I can't get in or out of this airport without taking wrong turns. Long term parking is expensive. Inside it's over crowded. If you have to fly out of this airport I recommend taking the metro in.
I don't know what could be said, it's typically an uplifting experience.
Busy airport and not built for the amount of people that come through the airport. It does look like they are expanding so that's good. They do have several restaurant choices, not much in terms of shopping past TSA. Most of shopping and food before TSA in the main concourse.
If you decide to walk from the car rental area, the poor signage makes it really hard to tell which airline is in what terminal.
Back again. Stuck waiting on the Tarmac because there is no gate available.
I like the airport.....alot a good food...... however there's construction going so arrivals have to go to the departure area to get picked by your family, Uber or cab....
I ve lived in the NoVA area all my life and even when I was traveling in the military I would always Reagan over Dulles. There s so much to do within walking distance in Crystal and Pentagon City. The metro is close and can take you into DC or Alexandria. I always fly Southwest and I never have any issues and always quick to my gate and getting my baggage. For me, pick up and drop off is easy since Southwest is in the old building and sort of has it s own terminal. I will only use Reagan when I fly from the DC area.
Stores behind security closed at 7p.m so no beverages or snacks to buy before the flight boards.
The flight crew was very nice and helpful towards me as I was flying with my baby by myself. I would definitely fly through this airport again.
Very clean and friendly airport. This was my first flight is my life and it was fun. Many small shops and any foods.
For convenience you can't beat DCA. Delays can be a bite but when all is said and done the most breathtaking landing for which you could ask is a port side seat on the plane landing on runway 19. Straight down the Potomac Kennedy Center , Lincoln, Washington the Jefferson Memorial a quick look to the right see the pentagon back to the left for the Capitol then a quick right turn and welcome to Washington DC and the great Commonwealth of Virginia
This has to be one of the most poorly organzied group of people working this airport.
I flew out of DCA the day before Thanksgiving and I had no issues. There was no line going through security so it was a breeze and my plane took off on time. I enjoyed some of the new food options that are located in terminal C once you get past security and hung out till my flight that evening. On the way back we landed on time and there was no issue getting off the plane once we landed. Overall the experience was great.
Easy enough to get around. I typically have tight connections which can make it irritating to changer terminals, but there is usually plenty of time to get to the proper gate.
All the staff was rude! From the check bag in line, to check in no organization, not helpful, not even courteous, will never use this airport again!!!!
Parking was easy. Shuttle bus was timely. Security checks were thorough yet quick.
Had an unusual incident with the traffic patrol. She targeted me and told me I couldn't pick up my arriving guest even though there were people parked there. I had circled again and still noticed the same people parked there. I am calling it BS. And she got violent towards me asking to step outside the car so she can take care.
The interior of this airport needs a face lift and thoroughly cleaned. The food options are terrible and way over priced in the A terminal. The quick security/TSA lines was the only positive experience.
Washington's Ronald Reagan National Airport (DCA) is one of the three largest airports serving the Baltimore-Washington metro area in the District of Columbia, and the closest airport to the country's capital. It is located just five kilometers from the downtown district. A total of 11 airlines operate with DCA, including US Airways (using DCA as a hub), Air Canada Express, American Airlines, Delta Air Lines, JetBlue Airways, Southwest Airlines and United Airlines. By law, flights between Washington National Airport and other destinations can only be carried out within a radius of 2011 kilometers from the DCA. However, a total of 20 sorties daily can be performed outside this perimeter.
(2016) I was here briefly for a layover. What originally happened is that we were intended to go from Hartford - Orlando but apparently, even though we showed up to BDL 50 minutes early, they shut the gate on us - therefore alienating us from the flight. We caught the next flight in a weird but somewhat spontaneous order? BDL - DCA - FLL.
Our layover at DCA was intended of being approximately 90-120 minutes. Guess what. DCA screwed us over. I've always wondered why people hate flying into DCA. God, we were delayed 2 hours, on top of the 90/120 minute wait. I was really mortified. Fortunately though, I was granted better seating due to a loss at the time. 3/5
Close, but uncomfortable and small. They shut half the airport down so I was practically starving
Flying on a Wednesday afternoon on American. I find the terminal to be cramped and crowded. The announcements are too loud, numerous, and difficult to follow. The airplane experience is difficult enough. Do we have to put travelers through this as well? I think we can do better, much better.
