Been here for 5+ years. This year was the only miss with being given an incorrect key for our room forcing our tired bodies back down to the lobby. Need to bring back the promos for free buffets. Our room was quite old this time. It was room 458. Our past rooms were wonderful. Not sure what happened this time. Very noisy as well with hammer type construction sounds.

Even though we were not allowed in the pool at certain times due to construction and we were instructed to exit the pool due to "thunder clouds" at one point it was still a great time to spend with the kiddo ( even though the mechanical bull and a few of his favorite games being out of service :( ) we still manged not to let the rain ruin our parade! The rain was a much better experience than last years heat visit! It gave me and the kiddo the chance (excuse to stay in the room ) to play poker and 21.The room was clean! Went on the the free promotion for Aug 2017 were I got 2 nights FREE!! unfortunately I booked too late so I only got one night free.***this year apparently the "owners" do not allow water balls in the pool anymore. ("that sucked! " -kids point of view) Still it was a great time. Also. this resort is very close to fast food and the river walk! The river walk is a must see and plan to spend 2-3 hours, peace and water! NO ELECTRONICS!!! LOL

Easy to check in and everyone was very friendly. The room was comfortable and clean. Also the view was awesome. Went for a Toto concert and staying here was not a disappointment. Nice stay.

The Sports Book has a good setup, One main screen and multiple smaller ones around that. It's very easy to see the live in game lines coming across the board and it being a William Hill book presents some good opportunities up front on the parlay cards.

Very happy with my stay the staff was very friendly and very helpful the accommodations where excellence -
Today the slot machines and tables we're in a good mood you can hear bells and whistles throughout the casino indicating to me that jackpots were being paid out - on a scale of 1 to 10 I would give GSR a 9 - I might that some of the people who work in the buffet are some of the most unhappy employees in the casino but in all honesty not all I say about 40% of them are unhappy I did have a server in the morning by the name of Miguel who was excellent but with the exception of the restaurant my stay was very enjoyable

I highly recommend GSR for families and couples. My husband and I are locals, so we ve been to a few of the places here and GSR has done some of the best work making the hotel comfortable and the actual resort a vacation spot.

We decided to celebrate our anniversary here, and the pool was warm, and they had awesome music playing and the bar hopping. Great service overall there. The room was just amazing. We paid a little extra than what we had planned because of last minute changes to our reservation but it was worth it. We stayed in the king suite at The A and it was really a suite. Everything is renovated and in new condition. We could have brought our kids and had more than enough room.

Of course we had to gamble and have a few of the complimentary drinks as well. I got a daiquiri that was dangerously delicious.

The only thing I would complain about was the steak house. We ve been to almost every steakhouse in Reno, and there are some real good ones, but Charlie Palmer is not one of them. First of all, everything is a-la-cart. I feel if I m spending $50 on a steak, it should have some sides. But what bothered me the most was the atmosphere. For a steak house, it was NOT romantic. It basically looked like a cafe and i felt over dressed. But for two steaks and one side we got to share it was $110!!! I spend $80 at another steakhouse and we get salad, drinks, two sides, and a steak... and the dim lighting makes it super romantic. That is NOT Charlie Palmer. Service was good though. The bread before the meal was good, and the dessert they gave us for our anniversary was also really delicious, but the actual steak made me angry. First of all, I ordered a medium Filet Mignon. When I got it, it was fairly rare. I can tolerate that fine if there s not a lot of blood but there was just too much. So, i sent it back and I feel the chef must have been offended or something because I got it back and it was basically burnt on the outside and medium rare on the inside. Again - $47 steak here. I just ate it. Honestly I just wanted to leave with the poor atmosphere.

So overall, great resort, highly recommend, but don t go to the steak house! Cheers !

