Always great and friendly service. Definitely spendy, but a very nice place to have a fancy date or celebratory dinner. If you are looking to go on a Friday night, I recommend making reservations for 5pm, you'll get a window seat before the crowd arrives.

Their service is fantastic, the food is delicious, the view is second to none in the city, and their happy hour is actually quite reasonable and the portions are enormous. This place is worth going to once in awhile.

It's a Portland tradition for a reason. The happy hour is legendary, mostly because it allows us plebes the chance to experience the good life. The view from the tallest building in Portland is breathtaking. The mountains and rivers that make this region beautiful are on full display and with full effect.

Go on a weekday afternoon when the sun is out and the crowds aren't for the best experience. But be sure to give yourself plenty of time, because something this well known is also very well attended.

We hosted a rehearsal dinner at Portland City Grill and it was exceptional! Our guests (56 people) loved the incredible view and the food was absolutely delicious. We played a video & there were no AV issues. The entire night was wonderful! Thank you to Ana, Terri & the other staff that helped make it a truly memorable night.

Went in just a little after opening on New Year's Day. Sat at bar and felt a little overlooked. It took a while for the bartender's to ask what we wanted to drink and then again what we wanted to eat. Once we ordered, the delivery of the food took a little longer than expected. The quality of the drinks and food was Top Notch.
The view at Portland City Grill is outstanding and the atmosphere is warm. I do recommend Portland City Grill.

Food was delicious. Drinks were above average. We visited on Friday night and it was pretty busy, but we were encouraged to grab drinks in the bar while waiting for our reservation time. The service in the bar was non-existent. We waited over 30 minutes with nobody coming to offer drinks, though many members of the wait staff passed by. Once we were seated, the service was excellent and the views were amazing. I'd definitely visit again, but I would sit AT the bar if you want service and it's available.

The view was fabulous. The food, not so much. The cioppino and chicken Marsala were way too sweet. We mentioned this to the waiter but it didn t seem to matter. We were very disappointed and we ll go to a different restaurant for our next special occasion.

Service was mediocre at first our family was seated in a small table that was uncomfortable. After changing tables our waiter became more attentive and friendly.Overall the food was really good with exception of the steak being a little dry.Towards the end what I assumed was the manager went all out and allowed us to use a private dining room so that we could take pictures.

Why put a 4 star restaurant up in the sky? The view. Even if it's overcast and Mt. Hood isn't visible, the city view is worth it day or night. Kinda pricey spot, but worth it.

I would walk in with a suit or flip flops and not feel out of place, dinner reservations recommended.

So, Portland City Grill; You've earned this lackluster response with enthusiasm, sadly. I cannot believe how disappointingly you've managed to combine one of the most epic perpectives of Portland physically, while seemingly having customer service comparable to Home Depot (even when asked directly, at times which weren't busy on a mundane Tuesday night)! What a waste of my time and your space! Let me be clear; I went with a friend, and we sat at the bar because the premium tables, which have an unimpeded view from the 30th floor overlooking Portland's, rarely seen, South-Easterly cityscape (customers play 'musical tables' and regularly pounce on openings before the staff has had an opportunity to remove previously used space!)! When we sat at the bar, we had to repeatedly all for each cup of coffee to be refilled beginning with the first, which took 25 minutes to get someone who was apparently permitted to serve coffee to take time to inquire as to what we might want! That time elapsed from when we received our menus, not from when we joined the bar! And, upon taking our order, my friends ordered the most expensive glass of Pinot Noir on their menu ($30), which usually I would elect to leave out of my review. But, despite our request, and several attempts to gain attention, which we tried everything from simply asking verbally, to getting up and heading for the restroom, to moving our empty glasses an stagnant menus back to the other edge of the bar in fruitless hopes to simply place our order. We ended up having to ask four different employees, before one stopped to help us, the first three said, "I'll let the bartender know," or something equivalent, although, obviously nothing changed! We ordered more drinks and dessert, our order was said to take 25 minutes, for the freshly baked cookies had a 'fine-print' warning accompanying it! WOW, would 25 minutes have seemed AMAZINGLY, instead we were still waiting over 45 minutes later! Some time, less than one hour from when n we placed our request, our dessert showed up, which allowed us to get coffee refills, more sugar, and to go boxes, because we weren't THAT IGNORANT! Who knows how much longer we would've waited had we not planned out our exit. Gratefully, we still tipped 30% because this meal was my friend's treat! They wouldn't have gotten over 10% from myself, had I been taking the cheque! Have a great existence PCG, I won't be returning, unless it's to take some photographs from a window seat and leave without asking for help!