My favorite classic airport, not as crowded as others
Definitely the most convenient airport if you want DC. Easy metro access right from the terminal and its also a short cab ride into downtown.
This airport is extraordinary. Good service and good staff, but what I really enjoy is that you can view the planes without having to go through security, meaning you can have a good spotting experience without having a ticket. I had a good time when entering and leaving this airport and the metro is very convenient.
Not busy at all. Went through security rather fast.
Doing some work on the place, looking forward to seeing the much needed transformation.
.... You smell that ?
Take a wiff?!
Anyone else smell it, I think it's modernization I'm smelling... good!
This airport is the worst one I've been to. They need more charging ports, or ones that work, the American airlines area in terminal B was terribly disorganized. The flight crews kept changing planes, boarding pass scanners were broken, and flights kept continuously being delayed. One guy got on the wrong plane because his gate was moved, the attendant waved him on, luckily someone had the seat or he would have ended up in Nashville vs Syracuse. I will not be flying out of this airport in the future. Another woman also went to ask an employee a question and was told she didn't have time for her.
This is the worst Hertz location that I have ever visited. Unfortunately, I have to travel to the DC area frequently and my company uses Hertz exclusively. I am a Presidents Gold club member and never once has the Gold board been in operation and in each case there is a line out the door of the tiniest Gold booth in their system. I have not ever been able to get a car off the property in less than 45 minutes from the time that I arrive at the Gold counter. On top of all that, the employee's are some of the most unfriendly people that I have encountered. I recommend any other car rental agency or use uber. This location is terrible.
Flying into and out of National Airport is, on most occasions, pretty painless. Security is quicker than most places and the food options are good. The only complaint is that there are always delays of some kind here.
This airport doesn't have much. The TSA area was cramped, crowded and unorganized. But they do their best to get you on your way. Pro tip: take off you stuff while standing in line...
When I arrived late everything was closed but I noticed that there wasn't any restaurants or fast food in the terminal. This was true on my departure as well, the stores were open but no food options.
Beautiful DC views while we took off, quick cab or Uber from Crystal City. The locals all suggest to always fly into DCA, Dulles doesn't have much to offer for DC tourism.
If you don t know where you are for certain do not depend on the terrible English speaking employees to direct you. Instead find someone who can understand your request and be sure you are certain that they do. If not you may get miss your flight.
It took me a whole hour to go through safety check (from lining at TSA!)when there were less than a 100 people . I could not believe they only have one isle for none TSA, so they mix with TSA anyways! The employee at my isle was super impatient and rude. My belt was stuck in the machine and he would not help. He finally came for the jam and said you are welcome to me. Come on, find someone better to represent the capitol airport.....felt like any airport would be better than this.
I enjoy flying into this airport, every time I fly - my process is always smooth and efficient.
This airport is a bit dated but is kept very clean and up to date with nice stores... also from another point of view, the architecture is amazing... wish it was a bigger tho, it feels super crowded everytime I fly here.
I have been through Regan International Airport at least a dozen times this year alone and have always had a positive experience. There is a great variety of restaurants and my opinion is the airport staff is quick to respond to the changing influxes of travelers as it ebbs and floods throughout the day....just this guys humble opinion
Nice looking airport with a good location. Metro Station right there. Very isolated security sections so you may need to go to the non secured side for food. Line to get back in was not terrible, but recommend getting the TSA pre-check.
Easy to get to by public transit. I have a little bit of a biases this is my home Airport. Service is good layout is easy to navigate even as a blind person.
My favorite airport to go into and out of. Being able to get off the metro and walk right into the airport is amazing. Lots of food and shopping outside of the terminals. Food can be a little limited depending on your terminal. Has a five guys and a bens tho which is awesome.
Not enough places to sit down or eat once past security in terminals, and not enough places to recharge mobile devices- many are broken.
Washington's best (and most convenient) airport. Not only is it Metro-accessible and easy to navigate, it also boasts one of the best views on approach or take-off. DCA is pretty easy to navigate, although it would help if terminals were connected air-side, and if Terminal A weren't a little run down and too crowded.
No gate agent and ground team at American airlines aa4441 on Jan 28. 55 minutes sitting on tarmac waiting to deplane
Didn't think ill of it until experiencing terrible attitude at the safety check point. A few of us in line had our stuff hold without any explanations or notice. I tried to ask about it; no response. Instead, the lady who was in charge of our line threw my other stuff to me. When I grabbed all my other stuff and stepped out of the line trying to ask again, she stared at me fiercely. (Unreasonable! Totally lack communications!