I have to say that among the GSR amenities and dining options and choices for gaming are too notch. The rooms and rates are unbeatable but above all the customer service that I received while I was therewas remarkable and I can honestly say I will never forget and will always be grateful four a woman specifically who works in registration department (debbie) I won't go into detail about the accommodations made for me and my two children but the care and compassion that was shown to me by somebody I had never met face-to-face was more that I had experienced in years

I have been coming here since it was The Hilton. Love the remodeling that has been done. I love the gambling machines, they are always up to date. The variety of food, drinks, and entertainment is beyond what I expect. Thank you for your great service and always making me feel welcomed.

What a great landing place to find during our kids volleyball tournament. Very nice rooms and restaurants. The arrival service was very helpful for our family that was staying for 5 nights. We appreciated the care during arrival and luggage delivery. Very nice touch to have complementary valet as well. We all enjoyed the pool and the cabana package was well worth the money. Look forward to coming back.

Can't say much about it just went to the Brett Floyd concert that was good. Didn't do any wandering around just listened to good music nice venue seats comfortable the floor had enough sloop and the seats are offset by rows so you had a food view

This place was pretty awesome! not sure how efficient the lifeguards were my grandson split his chin open on the side of the pool right in front of the life he start crying jumped out holding his chin running to find as which we were over by the hot tubs blood running down his chin and no one stopped him! Then when I went to report it everyone was on top of it which was very helpful! The other problem was that both the hot tubs were filled with kids not enough room for adults to get in and relax

Great resort and casino located just minutes from the airport. I've been coming out to the GSR for the past 5 years to attend art conventions and have never been disappointed. Newly renovated pool and some rooms, lots of food options in the hotel and a Walmart in walking distance for buying everything else you may need for a weekend.

Location was great being near the airport. Room was ok. The door handle to the bathroom was broke and the lower light fixtures in the bathroom blew out. I ate at the buffet for dinner and it was just ok. The rice was overcooked and the iced tea didn't taste that good. Having a Starbucks in the building was great and the cafe next too it was good too.

Fun place for locals and tourists. It has everything inside the resort, including a bowling alley, movie theatre, spa, and great stores to shop in. It gets really crowded on the weekends, but it's definitely a fun place to be.

I visited for a convention. In that context, the resort has been wonderfully accommodating. There are complimentary shuttles from the airport which I utilized, so I cannot comment on parking. The resort has a casino floor on a level with enough outside light to actually know what time of day it is. Mostly slots and other machines. A few poker tables, but primarily machines. If you just want a good casino, this isn't going to amaze. Surprisingly, there is a lot of family-friendly things to do. There's an arcade with laser tag for kids, a spa, and enough restaurants that you likely won't need to leave the resort for food unless you decide you really want to hunt down a good deal (The Grand Cafe in the resort charges $5.50 for a "Small Cup of Fruit" that may have actually been measured in a measuring cup). The food is good, but there is also a Walmart in walking distance which is great for stocking up your mini fridge or just getting some of your own alcohol if you so choose. The staff has been incredibly kind. Given that they are tolerating a large quantity of people, it's great to feel so welcomed by the staff. From the front desk to housekeeping, everyone seemed happy to help, and many seemed outright jovial. I would say there is just enough to do to make a weekend worthwhile, which is pretty nice for never having to leave the resort.

Free shuttle from airport to hotel every 15 to 30 minutes depending on traffic.
Wait time to check is usualky very long because there is not enough staff. As I stood in line with 10 other people I called the hotel to complain that only one person was at the counter; within 10-15 minutes more staff came to assist with check-in.
Rooms are large and clean. Rooms do not have carpet which is a plus. Beds are comfortable. Hit or miss whether your room would have a mini refrigerator or not. No microwave. Rooms are cleaned daily.
Great place for families with kids. Adults can gamble, see concerts, comedy acts, and dance at a club and never leave the property. Kids can go to lower level and swim, bowl, see a movie ($4.00), arcade, in-door golf, and pool room.
You may also shop for clothes, shoes and have a massage.
Plenty of restaurants on-site to choose from to eat. Buffet, Starbucks, fast food, sit down, and more.

