I found the food very mixed. Great waggyu steak but the sauce was so, so salty... And I like salt a lot. Good chips. Kangaroo was beautifully prepared and quite tasty. The chocolate dessert was overly chilled so tough and not easy to eat. Sorry. I wanted to like this place more. It was also very, very touristy, which in guess is due to the location.

Cozy and stylish place to grab something good to eat and something good to drink. The salads, the lamb and the home-made hamburgers are worth to try..if possible at the terrace to complete the experience!

This place was fantastic. They had a cool outdoor vibe in The Rocks area of Sydney. We got the seared Kangaroo for an appetiser, it was tasty and well prepared. However, it was a pretty small bite.

I got the black onyx hangar steak for dinner. It was fabulous. Very tender, it practically melted in my mouth!! The cabbage that can with it was also great, and I m not really a cabbage fan.

It wasn t a great place for my kids, the kids menu is only spaghetti, but I really enjoyed it.

We enjoyed a fabulous New year's Eve dinner here. Short walk from the holiday inn. The food was perfectly prepared and the service was great. It is casual but classy. I highly recommend this nice restaurant.

The staff were great, from the moment we walked in until we left.
We both had steak, 2 different ones, both were fantastic, cooked as asked, rare and medium rare, both meals were perfect.

Desert was great too.

I love the open kitchen, no secrets and plenty of busy staff, our food came out fast.

Wait staff were friendly and more than happy to have a chat and explain the menu's offerings, (it was our first visit).

We were very happy, great night out in Sydney.

Great service and knowledgeable staff. One of the few fine dining restaurants to offer filling portions without sacrificing on quality. They've got great selection of top quality meats. Highly recommended

On the continuum of service levels, Pony sits at one extreme - Over serviced .
We love good service, however we couldn t get a break when we dined for my wife s birthday on Friday. Every 5 minutes someone would come along and shuffle things around, ask questions, and generally be distracting.
In the end, my wife and I found the comedy of the situation, using silent language when someone was approaching to make each other laugh.
That said, I don t think we ll come back, as good service needs to be just right - not too much, and not too little - just right . The Pony experience felt like we were being bombarded.

Oh, and furthermore, the pricing was extreme with us being forced to buy sides with our mains due to the mains lacking any accompaniments.

Prices were high and the quantity of food was not. But that's expected at a restaurant like this one. The atmosphere is awesome and the staff was fun, engaging and entertaining. The kangaroo meet was something else, recommend it at least just to try it once. Visited here during the Vivid festival and there were light exhibits everywhere, it was great at night.

Everything is cooked over woodfire at Pony Dining in the popular The Rocks region. I chose the chermoula rubbed lamb shoulder, tabbouleh salad, cumin yoghurt.

The succulent lamb with the chermoula spice rub, freshness of the kale, light grains of cous cous, refreshing yoghurt and bursting pomegranates makes for a wonderful dish. Heaps of lamb, you won't go hungry.

For dessert I couldn't go past the roasted pumpkin cheesecake, pumpkin caramel, toasted pumpkin seeds, gingernut biscuit.

The pumpkin flavour is very subtle in the airy cheesecake. I love the crunch of the pumpkin seeds, the strong burnt caramel flavour, the childhood favourite gingernut biscuit crumbs which helps make this a very creative and yummy dish.

Now I dont know why they call it the "pony lounge', cause I didnt see no horse or a pony, heck the only thing close to it was the picture of pony on top my menu...anyhooo, that aside, was here for dinner on a hens night and the service was fantastic.. The food was good and our glasses were never empty! I guess that makes everything in the world seem alright. The cusine is modern Australian with good selection of options to choose from.. Their crumbed pork cutlet was meltingy delicious, crunchy on the outside and soft and juicy on the outsde... And a side of roasted potatoes made me feel like all was good with the world, or maybe just maybe that was the wine! The chorizo starter was divine and so were the grilled barra, and steak, no I didnt eat them all incase you are wondering, I just shamelessly picked from their plates.. You know tasting and stuff to give my stamp of approval.. So why the 3 stars, well everthing was good, but it wasnt great, it was just good.. Missed a bit of wow factor and felt a tad bit touristy for my liking..

Quite classy, if a little crowded.

Quite classy, if a little crowded.

We were here for a quick bite before a show, and so rushed through, but were quite impressed. The thing that sticks in my memory most was the service: really top-notch, attentive, professional, helpful, courteous, not overbearing.

The food was quite nice. Edamame and chorizo for shared starters. Because I'd had steak the night before I gave their very fine-looking cuts a miss and had the pork chop instead. It was incredibly thick and very juicy. The cauliflower with it were spiced well and cooked just right.

It's a bit of a pricey night out. And you'll rub close shoulders with the people next to you and staff leaning in to do their job. But food quality for a special meal was very good, and the service was some of the best I've had in Sydney.

