I am writing to express my disappointment while staying at the Radisson
Port of Spain Trinidad and Tobago. This was the most, by far, unpleasant
experience I've ever had traveling to a foreign country. I would not revisit.
This very unpalatable ordeal started upon arrival. Considering that I
was exhausted from a very long flight and have a very cranky five year.
I entered the premises to check in I was told by the receptionist that the rates that were told to us of $127 per night was not correct and cannot be honored. Despite my disappointment, tiredness, and grouchy toddler I proceed with the stay. At that point I asked just to confirm that my card would not be charged until check out as promised (because it was a check card) and I was reassured it would not be. I was also reassured at that point that we would be receiving a free continental breakfast for the duration of our stay. Because this facility was so highly recommended I decided to over look the "small" miscommunication. Upon opening our room door (420) we were greeted with an awful moldy smell. I called the front desk to complain only for a security guard to come up to show us other options. We were then forced to stay where we were. Later on
that night, we return to our room only to find out the entire AC unit
was not working. At that point my daughter and I had to repack all our
belongings and change room WITH NO HELP!!!!
The following morning I went to have breakfast. Only to be told
by the front desk corespondent Chrissi that we had to pay an additional
charge because breakfast wasn't included. I was completely taken aback
as less than 24 hours prior we were told something different. Of course
already being displeased with the service I was not paying an additional
cost because of anyone's incompetence.
On 5/29, the day after the wedding we were exhausted and excited at the
same time so we (all 6 of us) decided hang by the pool. As I was laying by the
pool my daughter opted to run over to me but stumbled and fell. Of
course, as a parent my 1st thing to do was to scold her and tell her the
dangers of running by the pool side. She got up, I dusted her off,
comforted her and as any child would she was off again. Soon after
(about 20 minutes), the rest of the party joined us. As they got comfy
finding spots and so forth, I took my 6 month old niece to the pool. In
transit there were service holes by the pool that were unsecured no
bolted holes and no signs of its fragility or danger all around. Before
I knew it my left leg was knee deep in the hole all while trying to
figure out how to save my niece's life by not having her head hit the
concrete. In doing so I busted my knee. In the pain, anger, and confused
state I was in. I went to the front desk demanding to speak to the
general manager to then be told he is not in at the moment. Chrissi (the
front desk attendant) then told me that "the General Manager for the
property is not in but she will get me the front desk supervisor". Once
he came out with his head held high. I knew this wasn't going to be
good. I explained to him that I hurt myself pretty bad in trying to save
my niece's life. He ask for me to take him to the location. I then
escorted him to the pool area where he looked at the hole, opened it
with one finger and told me "ma'am it's painted blue to adhere to
caution so you should have stepped over it". . I was at a complete
lost for words and I lost it. Only for him to then tell me in a louder
tone "MAM THE LOUDER YOU TALK THE LESS I CARE" at this point I wasn't sure if I should fight or flight.
the worst experience ever!!!
