Compared to Malaysia this is a very good hotel! We can feel the efforts made to satisfy both Asian and Western customers.
The staff always respond to your requests and go out of their way to satisfy you.
The breakfast buffet is impressive !!! And the evening one is also good.
Chinese restaurant is really good but a bit expensive compared to Malaysia.
The sports facilities are decent and will allow you to relax.
Finally the geographical location is excellent for golf players since they are located opposite

Room Interiors & amenities were fantastic.

Exterior paint of the hotel building, spoils the impression, not something expected out of a 5 star rated hotel.

One of the worst hotels I stayed at (.. and I travel a lot). From TV not working probably over issues in the room to overpriced in-room dining (for low quality, tasteless food) and so on. They do not even provide proper pool towels (look at the pictures); their pool towels looks like taken from a local brothel / short-time hotel. Disgusting..

Good location and Facilities: specifically the gym. Surrounded with lots of eateries within walking distance. Within 20 mins drive can easily access to nearby malls like Mid Valley, Ksl, Jusco, Citysquare, etc

Family wanted to go Legoland and I decided to stay in Renaissance Hotel instead of those nearer because of the accessibility to convenience store and food. A lot of food shops around the hotel, most of them serving good food. There's also self serve laundry and convenience shops nearby.

We managed to explore the gym and surprised that it's pretty well equipped. The machines looks like they are a newer models as it comes with touch screen and integrated hotel TV (not something you normally find in Malaysia although it's common in US).

Room was nice and comfortable. Just that the bathroom is visible from the room through a glass. There is a door on the side of the room but it cannot be locked.

The vegetarian meals ordered and prepared by Renaissance Hotel Johor Bahru is nice and refined. However, the waitress being influenced by the other customers, who was without reasonable basis and prior notice to the hotel/hosts.

In a ball night, the meatless dishes requested by the customers were replaced by the vegetarian meals . Due to the customers did not order in advance, the hotel management should not serving the vegetarian dishes as prepared to them.

In such instance, the decision made by Renaissance Hotel was unreasonable and it was causing vegetarian dishes were not made to the existing vegetarian customer. By serving vegetarian dishes to meatless-consumer even non-vegetatarian consumer was an action causing existing vegetarians had no vegetarian dishes. Are you going to ask vegetarians have some meats? It was ridiculous and it had given a bad impact because of the unconscionability action done by the management of the Renaissance Hotel Johor Bahru.

Hopefully the management takes note on this matter and the decision made by the waitresses shall be well checked and reported to supervisor in advance.

Thanks and regards.

I stayed here for three nights. The service is very good and the staff are always friendly. The buffet is simply awesome. A mix of East and west cuisine. If you are staying here, keep in mind that it is not close to downtown JB. The gym and the pool is 24 hr. Free Internet is only available in the public area) lobby) and not in your room. But you can register as a Marriott member (free) and get Internet in your room.

Stayed at this property for one night in December. We redeemed our SPG points.

Check in and check out was seamless and fast. Initially the booking to redeem points allowed only double beds but the staff was kind to provide us a room with a king bed instead.

The room was clean. Got a non-smoking floor and it was good, no cigarette smell. The bedsheets are nice and comfortable and the towels were fluffy as well. The sound proofing was good also, wasn t able to hear the neighbours.

Valet service was a disappointment.

Valet service was a disappointment.

1) Upon arrival have to wait more than 5 minutes for someone to attend to us, issue us a valet receipt.

2) Going back, they just pass our key and asked us to take our own car and the car was left under the sun when there are empty parking in front of the hotel lobby.

What the point of paying RM30 for a valet service?
