Our cavailer kind charles puppy loves Fog City Dogs! We left him for overnight boarding on two occasions so far when we needed to travel and both times our pup was happy, well groomed and seemingly excited to go back. What a great god care place! I'd like to highly recommend it.
This was the first time I boarded my dogs. You had wonderful reviews and I could not say that I was more pleased. I enjoyed getting their report cards and am so glad everything went well. The play group was very good for Olivia since she is a puppy and does not get a lot of exposure to other dogs. Thanks for your kindness and caring. I am sure they will be back.
Re: Daycare. Love taking my new puppy to Fog City Dogs! The staff was extremely responsive via Yelp and then telephone at late evening and early morning hours. Everyone is extremely friendly and professional and I can trust my young puppy with them while I'm away at work.
They are doing a great job while my mom's dog needs short notice boarding.

After some unexpected twists and turns on a camping road trip we found ourselves near San Fran with two dogs and wanted to see the city. Fog City was extremely helpful and kind and even contacted our out of state vet to get the records they needed. They were above and beyond attentive and kind to our very anxious dog who struggled with the separation to say the least. We would recommend them to anyone in the area. They give quality affordable service we felt confident in.

I've used the services at Fog City Dogs for both of my pups regularly over the course of the years. One is a Giant Breed puppy and is working on her social skills and the other is a late middle aged rescue who just likes to nap and get pets. Fog City has been more than accommodating with the needs of both dogs, and always sends report cards, and makes phone calls with updates when we have left them in overnight boarding. Working on a specific bit of training with your pup? Let them know and they will utilize it while they have that dog. I also really appreciate their ability to recognize when mistakes have been made, their honesty surrounding them and their professional focus on making it better for the future. Stuff happens, and it's all too rare that a business is willing to say "I messed up, let's make it right". I still use Fog City on a weekly basis and will continue to do so in the future. Love this place.
Kosmo s first day at Fog City turned out great. We ve only had Kosmo for 1 week from Family Dog Rescue (another wonderful group) and he has extreme anxiety with strangers especially with men. Of course a very nice guy was at the counter when we arrived so Kosmo went nuts. But the Fog City Guy (didn t get his name but he is tall with a beard) was AMAZING. So patient and kind we got Kosmo settled and he had a great day. Fog City is clean, bright, the dogs are happy and well cared for. I bought a 10 pack deal (makes $ sense) and plan to have Kosmo back frequently.

This is a great place for your best friend. Staff and management have earned the five stars, and are wonderful to all of the dogs put under their care. But don't trust my opinion; your dog is the better judge. My dog is always excited to see her friends, both 2 & 4 legged, at Fog City. There's never an ounce of hesitation to hop out of the car and go to the gate...unlike going to the vet. She's been going for over a year and I never worry about her well-being and safety. If you are looking for a trustworthy and skilled doggie day care, I highly recommend Fog City Dogs.
I love Fog City Dogs. They know my dog, always take great care of her, and provide updates when I pick her up. She s always excited to see them when she arrives. We ve done some doggy daycare, but mostly dog lodging when we go out of town. I know I never have to worry when I leave her here. Plus they ve got dog cams, so I can check in anytime I need to while I m gone.
I've been taking my (new) 2 year old rescue here for two months. My most important observation: my dog leans in / tugs, with tail in wag-mode, at every arrival, and he comes home tail in wag-mode and exhausted.
Also...
1) People: Staff at FCD genuinely enjoy being with and caring for dogs. I see that in how they interact with my dog, and how they often show off other dogs in their care and discuss breeds and personalities.
2) Regular updates: Melissa/staff provide updates on my dog's activities and behavior, and let me know which dogs are particular pals with mine.
3) Special situation care: In one instance, my dog was nipped by another while playing - a very minor injury to his ear. I was notified quickly and told the staff was on it. When I picked my dog up, the nip was tended and cleaned, and my dog seemed totally unbothered, tail on wag.
4) Partnership (training): Melissa/staff shares with me areas to help my dog along in training and partners on those focus areas.
I brought my senior citizen pup to Fog City for both day-care and boarding. The staff were fantastic, always treating her with care and showering much love on her. Everyone is very friendly and professional.
This place is amazing. The staff is so friendly, knowledgeable, and caring. I adopted my 3 year old dog about 3 months ago and I truly believe Fog City Dogs has played a big part in helping her to feel comfortable and adjusted to her new life. The staff members have been so loving to her and I know she is in good hands. She runs in the door so excited to see her doggy and human BFF's!

