Very nice area, clean rooms, friendly staff, great beach we really liked it. In any case, work on the children's pool would have to be totally isolated and boring. Even a pool for adults is not enough for me but otherwise a top hotel.
One of the top resorts we have ever been to! We had a fantastic stay at the Renaissance Phuket. Service, room, facilities, food/drinks, everything was a 10/10 experience. I would highly recommend this hotel if you are looking for a relaxing and luxurious vacation. Get ready to be pampered!
Check in
We arrived at the hotel in a taxi, and were quickly greeted by hotel staff that took our luggage and guided us to the beautiful open-air lobby. The receptionist welcomed us, and brought us over to have a seat at the sofa. We were presented with a welcome drink and a towel to cool off from the hot Thailand weather, while the staff processed our check-in. The manager also came to greet us, and let us know to contact him if there were any questions or issues. Once the check-in was complete, we were brought to our room with a quick golf-cart ride.
Room
We booked a regular level room, but were upgraded to a garden villa instead. The villa was absolutely beautiful, and very spacious in both outdoor and indoor space. The villa was fenced off with 8 ft tall concrete walls all around, and was extremely private. It featured a beautiful private garden, and a pool that was large enough to swim in. The villa felt even larger than stated as it had high vaulted ceilings, and was surrounded by large windows that looked into the private garden. The bathroom was also impressive. It had a large bathtub that could ve easily fitted 5 people inside. On the other end was a walk in rainfall shower, with glass enclosure and a window that looked into another small garden.
Property
As soon as we dropped off our luggage at the room, we headed out to explore the hotel grounds. The hotel was situated right on the beach, which stretched on for miles on both ends, as far as the eye can see. The beach was quite wide, and was situated on a slope. The sand itself was not the greatest, as the sand at this location was on the rougher side. The waves were rough while we were there, and so the water was not clear as the waves kicked up a lot of sand. Overall we really liked how private the location was, despite the less than ideal sand.
This hotel also had an exceptional fitness center. There was every piece of equipment that I need and even more that I didn t need. There were a variety of free weights, machines, cables, even a squat rack and several barbells! We were very impressed.
Service
Overall service was phenomenal. The staffs at this resort are very friendly, and went out of their way to help us every time. Whenever we needed something there was always someone nearby willing to help. Despite the staff presence, the service was never too intrusive to the point of annoying like at some other resorts. The most memorable moment was during dinner at the Thai restaurant. We asked the server to help us take a picture. He took several pictures from different angles, then proceeds to go outside the restaurant, so he can snap a few more from outside looking back in! That is really going above, beyond, and outside!
Food
We are both huge foodies so came into the hotel with low expectations for food, since we don t expect an authentic experience being in a hotel owned by a western chain. Turns out we couldn t be more wrong! We were completely blown away by the quality of the cooking at this resort. The Thai restaurant had very authentic flavours. Highlights were the appetizer platter, stir-fried morning glory, and the mango sticky rice. Prices of course were high compared to the local standards, but still decent value compared to what you would have gotten elsewhere.
The breakfast buffet was excellent and way above our expectations. The spread was extensive, and had a large amount of stations that were staffed to prepare fresh food. There was a noodle station, fresh fruit and smoothie station, egg station, ice cream station etc etc. The highlight for us was the freshly made honey ham.

Beautiful, Big and spacious rooms. Staff were ready to help at any time of the day. The restaurant Takieng served among best Thai food I've taken in the past 5D4N of my stay in Phuket. Even if u don't intend to stay at Renaissance, please make a reservation for this restaurant especially for a special occasion. The only drawback of the hotel is that it is inaccessible from the main road and hard to access without a car
My 5th visit to phuket. This area isn't happening, but we travelled to stay in the resorts with our infant daughter. (6 nights here) The staff are all fantastic, simply can't fault them. Wonderful breakfast buffet, great kids area and infinity pool. High standard of the hotel, everyone seems proud to work there. Currents and waves makes it best to stay in the pool and stay off the beach, but the hotel can't be blamed for this. Food and beverage is overpriced, but this is an unfortunate fact in all 4/5* International resorts.

