It is worth going there but the vegetarian dish could be much more tasty
The oldest restaurant in Paris, next to a small house, the inventor of the guillotine lived on the left
Very authentic interior, reasonable menu set available.
I have been fortunate to have dinner there, and I think it is the best restaurant I have been able to dine to date. The decoration is incredible, with jewels and relics of many of the illustrious characters that have passed through this place for centuries. The food was exquisite, and the service impeccable. Totally recommended.
First of all, 35 minutes of waiting while you have a reservation, and having to insist on having a table is not normal.
We were very disappointed with the Procope, it is interesting only its history. In terms of food and service, it's a total flop.
The fat was poor, the toast and the fig jam too sweet.
The salmon was bland and the consistency / taste was nothing like fresh fish. (And the lemon too big)
The scallop and risotto dish was really too salty. The dish of fish, spinach and mushrooms was not good. Dry fish, very certainly industrial mushrooms given their taste and we are not talking about spinach.
Add to that cold servers and the combo is worse. I really do not recommend. The quality is not at all the prices.
We expected more for this kind of restaurant.
Everything was wonderful until the food came out! The historic site is noteworthy! The food is edible at best, very disappointing, especially given the build-up. Worst meal in our three weeks in France!
Very nice restaurant. If you book, ask for a table on the 1st floor.
Exceptional setting. Nice card. A charm full of history
The Procope, we go there as much for its history and its decorations as for its traditional cuisine - onion soup, chicken in the pot, blanquette, calf's head. For dessert, tiramisu "Procopio" or Paris-Brest. The service is impeccable. The place is very popular with tourists, so it is recommended to book your table before coming.
A lovely restaurant with a deep history rooted in the fact that it has been a coffee house for French visionaries of times past, you ll see the walls adorned with links to that pst from quotations to memorabilia.
Stop in for a coffee or a quick bit to eat and bathe in the history!
Good food but nothing spectacular. We went because the guide recommended it and we were disappointed. Very expensive, very slow service and little or not at all attentive. The chef's special dish, well, although they sell it as having a Michelin star and from our point of view it is not so bad. We have eaten much better dishes.
As I say, in the 6 days that we have been in Paris it has been the place where they have served us the worst and the most expensive it has been. Not worth it. The food good but nothing spectacular. We have gone because the guide recommended it and it has disappointed us. Very expensive, very slow service and little or nothing attentive. The chef's special dish, well, although they sell it as it has a Michelin star and from our point of view is not so much. We have eaten much better dishes. The place is very nice, however, the bathrooms are very unattended. I found water for everything and an extendable towel distributed throughout the bathroom. As I say, in the six days we have been in Paris it has been the place where they have served us the worst and the most expensive has been. Not worth it.
A place where you enjoy coffee & desserts in Sant German
The service was going so fast it felt like they qanted you out of there as fast as possible, amd the food was basic and flavourless, the dessert was decent but the place is totally oberblown
A bit British in the heart of St Germain Odeon. Very nice rooms including private rooms. Impeccable service and fine cuisine
Very nice and with a lot of history. Accessible prices for the type of experience.
Exhale, exhale, exhale
You do not have anything special, the same items are of the same quality in many restaurants, which deserves the journey.
Good restaurant with traditional French cuisine. Formal and very elegant environment. Historic Paris cafe
Beautiful place! Historic restaurant, decoration in its own juice, the service is impeccable , and congratulations to the chef !!!
Delicious food, amazing atmosphere! This place is a journey back in time !!!
Was really excited to eat here , I had heard great things about the French onion soup but in the end there was to much cheese and it made I and my sister ill ,we also had the cheese plater it was so hot in there that the cheese started to melt and started to really smell bad ...but the wine and bread were great!
I highly recommend this establishment just a delight and the quality of products nothing to say the hospitality and level of a star restaurant we bring you a particular atention really well done and hat to the owner of the establishment and the team.
Thank you for making us travel
Very old and famous restaurant in Paris. The dishes are good, tasty, but not as perfect as the atmosphere. The stuff is friendly. Prices are not very high. I enjoyed my evening there. But if you want to have dinner there, you d better book a table, otherwise you will stay in a queue for more than half an hour. Nice for romantic evening for two.
Nice atmosphere, professional service with smiles, pure tastes, sweet pepper with pollock and sauce took one star. Anyway worth to visit in Paris, classical with quality.
A unique French gastronomic experience, onion soup is an excellent option for starter and then a lighter dish. (think carefully about the combination of your order, as the amount of food is plentiful) the desserts are a perfect ending, (it matters a lot to know some rules of etiquette, eg after choosing your dishes and drinks, close the menu and wait for the waiter) a thousand LEAVES dessert FOR SURE AND THE BEST.
