Buyer beware! This store sells quality products but has terrible cancellation and return policies. I ordered a chair at the end of December and was told it would ship in 1-2 days. In fact it shipped in 6 days and I didn't get a call from the shipping service about delivery for more than a week after it shipped - and after my spinal surgery!! I attempted numerous times on the phone and on email to cancel the order with a Relax the Back employee, only to be told that the chair had been loaded on the truck and there was nothing they could do to remove it - wiich is ridiculous. This chair traveled from CA to NJ and will now be traveling back, at great cost to me and great waste of fuel and time for the shipper. Don't bother with this company - stick with Amazon and get your chair in 2 days, regardless of where you live.

This was a very relaxing and enjoyable purchase experience. Store Manager Steve did a great job of educating us about the different options, and the history of how neutral posture chairs had developed. He answered all our questions, and made sure we tried out a range of products of the type we were looking for, rather than steering us strictly on cost. We look forward to returning.
The staff was very helpful. There were things I liked from one chair to another and we built a chair to order. I didn't make a decision at that time to order this chair. Six months later I went back to the store and decided to purchase and executive high back ergonomic office chair they had in the store. This chair is comfortable and has all the adjustments one needs to be comfortable at all times. Do like I did. I looked many places and set in many chairs prior to making my final decision.If you do the same you will more than likely purchase a chair from Relax the Back.

We decided to stop in because my wife has had back pain after giving birth (most mom s can attest) and after a 20 year military career, with 10 years flying helicopters, my back hurts plenty (many Army aviator s can attest).
By far, Nathan Ott, was one of the most engaged and courteous retail associates I ve ever had the pleasure of interacting with (a rare occurrence).
He didn t get a sale on the spot, but as we are in the market, he did a terrific job. He hit all the check marks in my opinion. He developed rapport with us, demonstrated his product knowledge, discussed with us the benefits of using the products, and engaged us by allowing us to try the items. He also showed us alternative items and he wasn t overly aggressive.
The Perfect Chair was super comfortable and so could definitely see myself falling asleep in it. To be honest, it would probably induce arguments on who gets to sleep on it. My wife would probably win that one. The inversion table was totally LEGIT! I ve only been on one once before and it freaked me out. This time I had a better understanding of how it worked and am seriously in the market for one, although $529 is a little too steep for me.
My only recommendation for Nathan would be to try and do a better job closing at the end. A simple What do you think? or Would you like to take one home? , or if Relax the Back offers payment plan, informing us of any installment type options would ve been awesome. Discussing how insurance could possibly help pay for items, which Nathan did, would also be helpful in making the sale.
As a prior retail associate myself, I can appreciate how hard it is to get a sale, and although we didn t leap today, Nathan did a great job of helping to keep Relax the Back in our minds as we move forward. Great job!
Always a pleasure to shop at this Relax the Back location. I Purchased a zero gravity recliner as a retirement gift to myself. Steve, as always, was informative and professional in his explanations of the various choices. I was not rushed and was able to make the right decision. The new chair is awesome. The delivery crew was on time and very careful with setup. This was a purchase that will give me years comfort and relaxation. I am sure I will see Steve again in the near future after my wife tries mine out.
Steve the manager was a wealth of information. I truly appreciated his knowledge and direction in terms of finding a better solution that I had come up with related to providing deep heat for my back.

