Duncan was entirely straight with me. He did not over-estimate the price at the beginning, and in fact achieved the higher end of the estimate and a little more. His market strategy did not burden me with unnecessary work and yet proved to be highly successful. He was able to call on contacts to give me some much-appreciated media coverage. And he was always considerate, communicative, and pleasant to deal with. So even though there were a few knuckle-chewing moments along the way, the experience was way less stressful than it might have been - and entirely satisfactory in the end.

An absolute garbage fire. Despite never doing an inspection of a rental property, complained about the cleanliness of a rental property to another prospective agent. Did not communicate during the bond return process, and charged things against the bond without consulting tenant first, even after an explicit request for a quote. Failed to replace defective smoke alarm in a rental property. Failed to act on other tentants illegally occupying a car space in a rental property. Failed to act on another tentant illegally occupying a storage cage. Only takes rental payments by cash, cheque, or direct debit.

Avoid.

I am a contractor for many many real estates in and around the inner west, I I must say that dealing with the team at R&H Newtown has always been a pleasure, the property management staff in particular go above and beyond to look after their clients. Great job guys, keep up the good work.

The fact that they have 4.1 rating is a joke they clearly have had to ask people to give 5 stars. Stay away form these cowboys I am a landlord I used them and the price I was paying I would expect to be called back after 2 weeks of missed calls. The list is long I can get it to it if asked but don t use these guys.

I was trying to apply for a lovely home in Alexandria and needed the application link before 4pm on Friday. Spoke with the Agent, Matthew Lovicu, earlier that day. I had to request it several times on the day and I still have not heard from the agent. It has now been 5 days with no word back, via email, call or even a text. Very poor customer service.

We rented our flat through Raine and Horne and have been delighted with the experience from start to finish. I am particularly impressed with the women who work in reception -- they are knowledgable, professional and eager to help. I locked myself out of my flat two days ago, and was back in within 20 minutes after I ran to the office to get the key.

Horrible and inexperienced staff!! Have had nothing but issues with Raine and Horne Newtown. From repairs, to changing direct debit forms 3 weeks ago - they are still charging me out of my old account!!!! They obviously are very disorganised and have no idea how to run a business correctly. Disgusting attitude from staff who just try to palm you off. Will never rent through them again and I advise you DONT either.

I was really nice but the attitude they have towards people must depend on who you are. Had a very positive open inspection for a property I attended. In particular with real estate agent Jacklyn Tang. She was very helpful and knowledgeable with all queries I had about the property.

I m not usually one to leave google reviews but my tenancy with Raine and Horne Newtown was such a nightmare I have to discourage anyone from using them. Both Capri Ford and Nicole Howell contributed to our tenancy being this bad through extremely poor communication skills as well as becoming rude, aggressive and at times emotionally abusive when basic things were questioned.

To begin with, the day we moved in we were informed that several minor repairs needed to be done and this would occur soon . Upon moving in, these minor repairs included a broken dryer, a broken dishwasher, a collapsed ceiling frame and a broken door handle to a balcony. I was naturally quite upset that these repairs hadn t been finalised before our move in date as I was told the previous tenants would be moving out over a week beforehand. I asked if the repairs could be rushed forward and was met with a stream of excuses. As this was my first time renting a property, I decided to get my mother involved as she has a legal background as well as years of experience with both renting and owning properties. After my mother spoke to Capri, I had a handyman calling me and arriving at the property within an hour. The ceiling and door handle were instantly fixed, at least comforting me that I could sleep safely on King St that night. The dryer and dishwasher took significantly longer but surprisingly, that is a minor detail overall.

Capri then proceeded to contact me the next day, accusing my mother of being rude and inferring that I was childish to get her involved. She constantly stated that she had to break protocol to get these repairs done and several other people were disadvantaged due to this. I obviously was very confronted by this as I thought it was my basic right to move into a property that was fully functioning and assumed this would be a priority. I also didn t expect to be personally attacked for getting someone with more experience than me involved. This was not the last time during our tenancy that both Capri and Nicole decided to insult me for involving my mother.

Throughout our stay, we received extremely poor communication from both parties. Mould started growing on the bathroom roof after a storm and while someone did come to inspect the building reasonably quickly, we were told afterwards someone would be in contact to clean the mould (an obvious health hazard). This never occurred.

We also requested permission to install NBN during our stay - multiple calls and emails regarding this were never responded to. We d also been informed multiple times by Capri before moving in that the property was a STRICT 6 MONTHS LEASE ONLY . She only bothered to inform us that we were allowed to stay after I d applied for numerous other properties and had requested a rental ledger from her 3 weeks before our lease had ended.