I stayed in pool villa ocean front for 2 nights. It was a wonderful time. When I stepped in the resort, the staff greeted me with a warm welcome. They greeted me with a butterfly pea water as a welcome drink. After that a bell boy drove me to the room next to the beach.
Room and ambience: Beautiful room. The facility is fully well-equipped. There is a small swimming pool in front of the room which has a sea view. The bathroom is spacious. The bathtub is huge. There are trees around the room. The ambience of the hotel is very natural.
Service: Every section in the hotel has great service, from the front desk, to bell boy. The staff at the restaurant is also nice. Housekeepers are friendly. They greeted hotel guests all the time. The cleaning is perfect. It makes me feel like I get the brand new room every time. Call center is great (I m not sure about her name, but I think her name is Lek .). She helped me all the time. She knew what I wanted. She also greeted me by my name which really impressed me.
Food: There was a wide range of breakfast. Everything is delicious, from Thai to Western food. The environment is nice. The food at Takieng restaurant is great as I ve heard. I want to go back again. I really like this place.
Overall: Impeccable. Unbeatable.

It is quite old here, we have visited many places, many stars, so we would like to review according to our experience. The room was ordinary. We found a room where the air conditioner is not cold. Therefore asked to change it again, the next night is better Who gets a distant room Here is a long walk Going up the stairs is a bit tired. Breakfast good variety but nothing is wow. But we would like to give full marks on the intentions of the employees. I think it is a good level, have a service mind, have a professional service. Have a quick job. In the bathroom, there are no necessary things immediately, such as a hair cap and cotton bud, have to call, usually we stay 5 stars, there will be everything, toothbrushes too, but here is not placed at all, must call in the bathroom, only shower cream and shampoo Massage cream just that. I think it's not a way of thinking about maintaining this level of quality, even at a sale because of the coronavirus poisoning. Overall we enjoyed our stay. The best part of the resort was the food surprisingly. We enjoyed every meal which is not always the case when we ve stayed in other resorts in the past. Service was very good in general. Beach is beautiful and the pool is nice with lots of spaces around for sunbathing. Lots of kids and families so be ready. The biggest disappointment was the lack of warning Re the NY celebration and the gigantic tent set up on NY eve. The tent took over the ocean view and was immediately deconstructed after the NY celebration with lots of banging at 2 am. The music was very loud and for those who didn t partake in the celebration, it was annoying. Feel like we lost a day of stay which is unfortunate. Our room was fine with a courtyard view.
On the first day of the settlement in Phuket, the gold member stayed in the villa room type. Also attached to the birthday cake (and candles), although the weather is not good, but the room is quite comfortable in the hotel, the bathroom is very large, there are two washstands. Compared with other Marriottes, the hotel's hinterland is relatively small and the location is relatively remote, suitable for those who want a good hotel. It is recommended to drive, and there are turtle villages nearby.
The resort is secluded and far away from rest of the world. Service could have been better.
We really enjoyed the Renaissance. We had the pleasure of staying in a beautiful villa with a private infinity plunge pool. Although there were a few minor issues with items in the room (for example, the outdoor shower head was corroded and didn't work properly) they were negligible. The thing that made the difference here was how great the staff is. Anytime we needed something, there was someone there to help but without being intrusive. Parking was free and easy, right next to the lobby. There is a steam room and jacuzzi in the men's locker room near the fitness center. While there is a spa at the hotel, we really enjoyed the massage stand next door on the grounds of Micky Monkey and watching the sunset while having every joint popped and snapped.

After 4 years we came to rest at this hotel again. This time we settled in a luxury villa with a private pool and green garden. What a bliss to wake up to the chirping of birds, open panoramic windows and enjoy the incredible sunshine!
We also went to the restaurants at the hotel - there was incredibly amazing food everywhere, I especially recommend morning glories and mango sticky rice.
By the way, we were surprised by the territory of the spa - it turns out that a cool dome with a decorative pool and a pond with fish is hidden, and the spa itself was very cool.
And, of course, I can't say about my favorite Mai Khao beach - deserted, wide, incredible!

