my own experience is a SOLID 4.9 also. I don't shop at Nordstrom's any more when I can get a better shirt that absolutely fits me perfectly at less money and I can shop at home.

Have been to this place twice for fittings (second time after losing some weight). Both times I was a little early, both times I was helped right away.
Guys really know their stuff. Shirts I've ordered have arrived quickly. The website is an absolute pleasure to use. Great reward scheme (points for reviews / free shirt every 10).
Value is good for the fit, especially for some of the lower priced shrits (oxfords etc). Pricing is competitive with Bonobos / other mens wear places I shop and they are not made to measure or as good quality fabric.
So much better then off the rack shirts. I was looking for a more custom fit and the online fitting process was perfect and I love that I can order my shirts with my saved fitting. The quality of these shirts is worth the price.
This really is an excellent way to order dress shirts. Custom fabric choices, near-total design control, fast service and reasonable prices.
One oddity: the pockets are so shallow as to be barely functional. Maybe they'll offer an option (it would be one of dozens of design options) to fix that small problem.
First shirt just came...fit is great and the fabric is better than I anticipated.
My only knock is that they aren't made in the USA. I try to buy US when possible, but if you don't care about this sort of thing, it is a moot point. That said, having tried both Proper Cloth (made in Malaysia) and Ratio Clothing (made in USA) shirts, there is no discernible difference in quality between the two. The fabric and collar selection at Proper Cloth was larger, and was ultimately why I tried them out.
Like many of the other reviewers, this was my first custom shirt. The first one came and needed a few changes. No problem. Proper Cloth offers a free alteration on your first shirt. The new shirt came faster than promised and fit perfectly. High quality fabric, looks smart.
This is the only way to buy shirts. Takes a while to get fitted and figure out your style preferences, but it's a cool showroom with a great staff and they are punctual with their appointments (you have to make one). And once you are done with the initial fitting, you just order shirts based on the fabrics and they are delivered to you in a couple weeks for the same price or less than it would cost to buy the same shirt in a generic (not custom) size in a store.
Wonderful selection of quality fabrics, and the fit cannot be beat. Prices are actually fairly reasonable for a custom shirt. I probably won't bother buying off the shelf shirts anymore now that I found Proper Cloth.
First time buyer and with me dictating the exact measurements, the fit was spot on. I ordered a simple white twill dress shirt with french cuffs sort of as a trial run. Unless you need a shirt within a few days, there's no reason not use a company like this because you can send the shirt back or request alterations to it online. About as close as you can get to bespoke tailoring. Get your measurements done beforehand so there will be minor changes if needed. I actually didn't have any measurements done and just used numbers based on what I wear now and knowing what's comfortable and fitting for me. I also like the fact that the custom measurements are saved and any shirt I purchase in the future, I know will be "Proper".

Excellent experience. Shirt ordering was easy. I received the shirt and it was close, but not quite right. The customer service team was fantastic in making a number of adjustments to get it right.

I lived in Asia and am very familiar with custom shirt making. Proper Cloth has great fabrics, excellent workmanship, and I've been satisfied every time. I get golf shirts at the mall, but I now get every other shirt here.
I love the fact that Proper Cloth has a wide selection of fabrics and you can design your own dress shirt at home. I was able to create a dress shirt with a round collar and round french cuffs, which I couldn't find at any retail store near my home.