Hotel was nice. Restaurants were very good, especially the cafe. My gripe is there extra $50 per day for resort fee. It is totally a RIP off. I recommend that just tell you the room fee up front, and then the customer can decide to stay or find a more budget friendly hotel. My business trip cost me an additional $200 for a resort fee, and I received nothing more than items that come standard with any national hotels.

It's a *lot* bigger than you expect, especially when you realize there's a whole second floor below the main casino.
There's live theater
A cheap movie theater
Bowling
Escape Room
Huge pool
Large hotel
Large casino
Stores/shopping
Bunch of food options, including a very popular buffet.
Huge parking, valet is available.
Out front there's go carts and outdoor "rides"
Out back there's an "Aquatic Golf Driving Range"
I didn't stay in the hotel so can't say what the rooms are like.

It was a real shame that we couldn't even enjoy a good drink before gaming without being hassled about wearing a mask unless "actively drinking"? I understand that they have a job to do, but, really? Reminding us 5 times in an hour during date night, not cool! Took our money elsewhere!! Not the casino experience it used to be!

I really love staying at the GSR but the pool is public they let anybody in, they charge ten bucks to get into the pool if you're not a hotel guest and then those people let their friends in the back gate. They really need to work on that. Should be a reserved area for hotel guests. Or really it should be for hotel guests only.

We didn't actually stay at this hotel but our family did. The amount of amenities this place has to offer is amazing. Almost everything you could possibly want or do is located inside the hotel.

Okay, so there is a lot to do here, which is great for families and kids, but I was unimpressed by several things. The valet process is chaotic. The Bell hop process is not helpful. The rooms are very dark and not as clean as I would like. I hate to say it but I'm pretty sure I got bit on my head from sleeping here. The bedsheets were not tucked properly so mattress was exposed- this totally grossed me out for some reason. There was a wrapped on the floor also that my son picked up from previous tennant which also made me uneasy. On the positive side there is bowling, theater, arcade, and eateries right on the property so that is nice. There is also an outdoor pool area which seems huge but still not quite adequate for the massive property. It also looked like they have an ice rink there which I assume is open in the winter months. I really would have loved to give this place a higher rating for the amenities but I was just underwhelmed with the rooms and service.

I will never ever stay here again and I would recommend everyone stay away. I only booked here because the hotel where my conference was being held was already booked out and it was recommended by a coworker. My husband tried to arrange a nice surprise of chocolate to get delivered to my room (which he pre-paid for) never came and when he called they said they didn t deliver it so I went to the front desk and they told me there wasn t anything there for me to pick up. There is a giant hole where the microwave is supposed to be so they can try to force you into buying food, well guess what I m not eating here because even the non-smoking areas have people smoking in them and stink. The fitness center is sub-par, it s a few old machines, some free weights and a bunch of mirrors. The only nice thing about it was the amount of mirrors and the free weights. The valet parking still takes your keys even when you are in the unloading lane, the only option if you don t like/trust valet parking is to park in the parking lot next to the theatre and walk with all your luggage. People run screaming down the halls at night as well, so if you thought you could get any sleep, think again because you ll be up all night trying to stuff pillows over your ears. The front desk lady was nice when I was checking in though, but couldn t tell me if there was a discount for Nevada residents. The resort overall is somewhat run down. It seems like it used to be very nice but is now bordering on old rundown and mediocre. The area is super sketchy too, I ve never been this paranoid about someone breaking into my car before, and I check on it constantly. They also apparently ignore the do not disturb door hangers to check on guests every 48 hours, which I suppose is good, but if you have to check to make sure guests are safe what does that say about the setting?!? It s slightly alarming. So to sum it all up, Od stay away and I really wish I had just gone with Airbnb like some of the other people I ve talked to at the conference.

I love visiting the GSR. It is clean and friendly. The slot games are enjoyable and we win more then we lose. The dining varieties are good. The buffet and cantina are very affordable and resonable.