Very nice and stylish resort on the seemingly endless Mai Khao beach - I stayed here 3 times already and keep coming back.
While significantly smaller than the neighboring JW Marriott, it's more modern in design. It also has a much larger share of private pool villas, which gives you a better chance for an upgrade, especially during low season.
It's located right on the beach but a bit further away from off-premise dining and shopping options. If you don't have a car, you can grab a free shuttle to the Turtle Mart shopping center.
The breakfast buffet is extensive and delicious, with egg station, noodle bar, and freshly made smoothies. The beach front Sandbox restaurant is a great option for a snack and beer or casual dinner. Decent pizza but weak drinks. The open air bar is perfect for a sundowner.
Service is excellent - they once kept the restaurant open for our late arrival. The property hosts events for kids, special food events, and has free fat tire bikes available. I wish they had Hobie Cats for rent as the JW does.
Only potential downside is the single, relatively small pool, which combined with a large percentage of families with small kids makes it tough to actually swim. I wish more families took their kids to the actual kids pool.
The property also heavily caters to Russian tourists (including kyrillic menus), which isn't a problem, but worth noting for some travellers.
The service is good, the front desk and the manager are warmly received, the waiter is very friendly; with the lover, the father and the mother-in-law come together, and the connected room is upgraded. The food is also delicious. There is also a welcome ceremony.
We just checked in today. I had seen the pictures of the property and selected this over the other Starwood/Marriott properties. We are a platinum member and have loved W Hongkong, Groverner house Dubai, St. Regis Abu Dhabi and the list goes on. But this for sure is my first and LAST Renaissance.
This is supposed to be a resort - a resort. The rooms are nothing like one. Random business hotels that we have stayed have better rooms. Such below average toilet amenities. We were three adults plus a toddler. Towels and toiletries were just for one. No fresh fruits in the room - we are in Thailand and you couldn't keep one piece of fruit. The rooms are like a above average three star property. The pool is so so average, like why would you have such a pool. Management- please have a look at the competition and learn!
The beach is good hence one star. Real bad luck since we were ok to pay and get ourselves upgraded to a better room in any of the starwood properties but apparently every room is booked. Guess I have to suck it up for 4 days and just enjoy the beach. Such a waste of a 6 hour flight. A staycation in Dubai would be so better, anyway - it is what is it. Management - please better up your property. This is Phuket and you a RESORT. Act like one.
We went to have dinner and celebrating birthday here, everything so good they made my day so special, all staff very polite and nice especially Khun Pattra, Khun Puen, Khun Farot, Khun Gotji, Khun Ness and Khun Mama for take care of us and thank you chef to made the delicious meal for us. Life is great! Never-ending enjoyment. So relaxing. Never need to leave, has It all at a good price. The staff are very helpful with glowing smiles. They will treat you like royalty. The grounds are very well kept. Truly amazing.
There was these cockroaches/ beetles on my porch and all over the walkways and when we complained the staff didn't seem to concerned about it. No 5 star hotel no matter the climate should be not content with this
Used to stay for the first time 5-6 years ago, very good, but now the standard has fallen, guests come to stay, park the car, wait for a long time in the summer. There was no staff to pick up the whole lobby, only one person sitting at the table. It has been our family yearly routine in the last 3 years to visit this warm and perfect resort!
This year we spent 6 days at the resort. The service is top notch, all the staffs are polite and able to speak English with us. The resort has everything you need for a beach and relaxing holiday - sun, sea, beach, huge pool, kids pool with slide, kids club with 4 to 5 activities a day, massage, spa, quality food and safe for kids to roam around!
My 2 gals were in the kids club most of the time enjoying the games and learning new things! And my Wife and myself could relax at the pool side.
We had great fun over the last 6 days!!!
On the last day, our flight was scheduled to depart at 8pm and we checked out at noon, we were able to continue to swim and took a nice shower at the gym. After that they hosted us in one large hospitality room with snacks, cakes, cookies, coffee, etc - great service.
The entire set up is just elegance while still having access to nature, a pool, and the beach. The food and drinks were delicious and the staff very helpful. I almost felt I was in the Caribbean. I went biking the first day and then did the island hoping, tigers, and snorkeling tours the next few days (separate packages).

The staff service level were the highest I've ever experienced. It's very welcoming and polite without going as far as to feel impersonal. Facilities of a regular 5 star, service of a 6 star without the feeling of being put on a pedestal. Would recommend.
Facilities and rooms were excellent. All staff were helpful and friendly. Located at the Northern end of phuket away from town which is fine if looking at spending plenty of time at the resort.

