Not as scary as I thought it would be with two small kids during COVID. My assumption was the flying was going to be awful with two small kids but it wasn t too bad. Our flight was at 7 am, so the airport was basically empty and not much was open. I can t say how this compares to normal. Everyone wore masks, there was hand sanitizer everywhere, some seats were blocked off at the bar, but most were open. Check in was easy.

Early morning flight. Staff from check-in to TSA to AA boarding were all professional, polite, and demonstrating safe distancing and mask wearing ( not just preaching it).
One of the best domestic airports I've been to in the states. Good food options, quick security lines and clean facilities. Very few delays and fast baggage claim turnaround.
Just dropped off my cousin but I needed a wheelchair for her. The traffic patrol was amazing! He was so helpful, friendly, checked backed and even went to get the wheelchair himself. Then he came back to my car to let me know my husband was going to take few extra minutes to help her. Just an awesome experience. Way to go! True example of customer service, respect for disabled, and all with a great smile.
Worst transfer station in USA. Two things I hate most about DCA: 1. For all the flights I've taken, you have to take a BUS to the ramp, wait outside in the RAIN while they load your luggage, then wait again to board. Truly nasty. 2. It appears you have to go through security every time you change concourses. Since all my transfers require this, it means you have to RUN through crowds of people, and may still miss your flight. Got TSA PreCheck? Sorry, that won't help you a bit.
This airport is a great option for connecting flights or to flight to DC metro. The airport is well connected to the DC metro system, it is very clean and it has good facilities.
It's pretty good as far as airports are concerned. Here's my pro tip: if you have the time, don't go through security quite yet and enjoy the shopping and restaurants that the main area has to offer. Once you go in, you'll find yourself more limited.
Quick and convenient. The staff is friendly and the lines are never too ridiculous. There is a nice food selection as well. This is my home airport and one of my favorite airports.
dca won't contact Frank in as Abboutt sa term mkt issues and concerns machado kazen hilbeg hilbig in violation of commercial purpose codes out of sa w soutthcross at lynden
Definitely one of the worst airports I've ever been in! Self checkin and people behind counter are not friendly nor did they even check for identification Hope when you come your good at guessing were you are supposed to go
Very close to Washington. Found it really easy to go there from and to Washington by taxi. Was quite busy, signage was not a problem for me as it is a rather small airport. Has everything you basically need. Good times.
Arrivals was closed off, so we had to go to departures to be picked up. No signs were visible with any directions. The elevator line was long so we had to tote 3 pieces of luggage up the escalator....I'm too tired to finish this story. It was a lot. The airport was visually appealing though.
Many years of upgrades raised my rating. Large airport where having precheck pays off. Pay attention to what terminal as some need shuttles. Easy access in and out of DC
No disrespect to Reagan. While this airport is convenient to DC, like everything else in Washington it is inefficient and dysfunctional. The layout of the terminals and the waiting areas are horrible. Best thing for this airport would be to tear it down and then start again from scratch.
I've never experienced such disorganization in my life. Most of the flights have gotten cancelled tonight, I've been moved around to 3 gates. Every 30 mins my plane gets delayed another 30 mins. Employees here seem very agitated. This is the worst!
Location, cleanernes, easy to navigate, pretty fast security lines, plenty of dinning options. Complain about - ongoing renovation, so ride-sharing is difficult to locate, some doors are closed. Note - January 2020 Uber & Lyft are on the 3rd floor even for arrival and pick up from airport. Doors are 3 & 1 in B/C
They have good amenities, but if you wear a MAGA hat in that airport, be prepared to take the heat from TSA, flight attendants, and etc... it was almost comical on how much hate TSA and the flight attendants gave me for wearing a MAGA hat. At the ticketing counter, the lady was mocking my hat, when all i wanted was my boarding pass. I feel that a good majority of the employees at DCA are biased against trump supporters and openly show it and DCA needs to get that under control!
One of the best airports to land at. You see a lot of the national monuments. Even though I lived around this area for 11 years, it still is pretty cool especially at night.
I travel in and out of DC all the time. Economy parking is good and the shuttle service runs throughout the day. Haven t had any issues My 2 years so far.
Could possibly be the worst airport I have encountered in terms of amenities. Bathrooms are limited and designed horribly, you have to wait in two lines to get food, no place to sit. Floor to ceiling windows with sun just baking waiting passengers in gate area. This place is mayhem when some flights get delayed, no place/other gates to get delayed passengers out of the way while other flights continue on.
Security is a nightmare. There are far to few lines. The airport staff has a few friendly faces but overall they are quite rude. The facilities are maintained but not clean. They definitely should take customer service lessons from Southwest, as they are the best in customer service.
