Renaissance Phuket Resort & Spa Review

The resort is absolutely luxurious with nice staff and the finest food. There is a lot of effort to stay there (to have to stay), but of course it costs.

The entire site seems to belong to Marriott, as there are several facilities there. One comes only with taxi or own mobile out and is then there "caught". It is compensated with a free shuttle in the surrounding area, but of course there are almost only Marriott offers. If you are on foot, you can stroll down the beach (left) to the Moo3 or take a shuttle to a couple of LocalThai street restaurants (which are a bit more expensive but also rich and good).

This hotel's naturally beautiful setting was only out matched by the beauty of the staff's attitude! I have traveled all over and have never been so impressed by a group of people doing their jobs!! Every department shines especially F&B and the folks at the gym!!! I have never written a review before but these guys inspired me!!! GREAT JOB ALL!!

I wanted to stay for 4 nights if I had a kids pool properly!
Strong point
There are many types of breakfast and quite high level!
Rooms are new and clean. There is a socket for USB charge. Amenity is fulfilling, too.
The customer service was also a chicken. Resort-like response.
The on-site restaurant is also delicious. I ate Thai food but it was quite authentic.
It is convenient because it is an evening flight because it is close to about 25 minutes (600 baht) by taxi from the airport.

Pros and Cons
There is nothing around. It takes about one hour by taxi to go to tourist attractions.
Kids pool is under renovation (18/8/8)

Remarks
A breakfast of 800 baht / person will be cheaper by negotiation. My family is 4 people (8 years old, 6 years old) and total 600 parts. It is somewhat difficult for those who have trouble negotiating in English.
There are few Japanese customers (there is no corresponding staff)

Staying at this Renaissance for two days, this Renaissance is a perfect place for everything from hardware facilities to personnel. There is absolutely no place to provoke it. It is the most comfortable hotel in our entire trip to Thailand! From the hotel facilities, personnel service attitude, to the overall atmosphere of the resort, it is impeccable. For me, it is the first hotel in Phuket. It will be the first choice to play in Phuket next time.

Super nice hotel with a great facility. The service is second to none and the entire crew is very accommodating. The food is really good. We only had breakfast and in the evenings we always ate in one of the available restaurants. We were an hour from Phuket Town, but that was the nice thing about it. It was very quiet around our facility. If we felt like it, we took a shuttle from the hotel to the city for just under 15 euros.
We will definitely come back next year.

Luxury hotel in the best style. The Sandbox is especially lovely by the pool. Great for kids with activities and a family friendly staff. The beach is nice and private feeling but the surf can be a bit rough at times.

Very nice stay. About an hour away from nearest city/town. Great relaxation away from the normal flood of tourist. You have the beach majority of the time to yourself here.

We stayed for 10 nights and it was absolutely amazing. The staff were wonderful, friendly and always accommodating to our requests. The kids club pool was under refurbishment which was disappointing but my neices and nephew loved the kids club itself and were happy swimming in the main pool. Overall, had an incredible experience there and would definitely recommend it.

Rooms were fantastic, view was amazing, service was great. Morning breakfast was chalked full of choices. It was an experience I would highly recommend!

Everything is excellent but of cos it comes with a price tag.

Investment:
The facility is very modern and architecturally very attractive. The spa in particular impresses with its sophisticated design. Everything is extremely clean and well maintained.

Room:
The rooms are wonderful. Comfortable beds, nice sanitary facilities, large showers and bathtubs in every room. Everything was very clean. I was particularly pleased that there was enough fresh water available. You can even find water bottles in the bathroom if you don't want to brush your teeth with the crane water.

service
The service was outstanding. I have rarely seen such attentive, friendly and helpful staff. Whether I had a small question or a big problem, I was always helped. Particularly noteworthy is the hotel's own nurse service. That is really priceless, for example if you have ruined your stomach on a tour.

All in all, it was an unforgettable stay and I can unreservedly recommend the Renaissance.

Comfortable hotel and well maintained rooms. Great restaurant area with pool and sea view. Their pizzas are good but we found the beach restaurant service erratic. Head waitress was efficient but aggressive whilst others avoided checking tables and were more interested in talking to each other. We had to return three cocktails that were poorly made and seemingly without any alcohol.

Quite simply the best hotel I have ever stayed in. We have stayed at the renaissance more than 7 times and it is starting to dangerously feel like home. The place is paradise and it is that way because of the absolutely wonderful staff that works there that makes this place magical. The good is great, had the best gym in any hotel I have been in, and the rooms are spacious and wonderful.