The receptionist gentleman couldn t find my name on the reservation list and asked me how I made a reservation. I told him that I reserved a table on the website of the restaurant. Then, he searched again and still couldn t find my name. He asked me again how I made my reservation. I told him the same. He still couldn t find my name even when I spelled it out. Only after I showed him a confirmation e-mail that the restaurant sent me could he find my name. I don t understand why it was so difficult.
Apart from this, everything was perfect.
Dinner always so good ..... by cons noisy tourists and inconsiderate breaks the atmosphere
An emblematic place
I think it is one of the first restaurants in Paris, from the time of Louis XIV
Beautiful old restaurant in St. Germain with interesting choices. Get a reservation if you're dining with more than two people, otherwise not much of a wait.
A bit overrated, but great atmosphere and decent food. Overpriced for the quality.
The food was ok nothing crazy for the price service inexistant we where outside at the terrasse and the poor waiter had to many table to care. You can find way better in paris avoid this area it s a tourist trap
The reception is kind. It is not as lively and clear as the restaurant I have been to.
Taste .. Okay with the Asian lady who sat next to me for the first time
Secondly, it was so popular with the French ladies that they might have felt the staff relatively.
You must visit this place even if to imagine that you are sitting in the same place where Voltaire, Rousseau, Napoleon and Benjamin Franklin once had lunch. The food is absolutely amazing, every dish was delicious. We had a mix up with Filet Mignon meaning pork for the French by default while English speakers expect beef but that is my fault for not researching. Skip their prefixed menus and specials and go for the French classics, you won't be disappointed. We had foie gras, onion soup, seared tuna, great escargot and pork filet mignon (I don't eat pork though but potatoes from that dish were great). For the amazing level of food the price was very reasonable because it's not a tourist trap, we saw locals eat there also.
Worst dining experience so far in Paris. Service was horrible. On top of being really slow I had to ask for butter 3 times before getting it. My girlfriend had to send her plate back twice because the filet mignon looked and tasted like leather. They even had the gall to charge us almost 7eu for tape water. I would not recommend this place to anyone regardless of its historical character.
We shared an excellent lunch, warm welcome, very attentive service, a magnificent place, thank you for this excellent lunch. An unforgettable moment, a beautiful address that deserves a visit for a lunch ... to do again
This Saturday, with 5 friends, total respect for the hygiene measures of customers and servers, how not to find with pleasure the Procope, and all his team, in a whirlwind of flavors that does not lack in his mastery of his dishes, desserts, and other exercises. An undisguised joy, I would point out the excellent work of the mistress of desserts, World champion of the specialty for having spoken about it with the manager, and who, with her art, stands out in this area. Everything is on hand to make sure you have a good time. The plates are served hot, to respect the heat of the dishes. The waiters are extremely kind. But it is not only a restaurant but the oldest restaurant in Paris, you will find anecdotes, paintings, sculptures that have spanned the centuries through the bend of the personalities of their time. Must do. Large space, where several rooms are provided. The Procope ? .. French refinement.
This has been said to be an old establishment. I am not sure if the hanger steak is that great. The fries are so so. The price didn't seem to match the quality but it tasted okay. Would have been probably better with braised beef and coq au vin and salmon instead.
Beautiful place, it's like a palace or a museum. A little expensive (32 menu + starter dish), but the dishes are sufficiently consistent and good. Nevertheless, seeing the price, the setting and the reputation of the place, we expect a French service upscale, yet the overloaded servers are very fast, quite stressful, do not taste the wine and run everywhere. slaloming between the tables ... it's a shame ...
Pretentious and tasteless food with terribly slow service. The reception lady was fast at least but downhill from there. I don't blame the waiters as they're incredibly busy downstairs - just not enough of them. A screaming impatient baby with parents who kept trying to get their attention barely got to order.
The menu took over 15 mins to come. And ordering was painful after that.
Didn't bother to eat the dessert after the leatherlike steak, and what rather tasteless veal. Hot chocolate tasted good...just cold.
It just looked like a restaurant taking advantage of the immigrants working them like slaves while the customers pretend to be fancy.
Husband wanted to visit for the historical significance. I guess I know why Voltaire had 40 coffees a day - he was probably waiting that long for service.
Well, where do I start.
I search for this place because I wanted to slip way back in time, to sip a Latte in the first coffee shop in Paris, probably the world, where you sit at a table and coffee is served to you in porcelain cups... this place makes you feel like in the 17th century, rubbing elbows with Voltaire, Diderot, Rousseau... and countless nobody's like me who have simply romance and love in our hearts, and want to feel somewhat like a somebody for a few hours in our lives.
If there is only ONE coffee shop you can visit while in gay Paris, go, God, go, and seek this gem in the Love quarter 6ieme., lucky 13, rue de l'Ancienne Comedie - because life is mostly one big joke!