I am really impressed with the quality of the masks I have purchased from Proper Cloth, as well as with the outstanding, enthusiastic customer service I have received. These masks come in many colors, they are obviously carefully designed and expertly sewn, and they are shipped quickly as well. It is nice to wear a well made mask that doesn't slide off of my face when I speak. It is also great to interact with the friendly and helpful customer service reps when necessary.
Rarely do i write reviews, in fact this is my first on google, but i thought it would be helpful with the goal of fixing the problem. I ordered four shirts from PC almost 4 weeks ago. They sent me the test shirt which was great. Since then, i was informed 1 of the 3 remaining was sold out--4 weeks after i placed the order and paid for the order. One week after getting that notice, i was informed a second shirt was sold out. Mind you, all after i had made the order and paid for the order in full.
Shirt is good and customer service seems good but there is something inherently flawed in their process. For a shirt to be sold out 4 weeks after i made the order is not logical. That means they are fulfilling orders that are made after my order. Otherwise the shirt would've registered sold out when i tried to initially buy it. The process should be to set aside the fabric once the order is made--that avoids this situation.
None of this is the end of the world. But not the best first experience.
Proper cloth has the perfect method of buying shirts. The fit is saved so all you need to do is pick out a fabric, select any design tweaks and go.

Proper Cloth is truly a great custom shirt company. I have used some competetors but keep coming back to PC. Their customer service is great and their quality in unmatched. I do, however, have one issue with Proper Cloth which is I think they should have free shipping as many on-line sellers do. I cringe each time I have to pay shipping. Other than that, i love them.
Your linen masks are amazing! I work at Centenary University in the equestrian department, and have struggled to find a mask that I feel safe in and can also do my very physical job. Your masks have been a game changer, high recommend!

I went to the show room in SoHo for my measurements done the first time around and then for the (free) adjustment / alteration after I got the shirt and had it laundered.
First off: Ask for Paul (Paul, if you're reading this; I'm sorry for the extra work but you did an awesome job). Paul helped me with my original measurements and with my adjustment. He is super helpful and very knowledgeable for filling in the gaps of what kind of customization is available for the shirts and for an idea of what direction to look in for any specific situation you have in mind (for the shirt). Paul was also able to help me with what kinds of adjustments I should consider (for example I was concerned with whether or not adjusting the chest and shoulders would affect one another and he was able to explain how).
When you're using the free alteration, they're not altering the shirt. They're actually just taking your adjusted measurements and making a new shirt for you (as far as I can tell).
I highly recommend going in to one of the showrooms for a fitting, if you're able to. They also have samples of the fabrics on site and more samples of styles (collars, cuffs, etc.) that you might not get a clear idea of from the website.
Proper Cloth Management: I came in today for an alteration without making an appointment and I brought a friend who was also getting a shirt made. Paul was the only person working and there were plenty of appointments lined up. He was very up front and honest about his availability and let us know when a good time would be to come back or that we could stick around and browse until he had an opening. We stuck around for awhile, and long story short: he deserves a raise or a bonus. This guy really looks out for the business.
They make it surprisingly simple to get a shirt with a perfect fit. I have four of their shirts now and they're fantastic. The fabrics are outstanding and I can make the shirts exactly the way I want them. I really love two pop over shirts I had made. There's nobody making shirts like this off the rack and even if they were they wouldn't fit me as perfectly as these shirts do. Really great!

This is a fantastic company. I've only ordered shirts from them online. You can tailor your shirts perfectly, and customize every aspect of your shirt. A really easy website, and the shirts are fantastic. My only caution, lengthen the standard length by an inch or two, beyond what the standard measurement indicates. I am getting all my shirts here now.
I've always had a tough time finding a dress shirt that fits. Broader chest and shoulders always meant billowy back and waist. Fitting waist meant tight shirt up top. I've actually ripped the back of a dress shirt by putting both of my arms forward.