Quiet hotel among the busy Phuket buzz. Hotel is very well integrate and hidden into the nature make a beautiful beach front which only pine tree is visible. Great landscape, architecture, interior work which the hotel service and breakfast reach the same level. One remark is for the minibar service, should avoid the coconut plastic packaging and banana chip in plastic bag at all cost. Thats kill the charm of the place.

Spotlessly clean and impeccably maintained with an ace beach to walk along. But the real 5* service was from the staff.

Good atmosphere, beautiful hotel, clean, beautiful star ... But funny food taste .. Thai food, flavorful work developed far beyond .. Back to normal, Thai style, probably good because it uses good things ... Do not believe too much.

Fantastic in every way. I've never stayed at a better hotel, and I have been to plenty of places all around the world. A divine breakfast buffet with fresh mango, fresh juices, everything you could wish for and much more. While we were out housekeeping poured us baths with rose petals.

I'll give you an example of their outstanding service. I became ill and called the reception. 20 minutes later the hotel nurse knocked on my door and called the doctor after giving me a top notch health check. They fixed a taxi in no time and made sure I was given excellent medical care in Phuket Town.

I love this hotel, and I can praise it enough. For those who think it's expensive to stay there - it's well worth every single penny, trust me. Nevermind the price tag. You will not be disappointed. I know it's a five star hotel, but I give it seven stars without hesitation. Everything is 11/10.

The breakfast buffet was good, but I thought it was not as written by other people.

Loved this resort. The staff were friendly and the gym was clean. Their Thai restaurant was actually flavorful and brimming with Thai flair (think spice). Other Phuket resorts that I stayed in had Thai restaurants that were too bland.

Great buffet breakfast. The hotel itself is a little crowded, even in off season. The pool is quite small.

Service is great staff is friendly food is super. The beach at this resort is not so great for swimming so keep that in mind. But they have a nice pool. The pool is not too deep about 1.5 meters. Sand bar is great for meals and drinks. I'd recommend going for anyone who wants to relax and have a great time.

Beautiful hotel resort, great pool and gym facilities. Breakfast selection was superb. I stayed in the pool villa which was amazing.

Clean hotel with the standard of the Marriott group Emphasize the shade of the trees. There are not many angles for taking pictures. Breakfast served well, but not much variety. As a Canadian expat living on the island of Phuket for the past 20 years, my wife and I have had opportunity to experience many of the finer hotels in S.E. Asia, including The Oriental, Raffles, Banyan Tree, Twin Palms, etc.

Recently, I purchased a Spa Package (Revitalize Massage and Fresh Bath for 6,685 Baht incl disc) at the Renaissance Quan Spa in Phuket for my wife as a surprise gift for use will I was away at work in Abu Dhabi where I am employed as a pilot. When I purchased the gift voucher for my wife I had a brief conversation with the spa manager explaining what I wanted to purchase. The spa manager was very nice and arranged for a voucher to be posted to our home address in Phuket, where my wife received it several days latter.

Unfortunately, when my wife arrived for her requested scheduled appointment at 12:00 noon, she found herself waiting for almost 30 minutes despite having been told to be there at 12:00 noon "sharp" by the spa staff when she made her booking the day before.

While waiting for her spa treatment, my wife, who is also Thai, but with much darker skin color than most other Thai's, found herself being ignored and talked down to by the spa receptionist. My wife who is unfortunately accustomed to this in Thai society, found herself on the receiving end of a very unpleasant situation, being talked down to by a hotel staff member because of her darker skin color. She was suppose to have gone for a nice relaxing spa treatment, but found herself upset and angry, while waiting for almost 30 minutes for what was suppose to have been a very pleasant relaxing experience...... It wasn't.

Getting past the way my wife was treated by the desk staff, my wife said that the massage was good and that the masseuse knew what she was doing, but for some reason the spa did not provide the "Bath Package" for which I had also pre-paid. No explanation was given and the spa manager with whom I had previously talked with, was unfortunately not in the office that day.

Driving home from the hotel and spa, my wife phoned me providing me with all the details, adding that she would never go back to the Renaissance Quan Spa, because of the way she was treated by the staff.

The next gift voucher I buy her, will be for a return trip to Banyan Tree.

Rooms are excellent, service is really good as well, but in the expensive range. Vegetarian options are pretty minimal in restaurants, my only grouse with it.

Good resort just on the beach. Staff is courteous. Only con for me is that it doesn't serve much of Indian food. Hotel need to work upon the same considering the high number of Indian tourists visiting Phuket.

What a great place to stay! The resort is simply stunning, very clean and beautiful rooms. The staff is very friendly and helpful. When you stay here you will understand why everybody is raving about their breakfast, never had a breakfast like that before! The resort is not overcrowded like lots of other resorts in Phuket, it is close to the airport in a quieter area but there is still a lot to do. We got married at The Renaissance and were delighted with our choice, all our guests loved it as well. We can highly recommend the Renaissance.

