourne. Thoroughly enjoyed it and would come again.

I love strolling around the gardens on a beautiful sunny day, either on a tour or by yourself. A good variety of different gardens to see . Did not dine in the cafe so can't review the meals or service

The gardens are beautiful, but the lady at the front desk was so rude to my friend but me also, my 3 year old fell and grazed both knees and needed bandages and she was so rude about it. Telling us how to speak like we weren't being polite enough to. Her attitude was disgusting and the last thing I needed to deal with while being heavily pregnant with a screaming 4 year old.