I purchased an excellent leather desk chair from the Northwest Austin store at Research and Capitol of Texas Hwy back in 2007! The leather and general comfort of the chair is like new. Part of the pedestal was wearing out though, so I called to inquire. Steve called the manufacturer and they sent the replacement parts to the store without charge. Great store, great service and quality, and if you are among those who called the store pricey please read my post again!
I would buy from this store again and again. Excellent product and outstanding customer service. Steve the store manager was excellent to deal with. It's pricey but I have been through two spine surgeries and my chair was the bomb!
Online search indicates store sells products that they don't carry. Was looking for a part on a Lazyboy recliner and online indicated this store carried it specifically. Store doesn't sell Lazyboy products. I pointed this out to service person and he said "well that's an ad". Leaving me to wonder if he know what an ad is suppose to do.
I really love this store and the people who run it! I have purchased 3 Tempurpedic beds, a Lifeform chair, seat cushions, several travel neck cushions, multiple sets of sheets, a weird fiberglass hook for self-massaging your back (Don't laugh...it works great!) and lots of other stuff I have probably forgotten about. And while none of these items could be labeled "inexpensive", all of my purchases have proven to be worth every penny I've spent! I have had the adjustable beds for 10 years, and they still feel and work as well as they did on day one. The office chair by Lifeform is equally awesome. And when after 5 years I had a problem with the chair, Steve and his team jumped into action to fix it, no questions asked. If you think you can find a better deal elsewhere, then you don't value good service! I recommend Relax The Back without reservation!
We ve bought two queen tempurpeadic mattresses, two queen/full bases, two human touch zero gravity powered recliners, and a dreamwave massage chair. The products are great, but we were only shopping there out of habit. The service is honestly less than to be desired, not only during the sale, but after the sale. Two times I ve called just to see if the salespeople might know how to contact the right support or if newer models have different features or where to find service for the items... their attitude is well, that s not our problem, and it looks like you are 5 days over warranty. This is when I was asking for help, not for a refund. I was not expecting admonishment. One time I called to ask if they had any suggestions about what company would be best to help me move a valuable purchase, and the answer I got was basically, why would you call us? Ummm, because you would be the person to call about advice on moving a $9000 chair that you sold me? They didn t even give another number to call. The Inada is great; the sale and service was not.
When you go in there, expect to have a salesperson rush over to you right away, maybe just because of the space, which is the opposite kind of experience I m usually looking for. It s pretty intimidating for shy people like me.
Over the last ten years I have gotten minimal service out of this store. Every product is great, but I think Relax the Back is a smart business that makes a ton of money off of consumers like me who are in so much pain that we don t want to expend the energy to find a new store . I know that sounds weird, but that s how you can be when you are in chronic pain. I will buy elsewhere in the future. I was tricked into buying $40,000 of overpriced items for a promise of non-existent service and relief.
I hate to write bad reviews, but I m sitting here hurting in this chair and thinking about how awful it feels to be swindled. I m glad I was asked for a review, however.
We just bought our latest mattress from another company here in Austin, and the experience was night and day. So much better than Relax the Back. If a company is going to charge a premium price, they need to provide a premium experience. The other places charge a reasonable price and great service.
There have been no fights or arguments with the store and people have been relatively friendly in their lack of service, so this isn t a hot-headed rant. It s just that the company itself seems to really suck, and I was prompted to write a review. This is my honest answer.
The company is welcome to contact me to discuss my experience. I d be happy to talk to the salespeople as well, though they tend to forget who their big customers are. I want nothing out of it, and have no ill will toward you. I was just asked for a review.

I just paid $60+ for some lumbar support, which is fine..but the guy that was "helping" could not tell me why I needed one in particular over the other...etc. He did get up and at least get me to the right area...on a personal note....I get migraines and smell is a trigger...this gentleman is a heavy smoker, just fyi...
We walked in here while shopping for a Tempurpedic mattress. Steve approached us and was excellent. He was not pushy like most mattress salesmen. He simply educated us on our options and wanted us to make the right decision for us. I appreciated his professionalism while educating us and not being pushy. Would definitely recommend this store.
Got the larger option on the car seat. Made the difference for my Honda Accord . If you ve ever owned an Accord, you know the seat commits attempted manslaughter on your bottom. With this pad, I can drive for hours in comfort. Go down there, put one in your car, and sit on it for a while. You ll see what I m talking about.
Excellent customer service! I had a couple of tries before I found the right seat cushion for my car and they were very patient and professional. I'm really satisfied with my choice.
I have shopped at Relax the Back many times over the years, always receiving wonderful service and products. A month ago I went in with a very specific request for an item that would help my elderly mother who was in a great deal of pain. The staff went above and beyond to help me find a perfect item which has indeed helped my mother a great deal. I so appreciate the actual care and compassion behind the company that claims to provide comfort and a restful night's sleep. Thank you! Nancy
Customer service was horrible. Neither employee knew how to properly use or adjust the very expensive massage hairs. I received a large bonus from work and have always wanted a massage chair, so I was browsing in earnest, but I could hardly get anyone's attention for more than a few moments. Multiple times, another customer would enter or the phone would ring and they would excuse themselves for "just a minute" to welcome the new guest or answer the phone. They did not return afterward. I was trying to adjust one of the chairs because my arms/hands were not in the appropriate locations and the employee just kept reclining/unreclining and asking if that helped (obviously it did not). Then he asked me if I had abnormally short arms. I'm going to purchase a massage chair, but I will never purchase a thing from this waste of retail-space. I'm beyond surprise that they are even still in business.
My sales person, Michael, was friendly, extremely helpful, and thorough in explaining all the features of the desk chair that I ended up purchasing. Michael also followed up with me when I called to find out when to expect the chair I ordered, as it was customer made.
I just purchased my second Tempur-Pedic mattress from Relax the Back. I love working with the gentlemen there because they are so well educated about their products and they can make sure I am getting exactly what I need. I have several spinal injuries and their expertise and products have helped me SO much! I don't know what I would do without the Relax the Back store by my house!! Thank you!!