Mona, our 6 month old French bulldog puppy was boarded at Fog City Dogs Shafter ave location. Upon boarding her we were a bit nervous as it was our first time being apart. Her stay was a total of 5 days and we were able to see live updates of her playing on instagram which was great. Additionally, Nate was kind enough to send some pics of her via email upon request.
However, when picking Mona up within a few minutes we quickly realized she had a nasty upper respiratory infection. Her first night back with us she would break out into fits of coughing every hour or so. While I understand it is out of the businesses control if a dog gets sick- I do expect to be updated immediately. After following up with Fog City it was said that no one noticed her being sick which is a major red flag to me. Either #1 no one actually noticed and she wasn t under agreed supervision #2 someone noticed and didn t report it. Again I feel like I m a fairly reasonable person- it s not uncommon for a dog to be sick , but all I ask is to be informed of my pets health. In short we will not be returning to Fog City. Take this review with a grain of salt as there are many great reviews - this was just our personal experience.
Our pup came home very tired and happy so we know he had a great day. The staff was very friendly and caring toward our little guy and us. The only thing I didn t like is that we were not allowed to view the facilities to see where he would be and what he would be doing and we did not get a report at the end other than he was a good dog. Otherwise, would totally do it again and definitely recommend.
Affordable and take awesome care of my dog! They have webcams where you can see your puppy during the day.
I have nothing but praises for Fog City Dogs! My baby girl, Chandler, has been going to FCD since April and she always comes home happy, tired, and ready for a nap! Melissa, Logan, and the rest of the team are all professional, accommodating, super helpful, and so loving of my Chandler. They take amazing care of her, especially when I boarded her for 10 days earlier this month. They went above and beyond by sending me photos, videos, and report cards while I was away. They helped me relieve my anxiety of being away from my baby girl. Whenever I go to dog parks, I make it a point to let other dog-parents know about FCD, their amazing services, and topnotch staff. FCD, thank you for making my baby girl happy and well-loved! She loves you back :)

Excellent service both for me and our dog. I was nervous about boarding our 2year old pup for the first time. The staff walked me through their plans and I selected one (Silver) that made sense for us. It was affordable and our dog was happy and healthy when we picked her up a week after dropping her off.

This is where my dog comes when he goes on vacation. And just like me, he's not ready to go home when its over. He often needs a vacation from his vacation though because he plays so much and gets so much exercise, he's tired for a week.
My two boys seemed to have had a good time while at Fog City Dog. They even got a report card after their first night there. It was very nice to hear that my fur babies were taken care of when they couldn t be with the family.
We boarded our dog McGee for a week over the July 4th holiday and he had the best time! The staff took such great care of our pup and he loves his pack at Fog City Dogs!

This place is awesome! I was desperate for a grooming appointment for my dog and they were able to squeeze me in same day! I have a husky/lab mix that was shedding his coat for the first time and he look RUFF haha but really...he looked bad. They were able to clean him up and even gave me suggestions on what type of brush I should use for him. I appreciate Fog City Dogs and will continue doing business with them!

The staff does an excellent job of entertaining the pups during play and an even better job of making sure the pups individually have a happy and healthy stay! We only used this place once for doggy daycare as we were traveling through the area but I would recommend it. We appreciated that they showed us the interior of the place where our dog would be. Clean and spacious. Our dog seemed to have had a good time when we picked him up and was nice and tired which is what you want!
We boarded our 2 dogs for an extended period (5 nights, 6 days) and they had a bit of a time adjusting. They wouldn t eat, they were pooping in their room. The staff were very accommodating, trying different techniques to make them comfortable. The team was also very communicative with us, providing detailed progress reports, and taking time to talk with me when I called. Our guys survived and had fun!
Our pups stayed last minute with them for a medical emergency and our dogs had a great time! One of my dog has health issues and they were very careful with him. We would recommend them to anyone!
First time i had taken Murphy to that location for playtime, and overnight. He seemed happy when i picked him up, and would take him there again.

For day care, they are the best .I am not a fan of boarding here only because there is not a human on site all night long. If they ever change that I would give 5 stars.