Maybe once upon a time was a great restaurant but it has been transformed on a tourist playground with so-so food and so-so service
wonderful place! unique atmosphere. The oldest cafe in Paris, known since the great French revolution. these walls remember Robespierre and other leaders. places must be booked in advance, in the evening there is no room for the apple prices are expensive. for dessert I recommend profiteroles: balls of choux pastry stuffed with ice cream, poured with hot chocolate
Had an awesome afternoon in the cafe. Met a wonderful French history teacherand had the luxury of time to discuss the revolution and modern day politics. It was truly our pleasure and will return to this authentic cafe. Xx
We went to Procope to celebrate our daughter's 10 years and we were received there with great attention. The service was perfect and his birthday was not forgotten: candle on his dessert and a souvenir gift when he left. We ate very well. It will be a really good memory for the three of us. Thank you all for this beautiful moment!
Beautiful. It seems to be one of the oldest bars in Paris if not the oldest.
Beautiful place of history where writers and poets came to draw inspiration such as the well-known "Robespierre"
Excellent place with a lot of tradition. Typical French food.
Very nice experience, we were transported both by the historical aspect and by the delicious dishes and desserts that the restaurant offers. The staff were super pleasant and very professional. This place is just magical to redo.
Iconic place, succulent traditional cuisine and very high quality service in a setting steeped in history!
A cafe with a long history known as the "Revolution Cafe". Toilets are not for men's/lady's but Citoyens/Citoyennes. The food comes a lot.
They have ignored my two order throughout the night. Meals were good but they are a bit ignorant and arrogant...
A magnificent setting with very welcoming and caring staff. We feasted !
Poor service and flavorless food. Very disappointed.
Disappointed by this restaurant. Ok for the frame. Not ok for the meal. It's expensive and not excellent, I'll even say anything. Professional staff.
Although the service was not the best and the amounts were a bit small, not to mention the price, it was really delicious and it was quite worth it.
Superb mythical place, where we eat succulent dishes with great staff.
High-class food
Standard service
Highly recommended
All very rich, there are offers on the Internet with good value for money
Only long time before builded. The servive frim waiters were very rude. The taste of dishes were very common. Only red wines were good. Because it is Framce.
Beautiful setting! Generous portion and reasonable price.
The chef kindly agreed to prepare a pepper sauce that was not on the menu. I will come back on
The place is chick, it has a nice vintage decoration and cozy atmosphere. It has some historical value which makes it interesting to visit. The service is good, our food arrived pretty quickly. Make a reservation so you don't have to wait for a table. 4 out of 5 because the food is good but not amazing and it's a bit pricey. Pictures of the duck breast and the French onion soup:
Lack a bit of class compared to his fame. The dishes are good
Very nice restaurant, very nice waiter, very good meal, an option of more ... very hot plate
Excellent and abundant food with good presentation and good price. Family atmosphere in pleasant attention.
A trip to the past. A service from another era. The dishes are excellent. The desserts are exceptional!
Upscale restaurant with nice and cozy interiors. The food and atmosphere are great. A table reservation is recommended.
A little disappointed, the chicken casserole has 24 , it is very chet for 3 pestles swimming in a sauce without taste.
Reception of the reception very sympathetic but after what despair !! . 45 minutes of waiting between the starter and the main dish, the main dish accompanied by a shabby salad and above all do not ask for mustard to accompany your meat or an additional glass of wine because it is still 15 to 20 minutes wait. As for the server on the 1st floor, he should change his job !!!! How sad in his way of serving customers.
A place for tourists who will leave with a beautiful image of hospitality in France especially do not change anything you are on the right track
It is worth a visit, it is part of the history of Paris and even inside it has remained so, for those who have a vintage soul like me, it is the top, for those who want modernity, new style, design etc..will not be his liking. The owners are of Italian origin, I am attaching only a few goodies from the menu, to entice you.
Amaizing food in still reasonable price.
Place with tradition.
Staff very nice and friendly.
You should make a reservation to get a table.
Trap Tourist! A real heartbreak to see such a beautiful place in the hands of people who have abandoned all sense of their profession, to serve an infamous overtaxed cuisine. So many talented and respectful people and their cooks could do better!
The site is very beautiful and the service very good. But the price seems high for quality. I do not think I repeat
Nice atmosphere, very interesting historical value but the food was very bad. Would not recommend to my worst enemy. Come here if you want to ruin your vacation. There are great bakery s near buy and other restaurants.
Family meal. My wife ordered some oysters and had a very bad night .... For the other guests, quality of the meals correct, nothing more. The brewery lives largely on its reputation and therefore tourists. I do not recommend.