One negative comment I have about this airport is : the only news source they play on every tv is cnn, a misleading media, why aren t any other news channels played?
One bathroom in a concourse, trash bag left unnattended in the main walkway and torn seats? Pretty much the example of purity and effectivness of its namesake. What a dissapointment.
Easily the most convenient way to get to and from DC, with regular air service to everywhere on the East Coast and a yellow line MTA station right outside the terminal doors. Nice views of the DC skyline from every terminal, and depending on which way the wind is blowing you get a quick (and sometimes slightly terrifying) tour of the CIA, Pentagon, and Crystal City from one side of the plane and the major DC attractions (Washington Monument, Capitol, etc) from the other side.
Southwest Airlines baggage take in associates should be evaluated. Extremely rude. Avoid Lolita if you can. Very disappointed, I fly #Southwest twice a month. I generally carry on.
A smaller, close in airport. Reagan Airport is set in a park-like setting. The marbled floored interior is simple with little if any art. It is well maintained befitting the National Capital. The walks to the gates are short. Very tight security. Good selection of restaurants and shops. Everything's wheelchair-accessible. Expensive parking.
The Southwest terminal is in dire need of some updating. The restrooms are very old and small.
On the upside, the Southwest Customer Service Team was very friendly, and made checking in at the counter a breeze.
Going through security was painless. The line was not that long, and TSA kept it moving.
I wish there were more food choices at this terminal. However I must say, I had a pretty good breakfast burger....a hamburger with two eggs fried eggs on it!
So here s what happened. I got of a southwest plane. Then the gates were locked and we couldn t get out. This was the first time this happened in a airport and we were freakin our. But soon an employee came to unlock the gate. Other than that, great food and nice experience.
Very nice if it fits your flight. The metro stop is extremely nice, airport is clean, and picking up/dropping off passengers is simple. Only issue I've had is when my brother-in-law was returning from deployment. Their webpage states family is allowed to the gate to meet the service members, however when we got to the airport my sister got a run around from airport management and TSA saying it was the other's responsibility to get her a pass to get to the gate. After 45min of back and forward she finally gave up and joined me at Starbucks to wait for his flight. Frustrating that they advertise such a nice idea, but have no idea how to implement it.
As a first-time visitor to DC, I appreciated the fact that this airport is close to the Metro, which makes getting to your destination in the city easy. Depending on the length of your visit, get a SmarTrip card at the DCA Metro station so that you can commute via the train and bus at a discounted rate (see bottom of review for details).
The walk between the Metro station and Terminal A is a good 5-8 minutes away but just follow the directional signs closely. If you are flying out of DCA, note that power outlets for recharging your mobile devices are not easily available (find them near the huge glass windows with view of the runways).
SMARTRIP CARD FOR VISITORS Base price for the card is $8 plus a $2 fee. The card can be loaded during your stay using cash or card. A typical ride within the DC metro area is about $2-$3, but most of the places of interests (eg. Museums and monuments) are within walking distance.
This past Wednesday November 4, 2020 was when I utilized the Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport in Arlington Virginia for a direct flight to Norfolk International Airport in Norfolk Virginia (for vising my husband). The Ronald Regan Washington Airport is very easy to find even if you take public transit because of the signs around easily highlighting both the metro station entrances and the entry points in the airport to both checkin and access the tickets. I purchased my ticket online and I arrived with plenty of time to check in and I got through scanning and processing quicker than I expected. Fortunately things also went smoothly for my planned flight arrival time (both leaving towards Norfolk Virginia and the arrival time in Norfolk Virginia).
A VIEW FROM REAGAN NATIONAL AIRPORT IS ALWAYS FASCINATING. AND BEAUTIFUL.I fly from here many time to New York and other cities have best experience compare to Any other Airport.
I was doing a dropoff, so I parked at the garage which cost $9/hr. There is an elevator and walkway from there to the terminals give yourself at least 10 minutes time to do a decent amount of walking. The USO is on the way to the terminals and was staffed by a friendly old pair of folks. Frontier staff was nice enough. Got a guest gate pass to go through security. Had breakfast at the Dunkin Donuts with my order taken by a cranky lady (it was early in the morning). Past security there are iPads you can order your food/play games with in the terminal area. Overall good experience.
Wow this airport has thought of everything! The employees are kind and helpful. The airport is very clean and one of the most efficient airports I ve been to. I would love to fly into this beautiful airport again.
Probably the most convenient and accessible airport in the United States. I was able to check my baggage outside the airport before I even went inside. Super close to the city and literally has a DC metro station connected to the airport. Going through security is a breeze, and the food options are incredible. Would definitely recommend over BWI or IAD any day.