I wish I could give this place 10 stars. It was probably the best meal I've had in my entire life. I got the lemon myrtle cocktail which was to die for and for food I got the crocodile and kangaroo dishes and had pumpkin cheesecake, a passionfruit truffle and the goat cheese platter. Sarah my server was amazing. She could read my mind and I'm sad I have to fly back to the USA and probably can't come eat here for a while

best restaurant in Sydney. The menu is extraordinary and just amazing. The food was delicious and the creation of the food was art. thanks to the amazing service for making the evening even better.

It was alright. My aunt was visiting me from New York, and was very keen to try some kangaroo dishes, so we went in. We had some olives... She ordered the seared kangaroo with raspberry. And I had some sort of steak. The portion was small. Luckily, she were still full from lunch. So it worked out great... and the quality was there. But I didn't love mine. On the other hand, the seared kangaroo was pretty good. I finished off with a cheesecake. Again, it was very small. But once I started eating it, I realized it was too creamy for me to even finish. The atmosphere of the place was cozy. I fount the music too loud, so we moved outside, and it was lovely and relaxing. The waitress we had was very sweet, I gave an extra star just for her. Overall, it was a nice ending of a sightseeing day.

Nice restaurant in The Rocks where we had some lunch. The chicken salad was great, just the right amount of chicken. Fairly expensive for what it was but that might just the price you need to pay in Sydney (visiting from London)

Food here was amazing, had the brisket which was perfectly cooked. They give you a steak knife for the meal but really I think a spoon would have done. Melted apart! Staff were friendly and attentive also.

A relaxing fine dining experience. My family stumbled into this restaurant on a relatively busy weeknight. We were seated after a quick 5-min wait, and sat outside in the back. We were treated with full attention and service. Food and wine are solid and great with some Australian flair. The contemporary decor and moody ambiance are also lovely.

Dinner in June 2017. Although the steak 250g was displayed at $ 37, the salad was extra charge at $ 75. It turned out to be a restaurant for tourists and Ichigen. It is displayed with priority on the smartphone map. It is a hand to get to the customer quickly. The seats are also in close contact.

I really enjoyed my evening at Pony.

From the moment my partner and I walked in the service was second to none. Jaz our lovely waitress was charming and made excellent recommendations. Glasses were never allowed to be empty and every need was attended to.
The highlight for me was the Ribeye and bone marrow. It was the best steak I have had in a really long time and the flavour of the marrow melting into the meat like a butter was sublime.

Highly recommend!

My friend and I made reservations here by chance and we were so glad that we did. It turned out to be one of the best dining experiences I've had and one of the top restaurants we've had a chance to visit in Sydney. Our server was great, timing every part of our meal perfectly. The food was exceptional!

I found the bench sitting and the hovering waiter very uncomfortable. Difficult to have a private conversation. The food was average and nothing special considering prices - my husbands steak was burnt along the edges. I would not recommend.

Because 0.5 stars was not an option, came here 1pm on a Saturday it was moderately quiet, the server was incredibly rude and inattentive to us. She answered all of our questions condescendingly with an attitude and took beyond ample time to deliver our beverages. I generally refuse to make things about race however I thereafter witnessed the same server be incredibly cheerful, attentive and accommodative to the white couple next to us. As a hospitality industry person myself in Sydney I have never felt more unwanted and uncomfortable at an establishment. So we left. Really upsetting and dissapointing.

this place has great memories for me, mostly because of my companionship at the table. the food can be good, but some mains are very lack luster. I would expect a salmon to look and taste a bit better at a place like this rather than a pub...but it was very similar. Great service however.

Positives - pleasant and professional waitperson. Location.
We were a party of 4 and got a table without a booking which was good. Negatives - Food was ok but overpriced with small portions. I do understand that rents would he really high around Circular Quay but still....
Calamari entree was very ordinary. 2 of us ordered steaks and they were very ordinary too.
Toilets were a long way away and not well maintained i.e. they smelled bad

Had a lovely meal. Food was tasty and well presented. Thought it was a little pricey but I think this was mainly influenced by the table set up. All the tables are so close together it is hard to have a private conversation.
Staff were very attentive except when trying to pay, ended up walking to the till which I think is a bit off putting for what Pony seems to be going for.
Otherwise would recommend.

Food was okay but we have experienced the worst service ever! (Especially compare to the table next to us, which was a western couple! The couple next to us was served pretty well such as the staffs help them to set up the table tower and keep refilling their water/sparking and even ask for their feedbacks etc, however we got nothing but a bill!) I think they are discriminate against Asian! Strongly not recommended!

The kangaroo tartare was amazing! Plating was on point! We also tried crocodile tail, I was a bit reluctant at the beginning but my friend was more game than me. It was nicely charred and had a very distinct smokey kind of flavour. It was a bit tough and cold for my liking though. Serving size was a bit small and wished the waitress could've notified us so we could order enough for two girls for lunch.