PCG had the most spectacular view of the sunset (after the rain)...food was delicious...and the music (live pianist) was awesome! Overall, our daughter's (Maya Somera-Overly) 28th birthday celebration was amazingly memorable!

We love the food here. Service was ok... slow. We arrived at 4 with reservations but our table wasn't ready. Took quite a while to get drinks and food too. But when we got them both were tasty & that view is something quite beautiful

The service was fantastic, and the food was cooked to order. However, the cut of meat I received was lower quality for a $70.00 dish. Very tough and chewy. Views were really incredible.

The view is great and service was great as well. But the reason for the 5 stars? The calamari was the best on the earth. If you really like calamari this is your place. We started eating before I could even take a picture. I had a seafood entree which was good but not great or excellent. Each piece was about as big as a baseball. For $48 my seafood entree was a small portion and mostly rice.

Great atmosphere and as many have said, you're really paying for the fine dining experience and a great view of the area around you. I wasn't as impressed with the options on the menu and my partner was not happy with the quality of what he ordered, but this will go on our list of places to take out-of-town friends and family for special occasions.

Got there late (had a reservation) but they were so understanding and I just sat at the bar while they found a table for me. It took a long time to finally get a table buuuut it was worth it. The lamb was so soft and cooked very well. It was very expensive but considering the quality of food and service worth it. Had a beautiful view of the city. Definitely would go again.

Excellent service, great food, and, of course, the view is lovely. We went on a weekday afternoon at 1:00 and had no trouble procuring a table at the window. I d heard it was pricey but honestly, there are a lot of options. If you want wagu then you are going to pay for it but that s the same anywhere. I highly recommend a stop here when in Portland.

I'm in food coma.. Good food and great atmosphere! Ate a few items from the happy hour- poutine, ceviche, pork sliders, Mac and cheese, sushi roll, and didn't stop there but should have. Got the 12 later chocolate cake and bread pudding. Delicious! Favorite part of the meal.

A great place to pick for an upscale dinner out in PDX. The view is definitely one of a kind in Portland and is exceptional in the evening. The food is excellent, top notch seafood. You will pay for it though; definitely an expensive meal.

Still love the PCG. It's changed names and faces over the years but I like this version. Staff is wonderful, fist bump to all of you.
You must go on Friday or Saturday evenings, Mac Potts (musician) is just a complete pleasure. I hesitate to recommend Fri or Sat nights on purely selfish reasons... it's already crowded (for good reason) and who wants more people to steal my seats? JK ;) Come one and all. And stuff Mac's jar while you are at it.

Undoubtedly the best service I have ever received in my entire life. This restaurant is the Space Needle of Portland but with much better service and 10x better food. The steamed clam appetizer is to die for. Five out of Five stars without a second thought. Its worth waiting the 20-30 minutes beyond your reservation for a window seat. Incredible

I bring guests from out of town here for the happy our at night. First come first serve seating, and if you get lucky with a window seat you have the best view of the city at night.

Highly recommended.

(Summer time tends to be packed at night it seems, just FYI)

The views were stunning the steak was horrible it was basically rare af and I had to send it back 3 times and I never send food back I usually suck it up and eat without complaining. But, this could not be ignored.

Great steak and views. Service good but felt rushed. Waiter asked if we wished to see desert menu, said yes but instead he brought me the bill. I held onto the bill and told him we wanted 2 coffees. He never came back to see if we wanted refills. I finally put the credit card out and he came right over.

Eh, not really all that it's cracked up to be. Bar is usually crowded so if you're going with more than 2 people looking to be at the bar be prepared to wait for openings. It's a nice view and atmosphere, but it's just way too overcrowded to be enjoyable lately.