Finally, upon moving out, we were informed that the battery in the remote which controlled the bedroom lights and fan needed to be changed. This was working perfectly before we left, the buttons often had to be held down for a short period to work so I imagine this was the problem. Nicole informed me that it would be a grand total of $71 for a 9V battery change apparently I should be grateful for this because the electrician was called out for another reason so the landlord would be halving the costs with me. I naturally disputed the need for an electrician to change a battery and thus this ridiculous cost and was then threatened to be taken to NCAT over it.

Eventually, I gave in to paying this $71 overall a small price to pay to be completely done with this nightmare of an agency. I have never known anyone to be so incompetent and resort to aggression and emotional abuse upon being questioned by a customer. I thoroughly encourage anyone considering renting a property managed by Raine and Horne Newtown to reconsider as it is just not worth the emotional stress.

Agent during corona virus not helpful. I would like to mention Matthew, not clear at all, taking ages to reply emails and a the end of the tenancy made the wrong end of tenancy, and A the end try to treating me over the phone Telling me if I didn t stop calling asking for explanations He will make me pay the full rent amount for the previous months(phone call recorded) after He has agree for a reduction. We have been living in the same house for more than 2 years and never ask for anything. In general they never been high in kindness in this agency but Matthew is the worst of worst. I was so tired to deal with him that I paid even it was incorrect. Please be careful with this agency.

FAMILIES BEWARE!!! We all know those gypsies in Paris that try and con you and take your money, well maybe Raine and Horne Newtown has hired them as real estate agents? Because check your wallets after renting through them and you may find yourself missing A LOT of money... for absolutely abysmal customer service, LIES, deceiption and DODGY BEHAVIOUR!!!! SCAM ALERT! If you have to deal with them, take heed: document everything, remember your rights, and DON'T LET THEM SCAM YOU LIKE THEY SCAMMED OUR FAMILY!

Duncan and Monica did a great job on the sale of our apartment in Erskineville. With tenants vacating after a long tenancy the place really needed a spruce up and Monica managed getting the place painted, re-carpeted and styled all within a week. It was an unusual market due to the impacts of COVID and we needed to make changes to the sales strategy along the way and Duncan was very good in thinking through alternatives with us and providing solid advice which paid off with a sale price we were very happy with. When you are selling a property you want to know what is happening and the communication Duncan provided was timely, both giving us a verbal update after every open house as well as a written report. We had looked at a couple of agents and are very happy we decided to go with Duncan and the R&H Newtown team.

I would not recommand this real estate to anyone !!
My boyfriend and I have been renting a house through them for a year, everything was ok until we told them we wanted to leave. Since then, they made our life very difficult !
We told them by email we were going to leave, letting them know and giving them notice, but they said we should have filled a special document so we had to pay another 3 weeks rent... We ended up paying double rent for 3 weeks (the house we were not leaving in anymore + our new house).
The truth is they knew the rent was overpriced (that's why we wanted to leave) so they wouldn't find anyone quickly and took any excuse to steal our money for a bit longer..
During these 3 weeks, we've left the place clean so they could organize inspections, they then said if we wanted to have all of our bond back we had to pay for a particular cleaning company. This costed us 400 dollars...
But it's not done yet. They took 320 dollars from our bond to change 3 light bulbs (only one was not working when we left, the two others probably died after all these weeks of inspection) and put a blind back. They said they had to hire a handyman... it probably took the guy half an hour in total !!
Be really careful with them, I never put reviews but I prefer warning you....

Unfriendly over the phone, not helpful to build my trust to use them. Perhaps only one person in his bad day.

Thank you to Bruna Romano for answering all our questions about securing a rental. We are new to the area and Bruna took the time to listen.

I had a tenancy dispute at a rental property and the team at newtown did not do much to help me. It was a very distressing time trying to escape an emotionally abusive narcissistic relationship and was forced out of the property by my then partner. After trying to get my name off the lease no one was able to help me. They made a very ill informed decision to call the police on me without my consent. This led to missing a day of work and a large ambulance bill which they refuse any responsibility for. I was not charged or committed for anything.
They then told me not to worry about getting my name off the lease only to tell me a month or so later that I indeed had to sign off documents, triggering me with further trauma.
They did not do enough to help me get out of a bad situation and more so the police doing a worse job. Avoid.

I rented a property in Newtown for 18 months. Raine & Horne were the property managers.
The experience and service I had with Raine & Horne - more in particular - Nicole and Sara was brilliant.
From signing my lease, to giving notice to vacate, both Nicole and Sara helped with any questions or problems that I had.
I've never rented before, and heard from friends on their experiences of vacating from other real estates.
I had nil problems what so ever with Raine & Horne AT ALL.
When I return to Newtown, I'll be finding a property managed from Nicole and Sara to rent, without a doubt.