First time Ive boarded our 8month old puppy. It was a hard decision because he is so young but also because we will miss him daily. However, we had an emergency where our ceiling was collapsing due to water damage from our neighbor. I yelped many boarding facilities and found Fog City Dogs to be very popular. They have been awesome to our pup and us! I would definitely recommend.

Great place for the dog! Handlers really care about the dogs and I've never had a problem with boarding or day care in either location. They're the only ones who can cut her nails. I'm a little sad about their recent price increases and package "deals" and it did affect whether she boarded there or with my friends the last time I needed overnight care. I fully understand the need to raise prices, especially in SF, though. For those people who don't like the temperament test-um, don't you want them to know the personality of all the dogs to avoid problems?
They love my pit bull and she loves them back. She loves doggy day camp and no issues boarding either.
After our planned dog sitter canceled on us we were on the hunt for quality care for Christmas week. Found Fog City Dogs and Nate was very clear that they were full but wanted to set our dog Jaxx up in system just in case, including a visit. And then there was a cancellation! Jaxx is a senior dog with weak hind legs. He eats homemade food with several pills a few times a day. Fog City Dogs has no issues with his needs. I got a few pictures of him along with report cards emailed to me regularly. It made our family vacation easier to enjoy knowing he was being taken care of by a good group.
Fog City Dogs is an excellent business for doggie day care and for boarding. Our home was destroyed by the CZU wildfire in August forcing us to relocate to a San Francisco apartment located on the third floor of an apt bldg. We knew that 2 of our three dogs could handle the stairs, but our third dog Jake who is 17 years young wouldn t be able because of his age and his chronic arthritis. Fog City Dogs was the first business we called and they didn t hesitate telling us that our Jake could board starting immediately. We have never regretted our decision.
The staff are both attentive and kind to our Jake and they keep us informed regularly of any issues or problems Jake is having. I am certain Jake will miss the personal attention and affection he had received from the employees.
All of the staff I have dealt have been helpful and pleasant. One employee who is a real stand out is Nate. He was able to made Jake more comfortable when Jake developed a problem with hotspots.
I am also grateful to the owners who generously helped defray boarding costs for us as well as other fire victims like Jake. I understand they also helped other dogs whose owners were away as first responders.
We are so grateful to Fog City Dogs for their providing a home for our Jake while we worked to get our lives back on track. Thank you!
I love this place - we bring our dog for daycare regularly, and she adores the staff (which is saying something, she really doesn't like most people). Fog City dogs is great!
My good boy always has so much fun at Fog City Dogs on Shafter Ave. The staff is always wonderful and he loves them.
A great place that I trust to leave my precious furbaby for a few hours or for the night if needed. She is very anxious but I know they are gentle with her and give her time to warm up to them. She also gets great social time with the other doggies there.
I finally found a groomer in Portland around 2009 who knew how to handle my sheltie s thick coat, and my dog was always happy when I picked him up (which was not always the case at other groomers). When I moved to SF in 2010, I was expressing my disappointment that I would have to find another groomer my groomer surprised me by letting me know that her mentor, Lancy Woo, had a grooming business in SF, VIP Grooming! I have been bringing my dog here since I moved to the city. Lancy and her staff, who are all amazing, take such great care of my dog. He loves going to VIP and always looks great when I pick him up. I m so grateful for them.
Great place to have your dog cared for, they are experienced and they do a great job acclimating your dog into a group that suits them. They offer a lot of grooming services for dogs as well and very competitive price packages for the city.

I've been lodging my Mini Schnauzer Dexter here for quite a while and have never had issues. Staff is friendly and Dexter usually comes home tired, which is a good thing. If he gets too dirty playing with other dogs, they often give him a complimentary wash/rinse before I pick him up, which is nice.
I was desperately searching for a place to board my dog for the (16 night) winter break after an airline decided to not let him fly with me. I came to Fog City Dogs with only a few days notice and they were able to get space for my dog quickly and efficiently even though I'd never used their services in the past. During the break I was floored by their ability to give me up-to-date report cards on my pup which put me at ease during the stressful days of vacation. This saved me big time and my dog LOVED his time there. We'll definitely be coming back in the near future for a few daytime play sessions (: !

The staff at FogCityDogs are friendly and professional. They answered all my questions and concerns. Nate scheduled my visit and the front desk ( forgot her name) provided me a tour of the facility. At the same time, my dog was being evaluated. I will be using their service in the future.