Of all the restaurants in the Portland area, Portland City Grill has one of the best views of the area (think, Space Needle views in PDX)! After an elevator ride to the 30th floor, you are greeted with a panoramic view of the Willamette river, Mt. Hood, Mt. St. Helens and the city-scape. The food is a combination of Asian and American, with enough variety to satisfy most people. With a full bar and top shelf liquor, the knowledgeable bartenders are more than happy to deliver just about any drink.

Real attitude from the hostess about seating and the reservation, made well in advance for 6, requested a window and was told it was first come first seated at the window, arrived VERY early for the reservation only to be told they don't have any window tables that seat 6. And told with utter impatience and nasty attitude. We almost left right then!

Yummy

City Grill has been my go to spot for over a decade. 30th floor with great views on a clear day. Gets really crowded sometimes and everyone wants to sit on the window seats in the bar area so you constantly have people hovering over you asking when you going to leave or can they join you. And the others are always taking pics of the view over you so you've been warned. I always sit at the bar so no worries. Piano man plays on certain days and hours. Over the years the happy hour food quality and portions has gone down and price has gone up. I go with the jambalaya mostly. Bartenders and waitress are cool and can give you tips about the city. I mostly sit in the bar but have eaten plenty of meals there also. They have good fish dishes but steaks are only ok to me. If you have the chance, do the Sunday brunch...we have been there at 930 when it opens and sat in bar and ate throughout an entire football game and the brunch selection is awesome and more importantly all you can eat. Avoid the sugar mimosa if you really trying to eat a lot.

Excellent food, and decent service. I dislike that they ask you if it's a special occasion and when you request a window seat they state it's first come first serve. There were open tables by the windows no one was sitting at, but for some odd reason they were unavailable. I think I will spend my $200 dollars else where if they will not accommodate me and my wife on our 21st wedding Anniversary.

I booked this restaurant for the view and ended up celebrating becoming engaged that very day! The view was most definitely wonderful. We were able to get a window table near sunset so the lighting was pretty spectacular. Our server was not that great to begin with, but did improve over the course of the dinner (the only reason I didn't give 5 stars). I ordered the Copper River Salmon and my fiance order the Alaskan Halibut- both were delectable. I could say it's possible that it was the best Salmon I have ever had. We had a nice bottle of wine and the manager, Collin Petersen came by to congratulate us and explain the story behind Copper River Salmon- which was really great to hear. It's nice to know the staff is so knowledgeable. We later received a dessert with Congratulations! written on the plate which really rounded out a truly memorable day for us! We will definitely keep Portland City Grill in mind to visit again in the future!

Awful.

Awful.
We had a reservation for 6:45pm but I got the table only in 40 mins. Food was ok , nothing special but satisfactory

- The non-veggie style dishes seems well made.

- The non-veggie style dishes seems well made.
- My girlfriend eats meat. I am a Vegetarian...well, for the time being anyways. Veggie dishes were (NOT) that great (providing you know the difference between good or bad tasting veggie food).
- Something as simple as spring rolls (all veggies) they fell short of quality & taste. The rice paper was not properly soften. The veggies were so dry. They also did not roll the spring roll dish well because it started coming apart as you were eating it. (We are Vietnamese. This is a simple native dish). It is NOT worth $14.
- The under-kept and dirty restroom area definitely expressed to me that the place is going down hill.
- Honestly, I only gave the place 2 stars because of the view. It s beautiful at night.
- As a first time visit to Portland, we thought this place was a bit high class fancy dining. After dining there, we would have to say that it was a bit of a disappointment because of the slightly gloomy and lacking atmosphere (except the view). Also the upkeep to the place seems a bit under average. I m not sure if the food prices matches the quality of the restaurant.
- I would try looking up another restaurant, if you could, for a fancy & romantic night out.

My wife and I had a wonderful date night here. The atmosphere is great. The service was very good. The views of Portland are fantastic. The food is expensive, but worth it. My steak was cooked perfect the way I requested. My wife ordered some chicken, and it was also very flavorful. I am looking forward to sharing this experience with family and friends.
