The view of Portland from this restaurant is by far the best. There is a full bar where you can just hangout and have some drinks and snacks with your friends and family. Or you can get a table seat by the window and see the sunset while enjoying a perfectly cooked steak with delicious appetizers. The calamari was perfectly sauced and tender. The sushi roll was semi sweet and very fresh. Could taste the fatty salmon really well. The beef roast and pork loin were juicy and seasoned well. The mashed potatoes that it came with meshed well with it.

This was a very dark laid back type of restaurant when we visited. I'm not sure if it is normally like this or if they lift the shades so you can see the city but either way we enjoyed it. We went for happy hour which was great. We dined in the bar area which is seat yourself type of dining. We walked around the bar once before finding a nice seat. The food was great and the drinks were on point lol.

This is a good spot to see a view of Portland. The happy hour is the only time you want to go there because otherwise it's a little too pricey. Word of advice for staff--find an equal way to allow the happy hour guests to find a window seat. It is ridiculous that you can wait in the front of the line down by the elevators and still not get a seat. It should be first come first serve. Make only one elevator take us up at 4 and make it so there's a clear line and it doesn't turn into free for all. I think if it was an orderly process, everyone could get a chance to sit there if they decide to wait their turn.

If you are one of the lucky ones who gets those seats, it's worth it. Otherwise just turn around and try again another day since you pay a premium for the view. You can get cheaper drinks elsewhere.

Quite a busy location, but with probably the best view of the city for any restaurant. It can be hard to get window seats so be prepared to stake out a location and ask politely when people look ready to leave. And be prepared to still fight someone over those seats and be harassed by people wondering if you are leaving and if they can have your seats when you do get them. The happy hour was good though.

Went for happy hr. It was awesome! Packed with customers but without the the unbearable noise level. Amazing views of the city as the sun goes down! We had some perfectly fried waffles fries and the jambalaya was in point. Flavorful and just the right amount of spicy.
The pomegranate martini was good but my old fashioned was not the best I've had. I think it may have been made with seltzer water.
Highly recommend going and I will be back to try some dinner items.

Portland City Grill is the type of restaurant you want to go to for special occasions. With it's full view of the city and all of the bridges it is a very nice atmosphere for a date or to build a special memory. The problem is that you should NEVER GO HERE FOR A SPECIAL OCCASION.

See it is those special occasions where the dining room is packed and the staff gets frustrated and ruins the night. It starts at check-in. Although they have a fancy, high-tech seating system and a dedicated host/hostess to finesse it, they never do a good job at prioritizing customers.

They dont allow for you to request a window seat during making the reservation and suggest you show up early and request a window. When you get there, the angry and disheveled hostess will tell you, quite impatiently, to come back at your reservation time. When you get there for your reservation, you will find that people are not leaving the window seats and the restaurant has no idea how to deal with that.

So, you finally get a table and it has no view, is half booth, half chairs and is literally shared with the table next to you. Now your expensive, special occasion's dinner is community seating.....real special....

Then you start looking around and see they have tables reserved at the windows with no one in them (but they wouldn't let you reserve a window?). Then you see that 3-4 tables are just sitting there at the windows, already paid and with take-home boxes on their table because the frustrated and bottom-tier employees have no idea how to run the front of the house (the dining room for non-restauranteers).

Do you stay and spend $300-$800 on a romantic (community seating) dinner and champagne or do you express your dissatisfaction with the service, the reservation system and the waste of your time before you take your money (and your date) elsewhere?

I did the latter, --bought my bottle of Moet from the grocery store, made a romantic dinner at home and wrote this review. I will be back to Portland City Grill but I wont expect anything worthy of the prices they charge when I go. Also, no special occasions due to their own incompetence.

4-star review edited to 2-star due to complete lack of professionalism by the staff.

The food is high quality, the drinks are delightful, and if you are lucky, the view is the best. Be prepared to vie for a spot if you show up on the weekend for the bar. I've tried most of the items on the happy hour by now, all have been lovely. The only things I would change is the service when we sit at the bar has been pretty spotty (forgot to put in our food order, drinks left on the order counter until we asked for them, etc) but when we are at a table service is always top notch.

Food is good here and the view is breathtaking! With a 270 degree view of Portland from 30th floor, I expected somewhat more expensive food, but price is really reasonable. The staff are nice and let people move around and take pictures.

I was invited to a dinner meeting for work the first and only time I went to this place. It was very dark but nice unfortunately it was pouring down rain outside so the view was not good but I can image on a clear night its amazing. For an upscale restaurant I was not impressed with how crammed in the tables are. I don't like to hear everything the person next to me is talking about because we are sitting so close. My food was AMAZING and very expensive I would never go here if I was paying on my own.

Excellent food at any time. Their happy hour has a more affordable pricing with quality foods. Their regular menu is different then the happy hour one. The full menu is worth the premium price.

PCG is a local staple with a nicely priced l happy hour that has generous portions and well seasoned food. Know that tables are first come first serve without a host to seat you so it can be challenging to find a seat at times. Great view from a lot of tables and you can even sit at a piano with live music. Solid event space for up to 120 people.

Wow!

One of the best views in Portland (30 floors up) Food is good but a little spendy, restaurant is reservation only but bar has booth seating as well if you don't have| a reservation. Parking is basement and cost extra and you pay when you leave. I think we paid 5.00.. It gets very busy so be prepared for a possible wait. But that view!!

Awesome happy hour in the bar. Only problem is finding seating. It is al out always packed. But if you can get a seat by a window, it's an amazing view, day or night. Average to high'ish prices on food and drink. Restaurant side is just plain old expensive

The real thing to see here is the view, which is fantastic. The service was very good as well. They decorated the ceiling with dropped wood beams which makes the whole thing lower, a bit odd for me ( I'm six foot two inches tall). The food was good, not great but good. Very nice place for a celebratory lunch or dinner.

Love this place :) great service even during peak hours. Only issue I've had has been my parking validation (completed by PCG) doesn't take upon leave; a few times I've had to pay the 12$ after being there for 2 hours and paying a bill and good tip upstairs.
