I have been to this building and spent a night or two with my parents when it was the Holiday Inn as a child. It then became the Crown Plaza Hotel I believe and I spent a few nights there as well and have been involved in events which were held there as an organiser, participant and spectator or guest. One of the more prestigious ones where I was directly involved was held by the Trinidad AND Tobago Civil Aviation Authority and the Airports Authority to commemorate the attainment of the status of "Category One" allowing our National Airline to fly freely into the US without significant restrictions. The building itself and the Staff worked quite well to ensure that the event which had various dignitaries such as the Prime Minister of TnT, various high level dignitaries such as the US Ambassador to TnT and high level operatives of the US CAA.

Now it is the Radisson Hotel in its latest incarnation. I must say that there were differences in the quality of service between the previous Crown Plaza brand and the Radisson.

The service I found was not nearly as pleasant or as professional as what I experienced with the Crown Plaza. The workers seemed stressed out and unhappy. I inquired of them as what were the best and worst things about working at the hotel. I asked 5 to 6 different employees from servers to attendants to the persons in reception to persons at the bar and stewards. They all worked at different establishments prior to working at the Radisson. They all loved the fact that the building is kind of iconic in Trinidad with the Revolving restaurant and its location was easy to get to as it was in the heart of the Capital. What they also enjoyed was the chance to help to build a new international brand here in Trinidad. What they were not too thrilled about was the management.

I must say that it showed. The staff seemed frustrated. They wanted to do a good job I am sure but something was wrong. I understand that the Management of Human Resources is not what it could be. There seems to be a fair amount of oppression by senior staff upon the junior staff which has been left unchecked. It really bothers me that in this day and age people who are managing in international brand are taking for granted the value of the life blood of the hotel... the workers. Workplace bullying is an absolute no no and should be stamped out. I actually witnessed a bit of it. It was unfortunate.

The superficial changes such as paint and carpeting that have come as a result of the name change are not as important as the leadership and the management which goes into the creation of a really great brand. I have been involved in Human Resources Management issues at different levels in the travel industry. I do believe that if the Radisson gets this right, maybe through some training for management or something like that they may rise to the expectations that persons have of the Radisson brand internationally. Until then I would hesitate to recommend the newest addition to the hotel offering in Trinidad and Tobago. I am sure they can achieve this.

I will be back there sometime in the future out of curiosity for the most part. I will be sure to write an honest review of the service then. I truly hope things have improved by then.

I am writing to express my disappointment while staying at the Radisson
Port of Spain Trinidad and Tobago. This was the most, by far, unpleasant
experience I've ever had traveling to a foreign country. I would not revisit.
This very unpalatable ordeal started upon arrival. Considering that I
was exhausted from a very long flight and have a very cranky five year.
I entered the premises to check in I was told by the receptionist that the rates that were told to us of $127 per night was not correct and cannot be honored. Despite my disappointment, tiredness, and grouchy toddler I proceed with the stay. At that point I asked just to confirm that my card would not be charged until check out as promised (because it was a check card) and I was reassured it would not be. I was also reassured at that point that we would be receiving a free continental breakfast for the duration of our stay. Because this facility was so highly recommended I decided to over look the "small" miscommunication. Upon opening our room door (420) we were greeted with an awful moldy smell. I called the front desk to complain only for a security guard to come up to show us other options. We were then forced to stay where we were. Later on
that night, we return to our room only to find out the entire AC unit
was not working. At that point my daughter and I had to repack all our
belongings and change room WITH NO HELP!!!!
The following morning I went to have breakfast. Only to be told
by the front desk corespondent Chrissi that we had to pay an additional
charge because breakfast wasn't included. I was completely taken aback
as less than 24 hours prior we were told something different. Of course
already being displeased with the service I was not paying an additional
cost because of anyone's incompetence.
On 5/29, the day after the wedding we were exhausted and excited at the
same time so we (all 6 of us) decided hang by the pool. As I was laying by the
pool my daughter opted to run over to me but stumbled and fell. Of
course, as a parent my 1st thing to do was to scold her and tell her the
dangers of running by the pool side. She got up, I dusted her off,
comforted her and as any child would she was off again. Soon after
(about 20 minutes), the rest of the party joined us. As they got comfy
finding spots and so forth, I took my 6 month old niece to the pool. In
transit there were service holes by the pool that were unsecured no
bolted holes and no signs of its fragility or danger all around. Before
I knew it my left leg was knee deep in the hole all while trying to
figure out how to save my niece's life by not having her head hit the
concrete. In doing so I busted my knee. In the pain, anger, and confused
state I was in. I went to the front desk demanding to speak to the
general manager to then be told he is not in at the moment. Chrissi (the
front desk attendant) then told me that "the General Manager for the
property is not in but she will get me the front desk supervisor". Once
he came out with his head held high. I knew this wasn't going to be
good. I explained to him that I hurt myself pretty bad in trying to save
my niece's life. He ask for me to take him to the location. I then
escorted him to the pool area where he looked at the hole, opened it
with one finger and told me "ma'am it's painted blue to adhere to
caution so you should have stepped over it". . I was at a complete
lost for words and I lost it. Only for him to then tell me in a louder
tone "MAM THE LOUDER YOU TALK THE LESS I CARE" at this point I wasn't sure if I should fight or flight.
the worst experience ever!!!

The place after being remodelled is quaint. Rooms are modern and functional with a bit of a 90's touch here or there minimally. Staff is friendly and responsive to requests, Overall the experience is solid

Too bad the room they gave me was very noisy.
The furnishings are to be renewed. Many things don't work well. For example the sinks. Sin.

The amenities were adequate......honestly the bare minimum I would expect of a hotel in the heart of the capital. The staff were sufficiently polite....meeting the necessary threshold to be considered courteous. Anything more than that was reserved for those considered attractive. All in all a perfectly barely above average stay. Like getting 56% on a test.... not great but you pass

I enjoyed my stay. The hotel room was clean and spacious. The 360 revolving restaurant is something to experience. The food was excellent. The buffet was always replenished and there is wide variety of food to choose from. The staff is very helpful and friendly. They made my mother's birthday very special.

Opposite the beautiful high rise complex of the strategically built towers, it's terrace and majestic looming larger than life elegantly put together buildings in the heart of Port Of Spain..scenic, picturesque, busy, on Wrightson Rd. The new Radisson is comfortable, easy to access, most easily located hotel in Trinidad. In the heart of the city. Walk to any part of POS,join the working class for a stroll on the terrace or a view of our Parliament... Busy but safe, anyway or anytime relaxation.

Good standard hotel, clean but carpeted rooms. Rooms with cassette, iron and ironing board, but I didn't notice the laundry service. Fairly varied buffet restaurant. Friendly and helpful staff.

We met friends for lunch and the menu was great. The buffet was fresh with plenty of options. I had the a la cart menu and went for the curry shrimp. It did not disappoint! Highly recommended!