Staff are flawless, breakfast is the best around. If you are after a chill out holiday with not that many people about in early December.
The location is bad if you want to experience Phuket. Rent a scooter or car because taxis aren't cheap by the resort. If you want some good food in the evening with little cost, go to Kin Dee as the hotel restaurant by the beach is not what you expect for the money.
Facilities, services, both great. Because it is a place away from the city area, famous beaches and shopping malls, it is not suitable for people who want to go out. I stayed for 10 days, but I was looking forward to breakfast.
Rested together in late April, Villa 509 overlooking the sea. Calm, secluded rest. Everything is great, the territory, the beach, cleaning, food, polite staff, free bikes for the whole day. Pleasantly surprised board games in the room.

I loved my stay at the Renaissance Phuket Resort & Spa - from arriving till departing our 3 night stay went perfectly. Mai Khao beach was great to walk on and the water was so calm and pleasant to swim in. They have a pool to swim but just jump into the ocean its right there and calls to you.
We got upgraded to a Pool Villa which was a surprise and very pleasant one at that.
The one thing you should not miss is their breakfast, arguably the best in the South of Thailand, variety is amazing, taste is great and service perfect so don't miss it. The Sand Box also serves great cocktails and use quality spirits and their happy hour is great deal at buy one get one.
Vasco came to help check me out during our stay and i would like to give my thanks again to him and the team for making the stay amazing, i will surely visit again soon when the Covid pandemic round 3 in Thailand is under control.

Stayed for 3 days and 2 nights. The service staff is very good. Beautiful place Dine at the lantern restaurant and there is a bar for drinks by the sea. In the part of the spa, it is very well done personally.
The hotel is beautiful, private, the food at the lamp and the breakfast is delicious. Even though the lines are not many, they are allocated very well. As I have stayed in many chains, the staff here are very trendy, good service, impressed everyone. Since the front Cleaning staff Especially the dinner room And breakfast room Inquiry and service staff throughout The last day is a birthday, I still have a cake to blow, I am very happy. I think that next trip will have to stay here for a long time. I am planning to reserve a long stay for a month now. Because I really like it. Beautiful villa room, good weather, beautiful birds flying around and enjoying the beautiful trees, perfect garden decoration, very pleasant to live in. Really impressed See you for sure on your next trip.

The hotel is beautiful and the rooms are very modern and clean. The food is good and the beach is right behind the resort. It might be a bit busy at times so it took awhile for attendants to get you what you requested. Overall it has been a great experience.
Amazing hotel. Situated in a lovely location, like you are in a tropical paradise.Staff are delightful and are always happy to help. Hotel rooms are very luxurious and the best is very comfortable! Food at the hotel was delicious - at all the restaurants on site! I will definitely miss the breakfast, which is by far one of the best I have had (fresh fruit, freshly made to order fried eggs, and even noodle soup!) Would 100% come back!

Even though the beach was too steep and the waves were raging the day we stayed, the sunset was incomparable.
The room we stayed was well-equipped, pool was clean and chill, we were lucky enough to had our check out time extended so we could enjoy more in the hotel. Beach cuisine was vibrant in vibes with reasonable hotel-price. Likewise, the breakfast was incredibly various with excellent taste. (Bacons were so crispy I barely could stop)
The staffs were awesome at the check in with the attention to my birthdate even though I had stayed 2 weeks after my bd.
Find a variety of experiences Both the sea and the mountains, shady forests, large ponds and gardens, children will love the swimming pool and playground here. I really enjoyed the sand box experience here, more importantly, the price. Is the friendship of the employees

The wedding at the beach was the most boring thing ever. wedding ceremony was in the evening of 27th jan and was not handled in the best way. people who stay in the hotel have to suffer from the boring atmosphere ever and noone is trying to fix it. front office manager Lily as she said that i have to handle it with the wedding guests themselves as she has nothing to do being a "front office:"manager. she even raised her voice at me which is very irrespective towards to guests who pay money. being a hotelier i dont expect people talking this way as a manager and i would love to meet General manager to discuss the incident. as it doesnt mean that any front line staff can speak irrespectable to guests and this i dont think so in the marriott policy.

The Renaissance provides you all you will ever need. The staff is very polite. Breakfast is perfect with a large variaty of food.
Pro: Eventhough the hotel was fully occupied, there was air to breath, poolside and beach were available at all times.
Downside: beside the resort there is not much to do in the area. Phuket is a long drive. My advise would be, stay here for a maximum of 4-6 days.