We had an awesome experience and stay at GSR. What a great venue. I was looking at it for future meetings and conferences and was impressed with the size and flexibility of the facilities and the way the family can stay and enjoy the resort while you are attending a collocated conference or meeting.

The pool, casino, spa are fabulous and the food in the restaurants is world class. Close to the mountains and an easy day trip to Lake Tahoe for four season enjoyment.

The Grand Sierra Theatre is a beautiful venue and hosts some world class entertainment. We are heading back to see Diana Krall. Can t wait! Thanks!

Casino was average, the buffet was poor. Tried lamb kabobs were overcooked and tough as leather. Ribs had some much pepper rub they were too hot to eat. The "seafood" station is just a big bowl of shrimp cocktail. Would have rated it a 3, but the staff was extra pleasant

We like this place. Floor plan is big; rooms are reasonable. Pool is above average. Buffet is reasonable and not too expensive.
Lots of extra things to do here like bowl or see a movie. Gaming is gaming so as long as you keep that in mind simply enjoy yourself.

Everything was wonderful. My husband had a 3 day conference so I tagged along with him. I didn't even have to leave! Between all of the restaurants, shopping, bowling, movie theater, amazing pool and hot tubs & of course casino, I had a great time! All the staff was friendly & the room was clean every day when I got back to my room!

We attended a christmas program Siamsa, in the grand theater. The program was great, but the sound system is poor needs upgrading. Too much distortion, and sound cues were off when people were performing. The screens were low definition, which is disappointing, considering that hi-def is available now. The theater was clean and the seats are comfortable. The employees were nice and helpful.

Had some issues with our stay and upon reporting it, was given an email to message. Sent 3 messages with our issues and never received a response at all. Poor customer service . The issues were a dirty bathroom floor, no bath mat to stay off said dirty floor, no advertised free waters in our room, and housekeeping tried to barge in our room on day of checkout at 8 am! (Used a key card to open the door...luckily we had the lock on.) We were still in bed! They have a system that says we had not checked out yet. I think these were issues that needed to be addressed and I did not get any response, not even a sorry. I expected more from a nice resort that charges what they do for their rooms. I will stay elsewhere next time .

Nice rooms, solid value. Great system to pull cigarette smoke out of the gambling areas so you don't really even smell it walking by. Lots to do on the property. I mean a lot to do.

Pool, bowling, gambling, go carts, shopping, arcade, cinema...

But the clientele leans toward sad Vegas.

One example:
We literally saw a young woman chewing skin off her toes by the pool. WTF?

Gangster tip: hang at the 21 and over pool to float above the madness below.

I am a Honorably Discharged US NAVY HOSPITAL CORPSMAN. I have never been so disrespected as I have been at my outings to these local casinos. GSR , CIRCUS CIRCUS , SILVER LEGACY. Just to name a few. Doty's is probably the worst one. From racial slurs to economic prejudice from the employees and security. I cant

Lines in cafes were long. No mini fridge or safes in rooms. Hot tub was only available in spa for an additional charge. All in all I was rather unimpressed with "Renos best".

Gaming floors however were rather nice and new. Nice mix of mechanical reel and video slots. Would have liked to see more card tables though.

Service sucks, I could sit at the machines for hours and never get asked if I wanted a drink. And machines there really don't seem to pay out. Of course they must but in my experience I've never left there with any money. House usually wins all at GSR. One thing I do like about this casino is the multiple activities there are to do there so it's a good family spot in town. They have a movie theater, golf driving range, bowling alley, arcade, go-cart racing, even bungee jumping. So that's why they get the 3 stars.

We visited the bowling alley and it was ultimately a wonderful experience! The pizza was great and it wasn't too crowded so we were able to just walk in and get a couple games, service was great! The shoes were a bit worn down.

We went to the cafe for lunch. The food was good and the service was fast and really friendly. The food was also reasonably priced. I think it ended up being around 30 dollars for two people and we both left with full bellies. We were also able to use our comps to help pay for our meal