Among the best hospitality experiences I've had, certainly in Thailand. The staff in the hotel is absolutely amazing, each and every person is helpful, polite, smiling and energetic. I've never encountered this before to this extent. Everyone also speaks great English and I've never had issues communicating.
The rooms are clean, facilities are well maintained and everything that's physical is excellent. This hotel was built in 2010 and things are quite new.
Management seems to be around at all times, making sure you're happy. I've seen the head cooks running around the breakfast area (which is amazing, by the way) each morning making sure people are happy and things run smoothly.
Another thing I'd like to call out is the Hospitality Room where you have great free food, air conditioning and couches to hang out at.
We had a very late flight and we had the room all to ourselves to wait at for 10 hours. It's the first time I've seen this (even in tens of other 5-star hotels I've stayed at) and it's extremely thoughtful.

Ah, in all my years travelling globally, this was the best stay I've had. Not the most luxurious hotel, nor the best value for money, nor the best service. Not the best in one thing, but the sum of parts exceeded 5 stars.

Pros:
- As a lowly silver Marriott Elite member, I wasn't expecting my booking of two normal Deluxe rooms to be upgraded to a 2 bedroom private pool villa! They only have one of these, and it was amazing. Next to the pool and beach, with sea views.
- Service was amazing. I'd stayed in the Anantara Vacation Club just before this, and the level of service from the staff was several steps higher, from check-in to check-out.
- Breakfast buffet was possibly the best I've ever had, globally. Loads of choices. Both Asian and Western dishes done to perfection. Lots of healthy options, including what looked like 10 different fresh juices available. And an incredible ice cream bar for breakfast... plus the service was excellent. Plates cleared as soon as you'd finished.
- Spa service was excellent, and the package of massage+scrub was well priced
- As a silver, gold, or platinum elite you get various discounts on F&B and Spa services, depending on your level
- Villas were modern in style, with great air-con and furniture. Very well maintained and housekeeping was great.
- Pool was big enough, and there's a separate kids pool so the main pool was usually quiet and enjoyable for adults.
- Lots of loungers and deckchairs at the pool and beach, so no need to fight for them. Great service, with ice cold water topped up constantly.
- The beach right in front was a beautiful stretch, probably the best stretch in the Mai Khao area and very clean.
- Free watersports equipment like kayaks and paddleboards.
- You can call for a golf buggy to bring you around the resort.
- There are regular shuttle buses to the Turtle Bay shops or Mai Khao plaza.

Cons:
- Lunch and dinner are expensive, at Sandbox or Takieng.
- Takieng decor and quality is great, but still expensive for what you get. Almost European prices.
- 2 bedroom pool villa is not one self-contained unit. To two bedrooms are above each other, and you have to walk up the stairs outside to get between them. The living room is also separate, so you have to walk outside again. Rather than just one big building. This might not be practical for some families.
- If there's an outdoor wedding going on, or the next door JW Marriott have a special night, then you will get loud music playing until about 10pm.
- It is a very isolated resort. Nothing else nearby, except other resorts, and some beach huts for massages/food/bar. I think you need to be prepared to either stay in the resort, rent a car, or pay a lot for taxis.
- Toiletries come in big shared bottles, instead of small private ones.

Overall, it is an excellent resort, and one I will definitely stay at again if I'm back in Phuket!

More than a hotel it is a paradise! It is close to the beach and next to the pool is a very nice and beautiful place, the employees are very attentive and ensure the comfort of the client, the breakfast is very varied and they have people cooking for you, the fruit is very varied and fresh, the children's pool has many activities for the little ones and tbn has a theme park inside the hotel for them, the hotel has a free bus that takes you and picks you up so you can visit the shopping area that is inside the complex and if not you want to go by bus tbn they have bicycles so you can enjoy the road, when you return from the bikes they give you a small wipe that is damp and very cold to cool off and a bottle of fresh water, they really take care of you and I want to highlight the attention that He gave us GOLF ... he was always aware of my partner and I, he is super attentive to everything you need. And try to help in everything.
At the reception there is a guy called Basque and he speaks Spanish.

We absolutely love The Renaissance! Incredibly warm, friendly. And welcoming staff.

Excellent option near the airport, wonderful breakfast. Beautiful architecture and attentive service. The sea, although beautiful, is rough, not suitable for children.