Today the AA club had an amazing guacamole and artichoke dip
Terminal A needs work. There's not enough space for seating folks and boarding. There are not enough food options and there is always a wait to sit and eat. Sitting as a group is nearly impossible. The self service store is overpriced, even for an airport and is not adequately staffed. Other gates do not seem to have these issues, though I primarily for Southwest, so I always get stuck in A.
Location location location - right off the DC metro with easy access to Crystal City and DC itself. Doing curb-side checking really speeds up your experience - and the economy parking picks you up RIGHT at your car - no walking to bus stops etc. However, because of this it's a very compact and busy airport.
Landing here makes you feel you are in Washington DC the capitol. Airport not as huge but very beautiful and has a professional look from every angle. I love the diversity and how busy this airport is. Note to first time travelers...watch out for traffic getting to dca...!!!
Worse airport I have seen. Gate are numbered but it doesn't show A, B, or C gate. When you arrive from Gate X. No one tells you were to go, extremely rude people working here...
The airport is surprisingly tiny. It can be terribly crowded with departing flights. The view of D.C. from the plane, however, is pretty impressive.
It is a very nice small airport, but if you need to make a connection, you often need to take a shuttle-bus (which is not very well marked in the concourse) so ask the gate agent! Otherwise, you can walk, but then you need to re-clear security :-(
I don't *love* DCA, but I don't hate it, either. Its best feature is probably the fact that it's connected to the Metro system, which makes it really convenient and easy to get to. It's not a huge airport, but there are enough food and shops to be satisfactory. If you're super lazy, or just have a ton of luggage with you, there's a shuttle that will take you to each of the terminals, but again, it's not like it's not walkable. It's not the most modern or aesthetically pleasing airport (e.g., the baggage claim area), but it gets the job done. I've never really had any major issues with checking in or going through security, and the restrooms are always clean enough. And don't forget -- there's the chance that you'll see someone "famous" (an overrated politician) on your flight.
The security checkpoint was surprisingly efficient and troublefree. I've visited many times over the years and DCA has its charms. It looks clean and well run now.
No food selection.
Have to wait in two lines for food, one to order and one to pay.
Five stars for location convenience, three stars (and fewer more often than not) for pick up or drop off. It is a beautiful facility and is really not bad if you choose to park and go in to pickup folks. It is the drive in and drive through the airport that will test you. And there is construction; it seems like there is always construction. Parking in the garage is not a problem, but the cell phone lot fills up at times.
Small airport. Great service. Nice people. Limited restaurants.
The airport is very comfortable to find both airlines and departures and boarding gates. It is a very useful airport to travel.
Officer Williams of TSA had a crappy attitude towards everyone, especially colored people
One of the best airports I've traveled in. Nice facilities, clean, and have never encountered excessive security lines.
At the security check, in front of us in line, I later found out there was a man who had lost his Military ID. He asked them to stop the conveyor belt and go through all his luggage, but he found the ID in his shoe. As me and my sister moved forward slowly, I said to her "Why isn't it moving?" She replied, "I don't know, it's just not moving." We were talking to each other quietly and all of a sudden, this security lady walks over and looks at us with such rudeness and says, "That's because I"M NOT MOVING IT." My sister says, "Oh, okay!" She said it so rudely, we thought she was kidding and we expected a laugh and a "Just kidding!" But no. The rude security lady gives us a death glare and walks away.
We felt very unwelcome and it ruined our day. Thanks, Ronald Reagan Airport security.
I am able to get through DCA quickly and on my flight mostly because the walking distance from entering to the gate is very short.
Washington D.C is so far away Trump is mean to spanish People.
Security took way to long and is very confusing. Limited food options and the ones available are very expensive
If I could give it zero stars I would. The layout is terrible and I have later over here many times. I have had a gate change 100% of the time and delayed 100% of the time including today!
I was there twice. The first time I rented a rented car (I lost my way a bit, but then I got there), the second time I flew out of it. Everything is fine. The only negative is the taxi driver who drove us after we drove home. In my opinion, he was stoned, then he would throw the wheel, then he would turn to face us on the go and figure out where to go. Despite this, we got safely))
Best airport! Such nice architecture and so much to see outside of security