Excellent service. Polite, friendly, professional, and knowledgeable. Fitting for a shirt took 30 minutes; I would recommend making an appointment. I have purchased 11 shirts across 6 different fabrics with no noticeable different in fit after several washes. I have purchased one suit and I am very pleased with the results. The fit and cut of the jacket bring out all the best parts of my body, as do the pants. I have had two fittings with different individuals, and both provided I high and consistent level of service.
I'd bought tailored shirts online before. While they tended to be better than run-of-the-mill shirts from traditional retailers, they were ultimately insufficiently better. I will begin by saying that I am blessed with a long (and solid) torso that simply does not wear off the rack. I have been wearing made-to-measure shirts and suits since college, with more bad than good experiences. Despite knowing my measurements and how to fit my body shape well, most of the "other" online MTM shops fail to accurately hit my measurements on the third, let alone first, attempt. For example, I wear my neck (collar) "back" (causes a "roll" beneath the collar that not only looks unsightly, it affects the shoulder slope and profile of a shirt). After several years of orders, my local haberdasher has nailed it; however, the shirts cost $300 and up and take 6-8 weeks. Enter Proper Cloth.
I took advantage of Proper Cloth's shirt guarantee on my first order, which, to my surprise, I received in less than 2 weeks. The shirt fit better than 95% of my other "online" MTM shirts. I am a big guy and have always had challenges finding dress shirts that fit me properly. Usually they fit my neck but are too big in the middle and the sleeves too short. I tried Proper Cloth. Sent in my measurements and was really happy with the first shirt I got. I was a little short in the sleeve and a little tight in the mid section, but that was because those were the measurements I sent. I did a second order and adjusted the measurements and they made the shirts EXACTLY as I had modified them. The quality of the shirts was great and the sizing was excellent. I will DEFINITELY be using them again. I am getting ready to put my next order in. All of that for only a marginal amount more than the store. THANKS Proper Cloth!!!

Before Proper Cloth I always used to struggle to get shirts not only with the correct fit but with long enough sleeves. Now not only are the sleeves long enough but I can have custom options like having a slightly wider cuff on my 'watch' side.

Have tried a few custom shirt places local and online. Proper Cloth was the first that worked with me over the phone with multiple refits and returns to get my pattern and size just right for no charge over the initial first shirt price. The fabrics are great with a huge amount of choices. New fabrics come in monthly. Value is good as far as custom goes. I highly recommend Proper Cloth.
I have made several purchases from Proper Cloth and have been very pleased with the fit and finish of all the shirts. One had a seam that came loose after a couple washings and without question a replacement was made and sent in less than a week.
My experience with Proper Cloth, has been as follows, I first tried using the smart measurement, where you answer a questionnaire, the shirt didn't fit well at all. I sent photos to their customer support, and the next cut fit significantly better, however I have very square shoulders and my neck posture is far back, so these tweaks took a few tries. All in all I have gotten four shirts of the same size, and quality seems to be on point. The materials feel awesome so far. I would recommend going through this if you don't fit the off-the-rack size which I don't. I get a lot of compliments on my shirts in the office, which is unusual because fashion isn't really a big thing for folks where I work.
If you want a truly great fit, this is the way to get it. Their online application is very helpful in getting you close. When you order your first shirt, they will remake it for you, if the fit is not perfect, provided you return the original shirt. Can't do better than that. Finally, the choice of fabrics is very good, and the price is better than you will do for equal quality in a men's clothing store and a lot less than you will do at your local custom tailor.
Buying shirts off the wall (retail) doesn't make sense to me anymore in today's day when you can get a perfectly fitting shirt and design it to the way you want it to look. Saves alterations cost and delay.

Terrible customer service. I made a mistake online in ordering, and emailed to try to change the order. Even though the shirts had not been made yet they said "sorry it has gone to production so we cannot change it now". To be clear, THEY HAD NOT MADE THE SHIRTS YET. The "Gone to production" excuse makes no sense. It is not the 1920's. All they would have to do is make a quick phone call. And this was my first order, so I can only imagine it gets worse from there. The result is I spent over $300 on shirts I am not going to wear. A "custom" shirt website that has no ability to provide customer service is a flawed business model.
I have three of these wonderful shirts now, with more soon on the way. The service, quality, fit, and value are exceptional. Highly recommended. Never buy off the rack again.

I have purchased many shirts from Proper Cloth for my husband but I am disappointed in the quality as these three shirts have completely ripped in the sleeve in the same spot. Truly disappointed in this product. I also sent a note to the company through Facebook Messenger and never heard back... this is not a great customer experience