Check in wasn't as smooth as I thought. They messed up one of our booking with a single king size bed instead of two smaller size bed. The pool side restaurant has a lot of flies. You can't even eat there. The room wasn't as new as pictured. The only up side is that the resort is next to a very nice clean beach which is not crowded. The complimentary massage is great. So good that I bought another 90mins. Service in the resort was extremely slow and not attentive. They made mistakes a lot and everything they did seemed like their first time.

A bit far from city center but worth the trip, great place and highly recommended.

Loved my stay here. Big thumbs up. We had a rental car and took side trips out and about in the northern part of the island and part of Phang Nga. We stayed in a separate hotel in southern Phuket to see the sights down there. I would recommend others do the same since it is a bit of a haul from this hotel to the southern side.

It's a great place to stay. Property is well maintained. Staff is very helpful.
Great beach to spend time and relax. The breakfast buffet was great, the only thing that can be improved is increasing vegetarian items in breakfast buffet as well as in Restaurant.
The only downside of the resort is that it's very far from Phuket town and Patong Beach. You need to come 45km to do anything in town.

This hotel is just amazing!
This is a simply wonderful resort in its beauty and size.
Pros:
Spacious, large and wonderfully equipped rooms.
The hotel staff is great and helpful, also providing foreign residents who are fluent in the English language.
The attention to detail in every service the hotel provides is simply wonderful.
The hotel also provides a variety of activities for both adults and children. For example, we did a morning bike ride around a lake in the area.
The hotel's gym is equipped with state - of - the - art equipment and allows for a high level of training.
Breakfast left me speechless - without a doubt the best breakfast I have ever seen !!!
Disadvantages:
The hotel is located on Mai Khao Beach, which is very far from major attractions in Phuket.
As such, one can find oneself relatively "captive" of the hotel. The relatively good solution given by the hotel is a daytime shuttle to the eastern center located about 4 km outside the hotel (free of charge).
In conclusion, for a couple / family looking for a high level resort - there is nothing to hesitate at all. Hurry up and close this hotel!

The grounds are large and it is a resort hotel which was kind to baby friendly. The city is far, but it is not a distance that can not be reached in about an hour by asking for a taxi.

Equipped with a 5-star hotel. The service staff is very good. Everyone, every department, smiles and welcomes customers. Very impressed Beautiful comfortable room Beautiful place, clean Every point of the hotel is very clean. Variety breakfast There are a few disadvantages in the room. There is no injection line. And the beach front swimming pool is a bit small

Absolutely fantastic stay. We split our time between the Renaissance and Sri Panwa (for a wedding). For pure visuals and indulgence its hard to beat Sri Panwa, However, you would hope so for the cost!...But having said that we were actually happy to return to the Renaissance.

The layout and vibe for the hotel just feels more friendly and fun. It makes you want to be out and about enjoying the pools and the bars. The staff are amazing. Nothing is too much to ask.

We are looking forward to a stay in the future.

The only catch is that it is north of the airport and most Tourist "attractions" are south on the Island. But when a Taxi is 400Bht an hour. It doesn't cost that much to get around anyway.

Perhaps the best hospitality of any place in the world. I am picky and their execution was flawless.

I thought it may be too boring here and stayed for two days in the city center before coming here, which was not so relaxing and hotel not so great in all aspects. At the same price, this place is a couple of grades higher in terms of hotel experience. Standard type room is nothing too fancy but better food, better staff, better overall feeling. This is the place of choice for retreat and for family. Go to hotels in the city center only if you want party.

Many trees under the resort concept. Nice and big swimming pool.

The site is very nice and cozy, but in my opinion it has two major drawbacks ... 1) all or most of the hotel services are paid, and it is quite expensive in comparison with the prices in the area. 2) The beach is not very cozy, it does not invite to the bathroom. There are often hangovers and currents quite often.

I would not repeat at this hotel.

The Renaissance Phuket is a beautiful hotel outside of the craziness of the rest of Phuket. It sits on a long quiet beach with beautiful water. I spent days going between the beach, pool, and bar. It s truly a very relaxing setting. The breakfast buffet is worth a few hours of your time every morning. Make sure to set a reservation at the main restaurant as it can be difficult to find availability.

Very nice hotel! Everything is at hand. Breakfasts are stunning !!! The beach is sterile, every day they scatter clean sand, sifted. In the sea there is plankton, periodically burns the skin while swimming. Service is beyond praise. The staff is very polite and helpful. Relaxing in this hotel you feel like in paradise. I recommend this place!

A kid zone(also has a dino pool) provides parents with baby sitting options. very friendly staff. First resort,in my experience, to provide with free mini bar and free refill of mini bar everyday! A huge breakfast buffet in the morning with a vide verity of items from continental to american to asian specialties. Thai fruits are the best option! would definitely visit next year!
